HAPPY PRIDE MONTH! I'm Bisexual myself and proud!
A FEW THINGS I WANT TO ADDRESS!
First off, this fic is now on YouTube! ( watch?v=e4a9q6ejR3Y). I'm super excited about all this!
Another thing: I've gotten a few suggestions here and there, both in reviews and from people pming me about what I could do for this fic, but I'd just like to add (since I forgot to add in the last chapter), the rest of this fanfic is fully planned out and has been for a few chapters already! There are scenes here and there that don't go as I had planned, but for the most part, I'm not done with this fanfic because I get distracted when writing really easy. That said, I've gotten a few suggestions about using the One for All ghosts as Izuku's Sides, so I'd just like to clear something about them: they're still part of the One for All quirk that Mirio possesses, and, Mirio will get access to the One for All ghosts and their quirks, but because his quirk isn't compatible with the previous Users' quirks like Izuku's (lack of a quirk) was, the quirks won't be as strong. Not to mention…well, you'll see.
BUT YOU AREN'T HERE TO LISTEN TO ME BABBLE ON, LET'S GET TO THE FIC! AFTER THE CLUSTERF*CK THAT WAS THE LAST TWO CHAPTERS, HERE'S A MORE LIGHTHEARTED CHAPTER! (Or, it was…then some characters decided *no*.)
"Dorms?" Izuku asked, looking at Aizawa-sensei, Nezu, and his Dad-Kai and Eimi were nearby, too, having been brought to the hospital by Shoto, Toshi, and Kacchan-which had also included promising to tell them Odin's full backstory once the school year had started up again.
"Yes," Nezu said. "As a school, UA has failed to keep our students safe on and off campus. Our response right now is, since we have already increased the level of security on campus, to move all of our students on campus, as we can not ensure that the villains won't be able to find your homes and take you then."
Izuku leaned a little more into his Dad's side (lol), wishing that he had at least been given a day instead of being told a few hours after coming home from the hospital. "So…so how often do we get to come home?"
"On weekends, with either supervision or an increase in hero patrols in the area to ensure your safety," Aizawa-sensei said. "Once the League has been captured, the dorms will become optional, but if you remain at UA, the dorms will be required until then."
Kurogiri got captured, so we won't have to worry about a large-scale break-in on campus, but…
I don't wanna leave Dad…
But we want to stay at UA, not to mention that Tenko has already targeted us-there's no guarantee that he won't continue to target us even if we left UA. That's…
Izuku looked at his Dad. "Can I go to the dorms, Dad?"
"Are you sure?" Hisashi asked quietly, hugging Izuku a little tighter. "There are other hero schools-"
"Not close by-I'd either have to wake up earlier or stay closer, and Yumio pointed out that Shigaraki targeted me-he might do that anyway just because he thinks I can be convinced to join." Izuku made a face. "I never will, but I don't wanna be kidnapped again."
Hisashi gave Izuku a sad look, then chuckled slightly, tears in his eyes. "The apartment's going to feel so empty without you here, you know that, right?"
"I can call every night?" Izuku said. "And visit every weekend-I can drag Shoto, Kacchan, and Toshi over, the four of us going between houses each weekend to meet up with all of you-maybe?"
"We can ask about it, but if you want to go to the dorms…just…please call every night," Hisashi said.
"I will," Izuku said.
Hisashi took a deep breath, then looked at Aizawa-sensei and Nezu. "Just…keep him safe."
"We will," Aizawa-sensei said.
"Great-when will he be moving in?" Hisashi asked.
….YOU GUYS GET TO SEE SHOTO'S NEW LAST NAME…..
Izuku looked around his dorm room and sighed, wondering what to do next.
There was a knock on his door, and Izuku opened it to see Shoto.
"Oh, hey!" Izuku said. "Done moving in?"
"Yeah," Shoto said, looking around Izuku's room. "You as well?"
"Yeah," Izuku said, looking around slightly. "It doesn't look just like my room, but it's nice enough-I'll get used to it."
"...are you ok?" Shoto asked.
Izuku took a deep breath. "I'm…getting there." He scratched the back of his neck slightly. "Dad wanted to book me for more therapist appointments, and as a result, I'm going to have Hound Dog as a therapist instead, so that's going to be a few…interesting sessions." He felt a bit of anxiety before Hinata squashed it down. He smiled slightly before looking at Shoto. "So…ready for school to start up again, Shoto Yukito?"
Shoto made a face. "I'm going to have to get used to being called that."
"I can call you that exclusively for a while if you want," Izuku said.
"No," Shoto said. "I'll make a conscious effort not to respond to you calling me by my last name."
"Bet," Izuku laughed, dodging as Shoto swatted at him with a small smile on his face.
"Well, I'm going to go see if Katsuki and Hitoshi are done yet-want to join?" Shoto said.
"Ooh, yes!" Izuku said, walking to Toshi's room-which was next door!-and knocking.
Toshi opened his door and glanced at the two. "You two done, then?"
"Yeah!" Izuku said. "You?"
"Almost, just putting up one more poster," Toshi said, then walked back in, leaving his door open for Izuku and Shoto to peek inside-
"Did you seriously make an Eraserhead themed bedroom?" Izuku immediately asked, blinking at Toshi, who flushed slightly.
"...I thought it would be subtle enough that no one would notice," Toshi muttered.
Toshi's room had a few pictures here and there, but what Izuku was talking about was the fact that most of the rest of the room was black, with bits of red, yellow, and white here and there, including a white scarf that looked exactly like Aizawa-sensei's, a red lamp, and a yellow pair of goggles.
"It's subtle, but we know you well enough by now," Shoto said.
Toshi sighed. "And what do your rooms look like?"
"Ooh, ooh, come on!" Izuku said, dragging Toshi over to his room and opening the door-
"Ooh, mind if we see, too?"
The three looked at the girls and some of the other boys.
"We're doing a dorm contest!" Mina exclaimed. "So? Can we?"
"Uh…sure," Izuku said, opening his door and letting his classmates look inside-
"That's a lot of pictures!" Mina said, gesturing to the pictures pinned on his wall (I mean, he isn't as much of an All Might fan, so he couldn't have all those All Might posters…).
"Ooh, we're in a few-when did you take those?" Uraraka asked.
