Hello, everyone! Totally not avoiding doing my college course work…and my fanfictions on my other account…totally.
I'm gonna try to cover a bunch in this chapter, so let's see if I stick to this goal!
(BTW, I'll give you two points for each ship besides Tododeku you spot. I THINK that I'm making them subtle yet obvious enough…maybe, I'm working on it. :)
Let me know what you think!
"Hey, mom, do you know who Himari Monoma was?"
Rei instantly paused, and Shoto started to wonder if he had been too blunt, but he'd been meaning to ask for the past few visits, never really finding a good time to bring up the…ghost, so it was probably best to just bluntly ask.
"Himari…ah, Miyu's little sister-poor girl," Rei said wistfully. "She was killed when Touya would have been just getting his quirk."
"Wait, really?" Fuyumi asked. "I thought that she was from your earlier childhood."
"Oh, I would see her often when I would go to see Miyu," Rei said with a small smile. "I wasn't really close to Himari, but I heard all kinds of stories about her." She frowned at that. "She…wasn't loved by her parents, not like Miyu was. I always felt sorry for her, even if I rarely spoke with her. She ran away one night when she was a little older than you, Shoto, from what little I know-I haven't spoken with Miyu since the funeral was held."
"...oh," Fuyumi said.
"Yes, to this day, I'm not sure if she was really killed, or if it was…intentional," Rei said. "But, Shoto, why do you know her name?"
"Well…I have this friend-" Shoto started.
"Friend?" Rei asked, eyes wide. "You haven't told me about any friends! Mind telling me all about them?"
"Well…I will, but first…one of my friends is named Izuku, and his quirk-" Shoto started.
"You already call him by his first name?" Rei asked.
Shoto sighed. "His quirk allows him to make ghosts his familiars, and all of them go under the same last name, so apparently he only goes by his first name so it's not confusing?"
"Ah," rei said. "I'm sorry for assuming."
"What were you assuming?" Shoto asked, giving his mom an odd look.
"Nothing, nothing, so, what about him?" Rei asked.
"One of his ghosts-Yui-called you and him by name and told me that her old name was Himari Monoma," Shoto said.
"Ah," Rei said. "How was she, anyway? I mean, besides the whole…"
"Pretty good, I guess," Shoto said.
"That's good," Rei said, then paused. "Do…do you think you could bring her by? Or your friend so I can talk to her?"
"I can ask," Shoto said, taking out his phone to text Izuku.
My mom wants to talk to Yui, would that be possible?
Izuku responded almost instantly. Yui said sure, but she's a little busy right now. When would be a good time?
"When?" Shoto asked. "Right now apparently isn't a good time."
"Anytime," Rei said.
"Ok," Shoto said, texting that to Izuku.
…
Anytime is fine.
Alright, Yui said, staring All Might down as he glanced at her.
Meanwhile…
"Alright, you're pretty strong already," Odin told Togata-well, Mirio, as he insisted on being called, so whatever. "But to make sure that you're gonna be alright, I think that's why All Might wanted you to clean this beach."
Mirio nodded, huffing as he dragged a large metal cabinet. "One hundred percent by myself, right?"
"Oh, heck no-I saw that bus a ways away, and I don't care if you think you can pick it up, we're figuring something else out with that," Odin said. "I might even do that myself, I have my own strength quirk. A little different than yours since I also have wings and a vocal quirk-"
"Wait, really?" Mirio asked. "All Might said that you only had a strength quirk and wings."
Odin sighed. "All Might knows way less than he thinks he does. Granted, I rarely use my vocal quirk-never have, I've never fully learned to control it, and I never really needed to-but that's not the point. The point is, my strength quirk is weaker than what you'll be receiving, but it's still more than you have right now."
"Gotcha!" Mirio said. "Can't wait! But…All Might said that I probably won't be able to control it right away-would you mind helping me with that?"
"Honestly, I disagree with All Might on that part," Odin said. "We all watch the UA sports festival, and it's clear that you already have strong control over your own quirk. Your body is already naturally tuned to your quirk, which will make it easier on you for control."
"But it's a different quirk-I control my quirk by making different parts of my body tangible and intangible at different times, but my friend Tamaki once told me that his quirk control was more like moving energy from one part of his body…to the next…" Mirio trailed off.
Odin smiled. "That's fair, if not a kind of…bad example. That's almost like you two getting your powers from a different source with different effects, but the idea is the same." She thought for a few seconds. "Well…it's been two hundred years, but I guess that I've always taken my strength quirk from my heart." She tapped her chest. "I didn't really use it, since I've always had a preference to my wings, and otherwise, it's been more…well, I haven't been using it personally. However, it's always come from my heart, and I would spread it around the rest of my body." She thought for a few seconds. "But, once you get it, do not use all of it at once."
"Huh?" Mirio asked. "Why not?"
"Didn't All Might tell you about the exploding limbs ordeal?" Odin asked, shaking her head. "Was not pleasant to see. You'll be able to have the quirk just fine once you're done training thanks to the added strength and Yumio's calculations, but you're right when you say that it's different from your quirk, so it'll take time to adjust, but I think that your body's natural instincts will also work to regulate the output to make sure you're fine-at least, that's what Yumio's saying."
"Who is Yumio?" Mirio asked. "You keep mentioning him."
"Oh, one of the other ghosts," Odin said. "Smartest out of all of us-oldest, too, at the time of his death-well, I'm the oldest in terms of how many years my soul's been around, but age-wise, it's him."
"That's still confusing," Mirio said, pushing the metal cabinet a little further-even though he had natural strength, he was kind of struggling a little bit-the slippery sand probably didn't help. "Why is this so heavy?"
Odin snorted, then walked over and straight-out picked the metal cabinet up, holding it above her head as she turned on her super-strength powers…and proceeded to turn them off, letting the cabinet become heavier, but she still held on.
Mirio stared at her.
Odin smiled at him. "You've got a little ways to go, Mirio." She set the cabinet down. "Don't worry, though, you've got time."
Hey, Mom, Yui, Toshi and Kacchan are coming over for supper tonight, remember? Dad's making food for everyone today.
"Whelp, that's our cue," Odin said, then looked over at Yui and All Might. "Ready to go, Yui?"
Yui nodded, then smiled at All Might. "Same time next week?"
"...yeah, I suppose so," All Might said.
Odin gave Mirio a high-five. "Don't overwork yourself, and make sure to stick to that plan we gave you." With that, she and Yui disappeared.
