*me, sobbing*

Read above. This was me after a bad day. THANK YOU SO MUCH, YOU GUYS ARE SO NICE!

Hello, everyone! Feel free to ignore the above section.

Let's GOOOOOO!

*scene I forgot to write before getting to the full-on Sports Festival-M*neta hate, be warned!*

"Uh…"

Izuku looked at the class door to see a huge crowd of first-year students outside-woah.

"Why are they…?" Uraraka asked.

"Probably checking out the class that got attacked by villains," Izuku sighed, not even getting up from his seat yet-that looked like it would take a while to disperse, and he didn't feel like Floating above the crowd-he probably wasn't allowed to do that, anyway, so...yeah.

"Yeah we are!" someone exclaimed., and Izuku looked to see an incredibly short boy with purple balls on his head. "Scoping out the competition for the Sports Festival and seeing which of you can be replaced!"

"Wait, what's he talking about?" Hakagure asked.

Izuku looked at her. "If someone from another department wins the Sports Festival or ranks high enough, they are given the offer to transfer into the Hero Course-it's the second chance of the Entrance Exam, if you will, because the Entrance Exam is so bias towards physical quirks."

Everyone gave him a surprised look, while the students outside all nodded.

"See!" the short boy said. "He knows what's up!" The boy looked around the room, and to Izuku's disgust, his gaze lingered on the girls. "Woah, the girls in the Hero Course are really something else-I'm gonna take someone's spot, then we can have some fun~"

Izuku blinked at him and quickly got angry as he stood up, feeling himself shift into Hirah's form as he saw red-instantly, all his classmates got out of his way, and the students stepped back in fear as Izuku marched over and plucked the short boy off the ground, causing the boy to start to shake in terror.

"Wanna repeat that sexist comment about our classmates?" Izuku hissed-or, well, all the Sides all at once-said at the same time, giving off a really creepy voice combination, and the boy squeaked as Izuku glared at him.

"V-Villain!" the boy squeaked out.

"Oh, I'm no villain, kid," all the Sides said. "We've met real villains, faced them together as a class because of a situation we weren't prepared for, but we still came out with no deaths and few injuries-could you say the same?" He grinned, but it just made everyone step back even more as Izuku not-so-gently set the boy back on the ground before looking around at the people around him. Now just speaking as himself, he said, "Sounds like you're all here to try to take our spots, then? Well, I wish you the best of luck-the entrance exam really does let people slip through the cracks, and if you're really worthy of taking our spots…well, plus ultra, am I right?" He beamed-this smile had warmth behind it, and everyone visibly relaxed. "Now, it's the end of the day, so if you mind, I know that we at least have a comprehension test tomorrow to see what we've retained from middle school, and since we all share the same classes as first years…you might want to head home and study for that!"

Instantly, the crowd dispersed, and Izuku started to turn back to his classmates-

"Woah, that was sick, bro!"

Izuku startled, then turned to see a boy with silver hair and…bleached eyelashes? Walk up to their door.

"I'm from Class B next door!" the boy said. "I'm Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu! We thought you'd all have huge egos because of the villain attack-"

"Surviving a villain attack shouldn't give anyone an ego," Odin said. "It's an experience that should remind people that life is precious, especially when you have to fight for it-please don't assume our classmates wouldn't be scared, we very easily could have died, and we all understand this."

"O-Oh…" Tetsutetsu said–that was his first and last name? That was…odd, but then again-are we seriously just going to focus on his name?!

Izuku took a deep breath. "Sorry, just…nerves-it was terrifying, and that wasn't exactly something that…I'm sorry for snapping at you."

"No, no, dude, you're right, I should be the one apologizing," Tetsutetsu said, scratching the back of his neck. "Oh, wait, weren't you that guy that was sobbing earlier and the reporters continued the live feed?"

"What?!" everyone exclaimed besides Shoto, who just mumbled something.

"Oh, yeah, that happened," Izuku said nervously.

"Why didn't you say something!?" Iida exclaimed.

"Are you alright!?" Uraraka added, walking over and examining Izuku's face.

"Because it was just a way to make the reporters feel guilty?" Izuku said.

"You started sobbing-you think that's just-" Kacchan started.

Izuku sighed, fully turning and facing his classmates. "The reporters shouldn't have been crowding the gate again, especially knowing that they were the reason behind the attack going unnoticed in the first place-at least, why we didn't have any preparations and were a little less wary. Ten…Shiga-...the guy with the disintegrating quirk was able to slip by and away because the reporters were so focused on getting a scoop, so I just made them feel bad."

"Woah, really?" Tetsutetsu asked, and Izuku looked back at him.

"I can start sobbing at the drop of a hat," Izuku said. "I learned as a little kid that people are uncomfortable with crying-in fact, there were more than a few reporters that just stopped instantly and ran away from the scene because they didn't want to have to watch me cry, and the ones that stayed were all really uncomfortable, and if they were still continuing the broadcast, there will be backlash from their companies because there is a correlation between reporters questioning victims that clearly don't want to be questioned and views dropping, which means that the companies will lose viewers once that becomes part of their reputation, and if the company continues to let that happen, it will eventually be shut down, so there will be repercussions."

"...you seriously thought of all of that, huh?" Kirishima asked. "So manly!"

Izuku shrugged. "Well, school's over for the day, and I wasn't joking about that comprehension test-Math class, I'm pretty sure-yep!-which means that we should all head home and study." Izuku took one last look at Tetsutetsu. "Tell your class that we're excited to compete with them during the Sports Festival, but we also aren't planning on losing."

"O-Ok," Tetsutetsu said, then left.

Meanwhile, Kacchan walked over and tapped the top of Izuku's horns-

Those were still out!?

"Eep!" Izuku said, quickly making the horns disappear-tail and wings, too-those had been out the entire time!? "Why didn't you warn me sooner!?"

Everyone just burst out laughing.

"Come on, let's get going," Kacchan said. "You're heading to my place for dinner tonight, right?"

"Ah, right, Dad's working late," Izuku said as the two left the classroom, the rest of the class quickly filing out behind them as well.

.now we get the part where Uraraka admits her reason for wanting to be a hero, goes pretty much the same except Toshi and Momo are also there, the Bakusquad dragged our dearly beloved Kacchan away screaming, while Shoto said something about having to head home. :( Poor boy. I just don't wanna write the scene because it's basically exactly the same-

Izuku smiled as he stretched while waiting for their class to get called out to go into the stadium-yep, entire stadium.

Paz, you're gonna need to work overtime for this event, Izuku said. As extroverted as possible.

Already on it! Paz said as a wave went through him, and he felt anxiety being pulled back.

Thanks, Hinata, Izuku said.

No problem. Hinata said.

"Izuku."

"Hmm?" Izuku said, looking up at Shoto.

"I'm going to beat you at the Sports Festival-that is my one goal for the day," Shoto said.

"Ha?!" Kacchan exclaimed. "Don't even think you can beat me or somethin', Icyhot!?"

"Izuku's the strongest in the class-you're little more than a stepping stone-I don't have a doubt that I can beat you," Shoto said, and Izuku hesitated-something felt…off.

Emory, I'm turning on your quirk, Izuku said, letting himself see emotions-

Woah. Shoto was angry. Like, angrier than Izuku had ever seen him-granted, he also didn't check emotions often-yep, turning it off, it gave him a headache to use too much-but still.

Izuku opened his mouth to say something when Aizawa-sensei poked his head into the room.

"Alright, it's time," Aizawa-sensei said. "Everyone ready?"

Everyone nodded-they were all wearing their gym uniforms because their hero costumes would give them too much of an advantage-Aoyama was wearing his belt, but that was necessary for his quirk because of how painful it could get, so…yeah.

