New World VII - The Kaburagi Past is Tough for a Mob
12/13/2018 Train to Yasoba, Japan Daytime - Clear Sky
First Person POV
The sun was out. I was seen looking at my phone on my right hand to kill some time. Of course, there was me… and Tomoko… We were alone on this train car. But I decided to leave my sword back at my room within the living quarters. It's unnecessary for me but I believe this is the right choice. Konbei was on my lap as I was seen petting it with my left hand. However, Tomoko was sitting at the opposite side as she looked outside of the peaceful rural lands here. We both remained quiet as usual as the train continued to move. Besides, I was given approval by Alexandra that I was allowed to return back to my hometown since I wanted a temporary vacation.
[Flashback - The Permission to Return]
I remember the flashback where me and Tomoko had talks with Alexandra at her office. Of course, I explained to her that my reason to come back to Yasoba is simple… To reconcile with my father and reunite with my sister. Of course, Alexandra wanted to know my reason.
"Alexandra… I understand you want to ask why but… I want to spend time with my family there and try to reconnect with them. Hopefully, fix up the damage that was left unrepaired." I explained to Alexandra as she seemingly nodded.
"Okay? That is reasonable. But why do you want to follow him, Anabuki? You're part of the main unit." Alexandra asked her as she spoke.
"I… I want to try meeting them. I mean… he's my Slave so I want to have a talk with his father and sister. Is… that enough?" Tomoko asked as she sighs.
"Alright… I'll allow it. Keiwa Kaburagi, I will allow you to visit your hometown of Yasoba for three days. Do we have an understanding?" Alexandra said as we stood up and bowed at her.
"Thank you, Alexandra-san. We understand. We will leave tomorrow morning." I said to her as my flashback ended.
[Flashback End]
My mind snaps back to reality where I noticed Ursula Hartmann's RikRok profile as her first video shows her education of how the new Striker Arms work. Good on her, I guess. Then, I looked at the news on my screen where Karlsland, France, and Finland are putting in efforts in destroying the Neuroi Hive in Verdansk but it was not enough. I guess that's been going on for a while, huh? So, I decided to turn off my phone and look at the fine scenery here in the rural area. I mean, I am a country bumpkin. Living in the big city is different and all but all I can say… is that I can feel the nostalgia within me. Oto-san… Makomo-san… I'm coming home…
OPENING - The Peak by SEKAI NO OWARI [Dave Does Music ENG Cover Ver.] (One Piece)
*Theme plays*
The theme starts with the scene as it shows Keiwa who was seen standing on the airstrip of the 503rd JFW base as the sun begins to rise in the morning as Konbei was with him as the breeze blows through the air.
Taking in the weakness as my ally
Will get me higher than anyone could think to fly
Can't linger here because whatever's lost
Cannot regain their spark, you've got to be strong, you must move on
But there are times when I just cannot find you
Just like my heart, you drift into the darkness of the night
Can feel your kindness or your strength no more
So what to do, still gotta find you, and bring back the light
The scene starts to show Yoshika Miyafuji and Hattori Shizuka as they were walking down the streets of Yokosuka's market as Ichigo Kazuraba was leading them there. Next starts to show Alain Lebled and Perrine Clostermann as they were seen inside the office as Lynette Bishop was providing them tea as Perrine looked outside of the window. Next scene then shows Francesca Lucchini was seen happily walking down the streets in Venice with the Ardor Witches' Red Pants Units. Next then shows Matt and Shirley who were seen in the hangar as they were repairing the P-51D Mustang back at their base. Then next shows Aulis Juutilainen who was seen with Eila as they were helping the civilians in dealing with the blizzard in Helsinki. Next shows Sanya Litvyak who was seen flying alone in the night under the moonlight. Next shows Gertrud who was seen drinking coffee to look outside the window with Jered to see Hanna chasing down Erica as Gertrud sighed and Jered laughed. Then the next scene shows Minna walking with Richard as she was holding Ann while she was holding Klaus' hand as they were walking down the streets of Vienna.
And now I'm sure, I know
The break of dawn is where I'll go
Then the next scene shows Keiwa who was seen drowning underwater until Adolfine and Tomoko were seen diving to reach his hands. Keiwa then opened his eyes as he would proceed to take their hands as it shows the split second of the antagonists of Princess Shino, Zachery Goose, and Chris Keera.
