Hello! Are you ready for the Provisional License Exam Arc? Because I am…absolutely not!
Just kidding, I've had this planned for a while, but first, let's flash back to the Recommendation Exams.
Inasa had always idolized Endeavor, ever since he was a child.
Most did. After all, he was the Number Two Hero, second only to All Might, but with the most captures. Inasa himself had loved the Endeavor figurines he'd had as a child-his appreciation of the hero was one of the reasons he wanted to attend UA, and what led him to taking the Recommendation Exam, which…definitely changed his perspective on a few things.
At first, everything had been going fine…while Endeavor had been a little unexpectedly cold despite his quirk. Perhaps he'd been having a bad day (although, during summer vacation, Inasa would realize that it had not been the case).
The written exam had gone well, Inasa later discovering that he had a 60%, which was not the best, but it had gotten him through to the practical, where everyone had, understandably, seemed nervous. Inasa almost scored a win, having passed by Endeavor's son within the last few seconds of the race, but Todoroki had, in the last possible second, rushed past him and scored first place. Inasa had turned to congratulate him…but Todoroki had already walked away. Getting ready for the next competitors, of course! And the boy hadn't talked to him before the interviews, but, then again, nobody had said a word.
Now, afterwards…
"Hey, wait up!"
The dual-haired boy didn't stop, or even seem to notice Inasa approaching him-that was…a little rude.
Inasa rushed over and walked next to the boy. "So, great job getting first place! It was a very close one, but you did manage to beat me! Do you think we'll be in the same class-"
"Leave me alone," Todoroki said, glaring at Inasa, who paused.
"E-Excuse me?" Inasa asked.
"I think I've already made it clear that I don't want to talk or stick around longer than necessary," Todoroki said. "I have somewhere to be, and I'm not here to talk."
"But we're going to be classmates-shouldn't we start making connections now?" Inasa asked.
"I don't care-as I said, I have somewhere to be-take a hint," Todoroki said, then quickly walked away while Inasa stopped and stared after him.
That shock quickly turned to anger, and despite ranking second in the exam, Inasa ultimately decided to go to Shiketsu High School, where he let his anger for the boy simmer and fester-
Then the trial happened.
Everyone was watching-after all, the Number Two Hero getting brought to court by his wife and children? With Nezu backing the kids up? That wasn't something that happened, and it was all anyone was talking about-at home, with Inasa's friends, on the news, on the streets, nowhere was silent about it.
At least, not until the Kamino incident happened and All Might was forced to retire. Then that green-haired boy, Izuku Midoriya, the winner of the Sport's Festival, the one with the quirk that helped get Endeavor arrested was the talk of anywhere.
Inasa couldn't help but feel sorry for the boy-after all, he got kidnapped, and during All Might's press conference, when asked about the boy, he had let slip that the boy was in the hospital-poor kid!
But what Inasa was most interested in was the fact that he had been present at Endeavor's trial. Was he close to Todoroki, and that's why he helped like he did? Did Midoriya even know that Todoroki was just as rude as his father?
Well, Inasa would definitely make sure that he knew-after all, rumor had it that UA would be at the same Provisional License Exam as Shiketsu High School, and Inasa was proud to say that he would be there-and, even if the rest of the students weren't, surely the hero student that helped All Might take down such a villain would be testing to get some kind of license, right?
….
Izuku was bouncing on his heels as he stepped off the bus, the rest of his class right behind him.
"It's too early for this," Aizawa-sensei mumbled, then spoke louder. "Remember, class. While we're here, you're representing UA-I trust that you'll take that into account and act accordingly."
"Yes, sir," everyone immediately said.
"Good-I'll be up in the stands watching," Aizawa-sensei said, glancing at Izuku. "Remember that your Sides are registered under your quirk, and their actions are also seen as your actions, meaning that they can help you with portions of this exam. I do suggest keeping the younger ones close so other examinees don't think they're not supposed to be there."
"Yes, sir," Izuku said.
"Good," Aizawa-sensei said. "Now, just remember your training. Plus-"
"ULTRA!"
Everyone jumped and immediately turned to see a boy in a Shiketsu uniform, along with a few other students walking over.
"Yoarshi!" one of the students said. "It's rude to interrupt others' huddles!"
