"Are you ready to go back home buddy?" I smiled at the unique pokemon, I had hidden in one of the many deserted islands in the Orange Archipelago. "We are taking you back home soon."
Ash, still, could not believe that it had been a month since one of the strangest experiences of his life has happened. This is me we are talking about people! Ash Ketchum! That's saying a lot...
I should explain this better, for that let's go back a month ago.
"Are you ok?" Director Clavell asked me with concern. We were traveling to the Paldea region for work in the Orange Archipelago Pokemon League's private plane. The perks of being a future champion. "You seem quite focused on your Pokedex."
"I was planning on making a training program for my Flying-type pokemon, as I will be focusing even more of my time and effort into training my Flying-type pokemon during my journey through Kalos," I informed him.
"Ah, yes, for your Flying Mastery," Director Clevell hummed wiith a beaming smile. "It always warms my heart to see young people to continue to strive to do better and become stronger."
"Well, one of the reasons why I am accompanying you to Paldea is to meet with Elite Four Larry, the strongest Flying Master at the moment. I want to get some pointers from him, before challenging him next year," I steered the topic of conversaation, feeling my cheeks burn in embarrassment from the praise. "Shut up!" I hissed quietly at Pikachu, who was snickering at me.
"What's the issue then?" Director Clavell asked with an amused smile, which made me blush even more.
"Well, I had not realized how many Flying-type pokemon I have until now..." I answered sheepishly.
"You did not?!" Pikachu turned to me astonished. "You collect them as it is a hobby and do not even take the care to keep track?!"
"I do not do it on propuse!" I defended myself. "How was I suppose to realize I have seventeen Flying-type pokemon?!"
Pidgeot, Charizard, Dragonite, Noctowl, Swellow, Skarmory, Altaria, Staraptor, Gliscor, Rowlet, Unfezant, two Butterfree, Articuno, Moltres, Zapdos, and Lugia... even I realize how insane I am numbering all of these pokemon.
When did I turn into those trainers whose teams are packed as Distortion World?
"Seventeen?!" Director Clevell exclaimed with wide-open eyes. "That's quite a number for someone who does not specialize in Flying-type pokemon."
"It is the biggest amount of one same type of pokemon father has," Lucario, my precious but unfaithful son, agreed. "What?" He questioned when I shot him a betrayed look. "It is true father. What's even more amusing is that you are mostly known for uncle Pikachu, but you only have four Electric-type pokemon."
"That is true!" Pikachu jumped, with mock indignation. "I am your starter! I demand more Electric-type pokemon for my pack!"
"In the Paldea region we have a pokemon named Kilowattrel, they are a dual Electric/Flying-type," Director Clevell informed us.
"Are you seeing the same as me?" Pikachu whispered to Lucario in astonishment.
"I do," Lucario agreed, with the same tone of wonder in his voice.
"His eyes are glowing with aura because of his excitement!" Pikachu hissed, but I ignored him- Electric/Flying-type echoing in my head. "He has an issue!"
"I am blaming you as well for this," Lucario told his uncle. "You just had to go and demand a new pokemon."
"I was joking!" Pikachu exclaimed, defending himself.
Luckily, he was saved by the pilot announcing that we had finally reached the Paldea region. First impressions, beautiful. It was loud, colorful, and had wonderful food. I love it here! The first thing I did was catch a Wattrel, I love raising pokemon from their first stages to the end. Especially, Flying-type pokemon! I am so excited! A dual Electric/Flying-type pokemon! Director Clavell even took me to where they raise their starters and showed them to me. When one of them got quite friendly with me, he decided to give him to me. Guys! I have a Fuecoco! That makes it up for all the teasing I got from Pikachu about breaking my vow of not getting anymore starters. Anyways, everyone knew I was lying to myself! Can this get any better?!
The answer to that, is no.
I knew that skipping the New Tork City invasion would come back to bite me in the ass.
"Why is it always me?!" I whines, as Utau, Rodrick, Rose, and Director Clavell followed me through Area Zero.
When Director Colvell and I met with the region's Elite Four and Champion, they ended up telling us that they needed out help. Of course, they did! Everyone needs my help nowadays! Can't I get a break? Is that too much to ask for? Oh, well, I ended up agreeing of course. I can't turn down someone in need. The issue came when Director Calvell decided to follow me. After all, the one in need of help was an old friend of his, Professor Ada. I think I need to explain this better. Let's go back in time a couple of hours back.
"Professor Ada is missing?!" Director Calvell exclaimed in shock, after Champion Geeta explained the situation to us.