…
"The entire thing is really confusing," Mirio told Tamaki and Hado as they walked around, looking for a cat cafe Tamaki had heard about a few days later. "I mean, she asked to be called Odin, but All Might never actually called her that, and she just seemed…different than what I had expected. I guess All Might had said that she had been quiet before, but was more rebellious now, but she was actually kind of…nice. And strangely motherly at times, but otherwise, she seemed like a normal kid-like a classmate or something similar. Same with the other girl with her. Then they just disappeared-I mean, they were ghosts, so I guess that makes sense, but I still don't get how I was able to see them if they were ghosts in the first place."
"T-That's…weird," Tamaki mumbled.
"Maybe you should ask next time you see her!" Hado said. "Ooh, ooh, can we meet her sometime?"
"I'm not sure…" Mirio trailed off as he heard a loud laugh-a familiar laugh. He turned his head to see Odin and Yui holding bags of groceries, talking about something-Odin was laughing.
"Hmm?" Hado asked, following his gaze. "Do you know them?"
"...I was just talking about them," Mirio said.
"Oh, that's them?" Hado said. "We should go say hi!"
"T-they look busy…" Tamaki said, but Hado walked over to the two.
Tamaki grumbled something, and Mirio gently pat him on the back.
"Sorry, Tamaki, but they're really nice, I promise," Mirio said.
Meanwhile…
"Hi!" someone with long blue hair said, walking up to Odin and Yui.
Yui looked at the girl, then looked behind her and noticed Mirio and another boy that looked really anxious.
Mirio's back there, Odin, Yui said, making sure that the other Sides couldn't hear.
Ah, Odin said.
"Hi!" Odin said, looking up at the girl in front of her-Nejire Hado, same year and class as Mirio, if she remembered correctly.
"Hey, Odin, Yui, sorry to bother you-wait, were you buying groceries?" Mirio asked as he and the other boy-Tamaki Amajiki, also same class-walked over.
"Yep!" Yui said. "Hisashi got called away for work, but Izuku caught a cold, so we went to get some cold medicine and soup."
"...who and who?" Mirio asked.
"Oh, some of our living friends," Odin said. "Speaking of…you two look familiar…Nejire Hado and Tamaki Amajiki, right? Second year students from UA?"
"Yep!" Hado said. "It's really nice to meet you-Mirio was actually just telling us about you two, what a coincidence, huh?"
"H-Hado…" Amajiki muttered, seeming really nervous.
I think he has social anxiety, Yui said, glancing at Amajiki.
Yeah…he doesn't look particularly comfortable, Odin agreed.
"It's really nice to meet you guys, but we kind of need to get going," Odin said, then looked at Amajiki. "And you look like you need to get out of the crowd-where are you guys heading?"
"Oh, there's this cat cafe nearby-we were heading over there to check it out!" Mirio said, pointing in one direction.
Odin and Yui exchanged a look, then looked back at them and pointed in the opposite direction.
"It's that way, actually," Odin said.
"W-Wait, you've been there?" Tamaki asked quietly.
Odin nodded. "We actually go there often with Toshi and Izuku-apparently cats aren't as big of fans of Kacchan."
"I don't blame them, he's really sweaty," Yui said.
"Yeah, we should probably work on that," Odin said. "Oh, wait, we shouldn't've said that out loud, huh?"
"Oops," Yui shrugged.
"We're passing by the cat cafe anyway, if you want us to show you where it is," Odin said, looking back at the group of three.
"Really?" Hado asked.
"Sure!" Odin said, then gestured for the three to follow as she walked backwards, Yui reaching out and grabbing her hand and walking forward. "So, you three like cats?"
"Cats are awesome," Mirio said.
"Cats," Tamaki said simply.
"Cats are so adorable!" Hado gushed.
"They really are!" Yui said, looking back at them over her shoulder. "Cats and dogs are so adorable! I wish we could have some…"
"Hisashi's allergic," Odin reminded her.
"I know, but I wish he wasn't allergic so we could have pets," Yui said.
"...we technically can have pets in the Imagination, you know," Odin said.
Yui paused (while still walking). "Wait…"
Odin chuckled, glancing at her. "We can go check it out later if you want."
Yui beamed. "Yeah! That sounds really fun!"
Odin smiled, then turned back to the other three. "We love pets, if you couldn't tell."
"Pets are great!" Mirio said.
"Cats are better than dogs, but both are great!" Hado said.
Odin smiled, then pointed to the other side of the street. The three looked to see the cat cafe.
"Thank you, Odin, Yui," Mirio said. "See you on Saturday, right?"
"Yep!" Odin said.
"I might not be there-didn't Hinata want to go with you instead?" Yui asked, fully stopping and looking at Odin.
"Oh, right!" Odin said. "That's when you're heading to go see Rei-san, right?"
Yui nodded. "It's going to be so weird to see her again…but you guys'll have fun, let me know all that happens when I get back, ok?"
Odin nodded. "And I'll want to hear all about your visit with Rei. But that's not the point right now." She looked back at Mirio. "See you on Saturday, and I'll likely have Hinata with me." With that, the two ghosts continued to walk away.
"...think I can come with you to one of your Saturday things?" Hado asked, looking at Mirio as they walked into the cat cafe. "Odin seems cool and I wanna talk to her more."
"...I'll ask sometime," Mirio said.
…..
Yui, for the hundredth time in the past half-hour, tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, biting her lip nervously. "Do you think-"
"Mom said that she'd love to see you again," Fuyumi Todoroki-she insisted on being called Fuyumi-was quick to say while Todoroki-kun just glanced at her but continued to walk-the mental hospital Rei was staying in was quite a walk from the nearby train station, huh?
"I know, but it's been so many years-how many years has it been again?" Yui said. "I haven't really been keeping track of time as a ghost…" Spontaneous, ugly, stupid-
Yui felt a wave of care go through the mind palace.
Mama, we can feel the anxiousness from here-that's my job, Hinata said.
I know, but I've changed so much-do I try to be like how I had been, or the new me, or- Yui started.
Yui, relax, Odin said. It's going to be fine, ok? If something does happen, you can always disappear and come back here-we already made cookies for when you get back, remember?
Sugar cookies! Hinata said happily, then a small wave of anxiety went through the mind palace, quickly stopping. Sorry…
Yui smiled softly as there was a wave of care in the mind palace and Odin began to softly say stuff to Hinata-oh, confusing Mirio here, wanna confuse him more? Sweet, sit on my shoulders while I run circles around him-Yui chuckled slightly at that one, and tapped her head twice when Todoroki-kun gave her a confused look. Todoroki-kun just nodded as Fuyumi said, "We're here."
Yui looked up at the hospital, then back at Fuyumi and nodded. The three walked inside as Fuyumi signed them all in, then they walked up to Rei's room.
Step. Step. Step. Step.
Yui focused on every single sound as she followed Fuyumi and Todoroki-kun up the stairs, getting more and more nervous what if this wasn't a good idea-
Yui felt all of the anxiety in her chest, every single insecurity, every single fear, just…disappear.