For the highest point is what I will seek
Running through, never stopping on the way to The Peak, yeah
Even though you're numb, you can't help but laugh
'cause it looks like all the pain you felt before is in the past, it seems
Here I stand I'm ready to face the world
Doesn't matter if my legs are quivering, my flag's unfurled, yeah
I'll keep on going, just a little bit more
'cause the moment of awakening, I feel it in my core, right now
The next scene shows Keiwa with Konbei enhancing him as he drew out his katana as he was wrapped in electricity as he falls down from the sky as he pierced through the Neuroi as the core was destroyed as the Witches saw the Neuroi shattering in white flakes. Then the next scene shows Takami Karibuchi flying freely with her Striker Arm as Jane Thatch, Mie Shindou, and Tendou Karibuchi watched her soar. Next shows Tomoko taking part in the film as she was doing stunts. Then the next scene shows Aurora pulling the large wagon as Keiwa, Eihn, and Mio were on it. Then the next scene shows Mio within the middle of the forest as she swings her katana in her stance as she slashes the tree in half. Then the next scene shows Aurora firing her tank cannon from her shoulder as Eihn jumps over her as he slams down his tower shield to create spikes of ice. Then the next scene shows the Typhoon Witches flying through the sky as the view zooms out to show them leaving a cloud on contrails from a far. Then the next scene shows Lukas piloting the Bf-110 G-4 with Heidemarie in the passenger seat as she powers the plane with her magic, soaring through the night sky of Calw. Then the next scene shows Adolfine standing on the top of the Tokyo Skyscraper to look at the view. Then it shows the next scene of Luminous Witches soaring through the blue skies. Then it switches to the scene with everyone present including the 501st Witches as they would join Keiwa as they would stand to join together to see the sunrise. Of course, in front of them is a parallel reflection as it shows the 501st Witches from the previous world looking at them as it created a split screen until the screen transitions to show scenes of the past of the 501st's efforts in liberating Gallia, Venezia, and Berlin along with the character's ambitions as it zooms out from Keiwa's eyes they all looked up at the sky.
It's the time of resurrection, yeah I feel it in my core, right now
And then, the scene transitions shows Keiwa waking up back in his room as he got off his bed as he called Konbei to rest on his neck like a scarf as he would have a smile the moment he leaves as it ends with the picture frame on the table that shows Keiwa, Adolfine, Tomoko, Mio, Aurora, Eihn, and Alexandra along with the Typhoon Witches together at the airbase.
12/13/2018 Yasoba Train Station, Yasoba, Japan Daytime - Clear Sky
"Now arriving at Yasoba. Now arriving at Yasoba. Thank you for taking this line." The announcer in the train spoke the moment we both headed outside and out of the train station. The moment we set foot here…
Background Music | Persona 4 OST - New Days
"It feels good to be back…" I said to myself as I saw what's in front of me… Yasoba Town.
Home to the famous Yuugi Hot Springs Inn and the Shinazawa Mountain Shrine. Of course, we were in the small country town… My home is somewhere within the farmland area outside from the small town so I knew the lays of the land quite well. After all, I was born and raised here. This town has a hospital, schools, market places, river bed… you name it. Hell, there's even a supermarket store called Tanakas. And yeah, I lived quite a good life here until I moved to Tokyo to start a new life. Again, it feels great to be back here… I looked at Tomoko who was surprised that I lived in a quiet but normal town.
"So this is Yasoba…" Tomoko continued. "I never knew you lived in a rural town such as this."
"I mean, yeah. That's the whole point." I continued. "I'm glad you made the right choice to leave your katana and your strikers behind. I'll be honest… Yasoba has zero Witches here. So the people here are pretty much oblivious of what's happening even though Witches are part of the society now."
"So… you're telling me not to use my magic in front of them?" Tomoko asked me.
"Pretty much." I said to her as I looked at the blue skies and clouds moving through the blue atmosphere. "They'd freak out pretty easily."
"I… see…" Tomoko replied as I looked at her.
"Alright, it's time that I'd introduce you to my family. So follow me, I know where it is." I said to her as she would stick close to me the moment we would walk our way back to my home where I lived. I'm sure both my father and sister of mine are still living there as of today.
Kaburagi Residence, Yasoba, Japan Daytime - Clear Sky
As we finally arrived from all the walking here in Yasoba… we finally made it here by passing through the Sanageyama Flood Plains through a bridge as me and Tomoko arrived at a simple, traditional home with two floors. Next to it was a small warehouse that contained farming tools. I can tell my father's been really busy since I was away doing my job at the Typhoon Coffin Platoon. Of course, we've… been staring at the door for a minute.
"So uhh… this is your home?" Tomoko asked me as I continued to look in front of my view.
"Yeah." I replied.
"Are you… nervous?" Tomoko asked.
"A bit." I said as I tried to maintain my composure.
"Are you going to do it then?" Tomoko said again.
"Y-Yeah… Here I go…" I said to her the moment I proceeded to maintain my composure. So, I pressed the buzzer on the side of the door…
[BZZZZZT!]
After I pressed it, I lowered my arms as we kept waiting… Suddenly, he heard the steps coming closer…
"Right, right… I'm coming!" The voice of a voice whom I'm familiar with… Then, the door slid open after it was unlocked. There he was… He's gotten a bit older as he had black hair, trimmed beard, and wore a t-shirt and shorts as well. Yup… he's definitely my father… Ryoma Kaburagi. "K-Keiwa…? Is… that you?"
"Hey, Oto-san… It's been a while." I greeted my father with a smile the moment he was surprised.
"Y-Yeah… I never knew you'd decided to come back here to Yasoba and…" Ryoma said until he looked at Tomoko. "Is… this your girlfriend?"
"I-I'm not his girlfriend…" Tomoko blushed as she continued while looking away a bit. "B-Besides… I have my own boyfriend back in Tokyo…"
"Ahh… Sorry about that. Didn't mean to pry but…" Ryoma then looked back at me. "I'm just surprised that we'd get to see each other again."