"AAANNNDDD, HERE WE GO!" Present Mic exclaimed. "FIRST UP, WE HAVE THE CLASS THAT, IN ONLY THEIR FIRST WEEK, SURVIVED A VILLAIN ATTACK, IT'S CLASS 1-A!"

The entire stadium cheered as the class walked out of the hallway and into the open section-

Too many people-

Darlina, Hinata, pull back, Paz, full-throttle.

Izuku felt himself relaxing after that first second of terror-he's alright, he's alright! This is going to be…really nice!

"NEXT UP, THEY HAVEN'T BEEN IN THE SPOTLIGHT YET, BUT THEY'RE HERO COURSE ALL THE SAME, IT'S CLASS 1-B!" Present Mic said. Then, with a ton less fanfare, Present Mic introduced the other classes-yeah, people are focusing on the hero course, but the other departments are awesome, too!

"AND NOW FOR THE REF, IT'S THE 18+ HERO, MIDNIGHT!" Present Mic exclaimed.

WHY IS THE 18+ HERO THE REF FOR THE FIRST YEARS?! All the Sides exclaimed.

"Alright, it's time for this year's Sports Festival for our lovely first years!" Midnight said. "First up, we will have our First Year's Representative come and give a speech! Please welcome the first place winner of the entrance exam-!"

Wait, wasn't that…? Izuku asked.

"Izuku Midoriya!" Midnight said. "Please come up!"

Was anyone gonna warn me about this?! Izuku exclaimed as he started to walk forward, not even sure what was keeping him moving at this moment.

I forgot this was a thing! Yui exclaimed. What can we come up with on the spot?!

Uh…Hero, Support, General, Business, long ago, the four departments lived together in harmony- Izuku started. (two points if you get the reference-)

That would've been hilarious two hundred years ago, but not now! Yui cried.

We should not fake it till we make it, Darnell said.

Ooh, so I placed first in the entrance exam-I actually had something prepared and remember most of it and know a good way to incorporate what happened into it, let me! Brazen said as they reached the stage. Midnight smiled at him before handing him the microphone-

"Hello, everyone!" Brazen said through Izuku, and just barely, Izuku noticed the surprise on Midnight's face-it was so subtle that nobody that wasn't right next to her would have noticed. "Well, hasn't this already been a crazy year-and it hasn't even been a month yet! My class has already been through a bunch, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't look out for others as well-and I'm not just talking about our sister class, 1-B. Gen Ed, Support, and Business have all come here with all they've got."

Alright, now bringing it back.

"However, don't underestimate the Hero Course, either," Brazen said. "We're all here to fight to win, and everyone has earned their place to be seen." He smiled. "But that also includes me. Look out, everyone, because I don't intend to hold back, and I expect the same from you." With that, he handed the mic back to Midnight as the whole crowd cheered, but Izuku hurried back to his classmates.

"Nice speech!" Momo said to him.

"Thanks, I borrowed it from one of my Sides," Izuku said. "That was practically on the spot."

"You didn't prep something?" Momo asked.

"No one reminded me!" Izuku said.

"Now, it's time for the first event!" Midnight said as a large wheel spun-

Ha, all the events are already decided, this is just for show.

Duly noted, Izuku said as it landed on-

"Obstacle Course! Would everyone turn to the lit-up entrance, that is where you will begin! There are three obstacles you will run through around the stadium to the door on the other side-you must stay in bounds, keep in mind!"

Everyone started to gather over there, and out of the corner of his eye, Izuku saw Shoto (looking more visibly annoyed than earlier…we'll go talk to him during the break) and he understood what he was about to do.

Darlina, using your quirk! Izuku said as he floated above the squishing together crowd the moment that "START!" was called-

Shoto, as Izuku had expected, created a large ice wall to freeze as many of the competition as he could, but all of 1-A managed to stay free and keep going, along with most of 1-B (at least, Izuku thinks, he didn't really recognize most of 1-B yet-as well as about half of the support students, a little less of Gen Ed, and the business students…weren't really participating.

That's normal-they usually don't, Brazen said.

Yeah, I know, Izuku said as he let his wings burst from his back and he shot out of the entrance, glancing back as his class emerged from the entrance, Shoto shooting out of the entrance behind him-

"AND THE STUDENTS ARE COMING TO THE FIRST OBSTACLE-YOU SEE HERE ARE VERY LARGE ROBOTS-YOU'LL WANT TO BE CAREFUL AROUND THEM, AS WELL AS THE LITTLE ONES SWARMING AROUND THEIR FEET!" Present Mic said.

"Do you have to be so loud?" Aizawa-sensei sighed.

"Shou, of course I'm gonna be loud!" Present Mic replied as Izuku began to spin, letting himself get covered in a large shield illusion as he collided with one of the zero pointers, adding on the strength quirk to get some more oomph into it to make the zero pointer roll back into some of the smaller robots, creating a large dent as he did that-

Mom, Mama, you guys remember where the wires are from last time, right? Izuku asked.

Of course, Odin said.

Alright, Inko's quirk, Attraction, can pull at small objects-let's pull some wires! Izuku said and reached towards the wires-as long as he knew where they were, he didn't need to see them, and with Odin and Yui's guidance, he quickly pulled the wires and rolled to the side, continuing to fly past-this was about getting through the fastest, and Shoto had barely stopped to freeze the other zero pointer-

Izuku smirked slightly as he saw the next obstacle-a large chasm-Shoto would have some trouble with that one, while Izuku flew over seamlessly, then continued on.

"AND MIDORIYA IS JUST IGNORING ALL OBSTACLES, TREATING THIS LIKE IT'S NOTHING!" Present Mic said. "TODOROKI IS DOING EVERYTHING HE CAN JUST TO KEEP UP, BUT THE FALL WILL EVEN GIVE THIS ICE USER SOME TROUBLE TO MAKE SURE OTHER COMPETITORS DON'T USE THE ICE AS WELL! AH, BAKUGOU JUST USED HIS EXPLOSIONS TO COMPLETELY FLY OVER AS WELL, BUT HE STILL FINDS HIMSELF IN THIRD PLACE CURRENTLY, AND MIDORIYA IS JUST FLYING OVER THE MINEFIELD!"

I'm sorry…the what!? Izuku exclaimed.

Chiyo-san's on site, so don't worry about others getting injured right now-we can still head over to her station later if you want to help with healing, Odin said.

that would be nice, Izuku said as he flew over the minefield, noticing that Shoto and Kacchan were fighting in the minefield, while he noticed Toshi a bit further back-oh, he had a pink-haired girl…from support, from the looks of it, under his control-she was helping him through, so that was good-he'd get in a good rank at this rate.

(And a small part of him felt satisfied that he hadn't seen that short boy from earlier-)

Izuku put in some more speed as he made his way over the finish line, making his wings disappear as he tucked and rolled on the ground, on his feet as he ran through the finish line.

"AND THE WINNER OF THE FIRST ROUND IS IZUKU MIDORIYA OF CLASS 1-A!" Present Mic said.

"Woo," Izuku said, stretching a little-probably shouldn't have done that show-y roll, but oh well.

If you want to do that again, create some clouds next time, Brazen suggested. Even I'm not that reckless.

Izuku chuckled slightly as he smiled at Midnight, who gave him a high-five.

"IN SECOND PLACE IS SHOTO TODOROKI!" Present Mic said. "IN THIRD PLACE IS KATSUKI BAKUGOU, BOTH ALSO FROM CLASS 1-A!"

"Dangit," Kacchan grumbled, but Izuku walked up and held out a hand to both for a high-five. Kacchan instinctively gave him a high-five, while Shoto just looked at his hand. Izuku quickly turned on Emory's quirk, saw that Shoto was still angry and annoyed-did I do something wrong?-and lowered his hand as more people began to make it through the finish line, and Izuku walked up and started offering high-fives-all of 1-A gave him a high-five, some of 1-B did, and that girl that had been with Toshi gave him a high-five as well.