"Uh…here and there-Dad didn't want me to feel lonely, so he had me print off a bunch of pictures-I don't feel lonely, though-I mean, I've got my Sides and all you guys," Izuku said.
"Aw!" Hagakure said, and Izuku looked at her. "We should get a class photo so you can have all of us on your wall!"
"And one with all your Sides, too, when they can be here," Momo said, looking around. "Where are those two new ones, by the way?"
"Oh, Mandalay and Kota wanted to talk to them-catch up a little without having to worry about my health or the villains attacking," Izuku said.
"I can't wait to meet them!" Mina said.
And we can't wait to officially meet everyone, too.
"They can't wait to meet you guys, too," Izuku said, looking at his figurines and adjusting one-none of All Might, but there were a few different ones-although his opinion of All Might had slightly improved because of how fast the paperwork had gone through so he wouldn't get in trouble for helping out in Kamino.
Not to mention…
Izuku suppressed a sigh as he thought back to the hospital…
"Young Midoriya."
Izuku looked up and sat up a little straighter as he saw All Might standing in the doorway-his Dad had stepped out with Eimi and Kai to get food, and his friends had been grounded for not responding during the whole Kamino incident, so it was just the two of them.
"Shouldn't you be resting?" Izuku asked. "I mean, you got hurt really bad."
"Recovery Girl managed to heal the worst of it-may I come in?" All Might asked.
"...sure," Izuku said, then gestured to the chair nearby. "Sit down-you're still not in the best condition."
All Might sat down, and Izuku looked at him for a few seconds. "What do you need?"
"Well…" All Might said. "I'm going to have to retire after all of this. I can't use One for All anymore-it's completely Mirio's now."
"Huh," Izuku said. "I wonder how losing the top two heroes in rapid succession is going to play out."
"Not well so far," All Might said. "People were already being more critical towards heroes due to Endeavor's trial and the rise of villains in response to that-it's not looking well with my retirement, either."
"I'd bet," Izuku said.
"But, thankfully, people have found some hope," All Might said, taking out his phone and pulling something up, handing the phone to Izuku, who carefully took it-
And paused, staring at the articles.
Featuring pictures of him and about him.
"Future Symbol of Peace?"
"He Took Down Endeavor and Was Present for All Might's Retirement: What We Know About Izuku Midoriya."
"Was All Might Intending to Pass the Torch to the First Year Sports Festival Winner?"
The articles All Might had pulled up had titles such as this.
"What's…what's this?" Izuku asked, looking at All Might.
"People are talking about what you did-oh, and before I forget, the paperwork has already been filed," All Might said. "You won't be in any trouble for using your quirk to help me…take down All for One."
"Kill," Odin said, and All Might flinched.
"You…you already know," All Might said. "Who told you?"
"We knew before we even left the scene that he wouldn't make it out, subconsciously, but we fully realized while Izuku was unconscious," Odin said. "He never fully recovered from the fight with you and was depending on his immortality quirk. When the fight started and we started getting rid of…of his quirks. He'd already had a few activated."
"We were unable to see what quirks we canceled unless he was using them, but it wasn't very hard to realize that we turned off his passive quirks immediately-one of which was his immortality quirk," Yumio said. "With the condition he was in, without his immortality quirk, we knew that it was unlikely that he would survive for long."
"...oh," All Might said, then straightened up a little bit. "I'm taking full responsibility for his death-you don't have to worry about any kind of repercussions for anything that happened in Kamino."
"Is the body getting cremated?" Odin asked.
"It already has been," All Might said.
"Good," Odin said.
All Might gave Izuku a confused look. "Wasn't he…your older brother, though? Aren't you upset about his death?"
"A little, but I'll manage," Odin said. "He's done horrible things and…" She took a deep breath, then Izuku spoke up. "It was necessary. At the end of the day…who knows what would've happened if he stayed alive. But we aren't the ones that killed him. We weren't even on the scene when he actually died."
"...right, the blast," All Might said. "I'm very sorry that you got injured as a result of my last attack."
"Darlina's quirk wasn't turning on for some reason, and we're the ones that decided to use our wings-probably should've started running or found somewhere to hide from it," Izuku said. "What's important is that we're alright, isn't it? But thank you, apology accepted."
All Might smiled-
Sir Nighteye suddenly poked his head into the room and scowled at All Might. "I thought I'd find you here-you shouldn't even be out of bed, you reckless fool."
"Ah," All Might said.
Sir Nighteye groaned, then glared at Izuku out of the corner of his eye before looking back at All Might. "Let's go, before you land yourself in an even longer hospital stay."
"Right-see you in class, Young Midoriya," All Might said, then got up and left.
Izuku was still a little confused by the entire interaction, and he still didn't forgive All Might-not fully, not for all that happened to Odin, but…he was making an effort. Maybe.
Let's not think about that right now.
(Yeah, All Might, coming out of nowhere and apologizing-that wasn't planned but *character development*-)
"Shinsou, your room next, then we can go in order!" Mina demanded.
"Fine," Shinsou said, going back to his room and opening the door.
(I'm not going to describe everyone's room, but there are two characters with very important rooms because-)
"There's no need to see my room," Tokoyami insisted, almost seeming…panicked, but like he was trying to hide it.
"Oh, come on!" Hagakure said, shoving him out of the way and opening the door.
"Wait-" Tokoyami said as his classmates began to walk into and poke around his room.
"So dark in here!" Hagakure said. "Is that why you didn't want us in here? I mean, we already knew that you were an emo-"
"Hey, I had this same keychain in middle school!" Kirishima said, looking at something on the bird boy's desk, then he paused and stared at one thing in particular.
Tokoyami was almost immediately by his desk, Dark Shadow coming out and lunging for whatever Kirishima had been looking at.
"Don't touch that!" Tokoyami said.
"Ooh, now I wanna see!" Mina said, walking over and trying to grab the object from Dark Shadow.
"Ashido, stop!" Tokoyami said as Mina managed to get a hold of the object and tug on it, making it fall out of Dark Shadow's grip…then Mina's…and fall at Izuku's feet as the class looked at it-
"Dude, why do you have something like that?!" Sero said as Izuku stared at the object-
"I didn't realize I didn't toss it out instead of one of my boxes when I was packing, and I didn't want to just toss it in the dorm garbage in case-" Tokoyami said as Izuku kneeled down and grabbed the ghost exorcism kit, as the box claimed.