The boy bowed deeply-like, his head was on the floor. "Sorry, I always wanted to say it just once."
"That's fair, but it's still rude-don't go bleeding before the exam starts," Odin said as Izuku stepped forward, giving the student a small smile.
"Of course!" the boy-Yoarashi-said, standing right up…and still bleeding.
Izuku sighed, then quietly sung his healing song under his breath, the blood quickly washing away as well.
"Hmm?" Yoarashi asked, reaching up and touching his face, then looking at his hand. "I was bleeding just a second ago-I didn't know that was part of your quirk!"
We shouldn't reveal so much when we don't know his quirk-we might have to fight him here.
Oh, yeah! Exams are usually some kind of fight, then some kind of rescue portion!
Well, it's not like our quirk is a secret, what with the Sports Festival, the Endeavor Trial, and Kamino.
…
…
…WAIT-
"Isn't it rude to assume about our quirk when we haven't made assumptions about yours?" Dasu asked as Izuku smiled. "I'm sure yours is very interesting."
"Ah, yes!" Inasa said. "My quirk is Whirlwind-I can move the air around me in a very wide area!"
"Yoarashi-" one of his classmates started to say.
"That's Shishikura-his quirk is called Meatball," Yoarashi continued, oblivious to his classmates telling him to shut up. "That's Mora-his quirk is Extend-o-Hair. And that's Utsushimi-her quirk is called Glamour!"
Shishikura facepalmed while Izuku wanted to laugh. Instead, he smiled.
"It's nice to meet you!" Izuku said. "My name is Midoriya–and yep, that was part of my quirk!"
Do you think we can copy their quirks like that?
Hmm…well, Yoarashi's quirk should be easy enough to work with. I'm not sure about Meatball, but Extend-o-Hair should be easy enough. Glamour…well, there's not really a point to doing it when we already have an illusion quirk-I wonder if that's what's making her appear…slightly distorted, though? Is she using her quirk right now?
Last second training, maybe?
That seems counterproductive at this point…
"Very nice!" Yoarashi started-
"I swear there isn't a brain in your head," Shishikura said, grabbing the back of Yoarashi's uniform and gently pulling. "How did you get here in your first year while being that clueless?"
"Hmm?" Yoarashi asked, but the four students simply left, muttering out good lucks back to the class.
"...who was that?" Kaminar asked quietly.
"Inasa Yoarashi-he won't be an easy opponent if you fight," Aizawa-sensei said. "He placed second in the UA recommendation exam, but for some reason, he decided to decline the offer."
"Oh," Kaminari asked as Izuku leaned closer to Shoto.
"I'm betting you beat him?" Izuku asked.
Shoto thought for a few seconds. "Uh…probably? The Recommendation Exam is a blur…"
Izuku pouted. "Well, at least I can copy his quirk-he shouldn't have given me that information, now I know what to look out for."
"Hey, Shota! It's been a long time!"
The students all turned to see-
"Joke," Aizawa-sensei said coldly. "Not long enough."
"Ha!" Joke said. "You and your jokes-they just crack me up!"
"They seem…close," Tsu said.
Joke looked at her. "Our workplaces used to be close to each other, so we'd help each other out when needed. And from there, our love blossomed-"
"No," Aizawa-sensei said, then looked at his class. "She teaches at Ketsubutsu, second year."
Just like that, a few students from Ketsubutsu walked up.
"Hi, there!" a black-haired student said, walking up and reaching forward, grabbing Izuku's hand and shaking it. "It's nice to meet you-you're Midoriya, right?"
Izuku blinked at him.
Well, that's a little rude.
"Mind telling me your name first?" Izuku asked.
"Yo Shindo!" the boy said. "Can't wait to fight you out there!"
"Same!" Izuku said, blinking at him, wishing that there was some kind of tell for what this guy's quirk could be-
Shindo let go of Izuku's hand and reached out to Kacchan to shake his hand-
"Don't you know that it's rude to touch someone without their permission?" Kacchan said, glaring at the boy.
"Bakubro, don't be rude-" Kirishima started.
Meanwhile, Shindo chuckled, scratching the back of his neck. "Yeah, you've got a point."
"Class, go get changed into your hero costumes!" Joke said, then looked at Class A, then again at Aizawa-sensei. "Did you tell them about the…you know?"