"AND THAT'S ALL 42 STUDENTS THAT WILL BE PASSING TODAY!" Present Mic said after a while, and Izuku high-fived an excited Gen Ed student. "GOOD JOB, EVERYONE! TAKE IT AWAY, MIDNIGHT!"

"Alright, it's time for the second stage!" Midnight said from the stage as the wheel spun again, this time showing a…Cavalry battle.

Midnight quickly explained the rules-"

"42 will have five points, and from there, each position will have five more points than the last person," Midnight said. "Besides our first place, which is worth ten million points!"

Izuku blinked up at her. Did she just say…yep, I can feel people's desire to take that from me from here..

"You have 15 minutes to form your teams of four!" Midnight said.

We have a huge target on our back-either way, forming a team…42 isn't divisible by 4, that's two people that won't be able to participate, not taking into account- Izuku said.

No time to worry about that, Yumio said as a few of Izuku's classmates came up to him.

"Hey, Midoriya, mind if I join your team?!" Uraraka blurted out.

"Me, too!" Mina said.

"Don't forget me," Toshi said.

"10 mil, let me join your team!" the pink-haired girl said-she was still around Toshi, who looked like he was regretting all life choices.

"I wanna join, too!" Dark Shadow said, pulling Tokoyami over.

"Dark Shadow!" Tokoyami groaned.

"Um…" Izuku trailed off, glancing between the 5 of them-he really had to pick and choose? He could only have three of them on his team, which would leave two out-

Don't stress-do math, Brazen said.

Especially simple addition-if you really want to stress-do math, we can try to calculate exactly how many people are in the audience, at least, Yumio said.

There are at least a dozen people in the audience, Yui said.

That's…not incorrect, but that's not what I meant, Yumio said.

Not the time, guys, Izuku said.

"Um…" Izuku said, looking at all his friends. "Only four people per team…"

"Alright!" Uraraka said. "So you can manage people really well-who do you want on your team?"

"Hmm…" Izuku said, glancing back and forth.

With 10 million points, if we could keep it the entire time, we'd have a guaranteed win-this is simply a game of keep-away for us, Izuku said. Which would mean that our best bet to stay away from others is to…float above the arena!

"With me, I'll just be playing keep-away," Izuku said. "The best bet for that is for a team that can float…"

"Ooh, so definitely me, right?" Uraraka asked.

Izuku nodded. "Yeah…"

"I have jet packs!" the pink-haired support student said. "Mei Hatsume, future owner of Hatsume Industries! My babies are the absolute best!"

"...babies?" they all asked.

"Oh, she must mean her inventions-support students tend to say that, huh?" Brazen asked.

"They have since I started haunting these halls," Odin muttered.

"Oh, one of those was that voice from earlier!" Hatsume said. "So? Jetpacks?"

"Sounds good," Izuku said. "And I can float, so we just need one more person, probably the rider."

Dark Shadow, Toshi, and Mina all exchanged looks, while Tokoyami simply said, "Dark Shadow and I can team up with the one that doesn't-to float, I won't say that two people as the rider would be the…lightest."

"Fumi!" Dark Shadow said.

"I mean no offense, Dark Shadow, but we are still two people," Tokoyami said. "May we meet in the next round."

So we have between acid and brainwashing for quirks-it won't matter to us, either way, Izuku said. Mina would be lighter, but…

"In that case, Toshi can be the rider," Izuku said.

"Aw!" Mina said, then turned to Tokoyami. "Alright, let's go find two more people!" With that, the two walked away as Mina linked arms with Tokoyami.

"Ok, so Toshi's the rider, Uraraka can be in the front, Hatsume and I will be in the back," Izuku said. "Our goal is to just float above the arena-wait, Uraraka, you can keep us in the air that whole time, right?"

"It'll be a challenge, but we have the break after this for me to recover, right?" Uraraka asked.

"Yep," Izuku said.

"Then I should be fine-if not, I'll let you guys know if I'm reaching my limit," Uraraka said.

"Good," Izuku said. "I'll copy your quirk, Uraraka, and I'll take as much weight off as I can-namely, I'll make you weightless while you work on Toshi. Sounds good?"

"Sounds good!" Uraraka said.

"Wait, you can copy quirks?!" Hatsume asked, sounding excited.

"Yeah, as long as I understand how they work," Izuku said.

"Nice!" Hatsume said.

"If your quirk goes over your limit, Uraraka, I'll create a large cloud so we can rest on there-actually, maybe it would be best to…no, I don't think I could keep a solid cloud that entire time, at least, not one large enough to carry us all, let alone do something else if someone were to come attack us-if that's the case, Toshi, that's your focus, brainwashing people into staying away from us."

"Gotcha," Toshi said.

"Does the plan sound good?" Izuku said.

"How far up?" Hatsume asked.

"Hmm…five meters should be enough," Izuku said. (I wrote five memes should be enough before realizing what I was writing, and I would just like to share this fact, memes are now a measurement.)

"Great!" Hatsume said. "Now that that's settled, do you hero course guys need new equipment for your hero costumes? We've gotten costume change requests, but not much on support equipment yet!"

"I think that first years don't usually focus on support equipment until later on-sometimes it doesn't even happen until second year," Brazen said.

"That voice again!" Hatsume said.

"Oh, that's Brazen-long story," Izuku said. "Either way." He looked around to see what other teams were forming. Mina and Tokoyami had grabbed Shoji and Ojiro, Kacchan had grabbed Sero, Kirishima, and Aoyama, and Shoto had Momo, Iida, and Kaminari. Distantly, he noticed Tetsutetsu-he'd been looking for a reason to go talk to the other boy, but he hadn't really had much of a chance-with a blond-haired boy that looked…familiar, a girl with vines for hair, and the last-place Gen Ed student-gunning for a place in the hero course, if she did well enough here, she'd be recommended for moving-same with Hatsume, although Izuku had a feeling that she wasn't looking to move to the hero course.

"Mostly students from the hero course-no wonder, the Sports Festival is usually biased towards the hero students-the Cultural Festival is the complete opposite, though," Izuku muttered. "I haven't had the best chance to learn about everyone's quirks yet, though, but…do any of you know more about 1-B's quirks? I didn't really have a chance to stay back and watch because I just flew through the obstacle course…"

"Tetsutetsu is literally Kirishima, but he goes silver," Uraraka said. "And I think someone called the vine-girl Shiozaki? Uh…"

"Hmm…I haven't had the chance to talk to the reps at council meetings yet," Izuku sighed. The first one's two days after the Sports Festival, but from there, I'll be able to watch the recordings and take notes, anyway. "Anything else to add?"

"Not really," Toshi sighed.

"I was under mind control the entire time, so I have no idea!" Hatsume said.

"...so we've got plenty of unknowns," Izuku said. "Our best bet really is to avoid, then. But if too many people come at us…we'll have to be ready to get on the ground and use our quirks to fight." He paused, then looked at Hatsume.

"My quirk is called Zoom!" Hatsume said. "I can see up to five kilometers away!"

Izuku blinked, then squinted at her eyes-there were little crosses in her eyes-that must be how she sees so well, it's almost like a zoom-in camera-

-and he suddenly had a really close up of the center of Hatsume's eye for half a second before he turned off her quirk, blinking as he adjusted to the new information.

"That's really cool," Izuku said. "Gives you a really good attention to detail, too-no wonder you went into support with such good eyesight."

Hatsume beamed at him. "Well, I do have some babies to help fight, but I'll leave that mostly to you guys!"

"Alright…you have how many babies on you?" Izuku asked. "What exactly are we working with with your babies?"

Hatsume beamed. "So many!"

.

"AAANNNDDD GO!"

