Happy Halloween! It's just wrapping up where I am, and I had a super fun day! My favorite part of Halloween is actually dressing up, so I put that to good use in this story. I think I've used this theme before, but this one is from a different angle. More preparing for the day than actually going out.
Sometimes I think that's the best part!
A Pair of Pichu
"Okay, this might be the cutest thing I've ever seen."
"Yeah, I'd have to agree with you!"
Ash and Misty were both beaming at their young twins, who seemed a little confused by the attention. Both were dressed in identical fluffy yellow one pieces, hoods pulled over their heads with a pair of big ears sitting upright atop each one.
"Pichu really was the perfect costume idea!" Misty giggled, pressing her hands against her cheek. "Aiden and Michelle look so adorable!"
"And super twin-ish, too," Ash agreed with a chuckle.
The only difference between the two's costumes, in fact, was a decently sized pink bow affixed to the front of Michelle's right, costumed ear. Aside from that, both sported black tipped ears, round pink cheek markings, and black pointed collar that were so synonymous with the baby Pokémon. When Aiden pushed himself onto his hands and knees to crawl around, a small black, angular tail affixed to the back of the costume came into view, and it got his parents giggling all over again.
"Look at my little Pichu go," Misty cooed through her mirth. "I think he knows quick attack!"
Ash furrowed his brow in thought. "But Pichu can't learn quick attack."
Misty sighed and playfully flicked Ash's cheek. "It was a joke, Mr. Pokémon Master."
Pikachu, having heard the name of one of his attacks, squeezed himself between Ash and Misty. "Chu!"
Misty giggled and reached down to pat the mouse on his head. "Yeah, you can use quick attack!"
"I think it's gonna be really fun to take them trick or treating," Ash mused. "Even if they have no idea what's going on, at least they'll look cute doing it! Not to mention the fact they'll probably score you and I lots of candy."
Misty smirked at her husband. "Really? Using our babies for free candy?"
"Well, it's not like they can eat it themselves…" Ash sheepishly replied, rubbing the back of his neck as he turned away from Misty.
"No, they can't," Misty agreed. "But I think you and I will do perfectly fine getting candy with our own costumes!"
Ash slowly turned his gaze back onto his wife. "What do you mean our costumes?"
"Come on, how are we supposed to celebrate the twins' first Halloween without a family costume?" Misty cried. "That would be such a wasted opportunity! Especially with such a cute theme."
"Theme?" Ash repeated, raising an eyebrow.
Hustling over to a nearby shopping bag, Misty pulled out a few items and tossed them Ash's way. He yelped and just managed to catch them, furrowing his brow as he sifted through the items. A yellow shirt, yellow pants, a yellow baseball cap with a very familiar looking set of ears on top…
"Am I gonna be Pikachu?" Ash surmised, slowly looking up from the clothing.
"Yep!" Misty confirmed. "But don't worry, I'm going to be one too! And look!" She reached into the bag once again, standing back up with two plush tails: one angular, and one with a heart-like shape. "Isn't that cute?"
"It is pretty cute," Ash conceded, smiling sweetly at her. "Alright, this whole family costume thing seems kind of fun!"
"And I didn't forget about the Pokémon either," Misty added, grabbing the final few pieces from the bag, which included a pair of large brown and yellow ears with curls at the bottom. "Pikachu decided if you and I were going to be dressed like him, then he wanted to be a Raichu!"
"Raichu, huh?" Ash chuckled, glancing down at his amused partner Pokémon.
"Pi-ka!" Pikachu confirmed, proudly nodding his head.
"He might not want to evolve and be a real Raichu, but he's okay pretending to be one," Misty giggled.
"Pi-ka-chu!" Pikachu growled, doing his best impression of his evolved form.
The twins laughed at the impersonation; they loved it whenever Pikachu pretended to be other Pokémon. Knowing how much it entertained the two, Pikachu hopped around to face them and amplified the act, which only caused the twins to laugh harder.
"Pikachu is a regular comedian to those two," Ash chuckled. "I bet him wearing the actual costume will be the funniest thing they've ever seen! So, what about Vaporeon? Is she going to be a Raichu also?"
Misty showed off a sideways smile as she shook her head. "No. I offered, but she turned her nose up at the idea…literally. I mean, I guess it doesn't make a whole lot of sense; she really doesn't look anything like a Raichu, or even Pikachu. So, I decided she could be Jolteon! Still an electric type, at least."
Ash smirked and raised an eyebrow. "Does Vaporeon know that?"
Misty cleared her throat before repeating, "no."
When she failed to elaborate, Ash snickered again. "Do you plan on telling her?"
"Yeah, of course!" Misty scoffed before letting her confident façade fall. "…probably on Halloween."
This time, Ash burst out laughing. "Your partner is just as stubborn as you are!"
"Kaaa!"
Misty looked over her shoulder, finding Pikachu standing on his tippy toes and trying to look as big and menacing to the twins as he possibly could. It didn't seem to be doing much, however, as they were both still giggling their heads off.
"And your partner is just as goofy as you are," Misty replied, turning back towards Ash with a playful smirk.
"I'll take that as a compliment!" Ash boasted. "It just means we both know how to have fun."
"Ah!"
"Hee!"
"Pi-ka!"
Ash and Misty both spun around as soon as they heard Pikachu's alarmed cry. It appeared that the twins had gotten a little too excited from all of the Pokémon's entertaining and were now trying to pounce on the startled electric type.
"Aiden! Michelle! No!" Misty scolded, scurrying over to stop the babies. "We don't play rough like that!"
Hearing that phrase, Ash's eyes lit up. "Hey, play rough! Now that's a move Pichu can learn!"
"Pikapi!"
"Ash Ketchum, if you don't help me get these two off of Pikachu -!"
The man blushed furiously and joined his wife. "Oh, right! Sorry! Guess we also have to teach them the difference between tricks and treats…and that treats are a whole lot better."
Pikachu loves to play with the twins and show them a good time, but sometimes he forgets that things can get crazy if he gets them a little too riled up.
Don't worry, it only gets worse once they can actually eat the candy! ;)
