I was sitting in the plane, next to Ash, who had his Pikachu on his lap. I had my Ralts on my lap as well, I had fallen into the same habit as Ash's of keeping my starter outside at all times. Though, my Ralts has no issue with going back to his Poke Ball, unlike Pikachu. Riley was on the row behind us with Mrs. Ketchum and Professor Oak. They were going to Unova with us, as Professor Oak has some work to do with Professor Juniper. In the meantime, Ash was going through my Pokedex seeing the stadistics of my pokemon team.
"You've been busy this last year," Ash commented with a proud smile, making me blush. "Let's start with your starter first."
My Pokedex electronic voice rang through the private plane. Oh, did I forget to mention that the Unova Ranger Comission had sent us a private plane? Well, they did, because that's what being The Saint gets you.
Pokemon: Ralts.
Gender: Male.
Ability: Synchronize.
Type: Psychic/Fairy.
Move set: Teleport, Double Team, Disarming Voice, Calm Mind, Confusion, Hypnosis, Life Dew.
Egg moves: Shadow Sneak.
NOTE: The egg move has yet to have been unlocked.
"Synchronize, that's a nice ability and Shadow Sneak is a good egg move to have, it gives a nice variaety to the moves types your pokemon can learn. Not to mention, that once he evolves into Gallade it will makke him hard to get a hold on during a battle," Ash hummed, making Ralts blush under his praises. "Now we need to focus on having him learn some damage inflecting moves, he lacks those. Psybeam should be a priority, so is Swift... we could also teach him Draining Kiss. What do you think?" I looked down to Ralts who smiled back, he shared my excitement. We both nodded togather, making Ash smile at us. "Good! Let's move to Mightyena next!"
Pokemon: Mightyena.
Gender: Female.
Ability: Quick Feet.
Type: Dark.
Move set: Tackle, Bite, Dig, Snarl, Sand Attack, Scary Fang, Crunch, Yawn.
Egg moves: Play Rough.
NOTE: The egg move has yet to have been unlocked.
"Good of you to start her on moves outside her pokemon type," Ash praised me. "You also managed to teach her Crunch, with Bite already in her arsenal it should have been easier. Also, teaching her Yawn was a strock of genius, keeping your opponent asleep is a nice startegy when they overpower you. Next we should teach her the elemental fang attacks, Fire Fang, Thunder Fang, and Ice Fang, they will aid her take down pokemon of various types. I'll have my Mightyena tutor her, I'll also bring Sylveon around, maybe he'll aid her unlock her egg move. She's already evolved on her final form and has experience training with you dad, it won't be too soon for her or affect her. I'll also have Pikachu mentore her in learning Iron Tail."
"I would like to teach her Substitute too," I spoke up once I was sure Ash had finished.
"That's a good idea!" Ash exclaimed. "Any of my pokemon can guide her on that move."
"Thank!" I thanked him.
"Now, Shuppet," Ash went for my next pokemon.
Pokemon: Shuppet.
Gender: Male.
Ability: Insomnia.
Type: Ghost.
Move set: Shadow Sneak, Curse, Protect, Substitute, Screech, Pain Split, Night Shade.
Egg moves: Destiny Bond.
NOTE: The egg move has yet to have been unlocked.
"Destiny Bond will by an ace under your sleeve that you will want, it will bring down any pokemon that is too powerful to defeat by just power," Ash commented thoughtful. "You've been teaching your pokemon moves with that in mind, whihc is very smart. As a rookie with unexperienced pokemon, compared to experienced trainers, you'll need to find ways to put a status effect on them, or evade them, or put them to sleep. Will-o-Wisp and Confuse Ray are two moves that you must teach your pokemon, they should be on every ghost pokemon repertoire. At least, any ghost pokemon that can learn them. You should also start teaching him Dark-type moves, like Sucker Punch and Knock Off. Ghost-type pokemon tend to learn them easier than others."
"I will," I replied thoughtful, as I recalled Shuppet watching Mightyena's training with interest in his eyes.