Team Shinsou instantly shot up through the air, going high enough that no other team could reach them. That being said, that didn't seem to deter Bakugou, who instantly shot up from his group using his explosions to go after Team Shinsou.

"IS THAT ALLOWED?!" Present Mic asked.

"As long as he doesn't touch the ground, I'll allow it!" Midnight said.

"ALRIGHT, THEN!" Present Mic said.

"HEY, KACCHAN!" Shinsou yelled at the explosive blond, but, of course, the boy already knew his quirk and didn't answer.

"Hatsume!" Midoriya said, and, cackling, Hatsume took out a disk and threw it at Bakugou, who tried to avoid it, but it shot out a netting material that bound him up and made him fall-his team barely caught him before he hit the ground, and as soon as the net was detached from him, it shot back towards Hatsume, who caught it and slid it back into her pocket.

"Woo!" Hatsume said. "Hatsume Industries, don't forget it, people!"

A few teams looked up at Team Shinsou, but otherwise, quickly realized that they weren't going to have much luck if they tried to go against the floating team, so they instead started gunning for Todoroki and Bakugou.

Meanwhile, Team Shinsou just smiled as they watched the chaos unfold.

"Do we wanna actually fight soon?" Uraraka asked.

"Feeling nauseous?" Midoriya asked, clearly concerned.

"No, not like that!" Uraraka said. "It's just…we're supposed to be showing off our skills in the festival, and…"

They all exchanged looks, then Midoriya smiled. "Gonna make a cloud and drop us fast, ok? Get ready."

They all nodded and braced themselves as Midoriya created a cloud-

"WHAT'S THIS? IS TEAM SHINSOU FINALLY MAKING A MOVE AT THE HALFWAY POINT OF THE EVENT?!"

So, of course, everyone looked up as the cloud dropped, carrying the team-

"Toshi, here's a bo staff, Hatsume, grappling hook-you give off oddly Mabel mixed with Ford vibes, so that should work-Uraraka, you seem like a knife person, so these won't actually hurt anyone, but please be careful with them," Midoriya said, handing out the weapons as they landed. (Two points if you get the reference, and am I the only one getting those vibes from Hatsume? Please tell me I'm not-)

Instantly, other teams began to rush at them, going for the headband, but Shinsou proved proficient with the staff and battled off other teams, using his quirk if they weren't his classmates and actually causing two teams to get disqualified-

"I'll be taking your headband now."

"AND WE FINALLY SEE A FACEOFF BETWEEN TEAM SHINSOU AND TEAM TODOROKI-WHO WILL WIN!?"

"Kaminari!" Todoroki said as Momo started to create something-

Immediately, Midoriya and Uraraka switched places, Shinsou maneuvering to make that possible as Midoriya held out his arms and created a large shield-

"A metal shield?" Kaminari said as he started to spark. "You really think that will work-"

He let out a large shock-

-a bunch of the other teams got shocked-

-the shield fell, revealing a thick layer of clouds that disappeared as soon as the lightning stopped, revealing Team Shinsou perfectly fine.

"THAT'S TWO MORE TEAMS DOWN, ONLY SIX LEFT!"

Team Shinsou retreated back as the other teams started to recover, but they weren't charging at the two teams-after all, they didn't know if they would get shocked again by getting too close-

But now Team Shinsou was trapped! There was ice all around them.

"I don't have fire that's gonna melt this fast enough…" Midoriya muttered.

"TEAM SHINSOU HAS NOWHERE LEFT TO RUN, AND TEAM TODOROKI IS TAKING THIS CHANCE!"

Meanwhile…

Team Bakugou was rushing at Team Monoma over and over again, trying to get back the points that had been stolen from them just minutes before, and they were starting to learn more on the spot about their opponents as Monoma reached toward, almost as if to punch Bakugou, but Bakugou grabbed his wrist-

Monoma opened his hand and let off an explosion in Bakugou's face-

Bakugou ducked his head to the side, clearly surprising the other team as he reached forward and still snatched the headbands around Monoma's neck.

"W-you aren't surprised that I just used your quirk!?" Monoma exclaimed, eyes wide.

"Ha!" Bakugou said. "Yui and Deku throw my quirk back in my face all the time!" With that, he punched and knocked the entire team off balance.

"Wait, really?" Kirishima asked as they started to rush away to find another team to fight.

"Well, duh," Bakugou said. "I had to practice fighting with someone-who better than Deku and Mind freak?! And Icyhot, too, I guess-speaking off, let's get that 10 million points!"

The others on his team exchanged looks, but decided to go with it and started to rush over to the fight over there-

Shinsou was dodging Todoroki's ice to the right, which most would think was a horrible strategy-that's where his ice was coming from-but Todoroki was starting to slow down in his left anyway, which made it all the better for them to fight against him-well, not better, but easier was the word they were probably looking for here.

Team Todoroki jumped back as Midoriya kicked out and at the ground, making a big indent in the ground-

"Iida," Todoroki said.

"Hang on tight!" Iida said, getting in position to run-

"RECIPRICO BURST!" Iida said, rushing his team towards Team Shinsou, Todoroki putting a wall of ice behind them so they couldn't escape-

"Well, Iida, would you look at that-your fly is down!" Shinsou said, which made Iida give a horrified look for half a second as he opened his mouth to respond-

Todoroki quickly slapped a hand over Iida's mouth to keep him from getting brainwashed-

Todoroki reached his other hand towards the headband, but Shinsou raised the staff and smacked his hand away quickly as Midoriya kicked out again, this time kicking at Iida's engines with a tiny bit of super strength, knocking Iida down and causing the other two to quickly adjust to hold Todoroki as Iida struggled to get back up-

Todoroki reached forward, and almost as if on instinct, his left hand reached up and lit on fire-

It quickly went out as Todoroki waved his arm around, making it so the fire wouldn't stay lit-

Shinsou took this few seconds of distraction and reached forward and grabbed one of the headbands around Todoroki's neck, then Team Shinsou quickly retreated as the countdown began.

"10!"

Iida got back up and rejoined his team.

"9!"

The team started to turn around to go back after Team Shinsou.

"8!"

Team Bakugou arrived on the scene, and Midoriya tossed a huge…frying pan to Shinsou? Who took it and held it out, ready to strike.

"7!"

Another surge forward.

"6!"

Team Todoroki rushed at Team Shinsou as well.

"5!"

The three teams collided-

"4!"

-with Team Todoroki just a second behind Team Bakugou.

"3!"

Bakugou reached for Shinsou's headband.

"2!"

Shinsou hit his hand with the frying pan-

"1!"

-and swung it around to hit away Todoroki's hand.

"TIME IS UP!"

The teams all stopped, and the riders instantly got down.

"MAINTAINING FIRST PLACE THE ENTIRE TIME, WE HAVE TEAM SHINSOU!"

The team in question all cheered and gave each other high-fives as tears sprouted in Midoriya's eyes.

"SECOND PLACE GOES TO TEAM BAKUGOU!"

"Almost!" Bakugou exclaimed.

"Kacchan, you were going against us-we know every move you would have made," Odin said.

"THIRD PLACE IS TEAM TODOROKI!"

"Third place, not bad!" Kaminari said, but his teammates didn't seem to share that sentiment.

"AND THE LAST TEAM TO ADVANCE TO THE FINALS IS TEAM MONOMA!"

"Ooh, 1-B!" Midoriya said. "More of a chance to look into their quirks!"

"Of course that's your first thought," Shinsou said with a smile.

"NOW, WE WILL HAVE AN HOUR BREAK SO OUR PARTICIPANTS MAY GET READY AND HAVE SOMETHING TO EAT!"

"Alright!" Midoriya said as they all started to file off the field-

.

"Izuku…we need to talk. Alone."

"Hmm?" Izuku asked, looking up at Shoto, quickly turning on Emory's quirk-the emotions from earlier were still there. He turned it off quickly. "Ok." He smiled at his friends. "We'll catch up with you guys-save us a spot at a table, please!"