"Why would I start telling my students now?" Aizawa-sensei asked.
"...tell us what?" Hitoshi asked, looking a little uneasy.
"Probably to point out that the rest of the students know our quirks, right?" Izuku asked.
Everyone immediately paused, looking at Izuku.
"Oh, you did tell a student!" Joke said. "But only one?"
"I didn't tell him," Aizawa-sensei said, looking at Izuku. "When did you figure it out?"
"Yoarashi gave out too much information," Izuku shrugged. "Besides, I didn't introduce myself to Ms. Joke's students, yet Shindo already knew my name."
"Ha!" Joke said. "You sure do have a smart student there, Eraser! I'd better get going-see you in the stands!" With that, she walked away.
"Aizawa-sensei, why didn't you warn us?" Mina grumbled.
"Villains don't give you the same warning-now, come on, time to go change for orientation," Aizawa-sensei said.
….
"There are 1540 examinees, and all of them know our quirks, but we only know three besides ours-we're toast!"
Izuku looked at Hagakure, making sure to meet her eyes (she'd said that she was so happy that someone was able to see her and actually look her in the eye, so he made sure to do that as much as possible). "Aizawa-sensei's right. Villains will know our quirks if we become limelight-underground is a different story, but it still might be tricky. The best heroes take that into account and plan accordingly-I'm sure that all of us can do this. Plus Ultra and all that." Izuku paused for a few seconds. "And you've said that you're working on making everything you're wearing invisible, including your gloves and shoes?"
"Yeah…still not invisible from you, though," Hagakure said.
"I'm not targeting you here-you've got this," Izuku said.
Hagakure took a deep breath, then nodded as they listened for the countdown-almost time to start. "Right. I can do this."
"All of us can," Izuku said as the alarm went off.
Immediately, the Class decided to separate, a few here and there sticking together while they began to span out-
Izuku was quick to send Hinata, Dot, and Darlina on surveillance to look for other examinees to avoid a surprise attack as he separated from his classmates-they could take care of themselves easy enough, which just left Izuku and his Sides-
Behind you.
Izuku was quick to spin around and activate Odin's super strength, throwing quickly at one of the targets on the student, hitting it as the ball soared past him-
There's a target on his back!
Attraction-
The ball doubled back and hit the target, the student jolting in surprise as Izuku rushed forward and hit the last target.
"Ah!" the student said, falling down. "H-How did you-but your quirk is-"
"I have way too many quirks for anyone to know-better luck next time," Izuku said, then turned and continued to walk away, more of his Sides exiting the Mind Palace to continue searching around for danger-
Something's going on over here.
Immediately, Izuku changed direction, a ball in hand as Hinata darted over and floated in front of one of his "weak points," invisible but solid, also small enough for there to be no problem.
Oh, it's her.
Izuku stepped to the side just as a ball appeared out of nowhere-it wouldn't have hit him, but still.
"Aw, boo," Utsushimi pouted, still slightly distorted-maybe that's what she looked like? It would be rude to mention it, though. "I thought I'd at least hit part of you."
"Well, oops-that shot was too wide, it wouldn't have hit me either way," Izuku said, going to throw the ball.
Utsushimi smirked as she began to step forward towards Izuku, who threw the ball and hit one of the weak points.
Utsushimi instantly jumped back, giving him a surprised look. "What-I'm using my quirk, though!"
"Am I not supposed to see-geez, Glamour isn't an invisibility quirk, right?" Izuku groaned, grabbing another ball. "Those apparently don't work on me-I thought Glamour would be an illusion quirk of some kind, not an invisibility one, though."
Utsushimi growled, then a few copies of her appeared…but she was the only one that looked slightly distorted. Huh.
Izuku glanced at the targets, one on her arm, one on her leg, the third not visible from where Izuku was standing-
It's on her lower back.
Ah.
Odin grabbed the ball and walked over to Utsushimi, tapping the one on her back.
"What?!" Utsushimi said, then created an illusion of herself behind her, all of the illusions seeming to speak. "How did you-?"
