After driving for most of the early morning Ellie felt her eyelids become heavy and almost veered off the county highway a few times. Despite, wanting to put some more distance behind her, she knew she needed to stop and take a break and perhaps get some coffee to help keep her awake and alert. Besides, she needed to get her bearings straight, although she was taught vigorously about important locations, all she had were road signs for references and a map would be undoubtedly useful.
As soon as Ellie spotted a lone gas station she pulled over and parked the impala in a spot far from other cars in fear of her accidently hitting another car, not trusting her maneuverability skills with the long classic chevy. The highway was fairly simple to navigate as it was just simply going straight most of the time without having to worry about any sharp turns. And with it being the early hours of the morning there were, luckily, not a lot cars on the road to watch out for.
Ellie got out of the car taking in her surroundings discreetly before shutting the driver's door and locking it behind her. The sun was just barely peaking over the horizon and a soft glow of yellow and orange painted the sky strikingly against the green trees of the hilly countryside. Ellie patted the side of her overalls feeling her switchblade tap against the side of her thigh in reassuring comfort. Ellie placed her hands in the front pockets of her zip up feeling the chill of the cold morning air seep through the thin fabric. The cold fall winds were fast approaching and Ellie made note that she would have to switch to her warmer jacket soon. Ellie trudged towards the small convenient store looking tactfully around her feeling a bite of fear and vulnerability elevating her anxiety at being out alone. She knew she was taking a risk in isolating herself from the Hunters, but the fear of being away from her uncle and losing him was far more powerful that it overshowed any risk in her young mind. He was the only family she had left and she could not bear losing him especially when she could be of use or aid. She knew once she found him, he would be furious with her, but at this point it mattered little to the scared teenager. She needed him and did not want him to be alone in this. Family sticks together because that's all you had.
Ellie adjusted her navy ball cap on her head before entering the convenient store. The warm heat rushed over her chilled body in a comforting relief. Ellie immediately walked over to the coffee station and pour herself a large cup of coffee putting plenty of sugar and cream to offset the bitter taste to her amateur palette. As Ellie made it up to the register, she snatched a packaged blueberry muffin and a map off the wire rack and set her things on the counter.
The middle-aged woman behind the counter sat up straighter on her wooden stool peering over the newspaper she had fanned out. The woman folded the newspaper and set it aside before adjusting her glasses up the brim of her nose. She eyed Ellie with a bit of concern as she rung up her coffee, muffin, and map.
"This all for you, dear?" The woman inquired politely.
"Yes, ma'am." Ellie answered with a nod before looking towards the door eager to get back to the Impala. Despite, nothing out of the ordinary her nervous energy kept her antsy and in an impatient state of unease. She was, at the end of the day, not safe anywhere as demons were on the lookout for her, not that any were aware of her location, her uncle took measures to ensure that. However, it still did not make her in any less in peril of being discovered. Besides, the two Hunters she sneaked away from were more likely to be on her trail which was her misguided primary fear at present.
She had this foolish inclination that she perhaps would be lucky and the Hunters would just let her go and they could focus on their own problems. However, something inside of Ellie knew that was crazy notion and undoubtably wishful thinking on her part. Although, the idea of them letting her go made the young girl uncannily sad for some unknown reason, it would be irrefutably convenient for them to just forget about her.
"Five eighty-six." The cashier informed and Ellie handed her the emergency credit card her uncle gave to her.
The lady accepted it and swiped the card waiting for the machine to register it.
"That's an awful lot of coffee." The woman commented offhandedly that sounded a lot more like a suggestion that Ellie should probably not be drinking that much at her age.
"Yeah, my dad needs it to stay awake." Ellie lied smoothly as she grabbed her card back and slide it into her left overall pocket.
"Have a nice day." Ellie expressed politely and, without a moments pause, swiftly grabbed the coffee, muffin, and map off the counter wasting no time in heading out the door.
Once back in the safety of the Impala, Ellie took a small sip of the hot sugar tainted coffee crinkling her nose a bit as it was still not sweet enough for her liking. The bitter drink was not exactly her favorite thing flavor-wise, but she liked the alertness it provided her. She placed the large foam cup in the cup holder and began to eat her muffin which was oddly overly sweet in contrast to the coffee, but the hungry teen cobbled it down quickly needing the energy. She kept her eyes on the two-line county highway, an unwarranted apprehension beat against her nerves fearing that at any moment she would see Sam and Dean appear racing down the road. A spread of unwanted guilt began to fill her gut at leaving them so abruptly and taking their car, she knew it was unequivocally wrong what she was doing, but she was convinced she was justified in her actions because, in the end, no matter how she measured it, it was for the best.