Stop worrying, Mama, Hinata said.
You've got this! Duke said.
Take a deep breath-there's nothing to fear, Darlina added.
Yui softly smiled-
"We're here…are you ready?" Fuyumi asked quietly as they stopped at a door.
Yui smiled at Fuyumi and nodded. Fuyumi nodded back, then opened the door and gestured for Yui to walk in. Yui smiled, then walked in…
…there was Rei, organizing a bouquet of flowers by the window, but she turned her head and gasped.
"H-Himari?" Rei asked.
Yui smiled and nodded, folding her hands behind her back with a big smile. "It's been a while, Rei, hasn't it?" She scratched the back of her neck as she slowly walked forward-she didn't even have to turn around to know that Fuyumi and Todoroki-kun were peeking around the doorframe at them. "I'd ask if you're doing well, but…"
"I've been better, but I'm getting there," Rei said, sitting on her bed, then slowly pat the bed next to her. "Sit, sit."
Yui smiled, then sat down next to Rei. "So, had some more kids after Touya and Fuyumi, I hear?"
"Natsuo and Shoto-you've already met Shoto," Rei said.
"Yep!" Yui said. "Fuyumi and Todoroki-kun are both really nice-definitely got that from you, Enji was a…cotton headed ninny muggin, to put it nicely." (point if you get that reference, I literally went through a binge-watch trying to figure out exactly how to spell that-)
"A…what?" Rei asked, clearly confused.
"...don't mind that," Yui said. "I was just meaning to say he's a real jerk without swearing-Izuku isn't allowed to swear until we're in high school, so I won't, either."
"...oh, Shoto's friend, right?" Rei said. "I feel like I'm missing some information here."
"So, as you know, I'm a ghost, and made a contract with Izuku, which is why I'm here, but one of the other ghosts-Izuku named her Odin, he named be Yui-is basically the mom friend, and she doesn't want Izuku swearing until high school at least-it's a big running joke at this point, sometimes our friend Kacchan just starts swearing like a sailor, and Odin appears next to Izuku and dramatically covers his ears and tells Kacchan not to corrupt her child, to which he goes, 'he has a real mother, you know!' and then another one of us appears and goes, 'yeah, but we don't like her.'" Yui giggled. "Everyone is so nice." She paused, then scratched the back of her head. "But you probably don't want to talk about all that, huh? So, how's it been with you? Besides the whole…" Yui chuckled. "...sorry, I'm afraid that I don't really know what to talk about…it's been ages, and I don't know much, but I know that life for you hasn't been the best since you married Enji, but I know that you probably don't want to talk about that-"
"No, no…I…I think that I want to tell you about it," Rei said.
"Are you sure?" Yui asked.
"You knew me before everything…maybe talking to you could help me," Rei said, then began to talk.
….
"I've never heard her talk this much before."
"It's so strange."
Shoto glared at the hospital workers peeking into the room-he and Fuyumi had moved into the room while Yui and Rei had been talking, sitting as Yui helped Rei work through her emotions, going over why everything she was feeling was alright, how Enji really was a jerk (and promising to punch him or to get her friend Odin to do that, she had a super strength quirk, apparently, so it would hurt more-that made Rei burst out laughing as she turned to Fuyumi and Shoto and told them a story about this one time she and Yui's sister Miyu and her boyfriend Hachirou got into a fight on the playground nearby because they had been arguing-), and why she should forgive herself fully for what happened.
Shoto and Fuyumi sat there for hours listening to Rei and Yui talk, Rei basically telling Yui everything since she had last seen her, and Yui listened and talked with her about it.
Eventually, though, Yui suddenly tensed up.
"Um…sorry, but Izuku's about to go to sleep, and we tend to have a little trouble being seen when he falls asleep," Yui said. "So I should probably get going…"
"Oh," Rei said. "Wait, you haven't told me anything about what you've been up to…"
"Maybe I can come back another time?" Yui said. "Visitor hours have been over for a while, anyway."
"Really?" Rei asked, looking at the clock-sure enough, it was already 11 p.m-Shoto looked surprised, too. Was it really that late?
"Yeah…time flies when you're having fun," Yui said, standing up and bowing slightly. "It was really nice to talk to you again!"
"It was great to talk to you, too," Rei said, also standing.
"I'll see if I can come by for a visit again sometime!" Yui said as she started to fade, then she disappeared.
Rei smiled at Fuyumi and Shoto. "Thank you for bringing her-I haven't felt so…light in years."
"I'm so glad, Mom," Fuyumi said, giving Rei a hug. After a few seconds, Shoto got up and joined the hug as well.
…
"It was so nice!" Yui said, sitting on the couch in the Mind Palace living room, curled up against Odin's side (lol) while Odin had a wing around her. The other Sides were also sitting around the living room on couches that they had brought in, all listening as Yui talked about Rei. "I mean, we weren't all that close when I was alive, but we just fell into easy conversation, and I'm really glad that I could help her sort through her emotions on the subject!"
"That's good," Emory said. "I'm glad that you and I talked about how to help someone as a therapist in that case, then. It sounded like that's exactly what she needed."
Yui beamed. "I'm glad!"
"Now, who wants to go on an adventure in the Imagination!" Dasu said happily. "We shall defeat that Dragon Witch this time!" (point if you get the reference)
"That will never make sense to me," Yumio muttered.
Everyone just laughed as they got up to head to the Imagination.
…..
"Year checkpoint."
"Huh?!" Kacchan said, looking at Izuku. "What was with that voice, Deku?"
Izuku blinked, then tilted his head to the side. "O-Oh…Yui, right?"
"What about her?" Todoroki asked.
"Hmm…so you know how all my Sides are the same age as me, right?" Izuku asked, looking at Todoroki.
"Yeah…?" Todoroki said, raising an eyebrow.
"Well…one year before I get to the age a Side had been when they died, it starts the Year checkpoint," Izuku explained. "Yui died…" He looked at the stove clock. "...around 9 o'clock on her 16th birthday without the effect that it would also include the difference in time from when we were born, I was born at around 5 in the morning according to Dad, but Yui doesn't know what time she was born, but she says that it was actually around midnight for her, but the Year checkpoint will end one year from now on July 15 at 9 o'clock, which would mean that she was born around 8 in the morning…"
"You're mumbling," Toshi said, and Izuku jumped, then flushed.
"S-Sorry," Izuku muttered, scratching the back of his head. "Let's just watch some movies, then?"