Immediately, Dark Shadow was near Izuku and reaching for the box.
"I am so sorry-I had thrown out most of my exorcism items close to the beginning of the year, but I found this in one of my shelves at home, and I meant to toss it out, but instead, it still managed to find a way into one of my boxes-" Tokoyami said. "I have no intentions of using it on any of your ghosts and will be tossing it out as soon as possible-"
An exorcism kit?
THAT'S PERFECT!
"If you don't want it, mind if we keep it?!" all of the Sides asked at the same exact time, causing everyone in the room to jump and give Izuku a surprised look.
"Wait, what?" Kirishima asked, but Izuku didn't notice as he jumped up and down slightly, feeling more energized than he had in a long time, but he hadn't even noticed because it had been so long-he felt like a kid again, almost.
"Please?!" all of the Sides asked at the same time. "We'll even buy it from you if you want-one man's trash is another man's treasure-why didn't we even think about an exorcism, that sounds like a perfect solution to Dave-we don't want to wait another 95 years for Dave to fade away, we can get rid of him this easily-do exorcisms work, do you know? Surely they do, to some degree, that's going to be so helpful-and we'll never have to worry about him again, no more fear about the situation, I can't wait-"
"Wait, wait, you aren't…you aren't angry with me?" Tokoyami asked.
"Of course not!" Izuku said happily as Toshi and Shoto just let out long, slow sighs, finally getting what Izuku was talking about. "I've been looking for a solution for five years to get rid of this ghost, and we didn't even think about doing an exorcism-we can't even visit Yui's grave because of him, not that the graveyard is well kept-we can finally start doing that again! How much do you want for it?"
Everyone just gave Izuku a blank stare as he hugged the exorcism kit to his chest-a solution, a solution, why didn't we think of this? We wasted so much time on trapping quirks when there was this easy solution to our problems-
Toshi groaned loudly, and everyone immediately looked at him.
"It's a long story, but there's a ghost that Izuku's trying to get rid of-he'll probably explain later," Toshi said.
"Oh, uh…you may have the exorcism kit if you would like it," Tokoyami said. "I will not charge you for it."
"THANK YOU-I'm going to go put this in my room and see if I can get a time to go take care of this-thank you thank you thank you!" Izuku said, darting back to his room.
"He's…he's really not upset with me?" Tokoyami asked.
"Not at all-in fact, I don't think I've seen him that happy in a while-he definitely needed that after getting kidnapped and with his ghosts out of commission like they are," Toshi said. "Are you sure you don't want money for it?"
"I was meaning to toss it out anyway," Tokoyami said. "But I am very glad that I was able to assist in fighting off his sorrows, even if involuntary."
"Ok, then," Toshi said as Izuku came darting back over, a huge grin on his face and still full of energy.
"Next floor?" Izuku asked.
(That scene was planned out from the moment that I introduced Dave because I wanted to see Tokoyami and Dark Shadow freak out, thinking that Izuku would hate them, but instead, they're met with Izuku being so relieved that, as soon as Aizawa gives him permission, he can finally exorcize Dave. That is a solid 25% of the reason Dave had to show up in the first place, the rest because I wanted to have an erasure quirk without having Erasure directly.) (AND NOW WE GET TO THIS REVEAL, PLANNED FROM THE VERY FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL-) (Like, seriously, this chapter is just revealing stuff that I've been planning out for a while, I swear.)
"Wow, Toru, your room is so pink!"
"Yeah, it's one of my favorite colors," Hagakure said as some of her hair fell into her face, and she reached up and tucked it behind her ear. Izuku glanced at her hair, noting that she hadn't applied any more black hair dye in a while, since most of what was there at the start of the school year was gone.
"Wait, is that hair dye?"
Speaking of.
"Oh, uh…yeah," Hagakure said nervously as Ojiro picked up a small box of black hair dye. "I've been dying my hair since the start of the year, but…well. No one noticed."
"Oh," Ojiro said.
Izuku blinked, giving her a confused look. "Wait, really?"
"Yeah-I thought it would make my hair stand out more if I dyed it, but…well, it didn't work," Hagakure said.
"Why would black hair stand out more than greenish-yellow hair?" Izuku asked.
Chartreuse, specifically.
"Chartreuse color, specifically, but Yumio's being really specific there," Izuku added.
"...what are you talking about?" Mina asked.
"Hagakure's hair color," Izuku said, confused. "Black hair doesn't stand out as much as her natural hair." Wait, was I not supposed to say anything? "It, uh…looks nice either way?"
"Uh, dude?" Kirishima said.
"You can…you can see me?" Hagakure said.
Izuku gave her a confused look. "Why wouldn't I be able to?"
"Because of my quirk?" Hagakure said.
"Wait, Hagakure, is your hair actually greenish-yellow?!" Mina asked, eyes wide.
"You can see me-wait, you can really see me!?" Hagakure asked, eyes wide as she bounced in place slightly.
"Yeah," Izuku said, confused. "Seriously, why wouldn't I be able to?"
"Because of her quirk, obviously," Kaminari said. "But, wait, does her quirk not affect you?"
"...uh…should it?" Izuku asked, scratching the back of his neck. "I, uh…Ihaven'tbeenabletofigureoutherquirkandatthispointI'mtooafraidtoaskwhatitis."
"Wanna say that slower?" Momo asked as Jirou nearly choked on a laugh.
"I…I don't know what Hagakure's quirk is-I've been trying to figure it out, but after this long, I didn't know how to ask-so, uh…what's…what's your quirk, Hagakure?" Izuku asked, knowing that there was no way around it at this point.
"...Izuku, I'm invisible," Hagakure said.
"...wait, what?" Izuku asked.
And, just like that, everyone burst out talking.
"You've been able to see her this whole time!?"
"What did you think her quirk was?!"
"Why didn't you say anything?!"
"Holy sh*t!"
Hagakure, meanwhile, just stared at Izuku, who stared her right in the eye.
"You…you can really see me," Hagakure said, tears in her eyes.
"Uh, I didn't mean to make you cry," Izuku said frantically, quickly making a handkerchief appear and handing it to her. "Uh, I'm using Dasu's illusion quirk for that, so it'll only last three minutes, but…I'm sorry."