Izuku bit his lip as he reached for Disconnect, tugging at the…wait, why were there two strings above her head? One was more transparent than the other…Izuku pulled at both-
The more transparent string snapped, while the other slightly responded to the tug-it didn't snap-and Utsushimi…melted into-
Izuku froze immediately, because wtf was TOGA doing here!?
Toga blinked. "Uh…this wasn't supposed to happen."
Odin quickly grabbed the ball and hit the last target-
Izuku darted forward and grabbed Toga, who jolted but was quick to draw out a knife-
A small sensor went off, and the three targets on Izuku fell off as a speaker opened on the back of one of them. "Izuku Midoriya, please bring Himiko Toga to the exit door closest to you. You have passed the exam-we will take it from there."
"Gladly," Izuku said as more of his Sides appeared, restraining Toga and dragging her to the closest door.
…examinees have been announced over the intercoms so everyone knows, but I don't think that announcing that a known villain is loose in the exam area would be a very good idea, so they're trying to keep it peacefully. The speakers aren't for this purpose, though, more in case a student doesn't realize that they passed. And there are cameras everywhere, so it was immediately understood that Izuku was engaged with Toga by a security team…..
Aizawa's phone started buzzing, and he sighed as he grabbed it.
"Ooh, who's that?" Joke said. "Our wedding officiant?"
"It's…security," Aizawa said, confused as he answered. "Hello-"
"Eraserhead, can you come down to assist us with an arrest?"
"Arrest-what-" Aizawa said.
"Himiko Toga."
Immediately, Aizawa was standing. "Location?"
"Main entrance-we have a cop car on the way to fully detain her, but backup would be appreciated."
"I'm on my way," Aizawa said, then began to speed walk away-
"I'm coming with," Joke said, her tone serious as she followed Aizawa-as much as she loved to joke around, she knew when to take a situation seriously-one of the few reasons Aizawa hadn't punched her yet. "What's the situation?"
"A member of the League of Villains-I don't know much other than that," Aizawa said as the two left the stands.
….
Izuku took a deep breath as he stepped into the waiting area.
The Commission workers here immediately arrested Toga and said that the cops were called, but they're continuing the exam and just keeping an extra close eye on everyone-as if the League of Villains isn't a threat! How did they find out what testing ground we're on anyway?
Don't freak out-
"Hello!"
Izuku jumped and went to punch whoever was standing right next to him-
"Ah, didn't mean to startle you!" Yoarashi said.
"Oh, hi, uh…congrats on pacing?" Izuku said.
"To you as well!" Yoarashi said, looking around-they were the first two students in the waiting room-that was good at least.
Izuku gave him a small smile as he sat down in one of the chairs against the wall, leaning back and taking a deep breath.
"May I sit next to you?" Yoarashi asked.
"...sure, but I'm a little…overwhelmed right now-just a warning," Izuku said.
"Did something happen?" Yoarashi asked as he sat down.
Are we…allowed to talk about it?
"Not sure if I can tell you, sorry," Izuku said.
"I see…was it really that bad?" Yoarashi asked.
Izuku sighed. "Yeah…but I'll be in top shape for the next part-I think that we'll all be working together for that part, so that's nice."
"I see!" Yoarashi said. "How do you know that, though?"
Izuku tapped his brain. "It's not a secret that I have ghosts in my head-two of them have been at Provisional Exams before-one as a student, the other as an observer."
"Interesting-mind if I ask about that?" Yoarashi asked.
"There's eighteen of them in my head-we could almost make an entire class on our own," Izuku said, chuckling slightly. "Actually, you talked to a few of them earlier-we sometimes switch out who's talking."
"Interesting!" Yoarashi said. "Must be why you got done so fast!"
"I guess-you got done before me, though," Izuku said. "That's really cool!"
"Thank you!" Yoarashi said. "None of your classmates seem to be done yet, either!"
"Same for yours-I mean, we're the only two here," Izuku said, raising an eyebrow.
"Even that Todoroki boy," Yoarashi said.
"...Yukito, you mean?" Izuku asked. "He changed his last name after the Trial."
"I see-well, like father like son, either way," Yoarashi muttered quietly.
Izuku blinked at him slowly. "I'm sorry, what did you just say?"
"Well…you are aware how his father is," Yoarashi said. "After all, you helped take him down-"
"So?" Izuku said. "Shoto isn't anything like his father."