They didn't want her with them, she reminded herself again, that much was clear. Dean said it himself; she was dumped on them like some puppy which hurt the young teen no matter how hard she tried to convince herself otherwise. She was simply, down to its essence, unwanted and useless to them, an unexpected burden that was giving them more trouble than she was worth. And it was all just as well because she didn't belong with them anyways. It was bitterly understandable as she was not their problem, despite her uncle's request to keep her safe, she was ultimately not theirs in any way shape or form to care for or protect. And when it came down to it, if there was a choice between her or their family, they would choose their own. Every single damn time, in every scenario, in every possible outcome. That was just the cold hard fact of the matter. Because that is what happens in the Hunting business, you protected your own or you suffered the consequence of painful loss. It wasn't personal or vindictive, it was just facts and Ellie knew that cold truth from bitter experience.
Ellie also knew that she was a potential danger to them. Afterall demons were after her and they were at risk for just being associated with her. Although, it was terrifying, she was still convinced it was, in the end, all for the best to just get away and go on her own. She did not need their pity or their protection. She was ultimately doing them a favor by ridding them of their burdening responsibilities.
A sudden rawness built up in her throat at her thoughts and unexpected tears glistened her tired earthy brown eyes. Ellie reached up and swiped away her wetness with the back of her hand. Ellie sniffled embarrassed by cracking her resolve and showing her vulnerability. Despite her justification in everything, she couldn't help, but feel sad, lonely and desperately afraid like a young thirteen-year-old girl should be. However, she was no ordinary teenager and she could not afford the luxury of despairing and giving into helplessness. She had to stay strong and keep pushing forward because that is how you survived and got through it all.
Ellie blinked a few more silent tears out before laying her weary body down across the bench seat bringing her knees up to her chest and wrapping her arms around herself in a protective manner giving herself some soothing comfort.
You're gonna be alright. It's gonna be okay.
Ellie blinked her round brown eyes feeling a heaviness weigh against her lids. Giving into her exhaustion Ellie closed her eyes and was sound asleep within a minute.
Ellie jerked her body harshly, her eyes flinging open as she was awakened by the sharp ringing of music by her cellphone. Ellie sat up abruptly and reached in the front part of her backpack grabbing her blue Nokia cellphone. Ellie squinted at the tiny screen blinking her tired eyes into focus. The young teen felt her chest tighten and her lungs constrict as the incoming call was from none other than Sam Winchester. Even though she expected them to call sooner or later she did not expect the harsh anxiety and fear that came with knowing they had discovered her absence. The annoying unstoppable guilt resurfaced and pressed heavily on her chest and the fright of picturing their angry faces was enough to make the young girl squirm.
Ellie bit her bottom lip as she stared at the Nokia screen ringing obnoxiously and impatiently at her. She could practically hear Sam screaming at her to answer. There was a brief moment where she thought of picking up and reassuring them that she was fine and she would let them know where the Impala was as soon as she got another means of transportation. But she knew the conversation would not go in the civil way she wished. She knew they would not listen to her side of things nor care what she had to say. Therefore, she decided it was best not to answer all together and spare them and herself from a conversation that would get them nowhere. She made up her mind and was not going back and nothing they said would convince her otherwise. Nevertheless, there was a conflicting reluctance and guilt that tugged at her bruised heartstrings that fought against her justification and reasoning. No matter the grounds of her vindication she couldn't deny the fact that she surprisingly missed them and the security and comfort they had brought to her with their company. Although perhaps overbearing at times, it was reassuring not to be alone. And she what made the awful guilt all the worse was she knew they were good men. She witnessed them on the Hunt helping others and saving many lives admirably. However, just because they were good men did not mean she belong with them nor should she compromise them or burden them with her problems.
Ellie sighed as she put her phone on silent mode before sliding it back into her front backpack pocket where she wouldn't be bothered by the fact that they were reaching out to her.
Ellie straightened her posture and adjusted herself in front of the large thin steering wheel as she turned the key into the ignition taking note of the time which around 8:30AM. She had slept for a good two hours and she hoped with her bit of sleep and coffee to keep her going that she could stay awake and alert to continue to drive.