"The Avengers!" Kacchan said-Hisashi had bought some pre-quirk movies a while back that Odin had been really excited about, and Kacchan had only seen a few, but he already liked them. (Fun fact: I've seen, like, five or six Avengers movies, including Endgame, but I never watched Infinity War (have no idea how I managed that), but I'll get around to actually watching all of them someday! Therefore, give yourself a point for every Avengers movie you've seen. :)
"The…what?" Todoroki asked.
"Pre-quirk superhero movie series," Izuku said. "It's really good."
"Ok," Todoroki said, and the four boys went into the living room and started watching Captain America: the First Avenger. (They had all gotten permission to stay the night at Izuku's house, Kacchan and Toshi's parents agreeing instantly, but Todoroki had said that his father was out of town for the next week, so as long as he didn't stay over for the next week-which Izuku was considering asking him to do anyway-then he would be fine.)
…
"Wahoo!" Odin cheered, Izuku standing nearby and watching as Mirio panted, but he was grinning. "The entire beach, and it's only December!"
Izuku smiled, his mind going over the fact that the entrance exam was coming up-it was almost March already, wasn't it. (I have no idea when the entrance exam happened, but according to Google, the school year would start sometime in April, so I'm gonna assume that the entrance exam happened sometime in March, if there's an actual timeline to this and I'm wrong, please let me know!) And yet, this was the first time Izuku was actually at the beach with Odin, Mirio, and All Might. It was early in the morning on a Sunday, so Mirio didn't have to be at school that day, so that was good.
"Awesome," Mirio said, still trying to catch his breath. "That…took…ages."
"But you got it done!" one of Mirio's classmates-Nejime Hado-said happily, a different classmate, Tamaki Amajiki, nodding along. "The beach looks so clean!"
"Yeah," Izuku said, looking around, then at a dock…a really broken looking dock, maybe he could fix that one himself, he needed some kind of distraction from constantly training and studying.
Hado grinned at Izuku, then followed his gaze. "Oh, should we fix up that dock?"
Mirio froze, then looked over. "Oh, yeah…"
"I'll do it," Izuku said, looking at him. "I need something to do, anyway."
Anyone happen to know how to rebuild a dock?
I'll look into it, Yumio said.
"Well, Young Togata!" All Might said, buffing up into his bigger form and plucking a hair off his head and holding it out to Mirio. Izuku started to giggle-Odin had told him the stories about passing on the quirk, and sometimes it was a really funny story, like when Fourth had just shoved a handful of his hair into Fifth's mouth- "Eat this!"
"...I'm sorry, what?" Mirio said as Odin and Izuku burst out laughing.
"One for All passes on through DNA transfer," Odin explained to Mirio. "The typical way most Users have done it in the past is having the next User eat a strand of their hair. Usually, there's some kind of explanation about it before just saying, 'here, eat this,' but then again, this whole situation is…different than it's ever been."
"Oh," Mirio said, then grabbed All Might's hair, hesitated for a few seconds, then ate it, making a face as he tried to swallow it.
"That was really weird…" Mirio said. "Hair's so weird to swallow."
"Yeah, I liked the method of two drops of blood instead-so much easier, but that also hurts more," Odin said, then thought for a few seconds. I'm not feeling pulled to Mirio, so I'm still disconnected.
That's good, Yui said.
"Gotcha…so…how do I use this quirk now?" Mirio asked.
"You won't be able to use it for a few hours still, it takes a little bit of time," Odin said. "But…I'm pretty sure the quirk actually transferred-I have a little bit of a sense of the quirk, not enough to call attachment, but just enough for me to tell that you've got some of it now." She smiled. "I'm glad that worked!"
Mirio smiled. "Yeah! Me too!" He hesitated. "Um…would you mind waiting with me until it activates?"
"Sure!" Odin said. "We cleared the day already, just in case."
"Sweet!" Mirio said, then looked at Izuku. "Mind if I get to know you, then? I've heard you mentioned a few times…I think, Odin's confusing about ghosts and which one's not, but either way, all of you sound really nice!"
Izuku shrugged. "Sure!"
"Sweet!" Mirio said, then sat down in the sand, Hado and Amajiki doing the same, so Izuku and Odin joined the little circle as well. After a few seconds, Odin looked over at All Might.
"You joining us, Yagi?" Odin said.
"Eh…I'll stay over here…" All Might said, sitting down a little further away and taking out his phone.
"Fair enough," Odin said, then turned back to the three high school second years. "Alright, so what do you guys wanna talk about?"
"Well…twenty questions?" Mirio asked. "Someone asks a question, answers it, and we all answer it all around the circle. Like…what's your favorite food? Mine is ramen!"
"Ooh, ooh, mine is yakitori!" Hado said. "Amajiki, yours is…uh…"
"I'm not really picky, just…something with meat, usually, since that works best with my quirk…" Amajiki said, sounding really nervous.
"Oh, right, you have Manifest as a quirk, right?" Izuku asked. "You take what you've eaten and manifest it on part of your body so you can use it to attack-it was really cool to see you use those octopus tentacles at the sports festival this year, we were all squished on the couch and trying to watch-Dad just laughed and laid on the floor, and Hinata plopped onto his chest, and Dad just shrugged and hugged them." Odin and Izuku laughed at that. "Um…my favorite food is katsudon, by the way."
"Mashed potatoes," Odin said.
"How about the other ghosts?" Hado asked. "We've met a few of them-ooh, ooh, how many are there and what are all their names?"
"Uh…there's me, Odin, there's Yui-she likes udon best, just like Darlina. Brazen, Dasu, and Duke all like sushi best. Darnell and Hinata like pancakes. Paz likes haggis best, and Hex likes porridge. Dot likes sandwiches, so does Yumio. Uh…Kamari likes coffee beans best-and I'm not joking, they eat them straight-up, it's kind of weird. Emory likes soba, so does Yuki. Hirah likes spicy curry." Izuku thought for a few more seconds. (I thought for five minutes because I accidentally put Emory down for three different foods and didn't realize, so when I did a count and came with two too many, I spent a while just going over the names over and over again before I realized how dumb I was.) "And Dad likes French toast and bacon best. Ooh, Kacchan also likes spicy curry, and Toshi likes katsudon and coffee-mostly coffee, he basically has a caffeine addiction at this point."
"That's…19 ghosts?" Hado said, doing a count.
"No, sixteen-Dad, Kacchan, and Toshi are still alive," Izuku said.
"Cool!" Hado said. "But you have a really cool quirk-I don't really understand it, though. It lets you collect ghosts so others can see them, right?"
"I can also use their quirks, actually," Izuku said, making Odin's wings appear on his back and spreading them out, then he made them disappear. "It's really awesome! And they also help me regulate parts of my personality."
"Huh?" Amajiki asked. "R-Regulate parts of your personality?"