Hagakure took the handkerchief and dabbed at her tears. "I…I didn't know you could see me-I'm invisible-my own parents can't see me."
"They can't?" Izuku asked. "Wait, can…can you see yourself?"
Hagakure nodded. "I…I can."
"Oh, that's…that's good," Izuku said awkwardly. "Uh…"
"I…I guess it would make sense you can see me," Hagakure said, sniffing slightly. "You can see ghosts-can you just see what's invisible to most people?"
"I, uh…I have no idea," Izuku said.
Hagakure laughed slightly as a few more tears fell, and everyone fell silent at that, their endless questions stopping. "I…I see. I've got to ask, though, what did you think my quirk was? If you didn't know I was invisible?"
"I was starting to think you were quirkless, honestly, and no one was rude enough to say something about it," Izuku said.
"Quirkless?" Aoyama asked, and Izuku looked at him. "Everyone knows quirkless people aren't able to make it to the hero course, insensé." (Foolish one in French).
Izuku blinked at him. Once. Twice.
"Shut the f*ck up."
Aoyama-heck, everyone-jumped at that as Odin spoke harshly through Izuku.
"P-Pardon?" Aoyama asked.
"Quirkless people can do anything if they work hard enough," Odin snapped, getting really angry-a wave of anger shot through the Mind Palace like a tidal wave. "And you shouldn't talk about them like that."
"There isn't anything that they can do-" Aoyama said.
"I consider all of the younger ones in the Mind Palace to be my children," Odin snapped as lightning crackled along Izuku's skin, the super strength quirk starting to activate, and everyone yelped and jumped back as he glared at Aoyama with a look that could kill. "Are you aware that two of us are, in fact, quirkless? And we divide ourselves into teams-they're on our fighting team-they're going to be heroes just like the rest of us."
"Ah, but that is a different circumstance-" Aoyama started.
"Two hundred years ago," Odin said, "almost everyone on the planet was quirkless-did you know that?"
"Well, everyone does, Bien sûr," Aoyama said. (Of course in French). "But-"
"Two hundred years ago, people with quirks were always the villains," Odin said.
Ok, we need to calm down-Hirah, dial it down-
NO WAY IN HELL-
Another wave of anger, just as strong as the last one, crashed through the Mind Palace, and Izuku saw red.
"Do you know what I would have given to be quirkless back then?" Odin snapped. "Do you know what people used to say about people with quirks back then?! Do you know how bad I got bullied for wanting to be a police officer with a quirk? Do you know how hard my own mom had to fight just to stay on the police force two hundred years ago? How many times our home got vandalized? How many freaking death threats I was getting by the time I was in high school, just because I wanted to be a police officer just like Mom-"
"Odin."
Izuku quickly took control of his body as he felt himself shake, but he wasn't done.
"Hey, hey, maybe you should-" Shoto started, reaching over to gently put a hand on Izuku's back.
"Do you know how badly I was bullied just because my quirk came in late? Five years late and I almost-"
Izuku shoved past his classmates and out of the room, practically then breaking into a sprint as he darted to the stairs, down a flight and over to the boy's side, to his dorm, and slammed it shut, immediately falling against the door as he felt Hex lose control of the depression, letting it grow-
Yui was quick to start taking control, copying Odin's quirk and singing a song that Izuku really wasn't paying attention to to calm everyone down-
There was a knock on the door, and Izuku took a deep breath.
"Go away," Izuku said firmly, knowing that he wasn't up to facing his classmates right now-not after that, not when he was still so angry-
"Izuku, please?"
Izuku paused, then turned and opened the door.
"Are you ok?" Shoto asked quietly.
"...sorry about that-I should go apologize," Izuku muttered.
"Hitoshi's scolding Aoyama about it-can't really hide that your quirk came in late after you said it," Shoto said, stepping into Izuku's room and gently shutting the door, pulling Izuku into a hug-
Izuku just started sobbing as he clung to Shoto, starting to sob.
(Geez, I decide to write a cute, light-hearted chapter, but NO, Aoyama decided to be a little b*tch and Izuku and Odin have *trauma* around quirklessness. AND NOW HAGAKURE'S LEARNED THAT IZUKU CAN SEE HER, but now I have to deal with the aftermath of THAT conversation. THANKS AOYAMA, I DON'T FEEL BAD FOR WHAT'S COMING TO YOU-)
Aizawa-sensei sighed as he looked at his students, noting that Shoto-Yukito, that was going to take some getting used to (you and me both, Aizawa-)-Izuku, and Bakugou were all absent-great.
Aizawa-sensei sighed. "So, let me get this straight. Firstly, Izuku can see Hagakure and has been able to this entire time. When he was asked what he thought her quirk was, he said he thought she was quirkless, so Aoyama made a quirkist comment, and Izuku and Odin flipped out and ran to his room."
"Yes, Aizawa-sensei," Iida said.
Aizawa-sensei sighed, then looked at Aoyama. "Detention for two weeks and a paper on discrimination."
"But-" Aoyama said.
Aizawa-sensei glared at him, and Aoyama immediately went silent.
Aizawa-sensei then looked at everyone again. "Two of Izuku's Sides are quirkless. Odin herself was disowned from her family because of her quirk and had a brother that was thought quirkless for years. I'm aware none of you knew this, and perhaps it isn't my place to say. However, just because the Midoriyas have a connection to quirklessness doesn't mean that I would allow for quirkist comments in my classroom in any situation. I have given All Might three black eyes over quirkist comments, and while I won't be doing that to any of you, I will assign detention immediately. Understood?"
Everyone nodded.
"Good," Aizawa-sensei said. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go check on Izuku." With that, he turned and walked up to the second floor, walking up to Izuku's door and knocking quietly.
"Come in," he heard Yukito say, and Aizawa-sensei quickly opened the door.
Izuku was leaning against Yukito, fast asleep and had clearly been crying.
"Everything alright?" Aizawa-sensei asked.
"Yeah, just…well, he'll be fine," Yukito said.
Aizawa-sensei hummed. "He's probably going to have to explain what upset him to your classmates-I know that Shinsou did, and I had to explain a little bit, too, but…"
Yukito nodded, then looked at Izuku. "...He's going to have to explain to me, Hitoshi, and Katsuki, too."
"Wait…really?" Aizawa-sensei asked, raising an eyebrow. "You…you do know that Hex and Paz are quirkless, right?"