"Yeah. I mean… I've been busy as of late." I continued. "Well, back in Shousetsu, of course."
"Shousetsu, huh? Moved from the big city to a port city… Ahem… Anyways, how about coming inside, you two? Surely you've been hungry after coming along the way here." Ryoma then offered us to enter inside as we both did so.
Background Music | Persona 4 OST - Signs of Love
As we entered the residence that I used to live in, never would I think that my father would cook something using the food that he gathered from his farm. I gotta respect that for putting in the work. And it does look pretty good. Of course, me, Tomoko, and Ryoma were in our seats at the table as we would eat together. As we were simply eating our food… I begin to remember those memories. It was taking me back… Instead of Tomoko… My younger sister Makomo was in her place as Ryoma is still there. However… my mother… Kazumi… She was there, too. As if both my parents were happily conversing with each other as we were simply watching as we had our food on the table. Plus… Ryoma was a bit young but older at the time. It feels truly nostalgic as my mind snaps back into reality. I realized something on my face… am I shedding a tear? What was this feeling…
"Keiwa. Are you okay…?" Ryoma asked me as I noticed, wiping off the tears of my face.
"N-Nothing." I quickly replied as Tomoko felt a little concerned as she looked at me while we continued eating. I wanted to reconcile with my father but… I'm not sure if I'm ready. "So, Oto-san… How is Makomo-chan doing?"
"Your sister's doing fine. In case you haven't heard. She became 14 years old two months ago while you were in the big city." Ryoma continued. "And on top of that, she's becoming one of the top classes in archery. You could have seen her pinpoint accuracy from far range."
"Is that so?" I continued with a small smile. "I'm proud of her even though I left home… I can tell she missed me a lot… right?"
"I can definitely tell by that." Ryoma said with a chuckle. "But still, she'll be surprised the moment that you came home to us. I can tell that she's already heading some as I speak."
"You have a sister?" Tomoko asked me as I nodded.
"Yeah. Her name is Makomo Kaburagi. She's my younger sister. I pretty much acted as her big brother. Wait no… I mean… I am always looking after my sister because I need to protect her… But I guess times have changed to the point where she can protect on her own." I sighed. "But perhaps… she can live peacefully with Oto-san without me around."
"I'm home, Oto-san." Suddenly, we heard the voice after the door was opened and closed the moment she came inside… Of course… father would take notice.
"Ahh, welcome home, Makomo. You're not the only person here. Your brother's come to visit you since he's home with us." Ryoma then mentioned me as my sister took notice.
"Onii-chan? He's home!?" The voice of Makomo rushed into the main living room where we finally met eye to eye… She has black long hair and brown eyes like our mother… No doubt that's my sister. "Onii-chan!~ You're actually home!"
Makomo rushed me with a hug as she was stoked to see me again. Of course… I chuckled and hugged her back.
"Hey there, Makomo-chan." I said to her happily. "I heard you've been improving as Oto-san mentioned about you."
"Geez… Oto-san! Do you really have to spoil the surprise!? I wanna do that myself!" Makomo then pouted at our father as he chuckled.
"Sorry, sorry… I'll leave it to you next time but no promises. After all, I tend to let my tongue slip most of the time. Ahahaha!" Ryoma chuckled as he scratched the back of his head casually. Of course… my sister still pouts at him. Then, she looked back at me.
"Say, how was moving into the big city? Did you enjoy it? What was life there?" Tomoko asked me so many questions until… "And who's she? Your friend?"
"Y-Yeah… she's more like my acquaintance. Makomo-chan. Meet Tomoko Anabuki." I decided to introduce Tomoko to my younger sister. Of course, she, too, is being nice.
"Good day, Makomo-chan. It's a pleasure to meet you." Tomoko greeted her with a smile.
"A-Ahh. Good to meet you as well, Tomoko-san." Makomo replied. "Say, Onii-chan. Why'd you come back to Yasoba?"
"Well… I wanted to reconnect with you two since I've been away for a long time. I kinda feel bad for myself so… I decided to make things right." I continued as I finished up my food. "I'll be staying here for a few days. I can tell Oto-san may need my help on his farm. However… as your older brother… Have you been studying?"
"O-Of course I did! I've been studying very vigorously! So you know me!~" Makomo said with confidence.
"Well, best keep that up. After all, you need to ensure that you have a good focus and knowledge. As for your archery… Are you really the top class right now?" I asked her as she happily nodded.
"Yup! I'm pretty much better than Ayaka-senpai now so I beated her fair and square!" Makomo pridefully announced as I chuckled.
"That's good to hear." I said to her as Ryoma spoke in.
"Anyways… Dinners on the table, Makomo-chan. Best eat up before you can do something later." Ryoma said as he finished his food. "As for me… I'll be continuing back on my farm soon. You want to help, Keiwa?"
"Sure thing. I'll help you out now that I've returned. Tomoko-san. Do you mind look after my sister for me?" I asked her as she nodded.
"Leave it to me, Keiwa-kun." Tomoko replied with a kind smile.
"Thank you." I continued. "Well, I'll be off with Oto-san now."