"Yeah," Izuku said. "Like Odin, she controls how much I care about something-Yui controls my emotions and morals, uh…you've met Hinata before, right? They're my anxiety." Odin and Izuku both winced at that.
"Uh…the good anxiety," Odin said.
"...I feel like we're missing some context," Hado said.
"Rand's gone, and we barely have to deal with him anymore-just have to find a way to transport him to some desolate island," Odin said.
"Ok, we're definitely missing some context here," Mirio said. "Mind telling us?"
"Eh…he's this ghost I was forced to make a contract with a while back," Izuku said. "I had a contract with him for a year, and he was my anxiety at the time…" Izuku hunched his shoulders, feeling his Sides get uncomfortable. "It was…really bad. He hurt all of us really badly before I could end the contract. We had to try to get rid of him by binding him to a certain spot-I go check every month to make sure he's still there, but it's not a permanent solution-we still have to get rid of him, but we're working on that."
"Oh," Mirio said. "Why did you have to bind him to a spot, though? He's a ghost, and I'm sure you can make him avoid you, right?"
"Eh…it's more complicated than that-there's more to the afterlife than ghosts," Izuku said. "But that's a really uncomfortable conversation, so can we avoid it?"
The three exchanged looks, but thankfully decided to drop it.
"So…how's school going for you?" Mirio asked.
"Haven't gone since my last year of elementary," Izuku said.
"Eh…truant?" Amajiki asked, clearly surprised.
"No, I took online classes and graduated early," Izuku said. "I'm gonna take the UA entrance exam, though, along with my friends, so I haven't officially taken any high school classes yet." He scratched the back of his neck. "But I got bored just waiting for high school, so I've already taught myself what I'll need to know? Yumio's my Logic and intelligence, and he was 25 when he died, so I guess that it's not really necessary for me to learn because my logic already knows everything I'm gonna learn in high school, but hey, I can pretend."
"...you know, suddenly, you seem terrifying," Hado said. "You're really that smart?"
Izuku smiled. "I hope so! Only three months to the entrance exam, and I'm trying to focus more on my quirk control…I'm really good with my quirk, but I'm still behind…"
"I doubt that!" Mirio said. "Odin's told me that you're really good with your quirk!"
"I got my quirk five years late-trust me, I'm behind," Izuku said.
"Wait, five years?" Hado asked. "Isn't that really rare?"
"Yeah, but it was also a circumstance thing," Odin said. "Izuku didn't actually talk to any ghosts before he was nine, which definitely changed his entire quirk control, but hey, your analysis from before definitely helped you figure out how to apply our quirks faster, which is great!"
"Analysis?" Mirio asked, perking up-all three did, and All Might looked over at them as Izuku blushed.
"Well…before I knew that I had a quirk, I started analyzing quirks and ways to improve or defeat them," Izuku said. "I thought that maybe I could be a hero without a quirk…then I met Odin in a park around midnight, and…well, the rest is history."
"Wait, what were you doing in a park around midnight?" Mirio asked.
"...taking a walk?" Izuku said. "I had a nightmare and needed to get out of the house without worrying Dad." He hunched his shoulders. "I don't really wanna talk about it."
"...ok," Mirio said. "Ooh, wanna hear some fun stories from classes?"
"Oh, yeah!" Izuku said happily.
"So, we have this one teacher that carries around a yellow sleeping bag everywhere," Mirio said, then started to tell a story. (Guess who :)
Izuku laughed, listening to the three tell stories, occasionally adding in his own.
…
"Hey!"
Izuku jumped, then turned to see Mirio waving at him.
"Oh, hey, Mirio," Izuku said as the guy stopped by him, carrying a basket as well-they were in a grocery store.
"Getting groceries?" Mirio asked.
Izuku nodded. "You as well, I see."
"Mmhm!" Mirio said. "One more month to the exam-you ready?"
"Getting there," Izuku said. "I'm helping my friends prepare, too."
"I hope to see all of you!" Mirio said. "Eh…let me know if you get in, I guess? Or am I gonna stop seeing Odin here soon?"
"Odin says that she'll probably check in with you a few times, but that's gonna be about it…" Izuku said, then snapped his fingers. "Ah, wait!" He took out his phone, unlocked it, and started to make a new contact before handing it to Mirio. "What's your phone number?"
"I'll put it in-put yours into mine," Mirio said, doing the same thing and giving his phone to Izuku. They each typed in their phone numbers and handed their phones back.
"Let me know what happens!" Mirio said.
"I will," Izuku said as Mirio walked away, then Izuku looked at his phone.
You know, he's really nice, Izuku said.
Wish all the other Users had been as nice as him, Odin said. Maybe I'd have stuck around. She laughed. But you're always gonna be better.
Izuku smiled, then went to check out.
….
"Robots?" Toshi whispered in horror, having been sitting by Izuku and Kacchan.
"This is why Odin told you to bring weapons-you've got them, right?" Izuku whispered back.
Toshi nodded-thank goodness the group had read through the exam manual online so they knew that certain weapons were allowed (as long as they didn't have a physical quirk, so Kacchan and Izuku didn't have any weapons, but Odin had been showing Toshi how to use a metal staff to deal some incredible damage, hopefully it would be enough against the robots).
"Yeah, collapsible staff, definitely enough for me to fight, but robots?" Toshi whispered.
"There are four of these that you'll be fighting," Present Mic (! Brazen was going crazy inside Izuku's head, but Dasu and Duke were trying to distract him) was explaining. "One point, two point, and three pointers." He was showing something on the large screen, and Izuku was already making a plan-Odin had said that it would be more difficult to score if all of the Sides were out and fighting, so she suggested that maybe he just go with the quirks he had, and all of them had agreed that maybe it would be best just in case-and Izuku would do great on his own anyway.
"Excuse me!" a blue-haired boy a few rows ahead of them said, standing up. "The pamphlet here states that there are four robots! I hope that this isn't a mistake on part of such a prestigious school!" Then, he turned and faced Toshi, Izuku, and Kacchan. "And I don't know which of you two it was, but two of you were talking! Don't you know how rude it is to ignore such important instructions?"
Oh boy.
"And don't you know how rude it is to interrupt a pro hero that was clearly about to tell us about exactly what you were asking?" Brazen asked through Izuku, and Izuku distantly noticed that Present Mic looked surprised. "We were being quiet, and I apologize if we were bothering anyone, but we were thinking strategies, something that would benefit you-and if you had actually read through the pamphlet, you would've noticed that the last one-the zero pointer-is stated as coming up next, as well as more information on the topic." Izuku shook his head, then bowed his head, and, in his regular voice, said, "What he said." He nodded at Present Mic, who nodded.
