Sometime I do not know if my mom loves me, or if she only cares about her career as a Rhyhorn racer. I never cared about following on her footsteps, if anything I am quite against it. I've told her so many times, so many times that I've given up on trying to make her understand. Not when all she tells me, is that I just need to give it a go.
I already did! And I hate it! I whined internally. Why can't you understand that? Is it that you do not care about what I want? Do you... do you even love me?
So, it came to no one surprise, but my mother's, when I decided to leave home and start my pokemon journey. I do not care mucha about it, but thanks to my mom who homeschooled me, I had finished with the high school program and was free to start my journey. I just needed to leave her and her constant pushing. Since we moved from Kanto to Kalos, she had not made a single friend. All I did was take care of the Rhyhorns, study, and practice. It left no time to make friends or socialize.
I hated it all... I hated her...
So, when I saw the news that Ash was in Kalos, I took my chance and set off to search him. He was the last friend I made... my first crush. But I know now that my feeling were not corresponded, not when everyone knows he is gay and in a relationship with Gary Oak. It hurt at first, but I've moved on. I only wanted to meet a childhood friend now, maybe he could help me find out what I want to do with my life.
"Welcome to my lab!" Professor Sycamore, greeted me with a big smile. "Here to pick up a starter? We have a great selection!"
I smiled and nodded as he presented me with the three starters, but I was not really listening to him. I came with a choice in mind and no one was changing that. It was my choice, not my mother's or anyone else's.
After making my choice and setting off on my journey, I had a calm journey to Santalune City. Not counting a scary meeting with a Vespiquen, but Fennekin was right there to scare her away.
"Oh, I totally forgot about reading yout stats!" I exclaimed, as I was entering the city. "My pokedex can do that. Let's see what we will be working with!"
Fennekin, the Fox Pokemon. A Fire-type pokemon. Eating a twig fills it with energy, and its roomy ears give vent to air hotter than 390 degrees Fahrenheit.
Pokemon: Fennekin.
Gender: Female.
Ability: Blaze.
Type: Fire.
Move set: Ember, Scratch, Hidden Power, Quick Attack, and Tackle.
Egg moves: Wish.
NOTE: The egg move has yet to have been unlocked.
"Not bad at all!" I whistled impressed, as Fennekin preened under my praise. "You are so cool! We will have so much fun!" I exclaimed in joy. "But for now, we need to look out for Ash. Where will he be? If I recall correctly, he is mentoring a gym trainer, then they should be in the Santalune City Gym! Where is it?" I wondered around for a little bit, until found the place and entered. "There they are!"
I was so happy to see them there, Ash and Gary were sitting on the stands, with the Aura Knight that travels with Ash, that I've seen in the news. There were a guy, Ash's age, and a young girl, both blond. The little boy that travels with Ash, Max if I am not wrong, is already waiting on the battlefield. Ash had a Flecthling on his shoulder, his Pikachu on his lap, and his Lucario next to him. The little girl had the cutest pokemon on her lap, while the boy, clearly her brother, had a brown bunny next to him.
"What kind of pokemon are they?" I asked Fennekin, who tilted her head confused. "I guess you wouldn't know either," I chuckled. "Let's ask my pokedex."
Dedenne, the Antena Pokemon. An Electric and Fairy-type pokemon. Their whiskers serve as antennas. By sending and receiving electrical waves, they can communicate with others over vast distances.
"That pokemon is a fairy?" I raised an eyebrow, before turning my pokedex to the brown pokemon.
Bunnelby, the Digging Pokemon. A Ground-type pokemon. They have ears like shovels. Digging holes strengthens their ears so much that they can sever thick roots effortlessly.
"Well, those ears do look, quite powerful," I hummed impressed.
"The Santalune City Gym battle will begin!" The referee called out, snapping me out of my contemplation and had me turning to focus on the battlefield. "It will be a 2 on 2 battle, only the challenger can redraw their pokemon. The battle will come to an end when one side does not have any pokemon left to battle. Are you ready?" Gym Leader and challenger excalimed in affirmation, making my blood pump in excitement. "Let the battle begin!"