Background Music | Persona 5 OST - Suspicion
Third Person POV
As Ryoma and Keiwa left the house to begin the farming process… Tomoko simply watched Makomo eating her food. Though, it felt like she lived a carefree life.
"Hey, Tomoko-san." Makomo asked her. "What do you do in life?"
"M-Me? W-Well… I take part in films…?" Tomoko replied as this atonishes her.
"Really!? Are you like… famous!?" Makomo asked her with sparkles in her eyes.
"Sort of…" Tomoko had an awkward chuckle while maintaining her smile as Keiwa's sister was stoked.
"That's really amazing!" Makomo continued. "You should be happy with your life, Tomoko-san! No matter what!"
"Thank you, Makomo… You're too kind." Tomoko replied as Makomo happily nodded as she would proceed with her routine as usual.
"Ojou-sama." Konbei asked Tomoko within her mind. Of course, she would do the same.
"What is it, Konbei? Something wrong?" Tomoko replied back in her mind.
"I sense something coming from Keiwa-sama's sister…" Konbei said to her as this raised her brow as she watched her eat food.
"What do you mean by that…?" Tomoko asked.
"I can feel it… her magical energy…" Konbei continued with concern. "Keiwa-sama is unaware that her sister is definitely…"
"You sure? If you really think so… Then perhaps… It's best for Kiewa-kun to find out. Best we don't have ourselves involved, okay?" Tomoko informed her familiar.
"…Understood, Ojou-sama." Konbei replied as he fell silent. Now that Tomoko is aware. She could feel something emanating from her but… perhaps it's best for Keiwa to find out for himself.

First Person POV
Background Music | Persona 5 Tactica OST - Beneath the Mask - Tactica
[SHIK!]
The sound of a sickle slicing through the root as my father tossed a fresh cabbage into the basket with a backpack strap. Of course, I was helping him doing the same thing as I recounted my experience in helping him. Right… after my mother… Kazumi's death… I just ended up wanting to help Ryoma with the vegetables in order to do something in life here in Yasoba. I cut the roots, tossing them into the basket. Cut, toss, cut, toss, cut… toss… rinse and repeat. Besides, I need to take it slow and steady so I don't tire myself out. To be honest here… It's reminding me of the old time again. Helping my father with stuff like these. We'd continue them for an hour until we're finished. Plus, he even has me regrow the seeds again until they're ripe for the taking. Since it's December… and my birthday is tomorrow. My father fears about the snow coming. It'll put a stop on farming but does he ever complain? Or just… I don't know…
"And done…" I said the moment I tossed another cabbage into the basket. "Oto-san? I think that's the last of the cabbages?"
"Good, we'll head on over to the next. Come with me. We'll pick the carrots." Ryoma said as we picked up the baskets as he carried it over our backs as we continued walking to the carrot farm area where he had it ready. A small patch, though. But still, it's grown pretty good. Ryoma then proceeded to grab the top and pulled it out with all of his strength. The moment I looked at it… "Hmm… looks good. Alright, help me out here."
"You got it." I replied as I proceeded to pull it out as I tossed it into the basket as my father did the same. But something has been bothering me… Why haven't I been able to speak to him about something… Something about Kazumi… our mother. If I speak to him now… How will he react? Will he ignore it? Resent me? I don't know… Perhaps I should do it… Yeah… I need to tell him about my mother. "Hey, Oto-san?"
"What is it?" Ryoma asked me as he continued working as usual.
"I… I was wondering about that time… You know… about Oka-san?" I said to him as he seemingly ignored it as if he didn't hear me. I can tell he's aware but… he just continues working. I was saddened but… I continued. "About Kazumi…"
That is until his hand stopped the moment he was about to grab the carrot top… Of course… I saw his lips… he frowned a bit…
"Can… Can we not go there, Keiwa?" Ryoma said to me as I kept my mouth shut as I saw his expression… a sign of grief…
"Sorry…" I apologized to him. "I'll… get back to work."
We both continued. Of course… Ryoma felt mental pain the moment I mentioned my mother's name. It seems like he knew. Yet, he doesn't want to explain it to me… Am I really trying to reconcile with him? Am I trying to apologize after what happened the night when our mother died? I wanted to fix this… I killed an intruder when I was 12… I did it out of protection… or worse… revenge… Losing a mother can hurt your heart. It does. And I'll be honest… It still pains me as of today. Even though I tried to avoid it… those dreams like this still come back. No matter what, I'll always be reminded. Honestly… I kinda feel bad that I had to ask my father about it. He really doesn't want me to mention her name ever again… I can understand why he had to mend his own pain. Of what it feels like to lose the ones you love? Again, I never wanted to strike the nerve. I… I guess it's best for me to shut up and focus.
"Keiwa. We're done with the carrots. Let's head back to the food storage room. Need to keep them fresh, after all." Ryoma said to me as he packed up the basket as he went.
"R-Right. On it." I said to him as I did the same thing. This process is going to take a long time to finish and replant, sure.
But that's not the point… Ryoma doesn't want to talk about anything that is related to our mother. The death still haunts him based on my assumptions. I… I still need answers. Why is he hiding it from me…? I don't get it… Do I feel bad for bringing it up? Or is it that I'm just too scared to do it again… This weakness will continue to grip me tight. There's no way for him to answer the reason… He's like a stone wall that won't be budged… Well, whatever… I'll figure out what's next. And since tomorrow's my birthday… is my father and sister aware about it? I don't know… still… I really don't know… Just what am I going to do now…?