"That's correct, Examinee XXXX (because I'm not looking up the exact numbers)!" Present Mic said. "And thank you for the concern, Examinee XXXX! The fourth kind of robot is worth zero points and is more of an obstacle than anything, so it's best to avoid it if you can."
Not possible, help others avoid it more like, Odin and Brazen said at the same time.
"Brazen says to help others avoid it," Izuku quietly whispered to Toshi and Kacchan, wondering where he could learn some kind of telepathy so he could be completely silent in situations like this.
I'll do some more research later into Mandalay's quirk so we can try to figure out how to use her telepathy, Yumio said.
Thank you-I'll help you out! Yui said.
Thank you, Yui, Yumio said.
"Alright, now, each of you has a card saying where you're doing the practical exam," Present Mic said. "Now, I hope you all brought something to exercise in, because as you can tell, the practical exam is no joke!"
With that, everyone got up and went to change.
"Good luck, and remember to be careful," Odin said through Izuku as the three got up and walked out of the auditorium. "I'm confident that all three of you are gonna pass, but I also don't want to see you guys get injured-I'll be too far to do anything to help you two, Toshi and Katsuki, but Recovery Girl is on sight, she has been since even All Might went to school here, she's been the school nurse for years and is still going, I respect her, but that doesn't mean you should get incredibly hurt, got it?"
"Got it," Kacchan and Toshi muttered back. And, with that, they all walked to their different changing rooms.
….
Izuku took a few deep breaths, thanking Hinata for not making him too anxious, but he was still alert and ready for anything.
You've got this! Odin said.
You're gonna kick butt! Brazen said. I did really well in the exam, by the way, so feel free to use my clouds!
Kamari chuckled. Confuse Present Mic and Eraserhead-we know that they're both teachers at UA.
Izuku started to laugh out loud. Oh my God, that sounds funny-and Mirio said that Eraserhead is supposed to be one of the first year homeroom teachers this year-what if we end up in his class? That would be hilarious, wouldn't it?
The Sides all started to laugh.
"Excuse me!"
Izuku stopped laughing and turned to see the blue-haired boy from earlier.
"Why are you laughing-you don't appear to be taking this seriously at all," the blue-haired boy scolded.
"Actually, we're taking this seriously," Yumio said through Izuku. "As they say, laughter is the best medicine, and by relieving some of our anxiety through laughing, we make ourselves more ready to react."
"...that's a different voice than earlier," the blue-haired boy said quietly.
"Correct, Brazen and I don't have the same voice," Yumio said, then Izuku added, "I have a familiar quirk, which means that my quirk has different consciousnesses that sometimes speak through me. All of us are nervous, and we're just trying to relax and not be so tense so we're ready-"
"AAANNNDDD GO!" Present Mic shouted.
"Like now," Izuku muttered, his wings bursting out of his back as he turned and took off into the fake city-seriously, how much funding does UA have to be able to do this-way too much, way too much indeed-immediately spotting a robot and diving towards it-let's use Odin's super strength here and add on Crimson Riot's skin hardening quirk-glad we managed to figure that out-and yet we haven't figured out Mandalay's quirk for some reason?1-focus, Izuku, we're working on it-and Izuku hit the robot-a three pointer! Score-head on, smashing it to pieces before he landed and turned to a small group of robots close by that were starting to zero (ha) in on him, and, with a smile-let's go for Kacchan's quirk here-he raised his hands, made his wings disappear, and charged, exploding the robots-one, two, one, three, two-that's twelve points total, sweet!-but didn't even stop for half a second as he noticed a kid tripped with a robot approaching-let's use Ingenium's quirk for speed-and rushed over, picking up the kid, who made a noise as Izuku slid out of the way-hey, the kid has a fire quirk-and Izuku said, "You can have that one, good luck!" And, with that, Izuku took off again to fight more robots, occasionally dragging kids out of robots' ways or out of the way of another kid's quirk-seriously, people, you can do better than this!
…..
Now, Aizawa wasn't usually interested in watching the entrance exam since it was incredibly bias towards physical quirks, and he would often see kids with big egos and flashy quirks and know that he would have to deal with them.
However…
"Hey, Shouta, isn't that the kid with the ghost quirk?" Nemuri muttered, pointing to one screen fixed on an examinee that Shouta was interested in due to the nature of his quirk…
A few years ago because I can't remember exactly how long ago Izuku would have met Brazen…
There was a knock on Shouta's door, and he groaned, getting up from the couch, ready to fight someone-it was his day off and he wanted to sleep, damnit! But when he opened the door, nobody was there.
"Stupid pranksters," Shouta grumbled, about to close the door when he noticed a…package on his doorstep? What?
Shouta looked down at the package, then slowly picked it up-it was addressed to him by his civilian name, not his hero name…and there was a letter on top.
Slowly, Shouta picked up the letter and opened it-wait, that writing was familiar-!
Dear Shouta,
It's me! Ya boi Oboro Shirakumo! Ok, that was probably a weird start to a letter, but I couldn't think of something better and this had Remy-shoot, Kamari-laughing, so I decided to roll with it.
So, you're probably wondering what this is about because I've been dead for a couple years now…well, see, there's this kid with a really cool quirk that allows him to collect ghosts, for lack of better explanation, and because of that, I'm writing you a letter to say hi, how are you doing (there's no return address, so I don't actually know your answer to that, but let me know in spirit! Haha.) and to say that I hope to see you again sometime! This kid is working on getting into UA someday, and I know a little bit, like that you're starting to teach there, which is really cool! (And so are Nemuri and Hizashi, which is weird to think about. I mean, I know Hizashi is great with kids, but Nemuri's costume is a little…oh dear god, I'm becoming Yumio, don't mind that!)
So! This kid is planning to go to UA, and if he does, I'll probably stop by and say hi to you guys, but until then! Look what I found! (Don't worry, the package isn't a bomb, don't go joining me in the afterlife or I will hunt you down as a ghost and make you add yourself to this kids collection, mark my words.)
Until we meet again!
Oboro Shirakumo (I actually go by Brazen now, that's the name the kid gave me, and I like it!)
Back to the present!
The box had been full of freaking cat pictures and cat toys-how had Oboro even known that Shouta had a cat? But either way. Somehow, Nezu had found out about the letter (no idea how, while Shouta had shown Zashi and Nemuri, Nezu shouldn't have known about it) and had informed Shouta that Izuku Midoriya had a similarly described quirk and one of his registered quirks was incredibly similar to Oboro's, which made him the prime candidate for who Oboro (or…Brazen, that was weird) had been talking about. (But Shouta would still have to actually talk to the kid…)
"Yes!" Nezu said, pulling up the kid's file. Izuku Midoriya, age fifteen, had sixteen ghosts in his collection at the moment. "He's racking up points quickly-and, from the looks of it, so is his classmate from elementary school." Nezu gestured at Katsuki Bakugou-a kid doing really well on villain points alone so far-definitely a big ego, which Shouta was not looking forward to dealing with. "But all the examinees are doing great so far! We even have someone that read through the manual and brought a weapon!" Now that caught everyone's interest as they turned to look at a boy with purple hair that had a large metal staff in hand and was taking down robots-not as well as the others, but he was also pulling people out of harm's way.
