I AM HERE! COMING OUT OF THE CLOSET-oh, wait, I did that years ago…might as well do that again-BI PRIDE MY PEEPS!
(Yes, a point if you understand what scene I'm talking about :)
I'm really sorry for this taking so long, but I was pretty much coming up on the fighting part of final exams, and they're definitely my weak point, so I thought, "I'll just do that later!" Over…and over…and over again, and now it's been…I don't even want to calculate how long that is. Then, when I finally felt ready, a bunch of stuff started going down in my life-
But you aren't here to hear about all that.
So! Final exams! With the Sides stuck in Izuku's head. Here. We. GO!
Izuku took a deep breath as he walked into the school-
"Ah, Midoriya, mind if I ask you a few questions?"
Izuku jumped and looked down to see Nezu.
"Oh, sure, what's up?" Izuku asked.
"Come along-to my office," Nezu said.
Does he know about a trapping quirk? Please tell me he does-we really need a pick-me-up right now.
I hope so. Please tell me that that's the case.
It didn't take long for Izuku and Nezu to reach the principal's office, where-
"Oh, Aizawa-sensei, what are you doing here?" Izuku asked, giving his teacher an odd look.
"Both of us were going to ask you about that Year-Checkpoint you had this weekend and make sure that you are mentally alright," Nezu explained.
"...oh," Izuku said, rubbing the back of his neck. "Well…it's…complicated."
"Are you going to be alright to do your final exams?" Aizawa-sensei asked.
"I have a planned backup in case you are unable," Nezu said.
"Um…I think I should be fine?" Izuku said. "My quirk is just a little weaker, but I can still fight, and I'm…" Wait, I'm not physically fine-I healed, though, does that count? Subconsciously, Izuku reached up and touched his arms-he was wearing bandages-
"Wait, what happened-do you need to see Recovery Girl?" Aizawa-sensei asked.
"No, no, it healed, just…looks weird," Izuku said. "Don't worry about it."
We'll be fine to take the exams, right?
Yes, without a doubt.
"I'm good to take the exams," Izuku said. "I can still fight as I am, but my Sides won't be fighting with me…I think."
"Is something wrong?" Nezu asked.
"My quirk's just being weird after the Checkpoint-something…happened-nothing too bad, but I'll be fine," Izuku said.
Nezu and Aizawa-sensei exchanged a look, then looked back at Izuku.
"I'll check back in with you after the written exams," Aizawa-sensei said. "Seriously, Midoriya, there's no shame if you need an alternative."
"I'll be fine…but thanks," Izuku said. "Well, I'm gonna head to the classroom to get ready for testing…"
"Right, right-good luck!" Nezu said.
Izuku nodded, then left and hurried to the classroom, where a few of the other students were already waiting to start.
Momo looked at Izuku as he entered, then walked over as he sat down. "Are you feeling better?"
Izuku sighed, then shrugged. "I'm fine to take exams, but it's…complicated."
"If you need anything, let me know," Momo said.
Izuku gave her a weak smile. "Thanks, Momo."
Momo smiled back as Shoto walked into the room, then instantly walked over to Izuku, clearly about to ask a question that Izuku didn't have to be a mind reader-we should really learn Mandalay's quirk!-to know what it was.
"I'll be fine to take the exams," Izuku said as Shoto stopped by them.
"X to doubt," Shoto deadpanned.
Momo choked down a laugh while Izuku just sighed and stared at him.
"I'm fine," Izuku said.
"We both know that's not true," Shoto said.
Izuku sighed again. "I know that you're concerned-which is nice and all-but seriously, I'm good to take the exams." After a few seconds, he added, "I promise."
"And you'll say something if that changes?" Shoto asked.
"Yes," Izuku said.
"Good," Shoto said as Kacchan stomped into the classroom, stopped, stared at Izuku, then scowled, walking over.
"Before you say anything, I am fine," Izuku said.
"Like hell you are," Kacchan said.
"I'm fine to take the exams, better?" Izuku asked.
"I doubt that," Kacchan said. "I bet-"
"Kacchan," Izuku said, staring him in the eye.
