Prequel To The Festival
In a secret conference room inside U.A., the teachers were all sitting at a huge table as they spoke with each other. The atmosphere was tense; it wasn't every day that villains managed to successfully invade your school causing terror and fear to their students and forcing one to go into a meltdown to save everyone else. This was excluding the media backlash; that is an issue of its own.
Vlad King yelled, "What I need to know is how were the villains able to bypass all of U.A.'s security measures and put the students' lives at risk? This is outrageous." The man crossed his arms and leaned back, "We need to have a complete overhaul of the system."
Aizawa who was bandaged all over his body, "Vlad is right. Something like this should have never happened to begin with," he then looked at All Might and activated his quirk making him even more intimidating given his current condition, "And you, where were you? Because I'm sure as hell that you were supposed to be with us from the beginning."
The man slowly tried to disappear in his seat from shame and embarrassment. Nezu and Izuku have already chewed him out for not being there, and he was pretty sure Aizawa knew why he wasn't there, but this was something that he deserved.
Present Mic interjected, "Come on, Shota. Give the man a break. He came, didn't he? And it was already handled by the time he arrived."
Eraserhead glared at the blond and said, "Handled, you say? Do you mean by handled that one of my students went through a psychotic breakdown to be able to defeat the monster that almost turned me into paste?" the man looked down, "It was only by the graces of the universe he didn't go into a permanent coma for all his efforts."
All Might frowned. Shota for all his anger was right. He should have been there, but instead, he wasted his time on useless fights that local heroes could have handled. It was truly a bad move for him as a teacher and the worse that young Jiro might have died.
Midnight cleared her throat and spoke up, "You know we can all hold the blame game, but in the end what happened can't be reversed. The best we can do right now is make sure that it doesn't happen again and try our hardest to keep our students safe from something like this again."
Snipe nodded his head, "What you're saying is true, but we can't simply ignore the fact that we were caught with our pants down on our own turf. This requires an immediate retaliation."
Midnight looked at him with an unimpressed look, "well aside from his macho talk and trying to puff his masculinity," every male in the room felt their pride being attacked at this point, "he still has a point in there. We need to find out how were they able to attack us, and where are they hiding to prevent something like that from happening ever again."
Hound Dog replied, "What worries me is the effect on the student's minds? We can't just simply ignore seeing their life being in danger and their friend almost dying as if it was a walk in the park."
Aizawa nodded his head, "Tell me about it. I know what horrible effects this could have on someone. For all the crap, I give my students and all the kids I expelled it was to protect them from this very similar notion. I know the horror too well."
Mic knew what his closest friend was talking about so he patted him on the back. It was years and he was still blaming himself for what happened on that day. It was one of the many reasons why he kept his life very secretive, so he doesn't suffer the pain of loss again.
Midnight frowned a little, "I suppose that we'll have them take therapy after this is done. I'll make sure to inform my class from general studies to go and have some as well because I'm sure that it might affect them knowing a sister class was almost killed."
Hound Dog nodded his head, "I'll make sure that we open my office for everyone."
Ectoplasm coughed into his hand, "It seems that we might have steered off course. Shall we return to what happened at the USJ? I mean looking at this from a very subjective angle, we can see that U.A. attack was a crafted one. This wasn't some random last-moment push."
Cementoss added, "Furthermore, the attack might have been a result of the media outbreak from the previous day. I wouldn't be surprised that the outbreak was just a smokescreen to get the schedule to the USJ."
Snipe nodded his head, "I agree with that. the media outbreak and then suddenly an attack on the USJ. Yeah, this seems too precise if you ask me."
Midnight replied, "But how were they able to enter the school during the outbreak? I mean that they are multiple cameras throughout the school. Even if the mist man helped him, he wouldn't have been able to avoid the cameras in the hallways or at least know where the schedule was."
Nezu spoke up for the first time, "For now, all of that is unknown, though I have a theory for that, but I need to keep it for myself just to make sure it isn't wrong."
Everyone accepted that as the doors of the room were opened and a man in a trench coat entered and said, "I really hope that I'm not late for this meeting."
Nezu smiled and replied, "No, not at all. I think that you just came in time to complete our meeting," the hybrid hero clapped his hand, "I think that you have some things that you need to inform us. After all, you didn't come here to chitchat."