Background Music | Persona 5 OST - Alright (Elp Version)
As time passes again into the night… Tomoko was given a guest bedroom since she might be sleeping right now. So does my father and Makomo. And here? I find myself back in this same ol' room. Resting on my favorite bed. Yeah… it does feel nostalgic. I even have the Yumecast console with the old square TV from the late 90s. Even the games I own there as well. I'm talking about Wild Taxi, Brave Star Online Nova Burst, Swift Grind Stereo… Hell! Out of all Yumecast games I like the most? Mine has gotta be Brave Star Online. Because AGES had a really cool functioning internet feature where you can play with random people online and take on missions together. I remember having a Level 100 Hunter character with the best gear I ever have. Sadly, I didn't have friends to play with nor did I have the internet at the time… I pretty much played offline for a total of 300 hours there during my time at school. But times changed… AGES stopped making consoles a long time ago but still makes games to this day. The biggest game they're working on right now is both Yakuza's Dragon Infinite Splendor and Needlemouse Rangers. I know there's the new Brave Star Online 2 version called New Age that is out this year but I don't even have time to play it because of Alexandra becoming such a slave driver she is… God, I hope she's not listening in right now…
"Keiwa-sama? Are you free to talk at this moment?" The voice of Konbei spoke as he appeared out of my body as he sat on my chest as I looked at him.
"Hmm? I guess I am. What is it? Something wrong?" I asked him.
"Not really. But I did overhear your conversation with your father Ryoma regarding your mother named Kazumi, is it not?" Konbei asked as he overheard our talks… Man… Tomoko's familiar is really something.
"Yeah…" I continued. "I tried to talk to him about it but… He doesn't like having wounds like these opening up."
"Is that so?" Konbei continued. "You really do cherish your mother alot, do you?"
"I do… She was the kindest of all. And even loved us. Both me and Makomo." I continued as I sighed. "Of course… I'll always remember this pain. Losing a mother can hurt a lot. Could take a toll on the mental health side of things."
"I understand how you feel. While I do feel concerned that you're holding yourself back on reconciling your father. I assume it's not going to be easy?" Konbei asked.
"…Yup." I replied with a sigh. "Look, I'm only staying for three days and that's it. I'm glad Makomo still remembers me and she's still the same as I remember."
"Ahh, right… your sister…" Konbei said as I took notice.
"Hmm?" I looked at him.
"Forget what I said, Keiwa-sama. You'll understand soon enough." Konbei said to me as I felt skeptical of it.
"If you say so…?" I continued as I realized. "Oh! Since you're here with me… How about you want to sleep on my bed? I need some… comfort. If you're okay with it. It ain't easy for me to be alone here in my room."
"Do I have to…?" Konbei sighed. "Very well, then… I suppose I will provide you comfort if you need it."
"Thanks, bud." I said to him as I gave him neck rubs as he enjoys it. "Anyways, I need to sleep. Night, Konbei…"
"You too, Keiwa-sama…" Konbei replied back to me as he would yawn and stretch his back as he would curl up and sleep on top of my stomach. I chuckled to myself to see him do that. So, I decided to close my eyes and go to sleep… Hopefully… I just hope that I can press him for answers if possible…
[THE NEXT DAY - 12/14/2018]
[Morning - Light Snow]
It was the next day… I was seen awake where Konbei was still sleeping on my bed. As for me… I wanted to see if my Yumecast console is working. And surprise…! It works! And not only that, I'm also playing Brave Star Online… But I'm playing it offline. On the TV Screen… I took part in a high rank mission where I needed to slay an Admandant Geobear. Of course, I killed it numerous times back in the past. But it feels great playing this game again. Slashing my way through the groups of enemies who were trying to impede my progress. Look, I know. The game is old. That's the point. But I knew exactly the controls of how to play Hunter. Using oversized photon greatswords is truly something. My character manages to reach the boss area where the Geobear awaits me.
"There you are, Geobear… It's been way too long for my return…" I said to myself with a smirk on my face as I had my legs crossed on the floor. "Allow me to show you that my skills haven't rusted."
[SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! DODGE! SLASH!]
I lightly mashed the button to perform many slashes to deal serious crit damage until I dodged it and continued attacking. I knew his attack patterns so I'm pretty much aware of what to do. And with many continuous attacks… I managed to defeat the once called tanky boss… is no more again.
"Good times…" I said to myself. So, I decided to log off the game and turn off the console as the tv turns off. Suddenly, I heard the door knocking as someone came in the moment I stood up… It was Tomoko… "Oh, morning Tomoko-san."
"Good morning as well." Tomoko said as she came into my room. "So… is this your room? And what is this you were doing?"
"Oh, that?" I continued. "That's the Yumecast console. It was AGES' last console line until they left the console industries and continued to work on games."
"I… I see… I'll pretend that I understood that… Despite this, I know nothing about your world's modern technology such as this. However…" Tomoko said as her eyes shifted at Konbei. "You were sleeping, Konbei?"