"Yes he is-he was just as cold to me during the Recommendation Exam," Yoarashi said. "And to think I used to think Endeavor was so cool-"
"Shoto is my best friend-trust me, I think I know better than someone who just saw him on a bad day," Izuku snapped.
"But-" Yoarashi said.
"You literally know nothing about him-it's appalling that you think you do from one interaction!" Izuku said. "I mean, have you seen him pet a cat? Protecting his friends? Dragged him over for a t.v. marathon because you need someone to give you a hug-and, trust me, he gives the best hugs! He's my best friend and has literally dropped everything to come help me when I needed-he'll do it for any of his friends! And you have the nerve to say he's just like the guy that in trial was confirmed to abuse him and his family? And you want to be a hero?"
"Well-" Yoarashi started.
"Because I wouldn't trust you to save anyone with an attitude like that!" Izuku said. "What if you run across an abused child and have to arrest their abusive parents? Are you going to be mean to the child because like father like son?"
Yoarashi stared at him, going slightly pale.
"Grow up," Izuku snapped-no, it was all the Sides. "Because some of us were abused children that didn't get saved-and we wouldn't trust you to save us." With that, Izuku got up and quickly walked over to the bathroom, feeling like he was about to start crying and needing more room to breathe-
A wave of calm washed over the Mind Palace as Izuku entered the bathroom.
…so, I had wanted Izuku to get a full license after Kamino as a show of "this kid helped the Symbol of Peace, we can trust that he'll take the mantle after graduating," and Kamino was kind of like a good testing ground of sorts (fighting a powerful enemy and making sure that the rescued person got to safety and all), but NO, I decided that I would do this instead for the above interaction, and I hate it, but I can't write it any better. SO. Ready for the next part? BECAUSE I'M NOT-
Upon entering the waiting area, Shoto immediately looked around and spotted Izuku sitting next to Hitoshi.
"Hey," Shoto said, walking over and sitting next to Izuku, who gave him a small…almost pained smile.
Immediately, Shoto pulled his friend into a small side hug. "Is something wrong?"
Izuku took a deep breath, then spoke using Mandalay's quirk.
Toga was here.
Shoto immediately tensed up, looking around. "Where-"
She got arrested on sight-she was that girl from Shiketsu High-I haven't heard any other updates on the situation.
Shoto leaned in a little closer. "And they're continuing the exam?"
Keeping an eye on the remaining examinees, but to keep up appearances and all.
"I see…who all knows?" Shoto asked.
Just me and you two right now-but the Sides have done a little looking, and we haven't spotted any other members of the League.
"That's good at least-want to stick together for the last part, just in case?" Shoto asked.
Izuku nodded, leaning a little more against him, Hitoshi leaning against him.
"And…plan for telling our classmates?" Shoto asked.
I won't tell the others until afterwards-I didn't want to tell you, but you know when something's wrong, and I want a hug.
Shoto didn't say anything at that, just hugged Izuku a little tighter.
…..
Inasa sat not too far away, watching the three boys closely as Todoroki-what had Midoriya called him, Yukito?-seemed to whisper something to Midoriya and give him a hug.
Is he really….that different? Inasa wondered. It's strange…
"Hey, Yoarashi."
Inasa looked up to see Mora.
"Hey-I'm glad you passed!" Inasa said.
"Yep-it was harder than I thought-geez, a bunch of UA students have already passed, huh?" Mora asked, gesturing at the three boys and around the room, where a few other students were sitting, seeming to be giving the three some space-maybe because Midoriya looked upset? Was it because of Inasa? He…he felt a little bad, but…would he really make such a bad hero that people wouldn't trust him? Just because of that?
Inasa looked away from them. "Midoriya passed right after I did-I got first."
"Oh, awesome!" Mora said. "Congratulations, Yoarashi!"
"Thanks!" Inasa said. "I wonder what the next phase will be!"
"We'll find out soon-there's about 80 people left," Mora said, then looked around. "I don't see Utsushimi or Shishikura."
"I haven't, either," Inasa said. "Strange-I had thought I would see at least one of them much sooner-I assume they will be coming in before long."
"Of course," Mora said, then sat down next to Inasa.
…..