With that, the two separated from the group.

"What's up?" Izuku asked. "Does it have anything to do with why you're so angry?"

"You can…of course you can tell," Shoto said.

Izuku hunched his shoulders a little as he leaned against the wall-they were in a small hallway. "You seemed…off, earlier, so I took a peek at your emotions to see if I could get a read on the situation…sorry. So? What's wrong?"

Shoto took a deep breath. "He's here today, and he was spouting all this bs about how I have to win the Sports Festival to be a better 'masterpiece.'" He clenched his fists and jaw. "I f*cking hate him."

Izuku hesitated, then held out his arms. "Would a hug help?"

"No," Shoto said.

"Fair enough," Izuku said, dropping his arms to the side. "Is…is there anything I can do to help?"

Shoto shook his head. "But I…I used my fire-I swore that I'd never use his fire."

Izuku blinked, then sighed. "Shoto…we've had this conversation before. It's not his fire. He doesn't control it, he doesn't create it. You do."

"But it came from him," Shoto said, reaching up and touching his scar. "It all boils down to him, it's all because of him, it's his fault that my mother burnt my face, it's his fault that Touya's gone, it's his fault that my quirk is so broken-"

"Your quirk isn't broken, Shoto," Izuku said. "It's perfect the way it is-"

"Easy for you to say!" Shoto said. "You don't have to use any one part of your quirk-if you hate some aspect of your quirk, you can just go without using it for forever! I have to use my fire to warm myself up-"

"And yet you still let yourself freeze," Izuku said. "That's the difference, Shoto. Yes, I don't have to use different parts of my quirk, I won't deny that-I've been avoiding Disconnect for years now, but I don't have to face the consequences otherwise-you, on the other hand? Your quirk isn't just ice! It's Half-and-Half, ice and fire. For you, they go hand in hand, and that's the-"

"I would rather be freaking quirkless than have this quirk!" Shoto snapped, and Izuku froze. Shoto did as well.

"I…I'm sorry-" Shoto started.

"You don't mean that," Izuku whispered.

"I-" Shoto started.

"Look, I get it, ok?" Izuku said. "I get not wanting to use parts of your quirk because you consider it to be from someone else-literally none of the quirks I use are my own! And that's why I can say that your quirk is ice and fire. You don't have your sperm donor in your head to say when you can and can't use your quirk. You're completely in control of it yourself-you were actually born with it-do you know what I would've given to have a quirk like yours when I was younger? I begged whatever higher being there is to give me something. Every single day until I met Odin-every day for five whole years."

Shoto looked surprised at that. "...what?"

"I didn't meet Odin until I was nine, Shoto," Izuku said. "You want to say that you're better off quirkless? Trust me when I say that you don't know what you're talking about." Izuku started to reach up-to that old, faded scar on his shoulder from when Kacchan-Kacchan!-had been "joking around" when he "hadn't had control over his quirk." It was barely visible anymore and hidden under his clothes-but Izuku quickly lowered his hand and met Shoto's eyes. "That's not even to mention that Half-and-Half is an amazing quirk. Ice and Fire? That implied third part that you might be able to have a small control over water by combining your ice and fire at the same time as you shoot it out? It's your quirk, and it's incredibly beautiful, and you need to learn to stop thinking that it's his, because it's not. Now, copy? That's not mine. Demon form? Not mine. Occupy? Definitely not mine, but you were born with your quirk, and that makes it entirely yours." He took a deep breath. "But, then again, it's been a year now since we first met, and you still haven't listened to what I've said-why would I expect that you start now?" He took another deep breath. "Let's just…is there anything else you need to say?"

"Have…have you felt…about your quirk…" Shoto trailed off.

"Not the point," Izuku said.

"No, I think we actually need to talk-there's…there's so much you haven't told me," Shoto said. "You already know so much about me-you already know about what happened to my mom, you know about everything with him, you've helped me come to accept everything and actually go see her again, but…you don't talk to me! I didn't know about Dave until you were having a breakdown over it. I didn't know that you met Odin when you were nine. I…I don't know so much."

Izuku hesitated. "...Kacchan and Toshi don't, either."

"Of course they do-" Shoto started.

"They know that I met Odin at nine, and they know about Dave, but that's only because they were actually there," Izuku said. "They don't know much about how I met Odin-heck, Kacchan's been begging us to even tell him stuff about her practically since the two first met. They don't know that I can make myself cry at the drop of a hat. They don't know that Paz…nevermind, you don't need to know about that."

"What-" Shoto started.

"There's so much that happens with me that I don't talk about," Izuku said. "But…there's still stuff you do know. You already know about the year checkpoints, and you know more about Yui than Kacchan and Toshi do." He sighed. "Look, just…let's go eat. We still have the final round." He quickly turned on Emory's quirk and saw that the anger and agitation was still there, but it was mostly gone…replaced by hurt and betrayal-

Izuku turned and quickly walked away.

"Izuku, wait!" Shoto said, but Izuku was all-out sprinting at this point.

(I hope that scene didn't suck, it completely derailed and I didn't know how to change it back because this felt nicer but more angst-filled-)

Izuku was now smiling as he looked at the roster for the third and final round-one-on-one fights!

First up, it was him against Toshi…well, that would be fun! Then, Shoto would go against Sero, Kaminari would go against Shiozaki (her hair was vines, that was her entire quirk, it was really cool!). Then, Iida versus Hatsume! Aoyama was going against the Gen Ed student, Isamu Suzuki, apparently she could get an entire sense of her surroundings, it was really cool! Monoma was going against Momo next-he had a copy quirk! Izuku would definitely have to hunt him down later to ask questions. Then, Kirishima was against Tetsutetsu-they…literally had the same quirk, except Tetsutetsu made his body into steel instead of just outright hardening his skin. And, finally, Kacchan against Uraraka!

"Alright, now, would Shinsou and Midoriya enter the arena for their fight, and everyone else head to their designated viewing locations-if you're up next, head to the prep rooms!" Midnight said.

Izuku and Toshi stayed at the edges of the arena as everyone else left, and once it was just the two of them, they stepped into the arena.

"Alright, now, the rules are simple-push your opponent out of the ring, or make them admit defeat, or make it so they can no longer continue to fight!" Midnight said. "Understood?"

Both boys nodded.

"Alright!" Midnight said, leaving the arena. "AAANNNDDD, START!"

Instantly, Toshi ran at Izuku, who instantly dodged-this was going to be a little too easy, no offense meant to Toshi, but…Izuku had kinda been the one to help teach him how to fight? Which meant-

Izuku knew Toshi's weak point-just as he threw a punch towards Izuku and he was out of the way, Izuku grabbed his arm and quickly powered up Odin's super strength quirk and tossed him just out of the arena.

"AND SHINSOU'S OUT-MIDORIYA MOVES ONTO THE NEXT ROUND!" Present Mic said.

Izuku walked over and helped Toshi up. "Sorry 'bout that."

"It's fine," Toshi said.

"AW, WHAT SPORTSMANSHIP!" Present Mic cooed as the two boys walked out of the arena together and made their way to their booth as Sero vs Shoto started-

Shoto just froze Sero and won.

"FIRST TWO ROUNDS DONE IN A SNAP!" Present Mic said. "WILL THE NEXT ROUNDS BE MORE ENTERTAINING?!"

"Can you not?" Aizawa-sensei sighed.

Next, Shiozaki won, then Iida (that was…pretty funny to watch, honestly, because Hatsume was using him as free advertising, and Iida had grumbled when he'd gotten back, while the rest of the class chuckled.)

Aoyama won the next round (but since Suzuki had reached the third round, Izuku was looking forward to seeing the recommendation for her to move to go through).