An urgency revved up in her as she was now aware that Sam and Dean had discovered her absence, she had at least a four-hour head start on them which was promising. Despite, them not knowing where she was headed, she still felt this biting urgency to get back on the road finding it best not to underestimate the seasoned Hunters. Besides, it would give her a sense of reassurance knowing she was moving and putting more distance between her and the no doubt angry Hunters. There was also this pressing childlike apprehension Ellie felt about simply being caught, although unlikely, she couldn't help, but innocently fear the repercussions of her actions as the hard-nosed Hunter threatened her with a hiding more than once. Although, she was lucky on several instances to avoid such peril to her bottom it was still an embarrassing and unwanted risk that was becoming a grave possibility at this point. And after running off and taking his car, something wisely told her, if he found her, he would not be in a very forgiving mood. Although, he did see fit, 'out of the goodness of his heart', not to punish her after disobeying on the hunt last night. So perhaps, the man was bluffing. He was not her blood, as Sam so honestly put it, after all.
Ellie took a good hearty sip of her now cool coffee grimacing as the bitter taste slid down her throat unpleasantly. Then, without hesitation, Ellie shifted the Impala into reverse and drove out of the gas station parking lot and onto the road convincing herself constantly, almost incessantly, that she was making the right choice and that everything was going to be alright.

After only about an hour and a half, Ellie felt her tense body ache and her bottom become numb from the constantly sitting. The stress and the weariness were taking a toll on the young teens already fatigued body. Ellie rolled her neck and shifted in her bottom against the leather seat in discomfort hearing her belly grumble and complain at the lack of nutrients. The small gas station muffin was not nearly enough to satisfy the growing athletic teen and Ellie was kicking herself for not grabbing more food or at least a hydrating drink to satisfy her thirst that was coming on strongly as the coffee was parching her quickly. Ellie groaned knowing she was going to have to stop again to eat and walk around. She was not used to riding in a car for long periods of time nor was she accustom to driving herself for such a long distance. The driving itself was stressful to the unseasoned thirteen-year-old, let alone driving knowing she had two disgruntled Hunters looking for her along with demons who both, luckily, had no idea where she was, but it still gave her a sense of considerable unease which severely was eating away at her energy and stamina.
Ellie pulled off into a small-town avoiding roads where there was heavy traffic at all cost, still not confident in her skills to simply not hit anyone with this boat of a car. She managed to pull into a Dunkin Donuts parking in the furthest and most isolated space available. She got herself a bagel and two doughnuts and large bottle of water which she devoured quickly. She made use of the restroom then walked back out of the restaurant toward the Impala, but the young girl was not nearly ready to get back on the road. Instead of climbing into the vehicle, Ellie rounded the front of the Impala and sat herself on the edge of the hood bringing her one leg up resting her brown boot on the side while she let the other dangle off idly. The young girl wrapped her arms absentmindedly around her bent leg as she looked off onto the small park that sat behind the Dunkin Doughnuts. The warm sun beamed down on her in the cloudless blue sky relieving her against the chilly autumn breeze. It was a beautiful day and it made Ellie long to simply enjoy it feeling a disheartening wish to be just a normal teenager. The cool breeze blew her brown locks back away from her face as the side of her large navy zip up shimmied off her left shoulder revealing her white t-shirt sleeve underneath. Ellie inhaled the crisp air taking in a couple deep and soothing breaths as she attempted to calm her distressed body and mind completely unaware of the approaching presence.
"Nice car." A voice piped up to the left of her that sounded unnervingly close.
Ellie jerked her attention towards the unexpected voice, her heart nearly lurching out of her chest as she dropped her boot off the Impala jumping onto her feet and taking a startled step back. Her eyes were as wide as saucers and a pale stricken look crossed her face feeling her muscles tense with anxiety as she looked at him.
"Woah." The young boy exclaimed putting his hands up startled by her intense reaction. "I'm-I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you." He apologized seeming genuinely regretful for making her jump out of her skin.
Ellie blinked her brown eyes at the young boy standing next to the Impala feeling her lips part slightly as she took in his rather handsome appearance. The young boy was tall and lean looking to be only a few years older than Ellie. His dark brown bangs wisped across his forehead in a choppy overgrown bowl cut that was slightly greasy, but not at all unattractive to the young thirteen-year-old. His striking blue eyes stared at her giving her a pleased and confident look like he liked what he saw. Although, Ellie couldn't imagine why as she did not find herself remotely attractive in her overalls, ball cap, and thick brown boots. Didn't boys like girls in dresses, make-up, and glittery jewelry?