"And that's all one hundred examinees passing onto the next portion of the exam. The first exam is over. Examinees that did not pass need to leave the premises. Examinees that did pass, head to the waiting room and wait for further instructions."
Class 1-A all cheered as Iida and Aoyama walked in through the doors, the entire class having passed the first phase.
Nearby, Yoarashi and Mora were sulking that Utsushimi and Shishikura hadn't passed.
"I'm so glad that we all passed!" Momo said.
"Yeah-ready to get our licenses?" Uraraka said, her fierce face on.
"Yeah!" the class said, not too loud to disturb the other examinees.
Izuku beamed, having pulled himself together a little better after Shoto had showed up. "Can't wait for all of us to pass-we've got this!"
"May I have your attention please. Direct your attention to the screen."
Everyone immediately paid attention to the screen that turned on, showing the battlefield now destroyed.
"The battlefield has become a disaster site, which is the next and last stage of your exam. Here, you will be conducting rescue maneuvers. You will be saving 'citizens' that have already placed themselves around the site. Before anyone panics, they are trained in rescue scenarios and can act if need be, but their job is to let you rescue them here. You will be graded in a point system, and once the area is cleared, those that exceed the average will pass. You have ten more minutes to prepare-use it wisely."
"Right-Momo, do you need more food for your quirk-Sato, same with you?" Izuku asked.
"It would be nice," Momo said while Sato nodded.
"Sweet-Momo, here's some avocados-that should help," Izuku said, handing her a handful of avocados that Momo quickly began to eat, then took Sato's empty sugar containers and began to fill them.
"Thank you," Momo and Sato said at the same time.
"No problem-anyone want water?" Izuku asked.
His classmates began to nod, and Izuku started to make water bottles and passing them around-
"Hey, have any extras by chance?"
The group looked up to see Yoarashi and Mora walk over.
"Sure," Izuku said, making two more and handing them over. "Can't make more than that, but it's crowded over there."
"Thank you very much," Mora said, opening his water bottle before nudging Yoarashi.
"Right, uh, thank you!" Yoarashi said, drinking his water.
Meanwhile, Mora looked at Kacchan. "By the way, they were playing some review footage-you were fighting our classmates Shishikura, right? Meatball quirk?"
Kacchan scoffed. "Yeah."
Mora bowed slightly. "I'm sorry about his behavior-I know that he can be rude at times, but we truly don't have any hostility towards UA."
"Sure, sweetheart," Kamari said through Izuku, making coffee and slowly drinking it while making eye contact with Yoarashi. "We'll believe it when we see it."
"Uh…did something happen?" Mora asked, glancing between the two. "Yoarashi, what did you-"
Yoarashi quickly bowed to Izuku. "I'm sorry about my behavior from earlier. I shouldn't have made assumptions and said what I said."
"...what happened?" Shoto immediately said, stepping forward to defend Izuku-
"Then prove it-we'll see you in the next stage!" Yui said before Izuku chugged the rest of the coffee and made the cup disappear before he slowly drank the water. "Hope you're ready for it."
"...seriously, did something happen?" Shoto asked.
Izuku looked at him. "I'll tell you on the bus."
"...ok," Shoto said, looking at Yoarashi and Mora. "We're looking forward to working with you in the next phase."
…sorry this part is short, but honestly, the rescue part wasn't as dramatic without Inasa doing his thing…
The examinees all stepped onto the field and began to spread out to find the HUC members.
True to his word, Shoto stuck close to Izuku, who also had his Sides exit the Mind Palace and span out to help others as well (but, as a precaution, Izuku had them stay close-Aizawa-sensei had said that they were allowed to roam around, but it still didn't hurt to have them close, and to have the younger ones mostly scouting and finding more members that needed help and assessing them as they could to make it easier.)
Shoto wasn't the best with comforting children, so he mostly left that to Izuku and Odin while he kept searching people out-in case it was a requirement, though, he tried his best to try to comfort some of them and find what they needed, like one child wanting their grandparents.
Of course, when Gang Orca appeared, Izuku and Shoto were right near him, so they were quick to fight him while more of Izuku's sides helped with the evacuation.
(Inasa was nearby, but he realized that adding his wind into the equation with Shoto's fire wasn't the best option, so he continued with the rescue efforts.)