The man laughed and smiled, "I wish that I came here to talk, but not. I have all the information on the people who attacked the USJ," the man then put a USB inside a computer as Vlad fired up the projector, "First, my name is Tsukauchi, and I'm the detective responsible for the USJ event."
The man began to flick through photos; each picture showed a person who was caught in the USJ attack. The men were rounded to be around 500 people from different backgrounds. Some were low crooks who heroes didn't care about, some were thieves, some were murderers, and many more…
Snipe whistled, "Well, that's enlightening and all, but how was this poesy able to be formed? I highly doubt that they came together through free well."
Tsukauchi replied, "True, those people were gathered from different parts of the country and gathered being promised that they will be the foot soldiers to a new society where they won't be disenfranchised." The man finished the picture show, "in other words, they were rounded by someone else."
He then showed a picture taken of both Shigaraki and Kurogiri, "This young man here," he said pointing at Tomura, "is the person who managed to convince them to join. He promised them that once All Might and his students were killed, they'd be able to create a new world where they would rule. Most people said that the guy was childish at best."
Vlad narrowed his eyes, "Now that you mentioned it, how was he able to recruit them? I saw him myself. The guy began to roll over once he was in a tough position and used video game lingo as if this was a game. Were those idiots really taken by his words?"
The man nodded his head, "They said that it seemed really good and that they couldn't refuse him at the time. It was really looking good for them attacking a bunch of students who didn't know better, and they expected the students to die."
Midnight added, "What else do we know about him from our sources?"
The man frowned a little, "That's the problem. We know next to nothing about him. I wasn't able to find anything about him; I'm pretty sure that even his name was fake, but from what I collected from the students, his quirk is something that requires five-finger touch which caused decay once it touched the target."
The room was silenced as they took a moment to digest this.
Ectoplasm rubbed his head as he felt the incoming headache, "Alright, so right now we have some kind of kid with a very dangerous quirk and a childish mentality." He then clasped his hands together leaning toward the table, "This seems like a very dangerous combination. We must summon all our resources to go and take him off the streets. If he was able to recruit these people, we don't want him to recruit anyone stronger."
Others nodded their head as Cementoss asked, "OK, the crazy kid aside, what about the mist man? Did you find anything about him or was he also a ghost with a fake name?"
The detective shook his head sadly, "I really hope we did, but we tried our best. The man wasn't found in any network from civilian, to national, to international. Even on the villain list of our country and other countries, there was no trace of him; his name must also be fake."
Nezu sighed, "So now we have a man that easily bypassed our security measures." He looked at Powerloader, "We need to work on putting new anti-wrapping measures to make sure that no one like him makes it past our walls."
The helmeted man nodded his head, "Alright, I'll work on it immediately once the meeting is over."
Nezu looked at the others, "As for the rest of you, I want you to make a full sweep of the school to make sure that there are no openings for intruders to use."
The others nodded their heads as they looked back at Tsukauchi who looked back at the projector.
The man began to talk once again, "Now, we can move to the final subject of this meeting of ours…" he put a picture of a horrendous-looking creature. It was the picture of the very same monster that attacked their students at the USJ, "…this was the secret weapon that they planned to defeat All Might, but as you can see it was obliterated before even it can be used."
Everyone looked at it shocked as Midnight asked, "Is that thing even human anymore? I honestly think that it had been given a huge amount of steroids to become this size."
Tsukauchi replied, "Well, you don't have to worry about it anymore given that one of your students reduced it to ashes…" he then played a video recovered from the USJ and showed Izuku's fight with the Nomu minute by minute till Izuku finally caused it to combust reducing it to nothing but ashes.
"The heat that the boy used made the ground around the Nomu to be turned into lava. "It was basically a slaughter once he used that move, but then again this thing wasn't something anything less than lethal force can be used against."
Ectoplasm asked, "What do you mean in both regards? What kind of insane heat did he use and what kind of monster was that to use this type of lethal force?"
The detective nodded his head, "First off, the heat the boy used was around 2000 degree Celsius. It was higher than the heat that blue flame users usually give off. Second, the monster is no man; that thing was just a mindless killing machine. In other words, if the boy didn't kill it, it was going to kill him. the boy did what he was the best at the moment."