"He…he said some other stuff-he promised to tell the three of us about Odin's past since we don't know the full story," Yukito said.
"I see," Aizawa-sensei said. "Well, I'll leave you two be-when Izuku wakes up, remind him that he has a session with Hound Dog tomorrow."
Yukito nodded, and with that, Aizawa-sensei stepped out of the dorm room and went over to his on-campus apartment.
…..I have to get back to light-heartedness, but first!...
Izuku took a deep breath as he looked at Eimi, Kai, Kacchan, Toshi, and Shoto.
"So…I'm going to have to explain to the rest of the class-at least, a little bit," Izuku said. "But I'm probably not going to tell them everything, but since you guys…well, I'll start at the beginning." Izuku took another deep breath, then Odin took over and began the story.
(Chapter Five is Odin's backstory, and it was recently updated, too! I update it too much, but hey, third time's the charm!)
"Wait, that…that monster in Kamino," Shoto said. "Odin said her brother was at Kamino-"
"When did she tell you that?" Izuku asked, eyes wide.
I was already panicking at Kamino-we all were-I didn't want to add onto that by telling you that these idiots were there, too.
"Why the heck were you in Kamino?!" Izuku hissed.
"We wanted to rescue you," Shoto said.
"We made them leave quickly before anything could happen," Eimi said. "We did see the fight on screens while we were in Kamino, though."
Izuku sighed. "Ok. Never do that again, got it?"
The three boys nodded.
"Good," Izuku said. "Because you would've gotten in a lot of trouble and maybe died, and I wouldn't be happy if I'd have to make a contract with all of you if you died from something so stupid-even Brazen wouldn't suggest something so reckless!"
Bold assumption.
"I would hope that Brazen wouldn't do something so reckless in the moment to get people that we care about killed," Izuku quickly corrected himself. "And he knows it."
…yeah, that's fair.
"With that said…" Izuku said. "All for One…Junichiro…Lucas is gone. We don't know where his ghost went, and honestly, we don't care, either-unless he becomes a Wraith or finds a way to make a contract like my ghosts, he's pretty much out of the picture for good." He paused. "Even if he does show up, I can just exorcize him, too." Izuku grinned at that. "I can get rid of Wraiths now! Oh, I should probably go talk to Aizawa-sensei and ask him to go with me to get rid of Dave."
"Tch-I'm going with you, too," Kacchan said.
"Ok!" Izuku said, taking out his phone and sending Aizawa-sensei a text to ask. "I can't wait to get rid of him! This is going to be so great!"
….
Neito grumbled to himself as he slowly walked through the abandoned part of town, dead-set on his destination.
Technically, he wasn't supposed to be out on his own like this-all students leaving UA grounds-hero students especially-were supposed to be accompanied by a pro hero teacher or stay in highly-patrolled areas, but Vlad-sensei had been busy when Neito asked, instead signing the paperwork and waving Neito off, muttering something about Class 1-A being the villain magnets, so he would be fine on his own.
Which was kinda nice, since he was visiting his aunt's grave.
That 1-A student had gone and gotten kidnapped, then everything was a flurry of activity after that, so Neito hadn't had the time to even try talking to the other student-and it was ridiculous that he had to talk to that 1-A student just to talk to his aunt! So, here he was, in the dead of night, heading to her grave-maybe he could talk to her there instead of having to go through him.
It would be nice, however, if this part of town wasn't so creepy!
Neito shuddered slightly as he felt a chill down his spine, but he pushed it aside-after all, it was nighttime and nearly August, it wasn't going to be the warmest out. He kept walking until he came across the graveyard, which looked…
Neito started to take a step into the graveyard, but something felt…wrong. Which was weird. What would be so wrong about seeing his aunt's grave-
"WHAT IN THE FLYING F*** DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!?"
Neito jumped and turned just in time for black, tentacle-like things to wrap around him and yank him away from the graveyard, setting him back down a distance away-
Neito glanced up and glared at none other than Izuku Midoriya-of course he showed up here. Of freaking course.
"What-" Neito started.
"You're here alone?"
Neito paused and turned to see Aizawa-sensei, giving him a tired look.
When Neito didn't answer, Aizawa-sensei looked around. "There should be a pro hero here with you when you're off campus."
"Vlad-sensei was busy-besides, I'm not one of your students-I'm not a danger magnet-" Neito started.
"Oh, shut up," Midoriya-no, that was Neito's aunt-grumbled as Midoriya glared at him. "You done messed up, A-A-Ron." (three points if you get this reference, one of my friends is saved under "A-A-Ron" in my phone).
Neito gave him a weird look. "What the-"
Aizawa-sensei suddenly grabbed his shoulder and tugged him back. "You are going to stay quiet for a few minutes, then you will stay quiet until we get back to the dorms. Understand?"
Neito started to argue back, but all it took was for Aizawa-sensei to turn on his quirk for Neito to shut up.
Aizawa-sensei glared at Neito for just a few more seconds before he looked at Midoriya. "Alright."
…the only reference I have for exorcisms is the one volume of Blue Exorcist I read, at least five years ago, so I'm referencing random advice from a Wiki How article, which I DO NOT RECOMMEND…..
Izuku took a deep breath as he glanced between Aizawa-sensei and Monoma, wishing that he had Kacchan, Toshi, Shoto, his Dad-
A wave of calm washed over the Mind Palace.
Take a deep breath-we're going to get through this, then we can go back to the dorms, ok?
Right.
Izuku stepped forward to stand right outside of the graveyard-
Where Dave was waiting, just on the other side.
"LET ME GO!" Dave wailed, loud enough to make Izuku flinch and a wave of fear rage through the Mind Palace-
It was immediately squashed down as a wave of confidence replaced it, and Izuku squared his shoulders as his grip on the exorcism kit tightened-even if Hinata was taking his anxiety and Darlina was taking his fear, they weren't completely gone.
"You're going to be gone for good, Dave," Izuku whispered as the winds suddenly picked up and the air seemed to hum. Izuku opened the exorcism kit, taking out some sage and copying Shoto's quirk to set it on fire, setting that gently on the ground as he pulled out the salt-
Izuku frowned at the small container. Is this going to be enough? Do I have to surround the whole graveyard with it? It was a smaller graveyard, but it was still about a 50 meter circumference, give or take, which…
Let's just make an illusion?