It didn't feel like long before the second phase was called, and, of course, Izuku immediately asked Gang Orca for an autograph, something that the hero was quick to give him. After that, they were directed to the medical station and changed back into their school uniforms
And, finally, time for their results.
"Do you see your name?" Izuku asked as he looked at the board, scanning for his name-there it is! "I found mine!"
"Uh…it's not under…right, it would be under…there it is-we both passed," Shoto said.
Izuku beamed, bouncing on his heels. "Yes!"
"Huh?" Kacchan said, and Izuku looked up to see-
"You passed, too!" Izuku said, quickly looking over the list. "There's Hitoshi!"
"I think we all passed," Momo said.
"Woohoo!" Izuku said, giving her a high-five.
"Uh…hi."
The class turned to see Yoarashi and Mora.
"How'd you two do?" Izuku asked.
"We both passed-as for you?" Mora asked.
"Us as well!" Momo said.
"Nice job-can't wait to work on saving Japan with you someday," Mora said.
Izuku beamed, then held up his hand for a high-five, which Mora quickly gave him, then Izuku held out his hand to Yoarashi, who tensed up, but was quick to smile and give him one as well.
"Time to head the bus, 1-A!" Iida said.
The class nodded and began to head back to the bus, where Aizawa-sensei was waiting for them.
"Good job, 1-A," Aizawa-sensei said, holding a manila envelope before opening it and taking out some licenses. "When I call your name, come take your Provisional License-you all passed with flying colors."
The class eagerly got their licenses and loaded up their costumes before boarding the bus-
"Alright, I know that you're all excited, but listen up for just a few more minutes," Aizawa-sensei said.
Immediately, everyone went silent and looked at him.
"You have your provisional licenses and have permission to use them if absolutely necessary-in villain attacks, on upcoming internships, and situations like that," Aizawa-sensei said. "Under no circumstances are you to go looking for villains to fight or get involved in situations without permission. Understood?"
"Yes, sensei!" everyone said, then started to whisper-
"I'm not done," Aizawa-sensei said.
Everyone went silent again.
"There was an incident during the exam," Aizawa-sensei said. "We were told not to tell any students during the exam, but a member of the League of Villains showed up to the exam today."
There were gasps, but everyone otherwise stayed silent.
"It was Himiko Toga, the one with the quirk that let her turn into someone if she ingested their blood," Aizawa-sensei continued. "She was disguised as one of the Shiketsu High Students-Camie Utsushimi. Luckily for us, Midoriya turned off her quirk and was able to immediately get her to security-she is currently being detained and questioned in a high-security prison, likely to be transferred to Tartaros as soon as possible. No other known members were present today, and while I would have preferred if the exam had at least been delayed longer to investigate, it was decided to let the situation rest as is and continue." He paused. "As far as I'm aware, that's all that I need to address-when we get back to the dorms, we can order takeout food as a celebration-until then, don't bother me." With that, Aizawa-sensei sat down.
"Geez, you're a villain magnet, Izuku."
"You're telling me," Izuku groaned, face planting into the seat in front of him. "I don't want villains to be bugging me, but at least she got arrested. Besides, we all got our licenses-"
"What happened with Yoarashi?" Momo asked, giving him a concerned look. "That interaction didn't seem normal."
"I told him off," Izuku said.
"For what?" Shoto asked.
Izuku looked at him. "He insulted you…not gonna repeat what he said, but I basically said that with what he thought, I wouldn't trust him to save people. Glad to see he took it to heart."
"...was it really that bad?" Iida asked.
"Yes," Izuku said. "I still kinda want to punch him, but he got better by the end of the exam at least."
"...what did he say?" Shoto asked.
"Not gonna tell you," Izuku said.
"...fine," Shoto said, leaning against Izuku. "You win this time."
Izuku smiled at him.
…..
"I can't believe Toga got herself arrested-there's only five of us left!"
Tomura scowled as he glared at Twice, Spinner, Magne, and Mr. Compress-the only members left of the League of Villains, then he glared at the wall.
Sensei was dead, Kurogiri was arrested, Toga was arrested-most of their members were arrested, and this was all he was left with?! He still had Giran and the…Doctor.
