Hello, dear listeners! Good to see you all again, and I apologize for the wait last chapter. As I'm writing I'm going to try and not do that to you guys again. However, if you have to wait again, please try to be patient and understanding. Thank you. Once more, thank you all for your support. It means a lot!
IceNeo: The way I have it planned it's more like he has the DNA of a kryptonian but it developed like a quirk. I can't explain it better than that, I'm afraid.
Critical Darling: Worry not, my friend! I don't plan to.
Ninjafang: Ah, Ninja, you always know what to say.
Animefan: Ngl, it's hard not to picture the Super Solar Flare like that because that's basically what it is. Just instead of releasing your life force and turning it into a violent weapon, you're releasing your solar power and turning it into a violent weapon.
Blandusername: That assessment is accurate. Back when I first started, I just knew that I had to start writing or else the idea would just kinda fade from my head. I didn't want that to happen, so… yeah. I'm trying to do better with this, as you can see, that entire part was honestly a slip up on my part. Actually lemme see if i can rewrite that part later. And it's more of everyone kinda knows he isn't quirkless except Bakugo because Midoriya doesn't really show it off.
…
Yeah, no, that explanation makes no sense. probably gonna rewrite those chapters. But I do actually have an excuse for the struggling part, and that's because he hasn't ever actually tried to push against anything with the weight of the zero pointer. He's carried a lot, yeah, but the natural weight of the zero pointer combined with the fact that it was pushing down would have been a first for Midoriya. Also this is going to sound like sucking up but I really liked your Manipulator story. Concept and execution were good. Anyways, Thanks for the review!
Notasavior: Thank you, my guy! Yeah, seeing as I don't really have anyone to check my work, I'm noticing a lot more spelling errors on my part. I said before that I'm definitely going to try and catch them.
Mandoraekon: Yes, she got away from Mr. Plague Doctor early.
Disappointed: Actually, no? Yes, he does have Doomsday elements. Hopefully I'll be able to explain that later, but no, he's not Doomsday. If it was the actual doomsday the story would have been over just like that, seeing as there's been no room for growth or anything like that.
P.S. I apologize if the quality seems off.
Now, onto the story!
Midoriya.. felt like he was in a dream. It had been a bit since his meeting with the other users of One for All. The second and third users were nowhere to be seen, the First saying that they were normally like this. Then he mentioned how there was also the original owner somewhere, but she rarely shows up. Ever. Nana and the first were truthfully the only ones he could hold a conversation with.
But focusing on the here and now, he saw none of them. In fact, it wasn't a void. He was in a city, bustling with people. Wh-?
And then the blur came. A red, blue, and gray blur slammed into the road, causing a crater to form. The dust cleared, and Izuku saw a man and.. Nomu?! No. This was a different beast. Boney spikes and armor littered it's body, and it's face was more human-like, even with the sharp teeth and lipless mouth. The man slammed his fists into the beast, it returning blow for blow. The ground shook violently until the man landed one final blow of the hulking figure before him, but his opponent doing the same. Izuku felt his heroic urge surge, and he ran towards the man, attempting to catch him as he fell. He failed, the man passing straight through Izuku and falling into a woman's arms. People stood around, utterly shocked. Some of them looked like heroes. None of them were as injured as the man.
And then something clicked. There was a symbol on his chest. Izuku moved, positioned himself differently, and recognized it immediately, his eyes widening. On this man's chest, there was a big, Red, S. He recognized that symbol. The.. memory, it felt like, faded into nothing, before a blinding doorway opened, a man with a billowing cape behind him coming through. The silhouette of the man exuded a feeling to Izuku, a feeling of Hope. It stopped a few feet from him, and looked slightly down at him.
"You'll be a great hero, Izuku. But the first step is waking up."
And awake he did.
When Recovery Girl entered the infirmary to check on Midoriya, she wasn't expecting to see him awake (which was good) and floating off of his bed. It seemed he wasn't expecting it eithert, the boy looking at her in confusion, before visibly trying to concentrate hard enough to un-float himself. He stayed like this for a bit, before his arms fell back and he let out a loud sigh….
