"There's aura involved on the bond between Flabébé and Fairy Flowers?!" I exclaimed, getting on Ash's face, not minding when he took a step back startled.
"Em... yes, there's aura involved everywhere," Ash stuttered.
"But in what way?" Gary pressed on, taking out his notebook and pen.
"Yes!" I nodded my head rapidly. "Does it mean that the Fairy Flower's have aura and they bond themselves to the Flabébé? Or is the other way around?"
"Is the bond profound?" Gary continued, taking a step forward as Ash took another step back. "Can Flabébé live without it? Or is that the reason why Flabébé was getting sick?"
"I don't know how to put it in words," Ash sweated. "It's just aura."
"You need to say more than it's just aura!" We both protested angrily, making him fluster.
"Well, it was like boom! And then pow!" Ash gestured dramatically, as Pikachu nodded perched on his shoulder.
"Boom? Pow?" I repeated in disbelief.
Not that Gary, shared my bewilderment, he was taking notes as if Ash had made excellent sennse. "Got it! Boom and then pow. Did you go bam afterwards?"
"Totally!/Pika-pi!" Ash and Pikachu smiled at Gary in relief, as I stared at my science buddy speechless.
Gary turned to me and said: "What he means is that when he searches with aura he gets a nudge and then he can see a path to follow depending on how he manipulates it. He then saw a bond between Flabébé and the Fairy Flower, one of partnership. As the flower is made of the same fairy particules and resonates with her. Losing it will weaken her, but not kill her."
"HOW DID YOU GET ALL THAT FROM BOOM POW BAM?!" I shouted, this was all too bizzare.
"Years of experience has lead me to become fluent in all things Ash Ketchum," Gary informed me, as if he was sharing deep wisdom. "Even the boom, pow, bam language of his."
Deciding that it was better to ignore them, otherwise it would drive me mad, we followed my little sister and Max to the hospital and then headed to the town where Ash would have his exhibition match with Champion Diantha of all people! There we met Professor Sycamore, who was delighted with the research he had just gathered from Flabébé and the Fairy Flower, and wondered if something similar happened with Marowak and his bone. I had not thought of that! I was delighted to find out that the Professor will reach out to trainers with Lucarios to aid him on that side-research, as his focus is and will always be with Mega Evolution.
About Mega Evolutions, we witnesed two wonderful Mega Evolutions that day. The match between Ash and Champion Diantha was breathtaking, an exchange of power and grace from the get go. It had me breathless by the end and at awe of how far someone could train their pokemon. No wonder, Ash had caught Legendaries and it is said his pokemon can go toe to toe with them and even win. Especially, after his Lucario, of only two years old, was able to take down the Ace of Champion Diantha.
Ash is truly on just another level, I thought, a little bit depressed, as I recalled my Chespin a couple of days later.
"That was a wonderful battle!" The blonde girl, that had just defeated me, beamed. "My name is Korrina! I am the Shalour City Gym Leader!" She announced, making me feel a little bit relieved. At least, I lost to another Gym Leader and not any trainer. "You see I vowed to win 100 battles in a row before heading to Geosenge Town to find the Mega Stone that will allow my Lucario to Mega Evolve!"
"Mega Evolving a Lucario? Now that takes me back," Ash stepped out from behind the rest of our group with his Pikachu on his shoulder, like always, and his Lucario by his side.
He must have taken him out to observe the battle, after the other Lucario made an appearance, I deduced internally.
Meanwhile, Korrina's Lucario was taking a good look of Ash's Lucario, as his trainer was staring speechless at Ash.
"Y-you... yo-you a-are, Arceus! You are Ash Ketchum!" She exclaimed, eyes sparkling with awe and admiration. "I saw your battle against Champion Diantha, it was glorious! Seeing a Lucario Mega Evole and defeat her Ace, had all of Shalour City celebrating in pride!"
"Why would they do that?" Bonnie asked confused, tilting her head. "Shouldn't they cheer for their champion? Not that cheering for Ash-oniichan was bad! He is great!"