"Surskit!/Scraggy!" Both trainers released their pokemon at the same time.
"Surskit, use Ice Beam!" The Gym Leader commanded, converting the Gym into a frozen battlefield. Poor Scraggy could not get a hold of himself, the floor was too slippery. Surskit used it to her favour, ice-skating around with rapid speed, hitting Scraggy from all sides, over and over again, with Quick Attack. "Let's finish this! One last Quick Attack!" But right before the attack could land, Scraggy's body shone orange before headbutting Surskit and sending her flying. "Surskit!" The Gym Leader exclaimed, shocked and worried.
"Both pokemon are unable to battle, you each have one pokemon left!" The referee announced. "Please return your pokemon and release your next one!"
"Counter! Smart move!" The Gym Leader smiled, returning her pokemon.
"Thank you!" Max smiled back, blushing pleased by the praise, returning his pokemon as well.
"But you will need more than to defeat me!" Viola announced. "Vivillon, I choose you!"
"Wow!" I gasped, awed by the beauty of the pokemon before me.
I silently pulled out my pokedex and scanned it.
Vivillon, the Scale Pokemon. A Bug and Flying pokemon. Vivillon with many different patterns are found all over the world. These patterns are affected by the climate of their habitat. This Vivillon's form is the Meadow Pattern.
"Different forms depending the habitat? So beautiful," I murmured, stunned. "I want one..."
"Then I'm gonna choose Litleo!" Max exclaimed, throwing his second Poke Ball.
"A Litleo? You got him from Route 22 outside of the city, right?" Viola inquired.
"I needed a Fire-type," Max answered, before getting ready to battle. "Let's do this Litleo! Ember!"
"Put it out with Gust!" Viola countered, and the blazing fire was put down by a powerful Gust attack. Those are some strong wings! "Follow it up with Stun Spore!"
"Burn it away with Fire Spin!" Max countered. "Now use Quick Attack to get close!" Litleo moved as swift as the wind, before jumping up and getting on Vivillon's face. "Ember!" This time the attack hit point blank, knocking Vivillion from the air. I winced as she crashed on the ground. "Emeber again! Don't let up!" Poor Vivillion could not keep up under the constant embers and ended up fainting. "All right!"
"Vivillion is unable to battle, which means that Litleo and Max are the winners of the battle!" The referee called out. "The winner of the challenge is Max!"
"Congratulations!" Viola laughed, returning her pokemon and approaching the celebrating duo. "Here you go! The Bug Badge! I recommend going for the Cyllage City Gym next."
"We will!" Max promised, beaming.
I found totally adorable how Max turned to the stands to show off his badge at Ash, who smiled proudly at the boy. I slowly left the gym and headed out, my plan was to meet them in the Pokemon Center, not to look like a stalker. Famous people like Ash and Gary go through enough already, I do not want to raise any suspicions from them.
That was the plan, until I saw a Scutterbug right out of the gym. "Fennekin! Quick, use Ember!"
"Fenne!" My starter exclaimed in determination, before spatting a ball of fire right at the unaware Scutterbug.
"Poke Ball go!" I threw a Poke Ball and waited nervously as it shook around. "All right!" I exclaimed excitedly, as the Poke Ball did the ping sound.
"Congrats!" I squeaked, startled. I turned around rapidly, to come face to face with a beaming Ash. "Was that your first catch?"
"Y-yes, how did you know?" I stuttered surprised.
"The joy in your face was one that can only be described as that," Ash answered. I gasped when I noticed his eyes glowing blue for a second. Was that aura? "You were inside? Are you interested in challenging Viola too?"
"No, I... I do not know what I want to do yet," I confessed.
"Would you like to come with us then?" Ash offered, much to my surprise.
"That easy?!" I exclaimed in disbelief.
"That easy," Ash chuckled. "I just feel like you are meant to come with us. Would you like to?"
"Yes!" I answered, excitedly.
"Wait a second?" Gary frowned, looking me up and down. "Don't I know you? I know now! You came to my gramps Summer Pokemon Camp with us one time!"
I laughed startled, of course the one that recognized me would be the one that won the heart of my crush.
Typical!