"Yes, she had secluded herself in Area Zero for some reason a month ago but has stopped contacting us a week ago," Champion Geeta informed us.
"That's worrisome," I commented. "I do not know the Paldea region as much as I would like to, but from what Director Calvell has told me, Area Zero is the most dangerous one."
"We warn students every year about never going there," Director Calvell agreed. "Even though researchers need to go there for their investigations, we make sure they always have rangers with them and never stay for far too long. What in the name of Arceus was she thinking?! Staying over a month there? Secluded and without any back up?! Arceus! What am I going to tell her son?"
"Nothing, because we do not know that anything has happened," I calmed him down. Since when am I the voice of reason?! "We'll go there and find her."
"Going only the two of you will be dangerous," Champion Geeta warned me. "Area Zero is a place even I am careful."
"We will be," I assured her. "Also, we won't be alone. I have an Elite Four with me and two Head Rangers."
"You brought a contingency team with you?" Champion Geeta raised an eyebrow, and I could feel through my aura that she did not know if she should feel insulted by it.
"Don't take it personally," I sighed. "We do not have any Psychic-type pokemon that know the region and could teleport back up in a case of need. And let's just say I have... bad luck when it comes to new regions."
"Because you have the worst luck I have ever known, sir," Rodrick answered unmercifully.
"Don't we all know it," Rose giggled.
"Shut it!" I commanded, but only received laughs in return. "Ah, let's just get this over with." Just as I said those words, a huge pokemon jumped in front of us, before collapsing. "Really?! Is this how you want to play Arceus?! Is it that you enjoy making my life difficult?! Is that it?!"
"Ok drama queen, that's enough!" Utau slapped the back of my head, before going to help the collapsed pokemon. "Director Clavell, I do not know this pokemon. Can you tell us about them and how to heal them?"
"I... I do not know this pokemon either," Director Clavell stuttered. "How... what... did you really achieve it Ada?"
"Achieve what?" I turned to him suspiciously. "You know what, let's focus on one thing at the time. Meganium! Come on out and heal this pokemon!" I released the healer of my group and watched as the pokemon regained consciousness slowly. "Now," I turned to the director, as I knew that the strange pokemon was safe in the care of Meganium, and raised an eyebrow. "Want to tell us about what your friend was trying to do here in Area Zero? What you seem to believe she had achieved?"
"Ada has always been obsessed with legendary and mythical pokemon of the past, long lost to Paldea's history and now believed to be simply stories. No fossils left to revive them from... I, myself, was not sure they existed," Director Clavell sighed. "But Ada was sure of it. She wanted to meet them with an obsession I've never seen before... so, she planned to invent a time machine to get them back."
"Of course, she did," I sighed. "We can't ever get a normal mission can we? It always involves legendary pokemon, or time travel, or criminal syndicates, or inavsions... ah, why us?!" I whined, not caring that I was whining.
I was tired!
"Because you are The Chosen One," Pikachu reminded me. "And you dragged us into your mess when you decided to capture us."
"So, we agree to blame Arceus for this, right?" I turned to my starter.
"Totally," Pikachu nodded his head.
"He sucks," I sighed.
"100%," Pikachu agreed.
"Let's get this over with," I repeated, this time pausing in case something else jumps on us. Nothing did, so I counted it as a win. One of the few I would get today. The more we descended into Area Zero, the more strange pokemon we met. But I would take those pokemon over what we found in the main lab. "Shit!"
"Ada!" Director Clavell exclaimed, in tears, as he knelt over the dead body of his old friend. "Oh, my dear, look what they did to you."
"Captain," Utau whispered to me with a glare. "Look at those claw marks."
"I noticed, they are similar to our new friend," I replied, turning to the orange pokemon that has been following us since Meganium had healed him. "But it was not him. So..."
"There must be another one," Utau deduced. "One that is a killer and tried to off this one too. Great!"
"Ah, you can use sarcasm too," I chuckled. "Good to know."
"You get used to it, after going to so many missions with you," Utau rolled her eyes at me. "It has become a defense mechanism to all the craziness I've observed."
"You do not know half of it," I scoffed, before turning to the where Rodrick and Rose were going through Professor Ada's research. "What have you found?"
"Well, she did invent time travel without the aid of Celebi," Rodrick answered me, looking quite impressed. "However, it does not allow to transport humans without destroying their bodies. It does, however, allow for Poke Balls to be thrown in the past and catch the extinct pokemon."