The man said, "But we managed to take some samples from his ashes and handed them to the lab and the results we received were a little bit disturbing." He then added something, "…but first let me show you something before I show you the results…"
The man showed them a picture of a petty criminal. It was one that suddenly disappeared months ago and wasn't found anywhere. Most heroes didn't care much given that he doesn't do anything than the occasional pickpocketing or shoplifting.
Tsukauchi explained, "This man you saw here is…" he pointed to the picture of the Nomu, "…is the same person or used to be the same person because whatever happened to him destroyed his body and killed him. let's just say, he was remade on the cellular."
Snipe choked on his spit, "Ok, how in the world did this guy become this thing? It seems impossible unless there's some kind of doctor Frankenstein wannabe running around performing all kinds of experiments."
All Might replied, "But to do something so horrible is beyond believable."
The detective added, "But that's not all. During our tests, we found DNA of other people mashed into it. what was found… well, let's just say it was disturbing…" he then showed slide shows of different people and added, "People, meet the humans who made this creature or at least the sources of the multiple quirks of this thing."
Aizawa nodded his head, "I can attest to that. that monster handled Midoriya and regenerated all the damage the boy did to it. it also showed super speed and strength that was similar to All Might. I wasn't sure if I was going to make it."
All Might shivered as one person came to mind, but he made sure to kill him. he saw his body. He then felt Nezu patting his back and shaking his head telling him to be quiet.
The detective began to explain, "Through very thorough examinations, we were able to determine that this monster held different quirks of people who went missing months ago. We tried to search for them, but nothing came up. This monster had multiple quirks; that was can be sure of."
Cementoss rubbed his chin, "Seems kinda fishy. Reminds of the old tales of the underground boogeyman, but that was a fairytale." The man didn't notice All Might shivering or Nezu poking him to keep himself calm.
The detective then sighed saying, "As much as I find it hard to believe, it is true. The man's DNA was all kinds of messed up, and from what I understand from the students' testimony; the thing was mindless. It appears that the procedure where he became this thing, it lost its mind becoming a puppet."
Powerloader then said, "Then what are we waiting for? Let's get moving, if they made one, they'll make another one. We need to start moving and take whoever created this thing and put him in jail. I'm not sure that I want to see another thing like that."
Nezu nodded his head, "Alright, but first we need to make sure that our students are safe before any move because we don't know what the villains are planning for us, so as soon as the reviews for the defense system are made, we'll begin moving." He looked at the detective and asked him, "Anything else?"
"I'm sorry, but that's all I have to say for today. I hope that I helped your gentlemen." The man said.
The man then bowed and said, "I hope that you excuse me, but I need to go now. the station is kinda waiting for me. I hope we can meet again in much more favorable circumstances."
The man then excused himself and walked outside the room as he left the heroes for their devices. Nezu then talked, "Alright, let's move from this topic, and see what we also have on the table to discuss."
Hound Dog said, "I insist that both classes go to have therapy at my office or something to help them move on because we can't leave them hanging on like this. These are children," he looked at both Vlad and Eraserhead, "I expect both of your students to come to my office…"
He then pointed his finger at Aizawa and said, "Especially you, I know who you look down on seeking therapy." The man looked away huffing thinking that maybe he needs to change his methods.
Nezu replied, "Alright, you already made your point clear a couple of minutes ago, but now we have something else on the table…"
Everyone looked at him, "The Sports Festival"
The entire room exploded in shock and gasps as they wondered where the principal was going, Midnight said, "What sports festival? are you seriously still thinking that we will allow you to continue after this?"
Nezu looked at her and said, "It's not like I want it to happen, but the board of directors and for some reason the HPSC wanted the sports festival to happen saying that stopping it would make us look weak in front of the villains."
Aizawa replied, "Absolutely not, I'm not going to throw my kids into the fray just to make the higher-ups look good. They want something to grab attention; let them make a parade. People worldwide love parades so let's just make that and can have the top ten participating in it."
Vlad nodded his head, "He's right. We shouldn't throw our students into a public display of strength. I mean they just narrowly avoided death only to throw them the public and say 'hey, look at our students and their abilities. Make sure to take notes' isn't something that they need."
Nezu shook his head and said, "While I agree with the sentiment, you are both overlooking that the sports festival usually comes with important opportunities for students to show off their skills. This is a rare chance to be noticed by heroes."