Monoma won against Momo, but when she came up, Izuku noticed that she was feeling down-not even seeing her emotions, she straight-up looked sad-so he started gushing about how awesome her fighting style was and how close the fight came-if they had a rematch in the near future, Izuku was looking forward to seeing Momo win-it was going to be great! Thankfully, that got her in a better mood.

Kirishima vs Tetsutetsu was a draw with them knocking each other out.

Kacchan and Uraraka went all out, and people were mad at Kacchan for beating up a girl, to which Aizawa-sensei had grabbed the mic and scolded people, saying that Kacchan had showed her more than enough respect by treating her as an equal.

After that fight, Kirishima and Tetsutetsu woke up and did an arm wrestling match-Kirishima won that one while Izuku had been in the waiting room, then he took a deep breath and got up, walking to the arena-

-and on his way, he bumped into none other than Endeavor, the absolute idiot.

"Oh, you're the kid that's won both rounds so far," Endeavor said, then scoffed. "Not for much longer. You're just a stepping stone-my Shoto was created to surpass All Might-all you are is some scrawny kid-"

"Would you shut your mouth before I make you?" Izuku sighed.

"Excuse me!?" Endeavor roared.

"You heard me-or is there really that much fire in your ears?" Yui asked, causing Endeavor to freeze (if only)-he clearly recognized that voice, even if he wasn't sure where from. "The first thing you say in reference to your son is how he was created to surpass-what a sorry excuse for a parent." She sighed. "Ah, I feel so bad for Rei-don't you-"

"What-" Endeavor started.

"Aw, you don't recognize me, Enji?" Yui asked as she appeared next to Izuku, but they both did the same movements-Endeavor instantly paled, as if he had seen a ghost (oh wait!) "I mean, it's been a few years now, hasn't it?" They both sighed. "If only we never had to meet again-still on this delusion, aren't you? All you can think about is surpassing All Might? Well, I've got news for you." She smirked as she and Izuku turned to continue to walk. "You can work for all your life to surpass All Might, and Shoto may still do it, but that will be on his own merit, because get the smoke out of your eyes-we aren't All Might, and comparing us is a sin of its own. And Shoto?" The two laughed. "Shoto isn't you!"

.

"Start!"

"You know," Izuku said, looking at Shoto. "This idiot approached us before the match, babbling on about how I was a stepping stone in your path to surpass All Might. Mama and I gave him quite the scare."

Shoto gave him a semi-surprised look, then instantly sent forth a wave of ice, but Izuku smiled and opened his mouth, using his dad's fire breath to burn away the ice as he avoided getting hit-didn't want to get frozen like Sero had, after all.

"Like, seriously, you should have seen the look on his face!" Izuku said, dodging more ice. "He went, like white pale as if he'd seen a ghost! It was hilarious!"

Shoto glared at him, and Izuku dared look at his emotions again-yep, still angry, still hurt, still betrayed, still agitated.

Shoto sent more waves of ice towards Izuku, but he simply turned off that quirk and side stepped, breathing fire as he went.

"SINCE WHEN COULD HE BREATHE FIRE-HAVE YOU SEEN HIM DO THAT YET?!" Present Mic asked.

"He has a copy quirk in his arsenal-as long as he knows how your quirk works, he can use it himself," Aizawa-sensei said. "In fact, he's almost exclusively been using that, if I'm remembering his quirks right."

"THIS BOY HAS MULTIPLE QUIRKS!?" Present Mic exclaimed.

"Both of these boys do," Aizawa-sensei said. "Todoroki has two-ice and fire. Midoriya, on the other hand…I know that it's not only the copy quirk, but I can't remember what is and what isn't."

"WELL, HASN'T MIDORIYA JUST BECOME THAT MUCH MORE INTERESTING!" Present Mic exclaimed.

Shoto glared at Izuku as he danced out of the way again, being extra enough to do a ballerina twirl-this was gonna become ice skating before too long, might as well go with it.

"He's right…you've been using Yui's quirk for most of the tournament, only really hers and Odin's," Shoto said. "You aren't using your full arsenal."

"Occupy is out, Emory's I've been using on and off, and I tossed some weapons to my teammates earlier, plus Darlina's, and I've been using Brazen's clouds," Izuku said. "Otherwise? I'm using what I have that can adapt to the situation-adaptability is the key to winning any situation." Izuku took a deep breath, then reached down and dug up everything he knew on Shoto's quirk, sending an ice wave back, causing Shoto to move out of the way-finally moving, huh?!

"WOAH, HAS THIS BECOME A BATTLE OF ICE?!" Present Mic said.

"Ha," Izuku said. "No, I'm copying your entire quirk." His left side lit on fire.

"HOLY-" Present Mic said, but Izuku tuned him out.

"You, Dad, and Kacchan are the only fire users we have ever studied the quirks of," Izuku said, sending a wave of fire. "Darnell is afraid of fire, and as you've noticed, my family's never really been a fan of Endeavor to begin with-I know so little about his quirk that it's almost a disappointment to my entire hobby. Do you know what that means?"

"Shut up!" Shoto said, sending another wave of ice, but Izuku simply sent another wave of fire, melting the ice, but he quickly switched to using Shoto's ice to direct the water to the side and away from the fight.

"That means that I can't copy his quirk," Izuku said. "That means that the fire I'm using isn't his, which means that you can use it, too."

"I refuse to use his fire!" Shoto said, sending forth another wave of ice, but this time, Izuku used Odin's super strength to smash through it as he ran towards Shoto, punching at him and forcing him back.

"It's not his fire!" Izuku yelled. "It's yours! Your quirk, not his! Get that through your thick skull already!" He sent him flying back, just barely in bounds-

And Shoto burst into flames-

"OH MY GOD-" Present Mic exclaimed, but Izuku simply smirked as all of the ice disappeared in an instant-

Darnell was screaming and crying, terrified as Duke quickly picked him up and fled into the Imagination to get him away from everything-

Izuku smirked as he pulled up Odin's strength, her wings popping out of his back, Hirah's right behind them, her horns, there, too, scales from Darnell appeared, clouds also appearing, and he smiled at Shoto, who grinned back.

"It's not like I'm gonna stand a chance anyway, huh?" Shoto said. "Might as well give the best fight I've got!" He sent waves of fire and ice forward, while Izuku poured everything he could into the blast as well-

"THEY'RE GONNA DESTROY THE STADIUM-!" Present Mic screamed-was that even over the speakers or his quirk-but Izuku barely even heard anything as he and Shoto dashed forward, colliding in the middle-

-Midnight's quirk as well as Cementoss's moved through to stop them from colliding-

"Thank you," Shoto said just before they collided-

There was smoke everywhere, and Izuku's ears were ringing as he let the quirks drop-was the match still going?

"CAN YOU GET A READING OF WHAT'S DOWN THERE?!" Present Mic asked.

"Not-ah, there!" Midnight said as the smoke began to clear-

Izuku was still in the arena. Shoto was not.

"MIDORIYA WINS-NOW, WE NEED A BRIEF INTERMISSION TO CLEAN UP THE ARENA TO PREPARE FOR THE NEXT ROUND!" Present Mic said. Izuku slowly stood up, then grunted and fell back down-what…?

We're injured, Odin said softly.

oh, Izuku said as Midnight walked down to him.

"Can you stand?" Midnight asked worriedly.

"Uh…give me a second," Izuku muttered, taking a deep breath and singing quietly.

"Flower, gleam and glow,

Let your power shine,

Make the clock reverse,

Bring back what once was mine.

Heal what has been hurt,

Change the fate's design

Save what has been lost,

Bring back what once was mine.

What once was mine."

Izuku felt himself heal, then he stood up and dusted himself off before smiling at MIdnight.

"All better!" He said with a smile before turning and walking over to Shoto, who was just standing up himself. Izuku held out his hand, and Shoto took it and sort of leaned on him as they began to leave.