Realizing she had been staring at him for a far too long without saying anything, she shook her head awkwardly.
"No, it's-it's alright." Ellie reassured dipping her head down shyly in embarrassment for acting like a psycho, jumping outrageously like he was going to murder her, making her appear downright foolish to the attractive young boy. Ellie felt her cheek blush and this weird form of warmth fill her chest. She had not many opportunities to talk with boys her age and often found herself a ball of nerves around them making her feel awkward and downright vulnerable.
The boy just smiled confidently. "I'm Jake."
"Ellie." She expressed softly thinking he had a very nice smile. The kind that was warm and pleasing to look at.
"You have a nice car." He reiterated running his young eyes over the black steal frame of the Impala eagerly as he nodded to himself before placing his hands in his jean pockets in a casual manner.
"It's my…uncle's actually." Ellie explained wondering if the boy thought she was far older than she was. Being thirteen did not qualify you to drive a car legally in this country. Ellie knew that. He must think she was at least sixteen which was fine by her as she did not want to be questioned and have to lie to the kind attractive boy who seemed to take an interest in her and Dean's car.
"And he lets you drive it?" He asked in astonishment with some envy in his voice. "That's freaking awesome." He declared fondly smiling at Ellie with approval.
Ellie just bit her bottom lip feeling the relentless guilt push against her chest once again as she flat out took the classic car without her 'uncle's' permission. She certainly didn't get the consent, but she wasn't about to tell Jake here that.
"I got my learners permit a few weeks ago. Can't wait to get on the road by myself." He expressed with teenage excitement confirming that the young teenager had to be at least fifteen or sixteen.
Jake blushed slightly before pushing his hands deeper into his pockets glancing at the ground as he shifted a bit on his feet.
"Hey, I wondering, I got like a half an hour before I got to get to school. Ya wanna hang out with me down at the park?" He offered cooly, but there was clear apprehension in his voice as he awaited her answer.
"Oh um…I…" Ellie began lamely completely taken back by his offer. The young girl felt a torn conflict beginning to battle within her. She needed to get back on the road again, but Jake's charming hopeful face and beautiful blue eyes had her faltering remarkably quickly. She had never been asked to do anything with a boy, let alone one as good-looking and Jake was, and it was pulling on a teenage desire that was undeniably pressing.
Not getting the opportunity to be a teenager or enjoy the company of boys her own age, Ellie found herself giving into her hormonal needs despite the biting apprehension she felt about getting back on the road.
"Sure, but I can't be long." Ellie expressed unable to stop herself from the conquering feelings to simply enjoy another teenager's company.
The park was just down the hill behind the Duncan Donuts where the Impala could easily be seen making her feel much more comfortable as she idly swung on the swing next to Jake. They talked for what seemed like a few minutes, but a few minutes turned into over an hour as they were simply invested and enthralled in each other's company swapping interests and stories which Ellie had to modify quite a bit. However, she kept as much as could true only changing things that she absolutely had to, careful not to let on that she was some kind of freak.
"Oh shoot. What time is it?" Ellie expressed urgently as she shot up from the swing pulling her phone out of her pocket and looking at the time along with the abundance of notification of over eighteen missed calls. All from Sam, no doubt. It was well past the time she wanted to leave.
"I gotta go." Ellie expressed pressingly feeling her feet backpedaling away from Jake.
"Really? You can't stay longer?" Jake pressed in a disappointed tone, his voice leaning on hope which was utterly flattering to know that her company was wanted. A need that was greatly lacking in her young heart. Jake seemed to be the only one who wanted her around and it was just damn shame that she had to leave him.
"No, my uncle…I-I just have to go." Ellie said taking another step backward as urgency pushed her, despite the undeniably reluctance to leave her new friend finding her chat with him to be crushingly enjoyable.
"Well, at least give me your number so I can call you and maybe we can hang out again." Jake said getting up off the swing and pulling his flip phone out of his jean pocket.
"If you want to." He added hopefully looking up at Ellie for approval and acceptance of him which hit Ellie's young heart incredibly hard.
"Jake, I-I don't live around here. I just-I just got to go." And before Ellie had time to change her reluctant mind, she turned and started to run up the hill towards the Duncan Donuts where the Impala was park. Her heart aching with heavy unwillingness and shame as she left him standing there with not even a proper goodbye. She felt incredibly guilty, but the truth was she couldn't stay nor could she form any type of friendship with someone she would never see again. It hurt her deep into her core as the normalcy of teenage life was sadly and unfairly unobtainable to the young girl. She had no friends her age. In fact, she had no one, except her uncle who she needed to find. The pain of her loneliness resurfacing made the need to find him even more demanding than ever before.