Before he promptly fell and landed on the bed with a crack, the boy letting out a cry of pain his hand went to his side. It seemed he wasn't fully healed yet. No matter. Now that he was awake, Recovery Girl walked over and gave him a kiss, healing the broken rib easily. After calling some people, like his mother (who sobbed happily), Aizawa (who promised punishment), and All Might (who promptly came over to help Midoriya get back to his dorm), Midoriya began to get back to his dorm. Along the way, All Might was thinking. The giant of a man let out a sigh, before putting a hand on Midoriya's shoulder, causing the boy to stop and look up at him confused.
"Young Midoriya…" All Might began, before closing his eyes, sighing. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry I did not get there in time." Midoriya's eyes widened, and he waves his hands out in front of himself frantically.
"N-No All Might, it's fine! Your time limit is important, I understand!" All Might looked at Young Midoriya, sighing again.
"Young Midoriya, I want you to know… I am proud of you, son."
"Thanks Dad."
Both of them smiled at each other, before a record scratched, both of their smiles dropping as they just realized what they called each other. Both immediately gained a small distance, laughing nervously, apologizing and laughing even harder when they interrupted each other. After an awkward silence, they finally managed to reach the entrance to Heights Alliance. All Might left in a hurry, causing Midoriya to turn, question marks appearing over his head. He then turned back to the entrance before walking inside. It was quiet inside, making him think the others had gone somewhere. There was a thrumming though. He walked into the common room, walking towards the stairs when he heard the smallest cracking of glasses.
Dread overtook Midoriya in a split second, his hearing now identifying what the thrumming was. It was heartbeats. 21 heartbeats, to be precise. He slowly turned his head, finding himself the subject of twenty pairs of eyes. He inhaled, mustering a smile. Might as well rip off the bandaid.
"Hey g—"
"DEKU/MIDORIYA/IZUKU/MIDORI-" Midoriya was tackled, barely managing to hold himself up as several blurs attached themselves to him, followed by many questions and praise. Mostly if he was okay, some complimenting him for how cool he was during the whole ordeal, and in Katsuki's case…
"YOU MORON!" Bakugo brought a hand down on Midoriya's head, causing the boy to yelp as he reached up. It was more out of shock than pain, and judging by Katsuki holding his hand, he guessed that it hurt Katsuki much more than it hurt him. "WHY DID YOU GO RUSHING OFF INTO BATTLE LIKE THAT?!" Midoriya understood what he was talking about in a split second.
"Well, if I hadn't, Shigaraki would have injured Tsuyu, or worse-"
"YOU LITERALLY ENDED UP IN A COMA!" Katsuki yelled in response, the two boys in a verbal standoff. At least, until Midoriya was snapped out of it by seeing a completely new figure. She had light skin, and blue hair, most noticeably two major strands over her face. Her eyes were a vibrant blue. This understandably took Midoriya off guard, not recognizing her in the slightest. He pointed over to her, raising an eyebrow. "Who's that?"
The entire class was caught off guard by this statement, turning around to see a pair of floating clothes. To Midoriya, he could see that she looked hurt emotionally. Mina turned towards Midoriya, blinking, before raising an eyebrow.
"Midori, I don't know how hard you got your head hit, but that's Hagakure."
"But isn't Hagakure invisible??" Okay, NOW he was really confused. The rest of the class, including Bakugo, gave him a look of disbelief.
"Midoriya," Iida coughed into his hand, before he blinked several times. "She's still invisible. Are you telling us that you see someone in her place?"
Midoriya gave a small nod, confused himself. 'So.. that was Hagakure? But how can I see her? I did gain slight control over his flight, being able to turn it off, but this is something else. Did I unlock new abilities with my quirk? Is she on a different light spectrum, and now I can see it? Considering my X-ray vision, and heat vision, further eye abilities aren't entirely possible. Also, wow, she looks pretty.'
Hagakure's small gasp cut Midoriya out of his thoughts. He looked up at the class and felt his soul leave his body. Ashido was wearing a cheshire smile, and Shoka and Momo had small looks of betrayal on their face, while Uraraka gave off a menacing aura. Kyoka didn't seem to care much. He snapped his attention to the now visible girl and saw that she was blushing. Oh. Oh he said that all out loud, didn't he?
