At 7 P.M. Hogwarts Time on the evening of Monday, October 4th, 2021, Travis, Roger, Megan, and Lily all met up in the History of Magic classroom for their first meeting of the new Hogwarts Planning Club.

After helping themselves to chairs and exchanging quick hellos, Travis, Roger, Megan, and Lily quickly got down to business.

"So, " piped up Lily to begin things, "One of our responsibilities tonight is to plan this year's Halloween."

"You know, " said Roger thoughtfully, "Halloween is on a Sunday this year so we won't have class that day. I would like to propose an idea for a two part Halloween."

"How would this work?" inquired Lily.

"You know those interhouse teams we have each month starting this month?" asked Roger.

"Yes," replied Travis, Megan, and Lily simply.

"Well, " mused Roger, "As Halloween is the last day of the month, I thought it might be nice if those teams could spend part of Halloween together for one last meeting in October before the teams change on November 1st."

"I love that idea," cooed Lily a nanosecond later, "It'll be really nice for the teams to have a really fun last meeting together before the teams change."

"And, " added Megan, "It plays right into what Headmistress Kirke wants from the teams. Especially for these very first teams, I think this is a wonderful idea. Really enjoy part of a fun holiday with the group of new friends you've made over the month. "

"Incorporating our concept of interhouse bonding into a major holiday is genius move," smiled Travis.

"My idea, " explained Roger, "Is that people would spend the first part of our Halloween activities with their interhouse teams and then the second part of our Halloween activities with their normal group of friends."

"Still, " interjected Travis, "We need to decide what activities are going to part of this Halloween."

"Last year, " supplied Lily, "I did a vote with the old Hogwarts Planning Club as to whether we should do Scary Halloween, Carnival, or Dress Up. As you know, Scary Halloween won and was last year's Halloween. Perhaps we should consider carnival or dress up for this Halloween?"

"Not dress up," said Travis clearly, "If we're in a year that's all about making new friends and building new bonds, it's not the right year to pretend to be people we are not. This year should be all about being ourselves. I would support dress up in a future year, but not this year."

"The Sorting Hat got it right putting you in Ravenclaw, Travis," smiled Lily.

"How about we have a two part Halloween?" offered Megan, "Where part one is attending the carnival with our interhouse teams and part two is trick or treating with our normal friend groups?"

"Perfect!" chroused Travis, Roger, and Megan.

"Well, " said Lily happily, "I think we've settled on the main points. Now we just need to decide what kind of carnival activities we're going to have and what types of candies we will be trick or treating for and what kind of bags we will be using."

"I say, " declared Megan, "We each try to think of some ideas and meet back up a week from now to discuss and decide."

"The candy part shouldn't be too hard," said Travis crisply, "But, I think we should each give serious thought to our ideas for the carnival and each have at least two ideas to be put up for consideration at our next meeting."

""That makes sense, " said Lily matter of factly before adding, "Headmistress Kirke will be delighted when she finds out what we have discussed and decided here tonight."

Travis, Roger, Megan, and Lily all exchanged smiles and left for the night.