It will only last three minutes-will that be enough time?
We can only hope unless we want to send Aizawa-sensei to get more salt, which, no thanks!
Izuku took a deep breath as he used Dasu's illusion quirk to create a ring of salt around the graveyard, taking a deep breath as he grabbed the little book from the kit.
…we should have read this out loud sooner.
Is that Latin?
Yep, it is.
WHY DO YOU KNOW LATIN?!
REASONS, DANG IT!
Izuku just sighed. Hirah, you want to take over from here, then?
Hirah took control of Izuku's body and glanced over the little book before looking a still screaming Dave right in the eye and beginning to recite the words.
….
Aizawa wasn't entirely sure what he was expecting the exorcism to look like-maybe the ghost would be visible in its last few seconds, maybe it would look like nothing would happen, maybe there would be a bright light-
Well, it was that last one, but he did not expect to that degree.
As Midoriya-not Izuku, but Aizawa wasn't sure off the top of his head which one-began to read in another language, the illusion salt ring suddenly began to glow, the sage on the ground turning completely to ash that floated around in the wind, spiraling around slightly-
And a ghost suddenly appeared-older than Aizawa was, screaming his head off, swearing in English with a heavy accent, but Izuku didn't even flinch, continuing to speak in the language as the salt became brighter, the ash swirling around the ghost before attaching to him and turning into thick chains, attaching to the ground as a red circle appeared below the ghost, the chains attaching to the center of the circle-
The wind suddenly stopped as something shot out of the ground-that was a hand-and another joined it, reaching up and clawing its way out of the ground-
Aizawa went to activate his quirk, to move closer to his student, save him, save him-but he couldn't move as someone wearing a black cloak, complete with a hood shadowing over their face, clawed their way out of the ground, carrying a large scythe. The person looked around for just a few seconds before swinging the scythe through the ghost, making him disappear completely. The person-all of them-stared at the spot for just a few seconds before turning to Izuku-and Aizawa still. Couldn't. Move. Then the person began to talk.
…..
"Interesting-you can see me."
Izuku jolted slightly as he stared at the one in front of him-a Reaper.
(Reapers were rare-no ghost knew what created them and how they came to be, but they rarely showed up-maybe at the scene of a large tragedy where thousands of people died, but more often than not, they felt more like rumors than actual ghosts-Odin had mentioned seeing a few over the years, but had never interacted with one herself.)
"Y-Yeah-hello," Izuku said, hesitating for a second-should he offer to shake their hand? But there was something about touching Reapers, so maybe not?
The Reaper hummed. "I see. Is this a result of your quirk?"
Izuku nodded. "I can see ghosts…and invisible people, too-I…it's fun."
"I see," the Reaper said. "And you felt the need to exorcize that Wraith? May I ask why?"
"I…I couldn't leave him here," Izuku said. "People are going to work on this area eventually, not to mention my friend Yui's grave is here…and others, too, it's not fair to let it be this way, you know? People already didn't visit these graves, but I…I still can."
"Why was this Wraith staying in this area?" the Reaper asked.
"Oh, I…I rooted him here-he…he used to be tied to me, but I tied him here instead," Izuku said.
"Tied to you?" the Reaper asked.
"I can create and share Lifeforce with ghosts-it lets me use their quirks, lets them control part of me, and gives them a place in my head," Izuku said.
"May I meet them?" the Reaper asked.
"They're…they're kinda trapped in my head right now," Izuku said.
The Reaper hummed. "Very well." They looked at the red circle on the ground-Izuku did as well. "I had better depart-you will never have to worry about this particular Wraith again."
"Oh," Izuku said. "Thank you."
The Reaper paused at that. "You…you are thanking me?"
"Yes?" Izuku said.
"...you are a rather strange human-perhaps that's part of your quirk, I presume," the Reaper said, then paused again. "May I ask for your name?"
Is it safe to give my name to a Reaper?
It should be…I hope.
"Izuku Midoriya-what's your name?" Izuku asked.
"...Kesshuu Aikawa," the Reaper said. "Nice to…meet you."
"Nice to meet you, too!" Izuku said. "Uh…hope to see you again sometime?"
"I suppose," the Reaper said before stepping into the red circle and sinking into the ground.
Izuku stared at that spot for a few seconds as the illusion salt ring stopped glowing, disappearing a second later, along with the sage and the red circle. Then, taking a deep breath, he turned back to Aizawa-sensei and Monoma.
"That's taken care of!" Izuku said happily. "Let's head back to the dorms."
"...what the hell was that?" Monoma asked.
"You-" Aizawa-sensei started.
"No, don't even-I was here to visit my aunt's grave-I deserve some answers!" Monoma snapped, glaring at Izuku. "And you won't let her talk to me-"
"Who even said I want to at this time?" Yui asked, making Monoma pause.
"I-" Monoma started.
"I remember telling you during the training camp that I need time-I'm not doing ok right now, so can you please just give me that time?" Yui asked. "The more you push, the more time I'll need, got it?"
Monoma opened his mouth to answer, but he-smartly-decided at the last second not to say anything, instead just giving him a sharp nod.
"Now, let's get back to the dorms," Izuku said, then yawned. "I don't feel like using Endless Energy to stay up all night right now."
"Let's get back," Aizawa-sensei said, gently putting a hand on Izuku's shoulder and guiding the two boys back the way they'd come. "Monoma, we're going to have a talk with your teacher when we get back."
Monoma gulped, and thankfully, that kept him quiet as the three made their way back to UA.
…for the record, Monoma ended up with detention for a week…
"Hey, Izuku?"
"Hmm?" Izuku asked, looking over at Hagakure.
"So…you really can see me?" Hagakure asked.
"Yeah," Izuku said. "Sorry I never said anything sooner-we really had no idea you were invisible."
"So…can you just see anything that's invisible?" Hagakure asked. "Since you can see ghosts, too?"
"I guess?" Izuku asked. "At least, when it comes to people-and I can't see sound waves and stuff like that-Yumio wanted to cover all the bases with that after we discovered that." He chuckled slightly. "Yumio thinks that there's more behind it, but figuring that out is on the backburner until we can get my quirk…fixed."