The two stared each other in the eye for a few seconds before Kacchan "tsk"ed and looked away.
"Fine," Kacchan said. "But don't blame me if you get hurt or something bad happens."
"The physical portion of the exam isn't until tomorrow, and I'm doing a check-in after school to make sure that I really am fine to take the physical," Izuku said.
"Uh…" Kaminari said, and the group looked at him…then at everyone who was staring at them.
"Uh…forget about all that-is everyone ready for exams?' Izuku asked.
"Studying over the weekend and last week really helped!" Kaminari said happily.
"Yeah, I feel prepared for anything!" Mina said.
"Be glad this isn't Assassination Classroom," Izuku muttered (two points if you get the reference).
"Huh?" Mina asked.
"Nothing," Izuku said.
"So, we've got the written exams, then robots for the physical!" Mina said.
…when was that stated? Izuku wondered.
"Huh?" Toshi asked, eyes wide.
"Oh, right, you guys weren't there-apparently…Kendo, I think, from B?" Mina said. "She said that there were going to be robots in the finals-she heard from an upperclassman that that's what the physical exam is."
Oh, yeah, we've had that for years! Brazen said. But it's Aizawa, and it's this class.
…I'll let them think that, Izuku said.
"...I barely won last time, and that was thanks to rescue points," Toshi mumbled, and Izuku looked at him. "I'm gonna fail if it's robots."
"You've got this," Izuku said.
"Easy for you to say-even with a handicap, you're still probably going to place first," Toshi sighed.
"Handicap?!" everyone exclaimed.
"Don't worry about it," Izuku said. "My quirk is just glitching for the next few days…hopefully."
"It better not last as long as last time," Kacchan said.
"Last time wasn't my fault," Izuku said. "Besides, I'm not that weakened from this-I'll bounce back in a few days, and it'll be like this didn't happen."
"...seriously, what happened?" Tokoyami asked.
"Don't worry about it," Izuku said, then tensed up as Aizawa-sensei walked into the room-
Everyone practically teleported to their seats and watched as he looked over all of them.
"Good, you're learning," Aizawa-sensei said, then began to pass around the tests.
…..
"Midoriya."
Izuku sighed, but walked up to Aizawa-sensei's desk as the rest of his classmates eagerly left the class, done with the written exams (does it take a day? IDK, but for plot and my inability to want to think this through, sure! Otherwise, imagine the details change slightly and it's been a few days).
"Well…" Aizawa-sensei started.
"I'll be fine," Izuku said.
"Can your Sides come out?" Aizawa-sensei asked.
Well? Izuku asked.
…no, not yet, Yumio said.
"No," Izuku said.
"What happened?" Aizawa-sensei asked. "You said that your quirk is acting weird after this checkpoint, but you didn't say why." He gestured at his arms. "Not to mention, bandages?"
"Well-" Izuku started.
"Actually, I think we should go to Recovery Girl about that," Aizawa-sensei said, getting up. "I don't know why you have bandages on, but you've had them on all day-they should be changed, and I want to see what's wrong."
"...ok," Izuku said, and followed Aizawa-sensei to Recovery Girl's office, who didn't even look up, but she noticed that someone was there…
"It's the first day of exams-nothing strenuous until tomorrow, so I wouldn't understand how someone managed to get hurt-oh, Aizawa, Midoriya?" Recovery Girl said as she turned around in her chair. "Please tell me that you didn't get hurt just taking a normal exam."
"No, but…" Izuku trailed off, then held up his bandaged arms.
Recovery Girl sighed, then gestured at one of the chairs. "Sit, sit, I'll get new bandages."
"Thanks," Izuku said quietly as he sat down, and Aizawa-sensei sat down next to him.
"So, what happened?" Recovery Girl asked.
"My…my quirk glitched," Izuku said.
"Glitched?" Aizawa-sensei asked, and Izuku nodded.
"That's what we decided to call it right before exams started," Izuku said. "Um…something went wrong during the Year Checkpoint."
"And that leads to bandages how?" Recovery Girl asked as she got into the chair next to Izuku and started to unwrap the bandages.