"I was Ojou-sama." Konbei continued. "He asked me to sleep on his bed and I did. But I must say… it feels refreshing for once rather than remaining in either of your bodies."
"Uh huh… now get back inside me already." Tomoko didn't care as Konbei nodded without questioning. So, he magically jumps into her body and disappears. "Keiwa-san. It's currently snowing right now. And your father's farm is impeded because of this."
"It's alright. He can pretty much wait as much as he wants until the snows over… for whatever how long." I continued. "Oh yeah. Since you're new here in Yasoba… How about I take you to the Shinazawa Mountain Shrine today? It's not much of a tourist hot spot but… people barely go there anymore these days. But if I recall… Konbei is a shrine fox, right? Would be fitting if we could take him there, too."
"Ahh, yes. You mentioned the shrine… so I'd be down to visit there. You know where it is?" Tomoko asked me.
"Yeah. It's behind our home. It has a path that leads us into the mountain path where the shrine is located within the trees. Foxes live there as if it's their territory. But don't worry about them, they're pretty tame when I first met them when my mother took me there as a kid. So perhaps they'll remember me since I've grown up… Wanna get going?" I asked her as she nodded.
"I'd like to, Keiwa-kun." Tomoko said as we were about to leave… We suddenly heard voices from the outside.
"As I said before… I'm not giving you money to you ruffians…" The voice of Ryoma said in a defensive voice.
"Now, now. Don't be so arrogant, old man. This is merely a simple task. We own this land. That includes your farm." The voice of a young man spoke spat as the two of us steeled ourselves the moment we headed downstairs and reached outside of our home. Of course, Ryoma and Makomo were there…
Background Music | Persona 5 OST - Blood of Villian
"Oto-san!" I called out to him. "Who're these guys?"
"Keiwa… let me handle this. There's just a bunch of brats thinking they run Yasoba…" Ryoma said to me as the ruffian began to chuckle.
"Ahahaha… Calling us 'brats' feels like an insult, y'know." The ruffian continued as he had blonde short hair, black unzipped jacket and black pants as he wielded an aluminum baseball bat. "You offered us money for our protection against these rival gangs we've been dealing with once. And we simply ask you to pay us again if you want to protect your little farms if you wanna keep your family alive, do ya?"
"I… I do…" Ryoma said as he tightened his fists.
"The fuckin' pay up, yo!" The ruffian spat. "We don't have all day if you're going to waste our goddamn time! So have heart and give us your money already-"
"I told you again… No." Ryoma continued. "So get out of our territory. Or else I'll call the cops on you."
"Oooh, you hear that guys? He's gonna call the cops on us!~" The ruffian continued as he had a shit-eating grin on his face. "You think you're the adult here? Face it, old man. We're the ones in charge here this shithole of a town.
Second Ruffian: "He's right, y'know? Your farm got thrashed by our rival gang before. You don't want your farm to be ruined, do you?"
"Hmph… I'll just rebuild it again." Ryoma said as the ruffians began to laugh.
"Ahahahaha! Holy shit, dude! That's like, so hilarious! Like we don't give a shit or two!" The ruffian continued. "But I'm dead serious… pay up… or you know what's going to happen, right? We're the peacekeepers, after all."
"Hmph. Do your worst. I don't care if you want to destroy my farm…" Ryoma stood his ground as the three of us watched. The ruffian sighed in disappointment.
"You see… you, my good sir… picked the wrong choice…" The ruffian then walked up to approach my father. "Which is what I'll be doing… THIS!"
[TWACK! CRACK!]
Ryoma was hit by the side of his left leg as he felt a bone crack as he kneeled on his floor, wincing in pain.
"G-Grr… Damn…" Ryoma cursed.
"Oto-san!" Me and Makomo shouted at him the moment I rushed up to him as I checked his leg. "Your leg is bruised. And worst of all, a sprain… You need to see a doctor!"
"D-Don't worry… I can stand up- Ergh…!" Ryoma tries to shrug it off when he tries to stand up but the pain still hurts him from the sprain.
"You should listen to that guy for once. A doctor could prolly head up your legs. Who knows it'll take how long. So let me say-" I interrupted the ruffian as I gritted my teeth.
"That's enough…" I said with hostility the moment I stood up. "How dare you toy the lives of the people here in this town… You call yourselves peacekeepers and yet you threaten them with bribery, stealing money from innocents yet they owe you nothing! Gang wars in my town? The police should handle it themselves! But you just can't go around, showing yourselves to hurt people… and my father, too!"
"And who are you to judge, you shit stain?" The ruffian spat as he was visibly angry with a bat over his shoulder. "This town's been having a gang war between us, the Peacekeepers and the Onizukas for five damn years. We've driven them back all thanks to my leadership to the point they've lost the will to fight. But just recently, the Onizukas are rising from the shadows to take over our territory one by one with none of their goons hurt."
"Does it matter?" I continued. "I would've been better if both of your gangs never existed. The police should have arrested you schmucks a while ago. And I'll say this to you… Get the hell off my town. We don't need corrupted saviors like you."
"Hmph. Snarky brat, you are…" The ruffian sighed. "Alright, if you want to play a game. Then I'm game. We'll just have to break this young girl first."