"I.. was muttering again, wasn't I?" Midoriya asked slowly, to which Bakugo, a huge grin present on his face, looked him dead in the eyes and said, "Yes, you just said that all aloud, Deku."
Izuku wished the Nomu had killed him.
Midoriya held up a comic in his hands, staring in disbelief at the cover. He had long since learned english just so he could actually read the comics from America. In his hands was an Issue of Superman. The symbol on his chest was the same. His hair. Body style. Everything from the dream matched up with the actual character. Midoriya began his research immediately, gently setting down the comic and leaping over to a Laptop on his desk. His powers and Superman's were essentially the same, along with what they had for Hero costumes, even if Midoriya didn't realize until now. Midoriya was so deep in his research he barely registered the knock from his door. He stopped, blinking as he realized it was getting dark out. He went over to his door and opened it, surprised to see.. Hagakure? Yeah, it was Hagakure he saw. She was looking down, holding her arms.
"Uh… Hi, Hagakure. What's up?"
"You can see me?" She barely whispered, but Midoriya heard the words. He inhaled, and nodded. "Yeah, I can see you, Hagakure." She stilled at that, before looking up at him with a wobbly smile. She seemed to be on the verge of tears. Midoriya took a step foward, his eyes widening as he thought he did something wrong, before she slammed into him, grabbing onto him and pulling him into a tight hug. Midoriya hugged her back instinctively, his mind running at a million miles per second before she pulled back, looking up at him with that wobbly smile, though the tears were gone now.
"That makes me happy. Thank you, Midori." Midoriya gave a small smile, nodding his head. "I do what I can."
Hagakure looked down, twiddling her thumbs. "So, uh, we ordered pizza. It's here, so I thought I'd get you," Hagakure told Midoriya, to which his smile grew.
"Alright, then we should get going before the pizza gets cold, right?" To this, Hagakure gave a nod, before her bouncy attitude seemed to return as she grabbed Midoriya's hand and led him out of his room, the boy's face flaring with a rosey shade as she gripped his hand.
She led him downstairs, to which he was surprised as they celebrated his recovery. Bakugo was still pissed at him, but showed he still cared in his own way. The pizza was good, the party was great. Midoriya had good friends, And he felt content. He slept well that night. Well, besides a few hiccups here and there.
Shoka would never say it out loud, but it was obvious. She wasn't as good at this whole emotions thing. Neither was her brother. Both siblings would place blame on their father. Their father was the reason mother had snapped.. why Shoka had a scar. She hadn't been the one to hear anything, no. That was Shoto. She just happened to walk in at the wrong time.. at least her brother didn't have a permanent reminder of it. Shoka unconsciously moved her hand up, touching the red mark, before bringing her hand down.
Anyways, the point is, she isn't good with emotions. But she is sure of one thing, and that is that Izuku Midoriya was something else. From what she understood, it was something called a crush. She didn't know why she had one on Midoriya.. or, at least, didn't until the USJ. It's because he has something no one else has; The determination to win no matter what. That feeling of safety and comfort he gave off. Well… when he didn't look like he could die at any second, that is. And that, right there, is why she found herself outside Midoriya's door, knocking on it. She wasn't one to wake up in panic normally. No, but somehow, she found herself waking up drenched in a cold sweat because she had a nightmare where the green haired boy did die.
She felt her heartbeat calm down several smidges when Midoriya answered the door, his green eyes blinking in what Shoka could only imagine to be confusion.
And now she was confused too. Because she didn't think this far ahead. She will let her instincts do the talking.
"Can I sleep in here tonight?"
Instincts bad.
The green haired boy only seemed to blink before he yawned into his hand, taking a step back. She walked in, surprised that worked, before seeing immediately why that didn't surprise him. In his chair was Shinso, passed out and head on his desk. Leaning against the wall, somehow sleeping while standing, was Bakugo. On his bed was Ochaco and Momo. Ochaco was at the foot of the bed while Momo slept against the wall. Shoka figured out that she could sleep in the middle.
"Yeah…" Midoriya commented, sounding like he didn't have a care in the world. Shoka would blame it on the fact that he sounded incredibly tired. She also needed to test this to see if he was always like this. She could take advantage of this si— Shoka immediately put that thought down like a rabid dog. "Turns out... having friends means they care about you."