"Well…I…I don't want to talk about exactly what, but…it was Yui's Checkpoint, and…she'd forgotten some of the details around how she…died, just that it was a car accident, and…something wasn't adding up with all the bruises and cuts appearing over her…" Izuku trailed off and took a deep breath.
"Please tell me it wasn't abuse," Aizawa-sensei said.
"...uh…I…I'd be lying if I said that?" Izuku said.
Aizawa-sensei groaned as Recovery Girl looked surprised for a small second, then she looked…sad.
"Her parents killed her, I guess?" Recovery Girl asked gently.
"No…she…she was depressed," Izuku said, tears in his eyes as he started shaking. "W-We didn't know-she made herself forget-s-so we went to M-Memory Lane, a-and w-when she found out, she…she panicked, and I got kicked out of the Mind Palace, a-and…"
Recovery Girl unbandaged the scar just at that moment, light blue, and she gasped, and Aizawa-sensei did as well as a few tears fell onto Izuku's arm.
"I-It hurt, I-I…i-it w-wasn't her f-fault, s-she was in so much p-pain," Izuku sobbed gently. "I-I couldn't g-go back i-in, a-and I f-felt it, a-and-"
"Hey, hey, you're alright," Aizawa-sensei said as Recovery Girl quickly finished unwrapping his arms. "You're alright-that really doesn't look good-"
"Does it still hurt?" Recovery Girl asked.
Izuku shook his head. "B-But my S-Sides c-can't leave t-the Mind Palace…"
"...I don't think you should take the exam tomorrow," Nezu said, and Izuku jumped as Recovery Girl and Aizawa-sensei looked to see the principal walk into the nurse's office. "Even if it doesn't hurt at the moment, you have actual scars and went through the pain."
"I'm still strong enough to go through the exam tomorrow," Izuku said. "It's just a little setback with my quirk, but I'll be fine in a little while."
"And how long is that?" Nezu asked.
Izuku shrugged. "I don't really know. My…my Lifeforce is normal, so it's not that kind of problem. I probably just need to reorientate myself-I don't…I don't really know, but it should be soon. I can take the exam tomorrow as I am-honestly, that's probably for the best since it's probably a teamwork kind of thing with other classmates since we've been doing plenty of focus on teamwork this semester, so it makes sense to do exams focusing on small-scale or even larger-scale teamwork-"
"Alright, I understand your thought process and everything, but we cannot explain that to you, you know," Nezu said.
"Right, of course," Izuku said.
"Personally, I am against you taking the exam tomorrow," Aizawa said.
"Hmm…it's not the best idea, but can you still use your quirks?" Recovery Girl asked.
"Yes, I can," Izuku said, making Odin's wings appear on his back as proof.
"...then perhaps you would be able to, and we can grade you slightly differently due to your current setback," Nezu said.
"I'll be fine-I can work without all my Sides by my side-they're all still able to talk to me and everything, so I'll be fine," Izuku said.
"Very well," Nezu said slowly. "I would like you to check in with Recovery Girl one more time when you arrive in the morning to make sure nothing else happens overnight, but otherwise, you'll be fine to take the exam."
"Principal Nezu-" Aizawa started
"We will talk about this when Izuku here is on his way home," Nezu said with a huge smile.
"...ok, then,' Aizawa said.
"Well, then, I'll get on my way…" Izuku said, getting up.
"Do you want me to rewrap your arms first?" Recovery Girl asked.
"I…yes, please," Izuku said, holding his arms out a little. "I…I don't want anyone to see my-"
"Hey, Recovery Girl, sorry to bother you-" Mirio said as he walked in, then he froze. "Uh…"
Izuku instantly turned his wrists down and smiled at Mirio. "Hey, Mirio."
"Hey, Izuku-uh…are you alright?" Mirio asked, looking at the others in the room.
"Yep!" Izuku said.
"Did you need something, dearie?" Recovery Girl asked.