Makomo gasped the moment I looked at her in fear. I looked back at him with my teeth gritting.
"You would even stoop this low to attack my sister? You're a criminal…" I spat at them as my anger was increasing.
"Heh. Call us what you like. But we have our own rules here. If you guys aren't paying us, we'll just have to resort to violence if needed. I can't wait to see your face then moment I bash your pathetic sister down to a pulp." The ruffian said as he lowered his bat as he was ready.
"You show no care? Have you no morals!?" Tomoko shouted as she was angry as well.
"This aint about morals, lady." The ruffian continued. "It's about inflicting fear onto the hearts of people."
"K-Keiwa… J-Just pay them… Don't let your sister get hurt…!" Ryoma asked me as the ruffian countered.
"You know what? Fuck paying us. Since you wasted five minutes of our time…. I might as well kill you all. Wish we had guns but a bat would do… Boys! It's time!~" The ruffian shouted as two of his lackeys readied themselves as well.
Third Person POV
"Heheheh…" The ruffians chuckled as they were ready to strike them down. Tomoko could step in and stop them but… she was completely aware of Keiwa's sister after Konbei informed her but she wanted to see what happened.
"Oto-san! Oto-san! Run! I'll stop them!" Keiwa tried to ask him.
"No!" Ryoma continued as he was grieving in pain. "Forget about me, Keiwa! Just… Just…"
"Well now, seems a father and son finally giving in? Good. I hope you're watching, everyone. Because it's about time you're about to witness her end.~" The ruffian said as he slowly approached Makomo who had both hands to her chest as she was afraid. Her eyes were shaking a little. She couldn't do anything. Useless. Defenseless. Being unable to protect those who are dear to her. Her brother… her father… and lastly… her mother Kazumi.

[BA-THUMP!]
The sound of a heartbeat stirs in her mind.
[BA-THUMP!]
Makomo begins to see their mother Kazumi. She was standing the other way where her hair was blown by the breeze.
[BA-THUMP!]
Close up. Kazumi would slowly turn her head as her eyes were obscured by the shadow but her lips… she had a small smile the moment she envisioned it.
"No matter what… I'll always be with you."
[BA-THUMP!]
"Protect those you truly love as I protected you."
[BA-THUMP!]
"So I ask you this… Fly… Fly across the deep dark blue."
[BA-THUMP!]
"So you can protect the skies. Protect… everyone…"
"Stop… it…" Makomo said as she lowered her hands as she tightened them. Suddenly, a blue magical energy began to envelop her as she felt a small breeze blowing her hair.
The ruffian continued to walk with his bat dragging along the dirt ground towards her.
"Stop it…" She said again as she began to gather enough energy as the blue aura appeared around her.
The ruffian then lifted his arms as he held the bat as he was ready to strike her down.
"Leave my family… ALONE!" Makomo shouted with rage the moment it finally happened… Makomo begins to sprout out animal ears and the tail of a dog… but that familiar belonged to someone familiar. She raises her hand against the incoming bat the moment a magical barrier appears in front of her the moment the ruffian's bat lands a hit…
[BWANG!]
"W-What the!?" The ruffian said in shock as his attack bounced off from her shield. Keiwa and Ryoma were surprised and shocked of what's happening. Tomoko on the other hand was already aware thanks to Konbei's information. Though, she was also surprised to see that happening.
"B-Boss!" One of the ruffians tried to help his leader up as Makomo began to lower her shield as it was gone. But her body was surging with blue electricity the moment she was angry. Angry that her brother and father were threatened by them.
"T-The hell… is she…!?" The ruffian shoves his lackey away as he readied his bat but it was slightly bent.
"Get the hell away… FROM MY FAMILY!" Makomo shouted with anger as she used her hands to shoot off sparks of electricity as it zapped the metal bat. Of course, he was starting to get electrocuted from it as he began to scream in agony as he couldn't let it go. Screaming as loud as he can.
"GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" The ruffian shouted in pure agony as he was suffering as everyone present here watched in horror to see Makomo's pure rage.
"I'll kill you… I'LL KILL YOU ALL! DIE! YOU TRIED TO HURT OTO-SAN AND ONII-CHAN! I'LL KILL YOU FOR THAT!" Makomo snarled angrily as she continued electrocuting the ruffian to death in hopes to kill him. All that to protect her family she loves. Keiwa saw her rage and the pain she is going through. She was shedding a tear the moment he noticed… But… he knew what he had to do…
"MAKOMO! STOP IT!" Keiwa shouted at her as his sister as Makomo instantly snaps out of it as her ability stops zapping the ruffian. Of course, the ruffian that she was zapping was all sizzled from his body but he was still standing. The lackeys helped him up to see if he's alright.
"B-Boss. Y-You okay!?" The lackey asked him.
"She… She's… She's a fucking demon…" The ruffian continued as he was instilled with fear in his eyes the moment he pointed at her. He was scared for his life. "THIS BITCH IS A FUCKING DEMON! A DEMON! A GODDAMN DEVIL! A MONSTER! L-Let's get the hell out of here! R-Run!"