Midnight replied, "But also attract villains' attention, we already have them attacked, no need for them to be exposed even more. Do you know the desperate attempts the media is trying to get an interview with one of our students?"
Nezu nodded his head, "All genuine concerns, but this is also for the students to communicate with each other. It will make them come closer. Plus, the security will be puffed up to make sure that no ant makes it past our walls."
The heroes looked at them till Present Mic spoke up, "Well, I'm cool with it, so let's get this ball rolling."
Both Eraserhead and Midnight looked at him like he lost whatever he had of his mind as Shota said, "Are you seriously on board with this? I thought you of all people will be against it."
The man shook his head, "I won't say that I'm not against it, but the administration is right, if we bend down our knees, it will make the villains feel like they won the fight. And as Nezu said, this is an opportunity for the kids to make a name for themselves by going into internships…"
Hound Dog cut him off, "But what you are leaving outside the discussion is that we have at least 30 agencies in contract with U.A. that we love to give our students an internship for a week."
Mic rubbed his head, "I know, but there's a difference between an internship and an actual internship by a respectable agency. The students need it…" the man whispered, "I also like my job as the commentator for the sports festival."
No one but Aizawa heard making the man roll his eyes at his best friend's eccentricities.
Powerloader crossed his arm, "Look, as bad as this seems, I also say that we allow the sports festival to happen. I can guarantee that the villains won't be able to sneeze after I'm finished upgrading the security system." He then looked away, "Plus, being honest, I want my students to be noticed by support companies. The ones we have are good, but all the big names come usually by the sports festival, so…"
Thirteen said, "But they can have better offers later on in other internships without putting their lives at threat." The hero was silent till now; her injuries made it hard to speak so she didn't do it…
…much that is. This was one of those few moments that required her to give her opinion to the fullest, "we can't use the argument that we are doing this for the students' benefit while also putting their lives at more risk than it already is."
Powerloader looked away as he said with a slight disappointment, "Well, it's easy for you to say that, but excuse me if my students don't get much attention like the hero students and I want the best for them. So yeah, I'm still with the festival going on."
The space hero merely shook her head in disappointment before looking at the others. She looked at All Might who was silent the entire time and asked him, "What do you think, All Might? I mean you are a teacher in this school after all. Your opinion is necessary for us to hear."
The blond hero froze up. He felt like he was like a deer caught in the headlights of a car that was about to run him over, but the worst part is that whatever he chose, it will only make him look bad. Should he choose to stop the festival, the others will think he doesn't want the students to have good internships. Now, should he choose to go on with it, others will think that he's not taking the safety of the students into account, so yeah it was a tough decision for him to make…
…not really, although the hero was on fence regarding the sports festival, he still wanted it to happen for one reason and it was for his successor to prove to the world that she is here. He might want to talk with her to make a show at the sports festival.
The man cleared his throat and began to speak readying himself to the strong backlash, "And after much consideration, I think the best course of action is to…" he gulped, "…carry on with the sports festival. you know business as usual."
Aizawa rolled his eyes saying, "OF course, you want it to go on. It's just another event where you get to show your face and act happy and pretty."
All Might scurried to protect face, "No, it's not like that, but think about it. this is a rare opportunity for the students. Every kid wishes to participate in the sports festival and denying them of this seems a little bit cruel…"
This caused more discussions among the heroes who were divided among two teams, but this caused Nezu to clap his hands, "Okay, let's solve this democratically…"
Everyone looked at him as he said, "Alright, let's do a vote and the notion that wins will be carried out and I will handle the consequences." The heroes nodded their heads as they began to vote…
Finally, the result was 6 to 5. Midnight, Eraserhead, Hound Dog, Vlad King, and Thirteen was the team who were against the sports festival carrying on, while Present Mic, Powerloader, Nezu, All Might, Ectoplasm, and Cementoss were the team who advocated the sports festival.
Eraser sighed, "Seriously Cementoss, I thought you of all people would be with us." The man shrugged as he looked away from the erasure hero.
Nezu then said, "Since this is over, the sports festival will be carried on. Furthermore, I will look at it personally so that nothing happens during it." he then pointed to the door and said, "Now, I believe that you all have classes to attend to, so get to it."
The heroes stood up and left, but some let out some grumbles much to Nezu's amusement.