"Oh," Hagakure said, then scratched the back of her neck. "Well…uh…I just have a question-not in a weird way, although there's no normal way to ask it…"
"What?" Izuku asked,
"Well…do you think I'm pretty?" Hagakure asked.
"...huh?" Izuku asked.
"I don't have a crush on you or anything-it's nothing like that!" Hagakure said. "It's just…no one can see me, even my parents can't see me, just me, so I've never…"
…that's really sad, actually.
Izuku nodded. "That makes sense." With that, Odin started talking. "Well, that's a shame that people can't see you-you're really pretty."
Hagakure lit up. "Really?!"
Izuku nodded. "Yep! Not in a romantic way, but you are." He paused, thinking for a few seconds. "I wonder if we can work with your quirk to make it so you can turn it off-it's more of a mutation quirk, but since you can see yourself and I can see you, too, maybe there's an emitter aspect to it-maybe you can even turn it off so others can see you, too!"
"I want to try!" Hagakure asked. "Would you mind helping?"
"Sure-we'd have to have someone else there, too, since I won't be able to notice the difference, but we can start analyzing on my end," Izuku said.
Yumio…
I suppose I can take a break from trying to figure out how to fix the quirk-
You, uh…you might not need to.
"Yumio's gonna get started on that…as soon as…wait, what?" Izuku said, blinking slowly.
Dot…explain.
You might *yawn* want to get over here, Izuku.
"Is something wrong?" Hagakure asked.
"No, not really…I have to go into my Mind Palace for a bit, talk more later?"
"Sure," Hagakure said.
"Thank you," Izuku muttered, then quickly made his way towards his room-
-running directly into Kacchan and Kirishima on his way.
"Hey, what's-" Kirishima started.
"I'm busy right now-talk later?" Izuku said, brushing past the two and heading towards his room-
Kacchan grabbed his arm. "What's wrong?"
Izuku looked at him. "Dot found something-might be what's breaking my quirk."
"Oh," Kacchan said. "Tell me about it later."
Izuku nodded, then continued to his room, plopping down on his bed face-first and immediately appearing in the entrance of the Mind Palace-
"I'm right *yawn* outside," Dot said.
"The rest of us are heading that way, too!" Odin yelled from somewhere.
"Right," Izuku said, stepping outside and turning to look for Dot.
"Other side of it," Dot said.
Izuku quickly ran around the Mind Palace towards the back, where Dot was leaning against the wall, rubbing her eyes.
"Alright, what did you find?" Izuku asked, looking around just as Dasu and Duke arrived.
"It's *yawn* really weird," Dot said, then fell to the side, proceeding to fall partway through the wall.
Izuku jumped, then turned to see-
"Oh, it's an illusionary wall!" Izuku said, peeking at the hallway it led to. (Four points if you get it because I had to spend so much time figuring out the term-if you don't know, it's like the secret entryway to the museum in Book of Life-two points if you get that). Izuku looked up. "It would be visible from above, too, so it doesn't lead inside…Dot, have you gone through yet?"
Dot shook her head. "I was *yawn* waiting for you."
"Alright, let's get going," Izuku said, walking down the hallway, followed closely by Dot, Dasu, and Duke, Yumio quickly joining them as well.
It wasn't long before the five stepped into a central courtyard, which caused them to pause.
At the center of the courtyard was a statue of Izuku t-posing, surrounded by nineteen statues, strings coming from eighteen of them to attach to Statue Izuku's wrists, the last one…
Izuku stared at the statue-it was rubble on the ground and had clearly been destroyed for a while…but part of the face was laying in the rubble…it was Dave's.
Izuku quickly looked over the other statues-there was one of each of the Sides from when they died-oh, well, a few moments before.
And all of them had strings that looped around Statue Izuku's fingers a few times before joining at the wrists. The strings were glowering dully, flickering every few seconds.
"What is this?" Izuku muttered, looking around.
"The Courtyard of Contracts."
Everyone jumped-it was the voice that went off whenever Izuku made a new contract!
"The…Courtyard of Contracts," Yumio said. "I wonder if I could find a book on that in the library."
"Over here!" Duke said, and everyone was quick to walk over to the edge of the courtyard, where there was plaque.
"The Courtyard of Contracts," Izuku read. "All contracted Sides are displayed surrounding the User, broken contracts displayed by broken statues that will fade upon interaction with the User. All contracts are shown via the strings, strongest when uninterruptedly joined from wrist to wrist. At the base is displayed new name and role."
"Uninterruptedly joined?" Yumio asked, confused.
Izuku looked at the statue of him, then at the hands…
"Oh!" Izuku said, walking over. "The strings shouldn't be wrapped around the fingers-help me out here!"
The Sides and Izuku quickly set to work untangling the strings-
The moment that the last string was untangled, all of the strings snapped tight, glowing a little brighter-
Almost immediately, all of the Sides were in the courtyard, and the Mind Palace felt…lighter.
"Woah!" Odin said, looking around.
"Yeah-I'm guessing that means we can leave the Mind Palace again," Yumio said.
"I guess so-I mean, we can enter now."
Everyone turned to see Eimi and Kai.
"Eimi, Kai-wait, ghost, I'm so sorry, I forgot to warn you-" Izuku started.
"We were on our way to the dorms anyway-as nice as it was to see Kota, it was about time for us to come back to you," Kai said.
"We were going to surprise you, but…well," Eimi added.
"I see," Izuku said. "We'll have to let Aizawa-sensei and Nezu-sensei know."
"And officially update our quirk registry again," Yumio said.
Everyone groaned.
"DAMNIT!" Izuku yelped. "I hate having to do that!"
"I can take care of it," Yumio said.
"Probably best," Duke said, then looked over at the broken statue. "Um…so, are we going to get rid of Dave's statue?"
"Oh, right," Izuku said, then walked over and gently touched the statue-
Immediately, Dave's statue disappeared, and the rest of the statues shifted slightly to be equal distance from each other-
A light suddenly shot from the spot the statue had been and flew into Izuku's chest, causing him to yelp and stumble back, everyone immediately crowding him-
"Izuku now possesses the full version of Disconnect," the voice said, and everyone's eyes grew wide. "Previously, he had possessed a weaker-version, but with the former side permanently gone, Disconnect has fully returned to Izuku."
"...what?" Izuku said.
Unfortunately, the voice didn't answer.