"Non physical quirk, huh?" Shouta said. "If he makes it in, I want him in my class."
"You can have him, but I want that girl with green vines for hair," Vlad said, nodding at one of the screens.
"Now, now, don't start calling students yet," Nezu said. "We haven't even released the zero pointer." He looked at the button. "Shall we?"
"Eh, maybe give it one more minute?" All Might said, giving Nezu a surprised look.
"Sixty!" Nemuri said happily.
Shouta groaned as all his coworkers started the countdown.
….
Toshi quickly pulled this Pikachu out of the way of a robot. Again.
"Seriously, look out!" Toshi said. "You don't want to get badly injured, do you?!" He let go of Pikachu and smashed in the head of a three pointer.
That's twenty points…is it enough? Toshi wondered.
"Wheeeyy," Pikachu said, and Toshi sighed, then turned to see Pikachu about to get hit. Again.
"Seriously-!" Toshi said. "Pikachu, do you have no sense of self preservation?"
"Whe-" Pikachu started, but stopped when Toshi put him under his control.
"Care more about your life and continue to fight the robots," Toshi said, and Pikachu began to obey that order.
"You know, I wonder if your quirk could work by instilling a thought instead of simply making them do a command…you know, like if you commanded Katsuki to feel bad when calling people extras, would that carry over?"
"Don't you freaking dare-"
"That's literally most of Katsuki's personality, do you think that would end well? Nah, I'll go ahead and try to change Katsuki's love of spicy curry-"
"I'll explode your face!"
"Ah, so suggestions don't last long…but they do last past your normal limit of controlling someone…that's really interesting, I wonder what else you can do…"
Toshi smiled slightly at the memory as he bashed in the head of another robot-two points, twenty-two-would it be enough, good thing he also applied for gen ed, just in case-no, no thinking like that-
There was a loud noise, and everyone turned to see…the zero pointer how were they supposed to avoid that!
It's worth zero points, I have to find other robots to fight-
Wait, shoot, there were people still in that robot's path!
Toshi found himself running that way to the people frozen. "Hey, let's get going you guys! You aren't planning on staying there, are you!?"
The people made a small noise, just enough for Toshi to grab control of all of them-his head was starting to ache, but he had to overrun fight, flight, freeze on them to make them run.
"Get out of the way!" Toshi said, and they got up and started running.
…..meanwhile….
So that's what you meant on help others avoid-couldn't you have just directly said that?!
That would've ruined the fun, though! Brazen laughed.
Alright, so who's still-there's a girl over there, looks like her leg is broken! Izuku said, then started to run over.
"My ankle feels sprained-" the girl started as Izuku stopped by her and gently picked her up, causing the girl to blush. "W-What-"
"I don't have time to heal you right now, but I'm not leaving you in that thing's path!" Izuku said. Odin, think I should try to destroy that thing?
Izuku felt Odin leave the Mind Palace, invisible to others, Yui right next to her.
"We'll go see if we can mess with the wires," Yui said as the two flew off towards the zero pointer, leaving Izuku to bring the girl away.
"Think you have enough points to get in?" Izuku asked.
"I don't know-I hope so," the girl said, then chuckled. "I can't keep fighting with a sprained ankle, anyway…"
The zero pointer made a loud noise, and Izuku looked back over his shoulder-all the others stopped, too, and Izuku noticed that a few other people had also been helped out, having broken or sprained bones.
There we go! Odin said as the zero pointer stopped. That wire did the trick!
Please tell me you didn't just start pulling wires… Yumio sighed.
Odin and Yui started to chuckle nervously.
Of course you did, Yumio said.
"AAANNNDDD THAT'S THE EXAM!" Present Mic yelled, and Izuku gently set the girl down as Odin and Yui appeared back in the Mind Palace.
"Ow!" the girl said as her ankle touched the ground.
"Hmm…it's starting to swell-here, I know a healing song," Izuku said.
"Wait, do you have a healing quirk?" the girl asked.
"Eh, something like that," Izuku said, hovering his hand over the girl's ankle, then, under his breath, began to sing. (if you guess the song beforehand, give yourself three points, two if you recognize it while reading it.) "Flower, gleam and glow, let your power shine. Make the clock reverse. Bring back what once was mine. Heal what has been hurt, change the fate's design. Save what has been lost. Bring back what once was mine. What once was mine." The girl's ankle glowed a little, then the swelling disappeared, and the girl looked surprised.
"Woah!" the girl said. "That's a really cool quirk!"
"Yeah…" Izuku said, blushing a little bit-he never got used to compliments on his quirk even though he heard them all the time.
"Ah, no injuries here?" they heard, and turned their heads to see-
"Recovery Girl!" Izuku said excitedly. "The Youthful Heroine!"
"Yes, glad to see you know your heroes," Recovery Girl said. "But it looked like there were injuries over here…"
"Oh, he healed my ankle-it got sprained," the girl said sheepishly.
"Healing quirk?" Recovery Girl asked, looking at Izuku. "I didn't know we had any healing quirks registered for the exam…oh, wait, you look familiar…ah, the kid with the ghosts."
Izuku nodded. "Yep! One of my ghosts has this really cool song quirk, and with a certain song, I can heal someone."
"That's very useful, but either way, healing takes energy," Recovery Girl said, taking some gummy bears out of one of her pockets and giving a few to each of them. "Here you go, dearies. Now, head home and rest up-you should get your results in around a week. I wish you the best of luck."
"Thanks, Recovery Girl!" Izuku said, then helped the girl stand up.
"Ghosts?" the girl asked, giving Izuku a confused look.
Izuku nodded. "I can see ghosts and make deals with them. Didn't think I'd be recognized, though...wonder why she already knew me…"
"Oh," the girl said. "Well, I'm Ochako Uraraka-thank you so much for helping me back there!"
"No problem-I'm Izuku Midoriya, but I just go by Izuku," Izuku said.
"Eh...ok, nice to meet you...Izuku," Uraraka said.
Izuku smiled. "Well, I hope to see you in class!" With that, he rushed over to the buses.
Thanks for the boost, Paz, Izuku said.
You needed the confidence, Paz said.
Not my fault I haven't talked to so many new people in ages, Izuku sulked.
The Sides all just laughed at that.