"That, however, had it's own issues," Rose winced.
"What do you mean?" Utau asked her in concern.
"It seems that the time machine's geographic GPS was not very good," Rose frowned. "She ended up catching various pokemon from the Sinnoh region, pokemon of a past long extinct."
"Peachy," I facepalmed. "So, we have pokemon from Paldea and Sinnoh that should not be in our time and we do not know how they'll react to our enviroment."
"Hisui," Rose corrected me.
"What?" I asked her confused.
"The Sinnoh region used to go by the name of Hisui," Rose explained. "So, they are Hisui Pokemon."
"Ok, Hisui Pokemon! Happy!" I snapped. "Lugia! I hate technicalities!"
"What are we going to do?" Utau turned to me, waiting for my instructions.
"What else does her research say?" I aksed the two Head Rangers.
"Well, most of the pokemon she had brought back seem to be meek and do not cause much trouble. They've gotten used to Area Zero and do not seem to have any difficulties addapting to the area," Rodrick read the research paper. "But those from Hisui do not like it here."
"So, we leave these pokemon in the care of the Elite Four and Champion Geeta," I told them. "Maybe they'll turn the whole area into a natural reserve and say that they simply found various fossil which they revived. That's what I am planning on doing with the Hisui pokemon. I'll call Cynthia and talk to her, there are quite a few desserted islands in the Orange Archipelago. We can recolcate the Hisui pokemon there."
"That's a good plan," Utau agreed. "What about..." she turned to the time mahcine. "And..." she then looked at the orange pokemon.
"We will detsroy the machine and every piece of research about it, there are things we cannot play around with. One of them is time," I frowned. "As for... what's their name?"
"His name is Koraidon," Rose answered me.
"As for Koraidon, I will take him with me to the islands and train him for a little bit. His pride has been destroyed by his defeat and he will need to regain it somehow. As for the other one running aorund, we can't put him down for following the instincts of an era he came from. Back then it was kill or be killed. We will catch him and send him back, then we will destroy the machine. Wait... can't we just send all of them back?"
"We can't," Rose winced apologetically. "The pokemon were caught with a Poke Ball and their psychic was changed because of the Poke Balls."
"They are made to make pokemon more friendly," Utau agreed.
"The pokemon won't survive back in the past," Rodrick frowned. "However, the violent Koraidon, jumped through a time portal, following a Poke Ball to the future... well, our present." He glared at the papers on his hand. "Maybe that's why he is more violent compared to the rest of the pokemon."
"So, we can get him back, that's good," I sighed, before frowning. "For now, we better help Director Clavell, he had just lost a friend."
So, that's what we did. We caught Koraidon and sent him back to the past. Detsroyed the time machine and kept the secret between the four of us, not even the Elite Four or Champion knew about it. Champion Geeta followed my advice and made Area Zero and nature reserve. I had to go back to my islands with many new pokemon, leaving Director Clavell in Paldea. He had to take care of the funeral and fill some paperwork to adopt Professor Ada's orphan son.
Poor kid...
As for the Hisui Pokemon, I put them in a desserted island next to the islands of Articuno, Moltres, and Zapdos. With them around and with Cynthia assuring me that she will keep an eye on them, I could breath with ease. Also, no one was taking chances in the archipelago, after the news of all over five regions and two islands groups broadcasted the burning ships of broken smuglers and poachers. What? They had pissed me off and I might have given my pokemon cart blanch.
Talking about Cynthia (What? I am not changing the topic of conversation! Not at all!) was sure over the moon. She loves history and arquilogy. Getting to meet pokemon long thought lost, we was quite giddy. Especially after I ended up catching quite a few of them. Many had issues with that. Not with the Hisui Zorua, but with the Hisui Rowlet, Hisui Oshawott, and Hisui Cyndaquil.
Yes, there are Hisui forms of various starters. Which was added to the starters rotation group in the Naranja Academy. The Hisui forms of the starters will be given to the top scorers, but the pokemon will also choose who to go with. However, that will not happen until they had repopulated enough and are no longer in the brink of extinction.
However, they being only a few was not the issue. I am the Champion of the region, or I will be, so I have some more liberties than others. The issue was that I had sworn to never get another starter.
"You do not go small, do you parter?" Pikachu sighed fondly, as we herded Koraidon to the cargo plane to Paldea. "If you break something, even a vow made jokingly, you do it big. Four regional starters... I hope you know that you deserve all the teasing you will get."
"I know," I sighed resigned. "I am quite aware."