Ellie drove until it was nearly five o'clock, her tight limbs and muscles ached and strained from sitting for so long. She did not know how Sam and Dean drove for hours on end without complaint. It was downright unbearable. Ellie decided to pull off into another town that was only an hour or two from her destination. She had skipped lunch entirely which was a grave mistake making her feel weak and utterly worn out. She had to rest and get something in her stomach so she could push through the last few hours of driving. Ellie parked the Impala into a gas station right across from a Wendy's, again, not trusting her maneuvering skills in the small parking lot of the fast-food joint that was full of cars due to the dinner rush. Besides, she needed gas desperately as she was practically running on fumes. Not that she didn't try to put gas in it, she just couldn't find the damn fill cap. It wasn't on either side of the Impala's body and she did not pay attention when Dean filled it multiple times which made her feel like a complete bonehead.
Ellie walked across the street and ordered her food from the dining room of the Wendy's restaurant. After finishing her meal, taking great note of her weary limbs, Ellie decided it would be best to just simply get a hotel for the night and continue in the morning. Sam and Dean didn't know where she was and she doubted very much that their guessing skills were that all great or they would just by dumb luck happen upon her in this small town. Even if they figured she was going to Berkeley Springs, there were several towns between here and there and the chances of them coming to this obscure town small was astronomical. The odds were against them in every sense and, honestly, she was just too damn tried to be paranoid right now. There would be plenty of time for paranoia and panic tomorrow when she got her energy back.
She was mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausted. Her bottom was numb, her neck was stiff and she just wanted to fall onto a mattress, no matter how lumpy, hard, or uncomfortable, it didn't matter as she just wanted to pass out.
Ellie emerged from the restaurant and began to trudge her tired limbs towards the small crosswalk keeping her head down and kicking a small pebble with the tip of her boot. Once Ellie made it to the small crosswalk, she glanced up to take note of the cars when she felt her limbs suddenly jolt and freeze in stiffened panic.
A sharp gasp escaped her lips as total shock and dread crashed over her like a waterwall. Ellie's wide brown eyes locked onto Sam and Dean's tall toned builds that were unmistakable as they roamed briskly around the Impala like anxious and edgy hound dogs.
A tan Honda Accord was carelessly angled next to the classic chevy with great contrast. The driver's door was still swung open making Ellie concluded that they had just recently pulled up. Ellie blinked stupidly with her mouth gaped in disbelief as Sam and Dean marched around the Impala frantically searching seeming to realize fairly quickly that Ellie was not there. They begin to glance around the area briskly in all directions as Ellie watched still frozen in dumbfounded shock as to how the hell they found her.
Ellie found her shaky legs take a timid and painstakingly slow step back fearing if she made any hasty movements or even breathed too loud, they would spot her across the small street which was annoyingly narrow making the distance between them not nearly as far as Ellie would like.
However, it did not take long and, as fate would have it, Sam's towering physic, suddenly, squared in her direction and his frantic eyes met the young teenager remarkably quickly. Sam instantly stilled his brisk movements as he locked his acute green eyes onto her like a hawk.
"Dean!" Sam's voice bellowed deeply in urgency getting Dean to snap his attention toward Ellie across the street. Ellie flinched harshly at Sam's booming voice sending a shockwave of panic surging through her body as she gasped loudly.
Both men eyes laid fixated on her like she was their prime target of interest making Ellie's heart beat wildly in her chest sending adrenaline pumping through her veins forcing her tired body into a state of immense energy.
Despite the distance Ellie could feel their forceful glares penetrating her like dreadful daggers.
Oh shit.
There was a short beat as their intense glares lay secure on her before Ellie took another anxious step back which made Dean's heart jerk in his chest and limbs stiffen in fearful aggravation. Recalling vividly these very telltale signs of her running from them when they first time met the young teen.
Don't you fucking dare, kid.
Nevertheless, Ellie dared. After only a fleeting breath, Ellie gave into her flight instincts, briskly turning on her heels and bolting in the opposite direction like her very tail was on fire. Her brown locks whisked behind her under her navy ballcap feeling her baggy overall tighten and slack at every long and urgent stride.