"Oh, uh…Tamaki, Nejire, and I were doing some training, and I accidentally hit Tamaki really hard on the head, and…he might have a concussion?" Mirio said sheepishly, scratching the back of his neck. "Nejire is still with him, but we didn't want to move him just in case…"
Recovery Girl sighed. "I'll head over in just a second." She looked at Izuku, then at Aizawa. "Shouta, you know how to wrap bandages well enough."
"Wait, bandages?" Mirio asked. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine," Izuku sighed.
"...we'll see tomorrow," Aizawa said, getting up and grabbing a roll of bandages as Recovery Girl shooed Mirio out of the door to lead her to Tamaki.
…
We still can't leave the Mind Palace…
I can still use your quirks, though-I'll be perfectly fine!
I'm really-
No apologizing, it wasn't your fault. We're gonna be able to exit real soon here, and everything's gonna be fine!
But the scars-
I don't care if I have scars, Mama, I'm just glad that you're alright.
But-
No buts, no coconuts, Mama! (two points if you get the reference)
That's not the full phrase-
And?
"I'm physically fine, and I would like to take the exam with everyone else."
"If you're certain-"
"I am."
"...alright, then. Head to class, and you'll get further instructions soon."
Izuku nodded, then stood up and walked out of the office and to class, where everyone already there (just a few people hadn't arrived yet) was muttering quietly, wondering about the exam.
"Hey, Izuku, you ready?" Kirishima asked, looking at Izuku as he entered the room.
"Ready as I'll ever be," Izuku said, singing slightly (two points if you get the reference).
"So manly!" Kirishima said. "I'm so pumped up!"
Izuku smiled as he sat at his desk-
"Will your Sides be factored into the exam?" Iida asked, and Izuku tensed up slightly at that as he started to feel anxious-
The anxiety immediately got smaller.
It's gonna be alright-we're still here, and you're still strong in your own right.
"I don't really know yet-it's gonna be a little challenging, I'm sure, but otherwise, we'll see what happens," Izuku said.
"I had assumed that you had stayed after to talk to Aizawa-sensei yesterday to talk about the situation with that," Iida said. "As well as the comment made about a…handicap? Is something wrong?"
"Iida?" Toshi asked.
"Yes-" Iida started.
"Shut up and sit at your desk quietly."
Iida did as told-
"Alright, everyone, change into your hero costumes and meet at the training field out back. You have ten minutes."
Immediately, everyone stood up-Toshi was quick to gently shove Iida's shoulder and get him into action-and the group quickly-and, at Iida's insistence-orderly grab their costumes and make their way to the changing rooms-
"Midoriya."
Izuku stopped and blinked at Aizawa-sensei. "I was cleared for the exam-"
"Cleared?!"
"I'm aware, but still," Aizawa-sensei said. "Still not sure you should be."
"I can still use my quirk," Izuku said. "It's just a little weaker-villains won't go easy on me if I need them to."
"...fair enough," Aizawa-sensei said. "Nine minutes forty-five seconds."
"Right," Izuku said, then quickly followed the rest of his classmates.
….
Here are the pairings for the exam! Mostly the same, just a few swaps + Toshi, but just a reminder! (Plus why I made the swaps)
Kirishima and Sato vs Cementoss
Tsuyu and Tokoyami vs Ectoplasm
Iida and Ojiro vs Power Loader
Momo and Kaminari vs Eraserhead (I didn't want to put Kaminari and Bakugou against All Might with that switch, and I feel like Eraser would be best to make sure Kaminari doesn't short-circuit himself, which has been an ongoing problem, so…)
Uraraka and Aoyama vs Thirteen
Ashido and Izuku vs Nezu (I thought that this would be funny, TBH, and while Izuku would have gone against All Might with Bakugou had his quirk not glitched, instead, Nezu here decided that he would rather go against Izuku to try to challenge his increased intelligence due to Yumio and see if he could still operate with his quirk like this. It also gives Nezu the chance to make sure that Izuku depends more on his brains here while his quirk is not exactly in top shape. Ashido's still against Nezu for the same reason as canon, but this gives her a better chance of passing…no offense meant, but there was no way she and Kaminari could've won against Nezu, that was just a cruel and unfair fight for their first year.)