Nezu looked at his board and said, "Now why is the HSPC interested in this year's sports festival?"
Back in class 1-A, the students were talking with each other waiting for the new teacher given that their teacher had a beating of a lifetime. Iida was now yelling at everyone to take their place only for the students to point out that he was the only one that is technically causing him to fall to the ground depressed for his negligence.
Mina asked, "Do you guys know who is going to replace Aizawa? He seemed that he got the beating that no one can come back from. I hope that he's ok."
Iida replied, "Well, I'm pretty sure that they gave a sufficient time to rest and take care of his injuries. I think that they might bring in a sidekick or another hero to the class…"
Suddenly the door of the room is opened, and Aizawa strolled to his usual place covered in bandages as the class shouts in shock, "Mr. Aizawa!"
The man looks at them and says, "You're being too loud and I hadn't had…" suddenly his body felt much better and the bandages were off. The man cracked his neck as he looked at Izuku, "Thanks, problem child. I really needed that."
The man looked at them and said, "Well, kids. You were all given the weekend to recover from what happened but be ready…" the man was silent for a moment as he added, "the fight isn't over…" this caused various reactions for confusion to excitement t fear, "the sports festival is around the corner and you need to get ready for it."
The class looked at him with blank expressions as they mentally said, 'that's a normal school activity!'
Iida then jumped up and said, "Sir, is it really wise to have the sports festival after our school was attacked? Is that a little bit irresponsible?"
The hero grunted as he said, "I tried my best to convince the facility against it, however, it was a losing vote procedure. The thing is that the security measures of the sports festival will be heavily increased such that an ant won't be able to enter it."
Izuku then said, "Can I take my medal and be saved the trouble of participating knowing that I'm going to win in the end?" Aizawa looked at him and wanted to tell him no, but stopped for a moment. He then took out his phone and texted someone. A Bing was heard and Aizawa said, "No, you can't. Nezu wanted me to make sure that you don't weasel your way out of it."
Izuku sighed as he noticed everyone looking at him and asked them, "what's wrong?"
Momo said, "I think I speak for all of us when I say that you're severely underestimating us. I think we all have the same…" suddenly she felt a warm feeling in her body as she looked in a mirror gulping. Everything was the same except her face was now that of a boy, scratch that she is a boy.
The previous girl said, "I think that you proved your point. Please turn me back." The boy did it at once.
Mineta asked, "Aizawa-sensei, how can we stand out when Midoriya can literally do anything? I think the sports festival won't be good if one player is seriously O.P. and the others can touch him let alone harm him."
The man grunted as his student was right. Midoriya for all purposes invincible which made him a problem child, so he said, "Mineta, you're ignoring the fact that the sports festival is an opportunity to be noticed by everyone else. And I mean pro-heroes."
Kyoka nodded her head, "Yeah, for the sports festival is a good way to be recognized by awesome heroes and become their sidekicks before you launch your own agency." She looked at Denki saying, "But that won't happen to everyone some will stay sidekicks like you Kaminari…"
The boy cringed as everyone laughed at him. the rest of the class was business as usual. It was now time for lunch as Kyoka, Iida, Izuku, Pony, and Ochako were walking together. Izuku was looking around making sure to keep his eyes open for Kendo. After the water bucket, he turned her into a mermaid inside her class at the same time he made Momo into a boy.
Kyoka then looked at Izuku, "Yo green head, you never told me why did you become a hero?"
Izuku blinked as Discord spoke on his behalf, "The boy has no evil bone in his body so instead of using his awesome powers to cause chaos and have fun with it." the boy frowned, but nodded his head nonetheless.
Kyoka asked him, "Well, what do you call the horror he puts poor Kendo through?" both shrugged as Izuku summoned a sign that said 'Business as usual!'
Pony then said, "I wanted to be a hero to make my mommy proud, and also I want to help people as much as I can because it's nice to help others." The others were taken about by the amount of sunshine energy emitted by her.
Iida said, "I wanted to be a hero since it was in my family's legacy from father to son."
Jiro said, "Well, for me, I wanted to make people happy, but I always liked music so for the longest time I had no idea what to choose, but someone told me that I should find a way to mix my passions together so here I am."