"EVEN AFTER THAT, THE TWO STILL WALK OFF TOGETHER!" Present Mic said.

"Here, I'll heal your injuries right quick," Izuku said once they were far enough in the tunnel, carefully helping Shoto sit down.

"You've used your quirk enough times today-I can just go to Recovery Girl," Shoto said.

"I insist," Izuku pouted.

The two had a quick staring contest before Shoto finally sighed. "Fine, I guess."

Izuku beamed, then sang the song again, healing up Shoto.

"Thanks," Shoto said.

Izuku simply smiled. "That was really fun!"

"Yeah, but now I need to get my fire under control," Shoto sighed.

"We can learn together!" Izuku said.

"You really don't look much into fire quirks, huh?" Shoto asked.

"Darnell's hiding in the Imagination right now because he's scared of fire," Izuku said.

Shoto flinched. "S-"

"Don't even finish that," Izuku said. "We've all agreed that we want you to use your quirk-all of your quirk." He smiled. "It really is so beautiful."

Shoto smiled-

"Shoto."

Both boys turned to see Endeavor marching their way, barely even glancing at Izuku-and didn't Endeavor look pissed.

Yui appeared, along with Odin, standing between the two boys and the flame hero.

Endeavor paused, looking at the two, before looking at Odin. "Who are you?"

"Your worst f*cking nightmare-or I will be if you don't turn around and walk away right now," Odin hissed. "I don't think that you have the authority to be here, anyway."

"I-" Endeavor said.

"Get out of here, Enji," Yui said as both girls grew to their living appearances-

"When did they…" Shoto whispered.

"After the breakdown," Izuku whispered back. "All of them can go to their actual ages now if they want to, but they said it's weird to not grow up with me."

"Back away," Yui said as Odin flared her wings out, glaring at him and hiding the two boys from view even more-

"Hey, I was-what's going on here?"

They all paused and turned to see Midnight walking over, but she paused a few meters away.

"I was just-" Endeavor started.

"You aren't allowed down this far," Midnight said. "It doesn't matter if you have a child in the Sports Festival-this is a restricted area."

"Go away," Shoto hissed, standing up and glaring at Endeavor.

"But-" Endeavor started.

"You go away, or I will start listing off all those crimes you think nobody knows about," Yui said.

"There's more than enough to get you arrested and your license stripped and you know it," Odin added with a smile. "And I happen to be pretty close to a detective that can tell if someone's lying or not-you really want to start this conversation?"

Endeavor paled, then turned and stormed away.

"Um…I know that I should be asking about that," Midnight said.

Yui looked at her. "I can compile a list."

"...I'll help with that list," Shoto said.

"Me, too," Izuku added.

"How many projects are we going to put on our plate?" Odin sighed. "I can haunt him for a little bit if you want and blackmail a certain someone into giving me all the information he has on that idiot."

"Mom, stop threatening to blackmail people," Izuku sighed.

"...I have a feeling that I'm going to regret this, but get those lists into me as soon as you can write them," Midnight said.

"Sweet!" Izuku said. "Now, I know that break's still going to be for a little bit, so wanna go get some popcorn before Iida's match-I'll get some for Uraraka and Toshi, too, this is gonna be funny!"

"No," Shoto said, and Izuku pouted as they walked away from Midnight. "I'm paying with my sperm donor's credit card."

"I like that idea!" Izuku said happily.

"...I'm seriously missing something," Midnight said as the two boys continued to walk away.

.

Iida won against Shiozaki, trying to finish the fight as fast as he could.

Next was Aoyama against Monoma. Monoma copied Aoyama's quirk and won, but had to be brought to Recovery Girl right after because the quirk had hurt him.

Kirishima versus Kacchan had taken a while, but overall, Kacchan had managed to outdo Kirishima, so it moved onto the semi-finals, but with a quick break between-

"Hey."

Izuku startled and turned to see Monoma with his arms, glaring at him.

"Oh, hello-Monoma, right?" Izuku asked.

"Yes," Monoma said. "And you are Midoriya, and you also have a copy quirk."

"Yep!" Izuku said. "I can copy any quirk as long as I know how it works-"

"Must think you're so great for that," Monoma said.

"Hmm?" Izuku asked, tilting his head to the side.

"You're using quirk after quirk after quirk," Monoma said. "Nobody can guess what you'll do next. I can copy anyone's quirk as long as I've touched them and have a time limit-"

"Wait, wait, as long as you've touched them-you don't have to understand every single bit of the mechanics of their quirk!?" Izuku exclaimed, stars in his eyes.

"Uh…yeah?" Monoma said. "Nothing compared to-"

"That's so cool!" Izuku said, jumping up and down from excitement. "Man, I don't know if I can copy a copy quirk, but that's so cool! I have to understand exactly how someone's quirk works, but you said that you have a time limit after you've touched them-does it work through DNA? During the cavalry battle, you used Kacchan's quirk when he grabbed your wrist, so probably through some kind of physical contact-not even from five-finger touch, that's really amazing! Would it work if you had, say, someone's dead skin cells or a strand of their hair? Can you use multiple quirks at once? Wait, to back up, would that work to go past the time limit, or would it only go from the first second it touches your skin? If you took a long strand of hair and wove it with others to touch your skin, would you be able to use that quirk for an extended period of time? You would be really good with publicity, just giving a kid a high-five and showing them their quirk-or if you did quirk counseling on the side! I didn't know anything about my quirk for years, but you could identify someone's quirk so easily-that would be really good for interacting with crowds-not that you have to be a limelight hero, there's also underground heroics, which would be so amazing for you, too! Sneak up behind a villain, touch them, and use their quirk against them! It would catch them so off guard that you'd instantly have the advantage of the situation! That's. So. Cool!"
Monoma chuckled, sounding fearful as he slowly backed away while Izuku spoke. "What the f*ck…"

"Do you have to have some kind of understanding of the quirk, or does it pop into your head?" Izuku asked as Monoma kept backing away. "If you copy a quirk multiple times and become more and more familiar with it, does your quirk adapt to let you use it for longer? After the Sports Festival, mind if we experiment with it!?"

"Uh…I…gotta go prepare," Monoma said, then turned and sprinted away.

.

"Hey, Monoma, bro, good luck with your-" Tetsutetsu said as he saw his classmate sprint down the hall.

"CLASS 1A IS SCARY, DON'T BE FOOLED BY THEIR KIND APPEARANCES AND VOICES!" Monoma yelled as he continued to sprint.

"...what the heck?" Tetsutetsu muttered, then continued to walk-he was on his way to go talk to Kirishima, the guy seemed pretty nice.

..

"NOW WE START THE SEMI-FINALS! FIRST UP, WE HAVE, BOTH FROM CLASS 1-A, TENYA IIDA, WHO'S GOING AS FAST AS HE CAN-WILL THAT BE ENOUGH THIS ROUND? AND ON THE OTHER HAND, TAKING THE COMPETITION BY STORM AND LOOKING TO PLACE FIRST IN ALL THREE ROUNDS, IZUKU MIDORIYA!"

"START!"

"I won't lose to you!" Iida said, running forward-

Izuku simply took an exaggerated step to the side, having noted that Iida wasn't the best with sudden stops and sharp turns.

Iida flew past him, barely skidding to a stop in the bounds, but Izuku was right there and simply put a hand out and pushed him, causing him to fall…right out of bounds.

"AND THERE YOU HAVE IT, FOLKS!" Present Mic said as Izuku held his hand out to Iida and helped him up.

"Thank you," Iida said as the two walked off together.

"IS THIS JUST GOING TO BE THE NORMAL AFTER MIDORIYA'S FIGHTS?!" Present Mic said.

"He's…literally only fought his classmates so far," Aizawa-sensei said.