Koda and Jirou vs Present Mic
Shoji and Hagakure vs Snipe
Sero and Shinsou vs Midnight (I don't remember why Sero was against Midnight, but Toshi does have to be within a certain speaking range to get Midnight to answer him, which isn't easy because of the sleeping gas, so his challenge with Sero is to work around the mist and figure out the best solution.
Bakugou and Todoroki vs All Might (Exactly why you think.)
….
'Alright, so what's the plan? Your Sides distract Nezu while we run?"
Izuku sighed, glad that it was just the two of them on the bus. "Actually, just you and me, unfortunately-don't tell the rest of the class, but my quirk is…weird right now."
"Weird?" Mina asked, concerned.
"It's…it's complicated, but the Sides can't leave my mind right now," Izuku said. "They should be able to soon, but for the exam?" He shook his head.
"...on a scale of one to ten, how screwed are we?" Mina asked.
"We still stand a chance-I can still talk to them, and I can still use all their quirks…Nezu will be a challenge, but I think that our best bet is to try to run…he's got many years of experience on us, no defined or known age, but at best, we'll have to adapt to the environment and see what our chance to escape will be." He thought for a few seconds, then looked at Mina. "Your acid is strong enough to break down a wall, right?"
"Yep, but not really fast," Mina said. "Two minutes with the strongest acid I can make."
"Alright," Izuku said. "We can work with that easily." With that, he took out the map of the city that they'd be in. "We don't know exactly where Nezu will be, but as you said, we'll want to run. We'll just have to figure out how to keep him away from us…it won't be easy at all, but I think that we can pass."
"...if you're sure-but I'm sure that the smartest person in class will know what to do!" Mina said.
"Thanks," Izuku said. "Now, let's see what we can come up with…"
….
"We can take All Might head-on."
Shoto sighed. "Bakugou, he's still the Number One hero."
"If we hit him in the side hard enough, which is a known weak point I overheard from Mom, we can get him to fall," Bakugou said smugly. "He told Mindfreak that he couldn't be a hero, so you bet your a** I'm gunning for him."
Shoto paused for a few seconds. "Not to mention that Izuku, Odin, and the Sides hate him…and they're all upset right now."
'Yeah, so hearing about the two of us beating the sh*t out of him would help at least," Bakugou said.
"Then we need a strategy," Shoto said. "He didn't get to the Number One spot easily, so we need to just figure out how to make it hurt the most."
…..did I write that simply because I'm in the middle of a really bad anxiety episode and needed something to cheer me up? You have no proof-
"So…I'm a longer distance fighter, you're definitely shorter distance, which…with Midnight…"
"Don't worry about that," Hitoshi said, gently fiddling with his…his very own capture scarf. He'd managed to convince Aizawa-sensei to let him learn how to use one to help him gain even a slight advantage (apparently Brazen had something to do with convincing him-) "My quirk does work best in smaller quarters, and she already knows what it is and about my voice changer, so I'm at a disadvantage, but I can hold my own."
"...alright," Sero said as the bus rolled to a stop. "Wait, we didn't do much planning…we're screwed."
"Not yet we aren't," Hitoshi said, getting up. "I already have some kind of plan-it isn't perfect, but it's something to go off."
….this was going to be the most anticlimactic thing ever, let me tell you. Izuku was simply going to fly Mina over the finish line and call it good, but I decided no, that would be too boring and went back and just took that out. UGH-
"It's a big city…" Mina said, looking around the area they had been directed towards.
"Yep-perfect for Nezu, he can be literally anywhere, not to mention cameras and monitoring us," Izuku said.
…I literally feel like a lab rat in a maze here-tables have turned, huh?
Actually, that might be exactly what to expect out of this, which may help us out with this strategy…
"Our best bet is the exit-Nezu's the smartest being on the planet-but he's likely expecting us to go for the exit…and with the fact that we should assume that we're always being watched…" Izuku trailed off as an idea started to form in his head-oh, he likes that. He turned to Mina. "Do you trust me?"
"Yep!" Mina said.
"Good, because I'm going to be telling you my plan as we go and while we're executing it to avoid Nezu knowing all that we're doing," Izuku said, making sure to whisper the last part.