Everyone looked at Ochako who blushed under the attention, "Well, mine isn't as wholesome as the rest of you…" the girl looked away twiddling her fingers, "I did it for the money…"
Everyone was shocked that someone as wholesome as her was only interested in money, but she explained further that it was mostly for her parents to help them. She told how she felt guilty about it, but they told her that it was ok.
Izuku then asked her, "Hey, Uraraka, how about I help you by making your parent's company have more customers? I'm sure that it will be good for everyone."
The girl looked at him with a happy expression it would be everything she ever wanted, but it wouldn't be through her own hard work so she shook her head, "No, thanks. I want it to be through my own hard work." The boy smiled giving a thumbs-up as he sent a random hero and a villain to the countryside. Their fight caused huge damage, but one company will have a huge boon out of it in the long run.
Suddenly, a loud voice came through the hallways as All Might was there and pointed a finger at Jiro saying, "Young Jiro is here." The young girl quirked an eyebrow at him as he carried on, "wanna have lunch with me?" he said holding a small bento box.
The girl lifted her hand and said, "No, thanks. Call me when it's important."
The man quickly shook his head and said, "Wait, young Jiro. I needed to talk about something."
The girl nodded as she went with him, while the others went to the cafeteria.
The man and the girl entered a conference room the man deflated handing her a small bento and said, "Thank you for coming here, young Jiro." He then coughed, "I'm sorry if I acted a little weird back in the hall, but I wanted to talk about the sports festival."
The girl said, "No problem, but what is the thing about the sports festival that you wanted to talk with me about? I mean it must be important to do such a weird stunt."
The man was depressed as he mentally said, 'This girl is so blunt. Well, I know that she will always be honest with me whatever the situation is!'
The man then said, "No need to fear anything, but I wanted to talk about your performance at the sports festival. nothing really serious or that you need to worry about. I can assure you that."
The girl eyed him wearily and finally said, "I honestly want to hear what you have to say."
The man smiled, "Alright, let's begin. First off, I want you to send my thanks to Midoriya for dealing with the Nomu because I'm sure my time would have gone down a good chuck had I fought it."
The girl replied, "Yeah, that would have caused a huge pain in the ass if your time went down the drain, but the green bean saved your butt."
The man chuckled at the girl's behavior and said, "Now regarding the sports festival, I only ask you to show the world that you are here. You know leave your mark on the sports festival."
The girl put her chin on her hand, "I don't what you are getting at."
The man explained, "You know what I mean young Jiro. As the future symbol of peace, I meant in the sports festival to show the world your abilities. Make the villains fear you even through the screens. Give the people a good show of power."
The girl smiled at him, but her earphone jack attacked him in the ear as she activated its vibrations saying, "I won't be some kind of circus freak just to make you feel better about yourself."
The man pouted as he rubbed his ear, "You know that you could have just refused this. No need for such violence."
The girl chuckled a little as she leaned in her chair saying, "Sorry, but that isn't my style." She then cleared her throat saying, "But in all honesty, I'll try my best. I can't promise you first place, but I can promise to push myself to the limits."
The man smiled saying, "That's all I ask for."
The girl then stood up and left to go to her friends. When she was walking to the cafeteria, she coughed into her sleeve and saw blood, "What is going on with me lately?" she said looking at a couple of cracks in the palm of her hands.
After lunch was over, the students went back to their classes. At the end of the day, the students of 1-A went to pack their stuff and head home but found that the door was blocked by a group of students.
Bakugo walked up to them and said, "Move out of the way, extras…" this opened a huge can of beans as students began to complain thinking that class 1-A was full of jerks for surviving a villain attack. One of them being a purple-haired kid walked up to the class and declared war.
However, during that chaos, Izuku was simply talking with Pony who he saw standing among the students waving at him. both of them ignored the purple-headed boy who was enraged and walked away fuming.
Izuku then went to the principal's office and said, "Sir, I need permission to use my powers outside of school." Aizawa who was there was about to say no when Nezu handed Izuku a paper granting that permission.
The nighttime hero sighed, "What are you planning to do problem child?"
The boy shrugged, "Nothing much. Just helping the less fortunate. You now giving bald people hair, making the blind see, fixing all kinds of trouble."
The man sighed once more, "Just make sure that you don't form a religious cult about yourself." The boy nodded and went on his merry way.
He looked at the rat god and sighed a third time, "I don't get paid enough for this shit."