"Shit." Dean snapped as he launched after her feeling his own body rush with billowing adrenaline. Sam was right at his heels as they recklessly charged across the street in front of oncoming cars, not bothering to make use of the crosswalk as they determinedly rushed after the thoughtless teenager who had the audacity to make a break for it even now. Sam gritted his teeth in aggravation. This kid had some damn nerve that was for sure.
The rash teenager had no idea where she was running to or had any sense at all in what she was doing. There was no plan formed from her young adolescence impulse, all she knew was she had some pissed off Hunters chasing her and, at the moment, she had no desire to face either of them with what she had done. She naively hoped to evade them and somehow this would all work out in her favor if she could just avoid capture.
Ellie was a fast runner and, although she was not blessed with height, her slim athletic build made her agile and nimble thanks to hours of vigorous training. She sprinted behind the Wendy's building only to be met with a towering chain link fence that was covered in foliage that weaved and spread through the links. Ellie shuffled her feet slowing down her pace just enough to turn swiftly and run along the fence line behind the brick building next to it. Ellie could hear the pounding of heavy boots thudding against the pavement behind her, but she didn't dare look as she picked up her slim legs and booked it forward into a dead sprint kicking her speed into another gear.
"Ellie! Stop!" She heard Sam bellow behind her, his voice deep and sharply commanding making Ellie flinch, but she managed not break her stride.
Ellie could feel her heart hammering harshly in her chest as her adrenaline pumped vigorously through her veins giving her a rush of energy as her body kicked into full flight mode. Ellie's labored breathing picked up rapidly as she rounded the end of the chain link fence line gripping onto the metal pole as she whipped her body around to the other side. Ellie was met with the back of the paved lot of an auto body shop. A new wave of urgency kicked in as she could feel Sam's looming presence gaining on her with his vastly superior height and speed.
Taking full advantage of her small agile build, Ellie weaved through the service cars, scarps of metal and piles of stacked tires, breaking up Sam's long strides slowing his pace down as he compensated for the lack of space in the lot. Although, Ellie knew she could not evade him like this for long, even at his slowed pace, it was just enough for her find a different avenue of escape.
With her acute eyes Ellie spotted a small side ally that traveled between the auto body shop and another building. Without much thought, Ellie veered towards it taking dreadful note of the high chain link fence that blocked the ally between the two buildings. But, luckily for her, there was break on the bottom right corner that frayed outward slightly appearing just barely big enough for her skinny frame to slip through. With fear provoking her, Ellie risked it daringly and bolted towards the small break in the fence. Ellie slammed her body into the chain link fence feeling it raddle stiffly as she grunted at the impact taking little care in slowing down her momentum knowing Sam was dangerous close. The young girl squatted down by the frayed opening that curved out rigidly toward her. She got her on knees enclosing her fingers around the stiff links pulling outwards giving her just enough of an opening where she could shimmy her small slim body through the tight opening. Ellie pushed her head through as quickly as she could turning her shoulders to the side before dropping down on her elbows. She began to army crawling vigorously until she was all the way through feeling the cold rough asphalt scrap against her forearms and knees. The potent smell of garbage and damp air filled her nose unpleasantly as the instant chilled air of the shaded ally rush over her limbs.
Once the heel of her boot scrapped against the bottom frayed links, Ellie jerked them inward away from the opening fearing Sam's hand reaching through and snatching her ankle. The young teenager hastily scrambled to her feet pressing her palms against the rough asphalt before booking it down the ally. Ellie dared to glance over her shoulder, her wide brown eyes capturing Sam large imposing physic appearing on the other side of the fence slamming an aggravated palm against the stiff links making it raddle.
"Ellie!" Sam growled in a very provoked tone of vexation.
"Damn it." She heard Sam curse in angry frustration giving her hope that he wasn't even going to try to fit through the small opening as Ellie barely shimmied through herself. However, she wasn't about to stick around as she darted down the shadowed ally passing two large green commercial garbage bins.
Ellie allowed a small smile of satisfaction to slip across her lips feel a misplaced and inappropriate smugness cover over her as she felt she had just outwitted a grown Hunter.
A feeling of hope rose within her as she came to the end of the ally. However, just as she was about to round the corner to exit of the alleyway, she rammed into a solid immovable mass of pure muscle and grit.
Ellie grunted loudly as she bounced off making her stumble backwards over her feet as all of her momentum shifted back on her. As Ellie gained stability over her wobbling legs, she glanced up under her ballcap to see exactly what she had just bumped into which, unfortunately for Ellie was, the dark imposing physic of one very angry Dean Winchester.