Mina gave him a thumbs up. "Gotcha."
"For now-there's the buzzer-we start walking towards the exit," Izuku said, carefully grabbing Mina's hand and starting to guide her towards the exit.
Any idea what quirks are going to help us that we can use? Izuku asked.
Hmm…danger sense? It would be painful, though, not sure if that's good for an exam. It would also be continuously on for surveillance.
Let's test it out.
Danger Sense, as used by Hikage Shinomori, acts like a sixth sense to detect intent and negative emotions, such as threat and malice. However, as a side effect, it causes a sharp, stabbing sensation.
Wait, will Nezu even count as-
Immediately, there was a sharp stabbing pain, and Izuku whipped his head around to see a large bit of flying rubble coming at them.
Instantly, Izuku grabbed onto Mina's arms and ran out of the way, avoiding getting crushed.
"Is he trying to kill us?!" Mina squeaked out as Izuku quickly looked around-no sign of Nezu right there, but if he looked in the distance to where the rubble had come from…there was Nezu with a crane, grabbing another piece.
"Time to fly!" Izuku said, letting his wings pop out of his back as he picked Mina up and started to fly upwards, stopping at a height where they could spot Nezu better.
"Alright, so we're out of line of fire," Mina said.
"Not yet," Izuku said, seeing Nezu gear up to throw the rubble at them in the air as…as legs came off it and it started moving. "Ok, so we can stay in the air and continue to dodge as we escape, or we can try to take that thing out and keep going."
"Any way we can take it out from a distance?" Mina asked.
"Easily with your acid, or I can use Attraction to get wires-but I'd need to know where the wires are, so we'll drop as much acid on that thing as you can, concentrated at a single point to do as much damage as possible, then we escape as fast as we can," Izuku said as he flew them above the mechanism.
"If we get closer, can you dodge?" Mina asked. "From the height, he can probably see it coming and dodge."
"What if I dropped you on it so you can do your work while I distract him?" Izuku asked.
"Yeah!" Mina said as the two got closer, and the crane swung to hit them, Izuku quickly dropping Mina on top of the crane, and she quickly started to get to work while Izuku darted to the side, thinking for just a second-what will help us the most right now, how about-
Izuku got as close as he dared to Nezu, who instantly focused on him and Mina, and Izuku was quick to start using Dot's quirk as he reached forward to make Nezu tired-
Nezu clearly estimated what his plan was-or was at least smart enough to get the gist of it–as he dodged out of the way, leaving the main controls a little so he wasn't moving the crane around to try to get rid of Mina, who wasn't being thrashed about-
Izuku threw a super-powered kick at Nezu, using Odin's quirk to give him more speed and strength, the kick not quite connecting, but close enough to graze Nezu-and that was going to bruise later-and Nezu was quick to grab out capture tape-yeah, that's not happening-
Izuku made a dulled knife appear and slashed at the capture tape, cutting it and quickly grabbing both ends and yanking them away from Nezu, who took out a piece of support gear and aimed it at Izuku, who ducked out of the way and kicked at it, making a dent, but not even knocking it out of Nezu's hands or fully breaking it.
"This won't be easy, you know," Nezu said with a grin as a solid chunk of rubber shot out of the gear and hit Izuku square in the chest-
-or, at least, it would have if a large, dense cloud and shield hadn't appeared in front of him at the last second, and while Nezu was gearing up the next one, Izuku ducked forward, quickly taking the cuffs out, and Nezu was quick to back away, just off the crane and starting to retreat slightly, but Izuku quickly reached forward and grabbed one of Nezu's paws-
-to find out that he was wearing shock gear, so a jolt of electricity went through Izuku, and on instinct, he let go, letting Nezu back away slightly-
And that's the moment that Mina managed to break halfway through the crane arm-and, of course, the rest of it wasn't strong enough to keep itself upright, so it snapped, causing Nezu and Izuku to glance over-
Izuku kicked at Nezu again as Mina jumped off the remains and ran over to get to Izuku and Nezu-
Nezu dodged Izuku's kick and took out a stun gun, aiming it at him.