"FAIR ENOUGH, AND THIS NEXT ROUND WILL DECIDE IF THAT CONTINUES!" Present Mic said as Izuku and Iida got off the field and Kacchan and Monoma walked onto the field. "WE HAVE CLASS 1-A'S KATSUKI BAKUGOU, A BOY WITH A TEMPER AS EXPLOSIVE AS HIS QUIRK-"

"I CAN HEAR YOU!" Kacchan yelled.

"-AND HE WILL BE FACING CLASS 1-B'S NEITO MONOMA, WHO HAS A COPY QUIRK OF HIS OWN-WILL HE USE BAKUGOU'S QUIRK TO DEFEAT HIM?!" Present Mic continued like nothing happened-huh, props to him.

"Kacchan's gonna win this one-he's not phased by explosions in his face," Izuku said.

"Really?" Iida asked.

"Of course not-Yui and I throw his explosions in his face all the time-we've brainwashed Toshi, too," Izuku said. "It's really cool to see someone else use your quirk, and it can be really helpful. Toshi learned how to deal with someone that can resist his control, and Kacchan learned how to make explosions that are more for show instead of to actually hurt someone-still can be scary, though."

"I see-" Iida said as his phone rang. "Oh! Sorry, I must take this-my phone is on silent but has a feature that allows a bypass when my parents call. See you in the booth."

"See you there!" Izuku said, then walked away fast to give him some privacy, knowing there'd be a little time for him to watch Kacchan and Monoma before he had to get ready for the final-

-aaannnddd, by the time he got to the booth, the fight was already over, and Kacchan had won.

"Aw!" Izuku pouted, and everyone jumped and turned to stare at him. "I just got here-couldn't Kacchan have carried the fight on just a little longer?"

Everyone laughed as Izuku sighed.

"Now I have to go prepare-I didn't even get to see the end of it!" Izuku said, throwing his hands up and walking away. "I came all this way for nothing! Nothing, I say!"

His classmates continued to laugh as he continued down the hall to the prep room.

.

"AND FOR THE MATCH YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR! WE HAVE REACHED THE FINAL MATCH OF THE FIRST YEAR'S SPORTS FESTIVAL! BOTH FROM CLASS 1-A, WE HAVE KATSUKI BAKUGOU, WHO HAS SET OFF A GRAND TOTAL OF 157 EXPLOSIONS TODAY-WE COUNTED!"

"And have questioned why we counted," Aizawa-sensei added with a groan.

"AND HE'S STILL READY FOR MORE!" Present Mic continued. "AND ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ARENA, WE HAVE IZUKU MIDORIYA, WHO'S PLACED FIRST IN THE FIRST AND SECOND ROUND, HIS WINNING STREAK EVEN GOING AS FAR BACK AS THE ENTRANCE EXAM-WILL HE TAKE FIRST PLACE YET AGAIN?! WE'RE ALL EXCITED TO FIND OUT!"

"Oi, Deku, that winning streak stops now," Kacchan said, getting into position to fight, and Izuku did as well, but Kacchan was forgetting something.

"START!"

Kacchan dove at Izuku, gonna be the first to land a hit-

Izuku dodged to the right and grabbed his arm, flipping his friend onto his back hard, causing Kacchan to make a noise as Izuku smiled.

"You've started with a right hook since we were kids, Kacchan-even in situations like this, it's just habit at this point-been trying to break it for years, but you've been fighting all day-exhaustion is starting to kick in!" Izuku said as Kacchan swung his other arm towards Izuku's legs, but Izuku didn't even budge at the explosion that went off by his legs, even as Kacchan tore his other arm away and got up with an uppercut directed towards Izuku's stomach, but Izuku paid attention and saw that one coming and moved to the side, but he let Kacchan get up and get ready to fight again, this time charging in with a headbutt.

"Ah, you've changed your strategy!" Izuku said happily as he crossed his arms behind his back and dodged to the side. "That's a new one, but headbutts tend to be more obvious, especially when you run in with one! Tsk, tsk, Kacchan, thought you'd've learned not to do that by now!"

Kacchan roared at him and this time turned and did a round-house kick that actually connected with Izuku's side, but Izuku quickly grabbed Kacchan's leg and pulled, causing Kacchan to go off-balance, but Kacchan quickly recovered, releasing an explosion right by Izuku's face. Izuku flinched, but ducked and grabbed his wrist without letting go of his leg, and he grinned as his wings burst from his back.

"And up we go!" Izuku said, flying upward with Kacchan, who screamed, but Izuku didn't go all that high before letting go of Kacchan's hand, holding him up by his leg.

Kacchan screamed, but Izuku just wanted to scare him, not actually hurt him, so he quickly dove back down, tossing Kacchan out of bounds-

Kacchan redirected himself mid-air and landed back in the arena and charged at Izuku again.

Endurance battle? Yuki asked.

Endurance battle-we still have plenty of energy, Kacchan's getting slower, even if he doesn't realize it, even if the audience doesn't realize it, Yumio said. We still realize it.

Izuku smiled as he simply began to dodge Kacchan's explosions, occasionally adding a few punches in here and there.

"Not gonna fight me, Deku!?" Kacchan yelled.

"I am," Izuku said. "This is an endurance battle, Kacchan!"

Kacchan's eyes widened in realization, knowing that it was going to run down to shoving Izuku out of bounds before his own stamina ran out-Izuku wasn't going to run out of stamina, Endless Energy may not actually be endless, but there probably wasn't anyone in 1-A-or even the school, honestly-that could wear him out solo.

"I won't let it be!" Kacchan said, reaching forward, and this time, he grabbed Izuku's arm and swung him around to get momentum to throw him out of bounds-

He got Izuku's feet off the ground for a grand total of one second before Izuku got his wings out and flew up, spinning Kacchan around a few times to disorientate him before chucking him-

-Kacchan actually fell, rolled, and skidded out of bounds this time.

"HE REALLY WON ALL THREE EVENTS-GIVE IT UP FOR TODAY'S WINNER, IZUKU MIDORIYA!" Present Mic yelled, and everyone began to cheer as Izuku walked over to Kacchan and helped him up. "AND HE'S STILL CONTINUING SUCH SPORTSMANSHIP!"

"Tch, I'll beat you next year, nerd," Kacchan said.

Izuku smiled. "Good luck, Kacchan-we'll be rooting for you."

"Was that sarcasm?!" Kacchan yelled as Izuku simply laughed, and they walked off stage.

..

Izuku smiled as he looked at the medal he got-he was going to hang it up on his wall when he got home, Dad would be so proud-he'd already gotten plenty of texts from Dad that he was and was so excited, did the Sides all want to eat together tonight because this felt celebration-worthy, he'd go get the groceries for all their favorite foods-

"Uh…Izuku?"

Izuku turned and smiled at Shoto. "What's up?"

"Um…mind if I stay at your place tonight?" Shoto asked. "I…after today…"

"Sure!" Izuku said, taking out his phone and quickly texting his Dad to ask. "Let's see what Dad says-he says sure, but be warned, the Sides are all eating with us tonight, too, and Dad's making everyone's favorites-I'll see if he'd mind making cold soba, too-actually, we'll probably help him cook, this sounds really…fun. Oh, he answered back already, he's getting stuff for soba, too, and we can pull out the spare futon-you can come over!"

"Thanks," Shoto said with a smile.

.

"That's the one, Sensei!" Shigaraki growled, pointing at the t.v. "He's the one that broke my quirk!"

"He didn't break it, Tomura, simply set it off balance temporarily-you already have it back, remember?" a voice from the screen said. "But all the pieces are falling into place-he looks…I think he would be a nice addition to our cause if we could figure out how to…

Suddenly, someone walked in-

..

"It's your brother!"

Iida tensed up as his mother told him the news-that his older brother…his legs…he was paralyzed…

Stain.