Dean cocked his head to the side slightly as the shadow of the alleyway cast over his hard scowling face. He took a slow imposing step towards her, his body severely stiff giving off every indication that he could squash her like bug. Kind of like how a truck could squash an ant. Ellie automatically took a timid step back into the alley keeping her wide brown eyes apprehensively glued to his sullen features that were hard and ridged with severe disgruntlement. Ellie had never seen him look so intensely and silently enraged before and, if Ellie was being truthful about her emotions, it flat-out scared the young girl within her, making her practically shrink and shutter under his glare.
In all her panic to get away, she didn't even think where Dean was and it appeared Dean counted on that very fact.
"D-Dean." Ellie expressed lamely in both surprise and dismay trying to keep the absolute dread she was feeling out of her voice. But her squeaky deliverance utterly failed her and showed her to be exactly what she was which was a deeply worried little girl who was in tremendous trouble.
Dean gave her a brisk humorless tight smirk before wiping it off immediately and plastering back on his immovable glower.
"Ellie." He greeted in response his voice dipping down to a deeply unsettling tone.
"I-I…" Before Ellie could even think to get any useless words out of her mouth Dean reached out and snatched her bicep locking his stiff fingers around the teenager's slim arm. Apparently, not trusting her not to bolt from him again.
Ellie sucked in a breath feeling all the air leave her strained and worked lungs. Ellie's muscles tensed in anticipation half expecting him to turn her to the side and bring his hard palm down swiftly over her backside like he had done before, but, to her surprise, it never came which both relieved and confused her.
Just a moment later, Sam rounded the counter of the alley bringing his long strides to a halt before walking up behind Dean. His broad chest rising and falling from the excursion of chasing after the bold teenager.
Sam huffed out a rough sigh of exasperated air as his critical eyes fell down upon the little girl. His brows were stiff in a firm line as his hazel eyes narrowed sternly on the young teen pinning her with a very displeased look of disappointment and vexation.
Ellie immediately cast her round eyes downward toward the asphalt below her boots unable to take the two imposing glares of the angry Hunters. One was bad enough, but two was downright brutal to the young girl. However, despite her breaking her gaze from them, she could still feel their glares pressing down on her like a heavy daunting weight. Ellie felt her chest swell with uncontrollable hot embarrassment as her cheeks flushed with shame. It was almost impossible for the young teenager to convince herself to feel differently. She had been caught and now she was in deep trouble.
There was a beat of awkward silence that seemed to drag on far longer to Ellie than it actually did.
"We need to find a motel." Dean expressed shortly in deep gruff tone as it was getting too late to drive back. And besides, the tired irritated Hunter did not have the desire or the will to drive anywhere tonight. He wanted to get the little runaway in a private space where he could confine her.
"Fine." Sam bit out briskly before turning sharply and marching back towards the Impala.
Dean lifted up on Ellie's bicep bit before jerking her beside his right hip and quickly tramping after Sam whose long brisk strides had him a couple yards ahead of them. Ellie lengthened and quickened her strides as she strained to keep up with Dean's curt and determined pace. Ellie tilted her head upward slowly daring to peak up above the brim of her hat to glance at the man, who focus was intently in front of him. He did not even a glance in her direction as he continued to march her hastily forward, a look of harsh resolve on his ridged face.
Ellie instantly glanced back down finding the pavement far more pleasant to look at. Ellie's eyebrows raised in grave concern, suddenly, having this foreboding and sickening feeling grow in the pit of her gut that she was not only in serious trouble, but this was Dean showing restraint towards her.
He was holding her arm uncomfortably tight, but she didn't dare risk to confront the man about her complaints. Ellie could practically feel the anger radiating off the man feeling like one wrong move or careless word would send his pot boiling over onto her and that was a dreadful outcome she did not want to provoke. Therefore, keeping self-preservation high on her priority list, Ellie wisely kept her mouth shut and her opinions to herself attempting to keep up as best she could ignoring the discomfort against his unyielding grip.
Once they made it across the street to the Impala, Sam was already switching their bags from the tan Accord to the Impala's trunk. Sam took a swift glance back at them before slamming the trunk shut and marching towards the passenger side door where he stiffly and impatiently waited.
Once Dean had dragged her to the driver side of the Impala, he abruptly halted his strides and maneuvered her so she was directly in facing him. With her shoulders square with his, he let go of her arm and held out his hand palm up in a silent harsh command to hand over the keys to his beloved car.