Izuku quickly side-glanced at Mina, who was right there, about to throw some acid at Nezu, then took a deep breath, then, using Dasu's illusion quirk, he made a large wall on the two sides of Nezu that he and Mina weren't on, trapping him.
Nezu moved to attack Izuku first, but Mina was quick to kick him against the wall, and Nezu took the hit and shifted slightly-must have some kind of shock-absorbing on his clothes to help him take the hit better, but Izuku quickly moved forward with his cuffs out, and Mina quickly took hers out as well, and while Nezu realized what they were doing, while Mina ducked down, he was quick to jump up to use her as a springboard-
-which Izuku anticipated, as he stayed standing up and lunged at Nezu, cuffs open and locking around the principal's legs quickly, and Izuku grabbed the back of Nezu's shirt to stop him from still continuing to retreat-
"Well done!" Nezu said as a voice called over the speakers, "Mina Ashido and Izuku Midoriya pass!" "You two have passed."
"YES!" Mina said as she stood up and Izuku quickly set Nezu on the ground, where he produced a key and unlocked the cuffs, smiling at the two.
"Great teamwork there-I must say, I had anticipated for the two of you to simply flee to the exit, and while I had prepared for the possibility of the two of you fighting me and underprepared on purpose, I am still pleasantly surprised to see you go this route!" Nezu said.
"Underprepared?!" Mina asked.
Izuku looked at her. "Well, the cuffs that All Might and the other teachers have weren't going to be effective against Nezu's brain, which meant that for him, the handicap was him ignoring a few openings and allowing us a few things here and there-he could be completely immobile and still probably find a way to beat us with his brains."
"That would be quite an interesting challenge, but one that I would be willing to try!" Nezu said with a smile. "Now, how about we get back to the bus and to Recovery Girl? Neither of you were injured, and I only have a few bruises here and there, but I'm sure that she would appreciate us stopping by anyway."
Can we throw it into Shota's face that we still managed to win with our handicap? He still seemed like he thought we shouldn't have taken the exam.
I mean, we still can't exit, so give the man some credit for worrying.
Yeah, yeah, but we passed! I can't wait for summer camp!
Even though we're all probably going anyway? I mean, it's a training camp, what else would they do, have those that failed do training at UA over the summer with Nezu?
…
…
…
THAT ACTUALLY SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD IDEA!
Izuku gave a small smile as the three of them walked back to the bus.
I'm going to end the chapter there. Sorry I didn't write the other fights, but fight scenes are the hardest and least enjoyable for me to write (if that ever changes, I'll leave a note and add in one of the changed exams, but that's VERY unlikely), but essentially, here's how it went:
Kirishima and Sato still fail.
Tsuyu and Tokoyami still pass
Iida and Ojiro still pass.
Momo and Kaminari pass, however, the exam goes differently, because instead of Todoroki giving Momo the encouragement she needed, Kaminari instead hypes her up from the very start for her planning, and this gives Momo the courage to step up through the exam and take charge to take Aizawa down, getting Kaminari's help to do this.
Uraraka and Aoyama still pass.
Mina and Izuku pass, as shown.
Jirou and Kouji still pass.
Hagakure and Shoji still pass.
Hitoshi passes through managing to trick Midnight into thinking she wasn't answering a question, and while Sero still got caught in the sleeping gas, he managed to keep himself awake JUST long enough to pass, then he passed out cold. (Also, while writing this, I just realized how similar Dot and Midnight's quirks are…they're both sleep based, even if Dot's never really gets shown because it's less strong than Midnight's, so doesn't really get used.
Shoto and Katsuki pass because, as shown, they both dislike All Might here after finding out stuff, so they were able to work together as a team from the start, which All Might didn't take into account. He ended up with two more black eyes, and Shoto and Katsuki aimed for his side the entire time (I can't remember if Odin ever mentioned it to the two of them, but they "accidentally" overheard it from her one time if that isn't the case :))
Since the next chapter isn't entirely fight scenes, I'll HOPEFULLY have it out sooner than this one, but then again, we all know me at this point.