…..
"Hey!"
Toshi stopped and turned to see Pikachu rushing towards him.
"Hey…" Toshi said, looking at him.
"Thanks for...whatever you did back there," Pikachu said. "One second, I was fried, then I was suddenly fine-how did you do that?"
"My quirk," Toshi said.
"It can unfry my brain?" Pikachu asked.
"I guess so," Toshi said. I just wanna go to the cat cafe.
"That's so cool!" Pikachu said, then held out his hand. "I'm Denki Kaminari!"
"Hitoshi Shinso," Toshi said.
"Nice to meet you, Shinso!" Kaminari said. "I hope we both get in! If we do, wanna hang out?"
"If I get in, my three best friends are definitely getting in," Toshi said.
"Ooh, four new friends!" Kaminari said.
Plus sixteen, Toshi thought, but he didn't say anything.
"Oh, you two were awesome out there!"
Toshi tensed as a girl-entirely pink-put her arm around his shoulders.
"Aw, thanks-but my dude here should get more credit than me, he kicked butt," Kaminari said.
Social battery draining.
"I...uh...gotta go…" Toshi said, trying to inch away-they we're already back at UA, he just had to find Izuku or Katsuki.
"What else do you have planned today-can we come with?" the pink girl asked. "Ooh, I have a classmate that also took the exam-"
"Hey, Turnip-head!"
Toshi had never felt so relieved to hear Katsuki's voice as he practically heard and smelled the boy stomp over to him and grab the back of his shirt, causing Kaminari and the pink girl to squawk.
"Come on, Deku's around here somewhere, and I wanna hear what he did," Katsuki said, dragging Toshi away.
"Hey, we were talking to him!" Kaminari protested.
"Whatever, extras!" Katsuki said, dragging Toshi away faster-
"Hey, guys!" Izuku said, rushing up to them before pouting. "Kacchan, put Toshi down."
"Nah, he's fine-c'mon, let's go to the cafe," Katsuki said.
Izuku sighed, then looked at Toshi, seeming to understand, so he simply pried Katsuki's fingers off his shirt...and proceeded to swing Toshi onto his back and give him a piggyback ride.
…
The Pikachu and the Alien stared at the three as two of them walked away.
"...that boy is a full six inches shorter-"
(4 and ¾ inches actually, I checked and have no idea what my life is anymore-)
…..:)...
"Alright," Izuku said as they all looked at the envelopes sitting in front of them, Todoroki-who had insisted that they call him Shoto-staring, too, already knowing that he would be in Class 1-A. "...who wants to go first?"
"Hmmm...you know what, I'll go," Kacchan said, then grabbed his letter and opened it, pulling out…
A disk?
He set it on the table-
"I AM HERE!"
The three yelped-Todoroki's eyes widened a little-as the disk projected freaking All Might.
"Young Bakugou!" All Might said. "Congratulations on scoring a 78% on the written portion of the exam!"
"A WHAT?!" Kacchan yelled.
"The average score on the written exam is 50%, with the passing being at 25%, as it was written by Nezu, which places you as incredibly high scoring there!" All Might said.
"Tch," Kacchan muttered.
"Of course, the written exam wasn't the only portion, but never fear!" All Might said.
"Wait, why is All Might doing this anyway?" Toshi asked. "Did they seriously pay the Symbol of Peace to do the freaking acceptance letters?"
"Could be worse," Shoto said. "Could have been Endeavour."
"Tied for worst case scenario," Toshi muttered.
"Young Bakugou, you scored yourself 78 villain points, but we did not score on villain points alone!" All Might said.
"Huh?" Kacchan said.
"We also scored with rescue points!" All Might said.
"Is that why Odin told us to help people from the zero pointer?" Toshi asked.
"Yeah," Odin said as she and Brazen appeared, grinning.
"Wait, does that mean-" Toshi started.
"Young Bakugou, you scored 10 rescue points, earning 88 total points, placing you in second place!" All Might said, gesturing to a scoreboard behind him-Kacchan was second-
"Holy CR*P, Deku-!" Kacchan started.
"Nope, let me be surprised!" Izuku yelped, putting his hands over his ears and shutting his eyes.
"You have earned yourself a place in Class 1-A!" All Might said. "Young Katsuki Bakugou, this is your Hero Academia!" And the disk shut off.
"...I got in," Kacchan said.
"Both of you had better be in-I don't want to deal with him on my own," Shoto said.
"What did you say, Half-and-half?!" Kacchan exclaimed.
"I-I wanna go next," Toshi whispered, carefully grabbing his envelope and pulling at a disk as well, placing it on the table-
"Hello, or whatever."
"...what the heck is Eraserhead doing with my video?" Toshi asked, lighting up.
"That's Eraserhead?" Kacchan asked. "He looks homeless."
"That's the fun of it!" Brazen laughed.
"You got a 70 on your written exam-pretty good for this hell test, I did pretty much the same when I took it," Eraserhead said. "As for the practical, you got 28 villain points, which didn't make the benchmark on its own, but when you add 25 rescue points, you got 43 total points, putting you in 28th place-you're in Class 1-A, I'm your homeroom teacher. Go beyond plus ultra and all that." The disk shut off.
"...rude*ss," Kacchan said.
"No, more blunt-he probably didn't want to do that video," Izuku said.
"I'm in...I'm in!" Toshi said, turning to his friends. "I did it!"
"Wahoo!" Izuku said, then grabbed his envelope and also pulled out his disk-
"Am I a bear? Am I a mouse? What matters is that I'm the principal of UA high school!"
"Stoat," Izuku said bluntly, and they all stared at him. "What? Yumio and I got bored that one time when we were doing research in the Mind Palace library." (I've seen plenty of people say stoat, I don't actually know, so I'm gonna go with that.)
"Impressively, you scored 100% on the written exam, making you the first to do so!" Nezu said. "But from what we know about your quirk, that must be with help from one of your ghosts, correct? I am still very impressed, though, and would like to talk over tea sometime."
"So I at least got in," Izuku said.
"You think?!" everyone exclaimed.
"As for the practical, you also impressed there," Nezu said. "You scored 80 villain points and 60 rescue points, with a total score of 140 points, making you the highest scoring person in all the years of the exam in both areas! You're welcomed with open arms to Class 1-A! I have a feeling this will be an interesting three years." And the disk shut off.
"...woah," Izuku said.
"First place all around!" Brazen said. "Way to go!"
"All of you got in!" Odin cheered.
"Really?" Hisashi asked, entering the room-he had been cooking in the kitchen.
"Yep!" Izuku said. "And we're all in the same class!"
"That's great!" Hisashi said. "I knew you would!"
They all smiled.
This was the start of their Hero Academia.