"That's because the Shalour City Gym has a long history of being run by a Gym Leader partnered with a Lucario," Korrina answered with a smile. "My family has taken the job of protecting the city from the times where Kalos had kings and queens," she informed us with pride. "Seeing that there's another Pokemon Trainer with a Lucario battling alongside the various champions, gives us pride."
"Another one?" Serena repeated. "What other champion has a Lucario?"
"Champion Cynthia," Riley answered her. "She might be known best for her Ace Garchomp, but her main team does have a powerful Lucario."
"One that neither me or Lucario can match," Riley's Lucario commented, crossing his arms over his chest. "For now, that is."
"Auntie's partner is strong," Ash's Lucario agreed, nodding his head. "She has taken me under her wing and taught me many things."
"Your Lucarios can communicate via aura?!" Korrina exclaimed, equal measures stunned and excited, while her Lucario's eyes widened in surprise. "Even after generations of trainers partnering up with Lucarios, my family has not discovered how to make that trick happen. The most we can do is to create an empathic link between us."
"Yes, you see..." Ash tried to explaine but I cut him off.
"Nop! You are not explaining a thing! I'm sorry Ash, but only Gary and Pikachu will understand your outlandish explanations! Leave it to Riley!"
Ash pouted and went to hug his boyfriend, as everyone else laughed. Sorry Ash, but I will not be going through that again!
"Every Lucario can use aura to communicate with human... the issue is that they do not know how to reach the wavelength of humans," Riley explained. "Kind of like with radio, they have an specific frequency they use for each station. Each species of pokemon have it too, but Lucario is born being able to move from one frequency to the other. The issue between humans and pokemon, is that we run a little bit different. You could say that one of us is radio AM, while the other is radio FM. Lucario cannot move from AM to FM instinctively. They need help. That's when Aura Guardians come, we can use aura and reach out to them. Through our bond we can give them the tools they need for the switch and with time it will become instinct."
"Wow! That's so cool!" Korrina exclaimed, eyes sparkling, as even Lucario barked in excitement. "Does that mean my Lucario cannot learn it?" She sounded less excited this time around.
"Oh, no, he can," Riley assured her. "I can have my Lucario give him some tips, it will simply be harder for him than it was for our Lucarios."
"You don't have to worry about us! We do not shy away from working hard! Don't we partner?!" Korrina assured him, as her Lucario barked in agreement.
"Good," Riley smiled, before frowning. "If it's possible, could we come with you to Geosenge Town?"
"Of course!" Korrina beamed, before noticing Riley's frown. "What is it? There's something wrong?"
"You see, Mega Evolving a Lucario can be dangerous," Riley warned them, taking both of them by surprise. "Half the time, there's no issue and everything goes smoothly. However, the other half of the time..."
"As Lucarios we are deeply bonded to the world around us," Riley's Lucario picked up for his partner. I had already taken out my notebook and started taking notes, as I could see this was about to get interesting. From the corner of my eyes, I could see Gary doing the same, as Ash clingged on his back. "Aura is everywhere, on every pokemon, rock, and human. When you Mega Evolve, you do not only increase your power and speed, all of your senses become sharper... especially, your aura ones. Suddenly, being able to sense the world even more, every inch of it..."
"It can be overwhelming," the explanation smoothly passed on to Riley. "Some Lucarios can get lost in that and turn into a berserker state. It can be quite dangerous if the trainer does not learn how to anchor them correctly, which is not quite so easy."
"I never heard of it," Korrina murmured shocked and less excited than before, even her Lucario looked more cautious.
"Your family seems to have been quite lucky," Riley repelied with a comforting smile, but I could hear the unsaid 'Or they did not tell you about it.' "However, it's a flip of a coin and no one knows when the coin will land on the other side. It's better if we are careful and I could even give you some tips on how to anchor your Lucario."
"Riley is great at explaining things," Ash added suddenly, smiling warmly at Korrina, before turning to me with a glare. "Unlike me, who only my boyfriend and starter can understand me. It's not like a trained over eighty pokemon and reached two Masteries."
"I said I was sorry!" I whined, as everyone else laughed.