Shoka tried not to laugh at that.
"So.. just choose wherever. I'm… going to sleep." And with that declaration, the tall boy carefully got into bed, making sure not to kick Ochaco. Shoka blinked a few times, before deciding exactly where she wanted to sleep.
Midoriya would wake up to find Shoka holding him in her sleep. No, he didn't let out a yelp of surprise. He just let out a high pitched noise. And no, he didn't let out another yelp when he realized that there were in fact two other girls on his bed, nor did he wish to die when Bakugo opened his eyes and began laughing immediately. He just felt a dip in confidence, is all.
Now, what was Aizawa's punishment for the Greenette? Why, it was actually three! One was logical, according to Aizawa. He already knew that this would be a recurring theme. Don't ask him why he knows that, or why he believes it. His only response is "Because, Problem Child. You remind me of a certain blonde buffoon, and I'd rather have you prepared when you run off."
The first one was, of course, training. But not just any training. No, from what Aizawa said, it should be challenging. Midoriya didn't know if it would actually be challenging but he hoped so. He said it would start after the Festival. The second one was that he had to complete a five page essay on why Heroes-in-training are in training and are not heroes yet. The third one was that he was now to help out Class 1-B with training and heroics class. That would also start after the Sports Festival, and Midoriya hoped they had their heroics class before or after his. Needless to say, he got off light. He couldn't exactly hang out with anyone because he needed to get this thing turned in by wednesday, but hey, he still got off light. And then there was the fact that the Festival was coming up, which Midoriya was pleasantly surprised to know was still happening. His chances were incredibly good, if they did the challenges they did last year. Actually, he was good no matter what challenges they had. Unless they did something new. Then he didn't know.
He made sure to let Itsuka and Mei know he was okay, to which he was berated by Itsuka for being so dumb before being crushed by a hug and automatically getting a hug from Mei, who promised to make a baby to help him. He didn't know what she was making, but he still felt both gratitude and fear from the idea. He let her know that she should look into something solar based, because if he really did have Superman's powers, solar radiation would empower him. He hoped. He didn't know, this was all still… incredible, to him.
The build up to the festival was pretty basic. He and All Might talked, with him promising first place for him. Ochaco's determination was frightening. The others had been training since yesterday, seeing as they only had until tomorrow to actually do so. Midoriya made sure he trained what he could, mostly focusing on his flight. No one else had actually known about it other than Aizawa and Recovery Girl, meaning it will surprise his opponents. He had to choose when it would be best to do that. He also could feasibly say he was no longer afraid of heights… going about a thousand feet in the air does that to a person. He also made note to start explaining how his quirk captured and stored solar radiation so he could use it howveer; Consciously or unconsciously. And that all led to him, sitting in bed, wondering just what the Sports Festival would bring. And he found himself unable to worry too much, putting on a smile and going to sleep.
Elsewhere…
Kurogiri barely dodged a glass thrown at him, sighing as he looked at the Sensei's young ward before him.
"I'M IN A FUCKING WHEELCHAIR, KUROGIRI! A WHEELCHAIR! THAT SUPERMAN-RIPOFF BROKE MY BACK!" Kurogiri sighed, closing his eyes for a moment. The next wine bottle better be worth it. "Yes, Shigaraki, he did. Now how are you going to make him pay?"
"GOD DAMN IT I DO—" Shigaraki slammed his hands onto his wheelchair, mistakenly slamming all ten fingers onto it. It decayed within a second and he fell, dropping onto the ground.
The Police would get many, many noise complaints that night.
Yes, hello. Good god, I am so sorry for making you all wait this long. I am also sorry this is short, and unorganised. I just needed to get this out so I could actually start the Festival, which should be fun. Also, writer's block and drops in confidence suck. Again, I apologize deeply for the wait when there wasn't much reward. I will try and do better next time, but I can't make promises if I'm unsure that I can keep them. Also, Shigaraki is in a wheelchair. Will AfO heal him or will he forever continue decaying his only mode of transport? Find out next time I mention him!
.. Anyways. I hope you all did enjoy what I managed to write. If you have any suggestions on what you want to see, let me know! Uh, that's about it. Until next time; Plus Ultra!
