I've been super into mischievous Aiden and Michelle lately, so this was a really fun one to write!
Aiden and Michelle: 3 years old
Room Crashers
"Pssst…Mommy!"
"Mmmm."
"Mommy, quit pretendin- to sleep!"
"-m not…"
"You're really s-eeping?"
"Mmhm."
"Nuh uh!"
Incredulous, the young boy climbed up into the bed and hovered over his mother before throwing himself on top of her, causing her to let out an aggrieved groan.
"Aiden, come on," Misty complained, squeezing her eyes shut even tighter. "It's too late for this."
"No is not."
Finally, and very reluctantly, Misty pried her eyes open and lifted her head just enough to look at the alarm clock on her nightstand. "It's past midnight."
"Das not late!"
"Yes it is, especially for a little boy like you."
Aiden didn't respond at first, but soon buried his face in the crook of his mother's shoulder and muttered something incoherent.
"What?" Misty sleepily prodded. "I can't hear you."
Picking his head up, Aiden repeated, "don- wanna go -n my room."
Misty sighed. She had a feeling that was where this was headed. Aiden was generally much better about sleeping in his own bed than his sister, but every once in a while, he wanted to be in his parents' bed instead. And the biggest difference between him and Michelle was that Aiden didn't necessarily like to be forthcoming about it. While Michelle had no problem coming into her parents' room and asking to stay there, Aiden, likely because he was so stubborn, had to have a whole buildup to him admitting his motive.
"You want to stay here?" Misty presumed, leading Aiden to nod his head. "Okay, you can. Just not on top of me."
Aiden giggled and rolled off his mother, settling into the middle of the bed. Misty knew she should've made the boy go back to his own room, but she was just too tired to fight with him about it.
And fortunately, it didn't take long for Aiden to fall asleep. As soon as he did, however, he began to sprawl himself out, and wound up smacking his father square in the face. Ash groaned and opened his eyes, crossing them in to find a small hand still resting above his nose.
"Why?" Ash groaned, trying to shake the boy's hand off without waking him up.
"He wanted to stay here," Misty groggily replied. "It wasn't worth it to say no."
"Easy for you to say," Ash whined, finally giving up and deciding to take his chances plucking Aiden's hand off of his face himself.
"He literally came in here and jumped on me," Misty deadpanned. "So, I would keep my mouth shut if I were you."
Ash wanted to remind Misty that the twins jumped on top of him all the time, but he wasn't looking to instigate a fight so late at night and thus kept the comment to himself. Instead, he decided to try and go back to sleep, which was certainly a lot easier without his son's hand on his face.
Before long, however, another weight could be felt on the bed, and Ash opened his eyes once again.
Through the dark, he locked in on his young daughter, who had been crawling up the bed. She froze as soon as she realized he was looking at her, however, and seemed to be contemplating whether or not she should say anything.
"What're you up to, princess?"
Michelle squeaked and sat back on her heels. "Umm…vis-ing."
"You're visiting?"
The girl nodded her head.
"This late at night?"
Michelle nodded again.
Ash smirked. "I think you're here for a little more than a visit."
"I stay?" Michelle squeaked, tilting her head.
Ash sighed. He knew he wasn't supposed to be letting Michelle stay there. But when he glanced down and looked at Aiden, he grimaced. Ash knew he couldn't possibly tell Michelle no when her brother was right there.
"Yeah, you can stay," Ash reluctantly agreed. "Come on, little girl."
Michelle beamed and crawled up to her father, curling herself against him. Ash smirked as she let out a contented sigh, finally closing his eyes again. That lasted for only a moment, however, as he slowly reopened them again, just to check on the twins. It seemed silly; there wasn't much they could've done in two minutes (at least, not while they were asleep…when they were awake, that was a different story) but it was more than just that. Sometimes, he just liked to look at them to make sure they were actually real.
And then his eyes shifted to Misty, who was fast asleep just like their young children. But then her own eyes fluttered open, as though she could feel Ash's gaze on her, and she flashed a tired smile.
"How come you're awake?" She murmured.
Chuckling, Ash nodded towards the twins and replied, "just looking at our cute little family, that's all."
"You don't think it's a little too late to be marveling at us?" Misty asked teasingly, rubbing at one of her eyes.
Ash shook his head. "It's never too late for that!"
Misty giggled softly and inched closer to Aiden, burying her nose in his unruly dark hair before reaching out and draping her arm over the twins' sleeping forms. Ash grinned and followed suit, gently brushing his fingers against Misty's upper arm. He continued stroking her soft skin until her eyes fluttered closed once more, the sweet smile still plastered on her face. Once he was sure Misty was back asleep, and the twins were still out like lights, Ash was able to drift off to sleep himself, not at all bothered by the fact that his and Misty's bed was twice as full as it normally was.
If anything, that only made things better.
Ash and Misty's bedroom is basically a hangout spot for the twins, lol. After all, their BIG bed is so much cooler than Aiden and Michelle's little ones!