"Fourth pokemon, Shroomish," Ash said, as my Pokedex's robotic voice spoke up.
Pokemon: Shroomish.
Gender: Male.
Ability: Effect Spore.
Type: Grass.
Move set: Tackle, Absorb, Stun Spore, Leech Spore, Headbutt, Growth, Bullet Seed.
Egg moves: Seed Bomb.
NOTE: The egg move has yet to have been unlocked.
"Effect Spore... ha! You've really won the jackpot when it comes to abilities," Ash laughed. "Seed Bomb as an egg move, it was smart to teach him Bullet Seed then, it will aid him unlock Seed Bomb sooner. We should move on that as soon as he evolved into a Breloom. Let's also teach him Poison Powder and Toxic, with Absorb he'll make a quick work on his opponents. Protect and Double Team too, maybe Grass Knot as well. We'll wait for Fighting-type moves until he evolves, then I'll have Primeape take him as his aprentice. He'll learn alongside Hitmontop." I was giddy at the news, Shroomish will love that! After all, his favorite pokemon in Ash's team is Primeape! "We'll move to your newest pokemon, Pikachu... I still can't believe there's another Pikachu in my group of friends."
Pokemon: Pikachu.
Gender: Male.
Ability: Static.
Type: Electric.
Move set: Tackle, Nuzzle, Thunder Shock, Charm, Quick Attack, Thunder Wave, Swift.
Egg moves: Volt Tackle.
NOTE: The egg move has yet to have been unlocked.
"That's a good base start for Pikachu, but you'll need something against Ground-types or it will be a one move knock out for sure," Ash hummed. "I'll have your Pikachu join Mightyena in learning Iron Tail, he'll also need to learn Dig. Pikachu will aid him like he did with Dawn's Pachirisu, Spark, Double Team, Electro Ball, Thunderbolt. Pikachu's are not meant to take hits so he'll need to become fast and soon, Agility will be a good move to have. As for not taking hits, Substitute and Protect are good. His stamina and strength his also need work... not to mention, the electric capacity of his pouch. Their capacity can grow day by day, if trained correctly." Ash's Pikachu sighed and poked his cheek. Ash stopped talking and looked down to his starter, who was giving him Mrs. Ketchum look. That brought him to a stop and he slowly turned to us with an apologetical smile. "Sorry, I got excited there. Let's move on, next is Chikorita!"
Pokemon: Chikorita.
Gender: Male.
Ability: Overgrow.
Type: Grass.
Move set: Tackle, Razor Leaf, Poison Powder, Synthesis, Magical Leaf, Reflect, Light Screen, Body Slam, Nature Powder, Double Team, Substitute, Protect.
Egg moves: Leaf Storm.
NOTE: The egg move has yet to have been unlocked.
There was a pause, one filled with stunned silence.
"I feel like I should be apologizing for this," Ash said with hesitance. You could clearly see a huge difference between the pokemon trained by me and the one trained by Ash's pokemon. Wasn't he born only a year ago?! What did they do with the poor Grass-type?! "I honestly don't know what to tell you... teach him Aromatherapy for sure, Meganium is a great addition to my team with her healing abilities. A healer will also be needed in a team. Then again I am sure Meganium would want to introduce her own son in the world of healing. He could joing Mightyena and Pikachu on their Iron Tail classes. We could teach him Energy Ball too. He should have evolved by then."
"I see, thank you Ash! Those are great ideas!" I thanked my mentor with a smile.
Before he could say anything in return, the captain announced we had reached Unova. We all turned to look through the window with excitement.
"There it was! Unova! So beautiful!" Ralts exclaimed through our telepathic link.
Ash bid us goodbye as soon as we landed, there was a group of Ace Rangers waiting for him. He would join us at Professor Juniper's Lab, but until then we would be on our own. Without Ash it should be a calm trip there...
I just had to jinx it, didn't I?! I exclaimed in my head, as a thunder was falling down towards us.