"Full…Disconnect was…were we not copying it?" Yui asked.
Izuku's eyes grew wide. "We…we had pulled enough to snap Shigaraki's string back at the USJ, enough to snap All for One's…we were using-"
A wave of fear went through everyone, but Darlina was quick to try to calm it down, but it did not work that well.
"Izuku-" Darlina started.
"HOLY SH*T!" Izuku exclaimed-
-sitting up in his bed and quickly standing, stumbling as his breath picked up-no, no, no, he hadn't been copying it, what-
Disconnect had been there the whole time-had it pulled at the strings-was Disconnect what caused everyone to be stuck in the Mind Palace, what-?
"Izuku, I need you to calm down."
An intense wave of calm went through the Mind Palace, enough to snap Izuku out of his panic-at least, long enough for Darlina and Hinata to pull it in while Kai gently rubbed his back.
"S-Sorry," Izuku muttered, taking a deep breath. "Just…"
"No need to explain right now," Kai said as Brazen popped out.
"Uh…mind if I…?" Brazen asked.
"Go get Aizawa-sensei, if you don't mind-mind sending Hitoshi, Shoto, or Katsuki up if you see them?" Odin asked, popping down next to Izuku. "If you see them, that is."
"Right," Brazen said, then opened the door-
"Oh, Izu-Brazen?" Shoto asked, having his hand raised like he was about to knock.
"Perfect timing!" Brazen said, patting him on the shoulder. "We can exit the Mind Palace now-I'm gonna go bug Aizawa-sensei and let him know what's going on."
"Right…mind if I come in?" Shoto asked, looking at Izuku as Brazen slipped past him.
"Sure," Izuku said, and Kai moved away so Shoto could sit down next to Izuku and pull him into a side hug.
"So…what happened?" Shoto asked. "How did you get the Sides to come out again?"
Izuku took a deep breath. "Well…"
…
Brazen hummed to himself as he ran the doorbell of the teacher's dorm building-the other dorm buildings didn't have doorbells, but the teachers didn't want students bursting into their dorms, and while they could just send their teachers a text, it was decided to be a good idea to have a doorbell just in case.
After a few seconds, Snipe opened the door and looked at Brazen.
"Uh…sorry, partner, but I'm not sure which teacher you're looking for," Snipe said.
"Aizawa-sensei, please," Brazen said.
"...which class are you in?" Snipe asked. "I'm pretty sure you ain't in 1-A…here for an ethic's question?"
"I'm one of Izuku Midoriya's Sides," Brazen said.
"Aren't you trapped…I'll just go get Aizawa," Snipe said, stepping back into the dorm building.
Brazen sat down on the stairs, not sure how long it would take to get Shota.
After a few minutes, the door opened, and Brazen looked to see Shota and Hizashi step out of the building.
"Hey!" Brazen said.
The two blinked at him.
"...I see that Izuku got his quirk back to normal," Shota said. "Is there a reason he's not here with you? He was supposed to tell me directly about his quirk."
"He nearly had a panic attack-he's currently in his dorm right now," Brazen said.
"Panic attack-is the listener alright?" Hizashi asked.
"Eh…we found out that we never actually got rid of Dave's quirk-Izuku hasn't been copying it this entire time, it's just been a weaker version-we have the full version now," Brazen said.
"...the same quirk that he's previously panicked about using," Shota said.
"Yep," Brazen said.
"Alright, let's go check on him," Shota said. "You didn't leave him alone, right?"
"No, Shoto's with him-Kai and Odin were out, too-Yui and Eimi have joined them, Yumio's currently calling our quirk counselor person," Brazen said.
"I see," Shota said. "Well, let's get going."
…
"Alright, everyone, this is Eimi and Kai-they're my latest contracts, Eimi being Confidence and Kai being Calm," Izuku said later as all of his Sides were sitting around the common room-having not been out in a while-and the rest of his class there, too.
"Nice to meet you!" Mina said, reaching out to shake Eimi's hand.
"Same to you!" Eimi said.
"You look familiar, kero," Tsu said.
"They were the Water Hose Duo when they were alive," Izuku said.
"Oh, really?!" Uraraka said, bouncing slightly. "That's so cool!"
"Yeah-we can't wait to be helping out Izuku as a hero," Kai said.
"But wasn't that kid from the camp your kid?" Kirishima asked. "Kota?"
"Yep-he's our son-we'll probably go visit him often, and he might stop by here as well," Eimi said.
"Really?" Momo asked, glancing over at Aizawa-sensei, who was standing nearby.
"Since the school partners with the Wild Wild Pussycat team, they're technically part-time employees, so they have access to the campus more easily than most heroes otherwise would," Aizawa-sensei shrugged.
"I see," Momo said.
"Well, with that introduction over, you'll have more chances to talk-1-A has one of the gyms booked today to work over special moves in preparation for the Provisional License Exam-it's in two weeks, so you'd better start preparing now," Aizawa-sensei said.
There was a pause.
"WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US?!" everyone exclaimed, scrambling to get ready to run to the changing rooms to put on their hero costumes.
"Villains won't wait for you to prepare," Aizawa-sensei said, then grinned. "I'll see you at the gyms in fifteen minutes." With that, he walked away as the students began to run towards the school to get their cases, the Sides all disappearing as wings popped out of Izuku's back, allowing him to get to the changing rooms a little faster than the rest.
And that's it for this chapter, what do you think?
I don't really feel like writing the special moves scenes, to be completely honest-I'm also against yelling out what move you're about to use because it clues the enemy on what you're about to do, so…it's pretty much the same, but Izuku figures out his own stuff.
As I said, we're pretty much in the home stretch! I'm covering the Provisional License Arc next, a chapter between, the Overhaul Arc, an aftermath chapter that might lead into the School Festival Arc, then I pretty much stall for time until the Paranormal Liberation Arc, and since All for One is dead, that's where I end things, with one more epilogue chapter. Am I glossing over stuff that's decently important? Probably, but also…well, a bunch of stuff happens differently because of the changes I've made. And, as I stated, everything's already planned out, so while I'm happy to read through every single review, please stop with the suggestions, especially PMs about what I should do. I had one person PM me and was being really rude when I told them that I wasn't taking suggestions, so I haven't responded to anyone else.
Sorry about that little rant there, but I hope you're excited for the home stretch!