Ellie cautiously with hesitation glanced up under her ballcap to be met with the same hard unyielding scowl that was downright menacing. Instantly regretting looking at him, Ellie dipped her head back down to the safe view of the man's thick brown boots. Any bravery she once had seemed to be melted away into a puddle of adolescent nerves. She was, in the most plain and simplest of terms, in deep shit.
Ellie reached deep into her side overall pocket and pulled out the Impala's set of twin sliver keys placing it in the man's ridged palm which she noted look imposingly large and calloused. As soon as the keys hit his palm, he briskly closed his fist yanking the keys within his grasp at his side feeling a grave irritation bite at his hot nerves clearly not over the fact that she had stollen his prized car. Baring his heated eyes into the child a beat longer, he swiftly turned to unlocked the front driver's door.
He swung open the door releasing the rest of the locks. When the mechanism clicked indicating that all the locks had been released, Sam instantly yanked opened his door and got in the passenger side only to realize there was no room for his long legs as they were forcibly scrunched up against his chest. The man held out his arms stiffly to the sides of him feeling his lip curled up in an irritated snarl as he took in his awkward position. A weight of aggravation pressed against him, as this little annoyance reiterated the fact that not only did she steal their vehicle, but it reminded him of just how incredibly small and young the little girl was to be driving.
With gritted teeth, Sam strained to reach under the seat awkwardly as he pulled the lever upwards and pressed his weight back against the bench seat sliding it backwards until his legs straightened to a comfortable length. He then snatched the door flinging it shut before swiftly moving Ellie's backpack and duffle bag to the back seat giving the large irked man the room he required.
Dean turned towards Ellie hooking a stiff finger into her side of her overall pocket dragging her towards him making Ellie shuffle her feet reluctantly. Without a word or even a glance at her, he reached in down into her pocket. Ellie muscles tensed as she felt his stiff hand snatch a hold of her switch blade. Dean drew the blade from her pocket before turning away from her and tossing it toward Sam in the passenger seat without a word of warning. Sam turned briefly and snatched the blade swiftly within his right palm without any hesitation or surprise as if he was expecting it.
Ellie couldn't help, but wonder why the man did not just simply ask for the blade as she was in a compliant mood. However, she remembered the last time he asked for it, she told him 'no' and sort of flung out the blade on him. Which in her defense was an accident, but that seemed to weigh little against the Hunter who seemed intolerant and impatient on the subject.
Dean then snatched the handle to the back door pulling it open with a firm yank making Ellie step back away from the swinging door. Ellie instinctively hesitated for a short moment, impulsively prolong the inevitable as she dreaded the consequences of her actions. It was not even half a second of hesitation, but that half a second was, apparently, too long for the impatient Hunter. And before Ellie could even glance up towards the man, she was met with a hard swat to the center of her backside propelling her hips forward and setting her still feet into swift motion. Ellie gasped as she hurriedly scrambled into the back seat feeling the prickling sting seep through the denim of her overalls.
Oh God. Ow.
The swat was heavy handed and undoubtably punishing making Ellie's cheeks blush with dreadful embarrassment as she sat her tingling bottom on the black leather seat. Ellie dipped head down low allowing the brim of her hat and the locks of her straight brown hair to hide her face as she gripped her palms on the edge of the stiff leather bench seat. She hoped to God no one witnessed her get popped on the backside.
Once Ellie's stinging bottom was firmly planted in the seat, Dean flung her door shut with a firm slam before getting into the driver's side. Dean turned the key into the ignition to which he was instantly met with the loud blaring of voices Brooks and Dunn. Sam and Dean's tense body flinched harshly in startlement. Ellie would have been inclined to laugh if the Hunters weren't itching to kill her at any moment. She didn't even dare to crack a smile as there was nothing remotely funny about her current predicament and apparently the irked Hunters didn't think so either. It seemed little aggravations were poking their already edgy tempers dangerously and was not doing Ellie any favors.
Dean slammed his palm against the radio knob cutting the loud music off, instantly bringing them back to the tense and dreadfully disquieting silence. Ellie chewed her bottom lip in a nervous and fidgety manner keeping her eyes glued to the tops of her denim covered thigs allowing the brim of her ballcap to continue to act as a protective shield. Her clammy palms gripped the edge of the bench seat feeling the daunting apprehension twist and fester in her gut.
Dean jerked the Impala into reverse and sped out of the parking lot unnervingly reckless.

Uh oh. I think it's safe to say Ellie is in it deep.