Tomura didn't like thinking about the Doctor-sure, he was an important member in building the Nomu, but he made Tomura feel a little…uneasy. He always had, but Sensei had insisted that Tomura should trust the Doctor, but it was one of the few things Tomura wasn't sure about.
Tomura vaguely remembered being a child. He remembered his family here and there, two figures standing out the most, one barely older than him, the other appearing to be in her late teens. Tomura had always felt happy around the two, even if it had been a long time ago.
Then, one of them-the teen-had to leave. Then his quirk activated, and the other one died. Sensei picked him up from there-at first, Tomura had hated Sensei-and wasn't that a weird thought? That he ever had hated the man that stuck by his side through everything and helped him discover his quirk? But that's how it had been while Tomura had been young. After a few years of putting up with Tomura's…difficulty, Sensei had introduced him to the Doctor, stating that the Doctor needed to run some tests on him.
Well, Tomura's memories after that were much clearer, but he had a feeling that he lost some time after that, and something changed-well, a lot changed. Kurogiri was suddenly around after that visit, and the Nomu projects were started, despite Tomura never having heard about them before that. That wasn't so strange-after all, who would tell a child about human experimentation? But the heroes were different, too-ones that had Tomura had remembered debuting were suddenly about twenty years older than they should have been, and twenty years worth of new heroes around. It didn't take a complete genius to figure out what happened.
And part of Tomura, a small part that he only heard whisper in the very back of his mind, also understood that he was much more obedient after that Doctor's visit. That his memories from before were fuzzy, and suddenly, he was much more willing to cooperate with Sensei-this part didn't like the Doctor, either, but most of his mind agreed with that sentiment. Whatever had been done to him made him cooperate with Sensei, but it wasn't so focused on agreeing with the Doctor-just enough for him to work with him for more Nomus.
"Shigaraki."
"What?" Tomura snapped, looking up at Mr. Compress.
"You seem a little out of it-can't have our leader trailing off during an important meeting!" Mr. Compress said. "After all, we do have that meeting with the leader of the Shie Hassaikai that we had best be heading to!"
"...right," Tomura said, standing up. "Let's just get this over with."
…..
Aizawa rushed over to the 1-A dorms, Yamada and Kayama hot on his heels.
I can't believe…maybe he'll know…
Aizawa opened the front doors a little more aggressively than he should have, looking around the common room-1-A had asked to have a sleepover to celebrate getting their Provisional Licenses, so all of them were watching movies, but they immediately turned to see Aizawa standing there.
"Is something wrong?" Jirou asked, and everyone was immediately on edge.
Aizawa looked around the room and quickly looked at Midoriya, noting that the Sides were also sitting around as well.
"Midoriya's-I know that you just got your license, but you're needed for a mission-I'll explain on the way," Aizawa said.
Immediately, all the Sides disappeared, and Izuku got up and walked over, clearly worried.
"What about the rest of us-is it a villain attack?" Shinsou asked, standing up along with most of the class.
"No, not quite=I'll explain later," Aizawa said, looking at Izuku. "Come on, I'll tell you on the way."
"Is it about Toga?" Izuku asked as he quickly slipped on his shoes and followed the three teachers out. "She didn't escape, did she?"
"No, but this does have to do with the League," Aizawa said as the four speed-walked over to the parking lot.
"Then should everyone else be helping?" Izuku asked. "We all have our licenses-"
"It's about Kurogiri," Aizawa said. "They did some DNA testing to find out about how he was created-Tartarus called Nezu and stated that they want you there right away, and the three of us are being sent by Nezu."
"Why am I being sent there?" Izuku asked as they reached the parking lot-Yamada climbed into the driver's seat, Kayama into the passenger seat, and Izuku and Aizawa in the back as Yamada quickly started up the car.
"They found that he was built with quirks, but they found the…the corpse that he was built on," Aizawa said as Yamada started the car and started to drive. Aizawa made sure to look Izuku directly in the eye and opened his mouth to say the next part, but-
"It's Oboro, isn't it?" Izuku whispered.
The three adults immediately tensed up, but it wasn't long before Aizawa slowly nodded.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR SO LONG FOR THIS PART! AND NOW YOU MUST WAIT A LITTLE LONGER AND SUFFER WITH ME!
Don't worry, though, I'm hoping to get the next few chapters out soon-we're in the home stretch!