Background Music | Persona 5 OST - Alleycat
The ruffians proceed to flee in fear as they wouldn't want to confront them anymore. And just like that… They fled. However, Ryoma was hurt in the process as his left leg could barely work if he tried standing. Keiwa and Tomoko finally earned their sigh of relief as Keiwa stood up to look at his sister. And to his eyes… his complete surprise… Makomo has a familiar. But that's not all…
"I… I can't believe it…" Keiwa said in awe. "Makomo-chan… Y-You're… you're a Witch!"
First Person POV
That's right… Makomo… my own sister. She somehow… somehow became a Witch. I mean… look at her familiar! I can tell that it belongs to our mother. Has… has she inherited it from Kazumi? However, something was wrong… she was crying… I had to rush up to her and look at her face.
"H-Hey, Makomo-chan! Hey! Look at me!" I said to her as she looked at her with her tears running down as I had to wipe it away for her. "You saved us… that's all that matters…"
"B-But… I'm a monster, Onii-chan! A demon! Look at me! I… I tried to kill someone…" Makomo said as if she was trying to do it as she was about to cry. However, I hugged her to give my sister comfort.
"You're not… You're still human… like me!" I continued. "You saved us from them and that's what matters! What you did is the right thing! Protecting us is all that matters!"
"O-Onii-chan… I… I… UWAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!" Makomo then proceeded to cry as she hugged me. Of course, I feel bad for her going through this pain and trouble. Tomoko approached me as I looked at her.
"Well said, Keiwa-kun. However…" Tomoko then looked at my father who was still kneeling. "I do believe he needs our attention."
"You're right…" I continued and looked back at Makomo. "Do you mind going to your room for the time being? We'll come back to you later, okay."
"O-Okay…" Makoko said as she was sobbing as I let her go.
So, me and Tomoko helped Ryoma up. However… I think it's time.
"Oto-san… you owe me an explanation… about Kazumi… our mother. Please… don't hide it from me." I said to Ryoma as he sighed.
"Very well… Just… take me somewhere to sit… After all, I do owe you an explanation…" Ryoma said as we would take him inside the home. Makomo would go inside the house and to her room upstairs in order to calm down.
Background Music End
As time passes by as the sun continues to shine in the day… Tomoko had helped prepare tea where I had to use bandages to wrap around his sprained left leg. Of course, I don't know anything on how to treat it but this is all I can do… So, I finished and sat on the seat as Tomoko sat next to me as she gave tea for my father. He took a deep breath from this silence. I wanted answers from my father that he has been hiding it from me involving my mother named Kazumi. I just want to find out who she is. Why was I born into this world? Or rather… Why did my sister become a Witch out of nowhere?
"Oto-san… Answer me truthfully… I don't despise you or anything but… I just wanted answers about Kazumi. That's all. How did you even meet her? Or rather… who Kazumi truly is…" I continued. "So please… tell me everything."
"Right… I have no intention of hiding it from you. As I said, I owe you an exploitation as I spoke before. I'm sure your friend here will listen in." Ryoma continued. "Now… As for your mother. Her name was Kazumi Kaburagi. No… before we were married many years ago… Her actual name was Kazumi Yokokawa."
"Kazumi Yokokawa…?" I asked him as my father nodded. But Tokomo spoke as she pondered about it.
"Her name sounds familiar… Ryoma-san. Can you please continue?" Tomoko asked.
"Yes… Keiwa, listen well… your mother, Kazumi Yokokawa… is a Witch." And just like that… Ryoma revealed it all to me who Kazumi truly is… a massive revelation shot through my mind and shocked me to the core. My eyes widened in realization the moment he said it.
"N-No way… Oka-san… My mother… is a Witch…?" I said in shock as he didn't say anything… he was actually telling the truth. I started to lay my arms as I grasped my head lightly. "D-Does that mean I'm… a Witch, too?"
"You're not." Tomoko continued. "Only young girls can become Witches. Males do not because it is considered impossible. Except that one time that you were enhanced by Konbei previously. But based on my hunches… he speaks the truth. Back in my world, Kazumi Yokokawa was reported missing in 1941 during her scouting mission alone. I was told by the higher ups that she went MIA that involved… a storm at the pacific sea. When she flew in, she was gone."
"She told me about her mission the first time I met her. Of course… This was back in the year of the late 1997." Ryoma said as Tomoko needed to find out more about it.
"Is… Is Yokokawa alive here?" Tomoko asked as he looked down a bit as he frowned… "Let me guess…"
"No…" Ryoma continued. "She died in 2008 during a home break in. That was when my son was 12 at the time and he killed a thief to protect us…"
Of course… I remember that all too well…
"I-I'm… I'm sorry for bringing it up. Never would I think she would be sent to this world first before we did. Time really did flow differently… but this would mean Yokokawa was 30 at the time." Tomoko said as my father spoke.
"31." Ryoma corrected her. "I'm currently 42 right now but… Yes… we've aged a lot and time does go by fast."
"So… that explains why my sister was born in 2004. And by the time she was young and I was 12. We both saw what happened. But… There's gotta be more to your side of the story. Oto-san… can you tell me everything? The time you met her?" I asked him as he was willing to do so.
"I am about to do that." Ryoma continued. "It all started in November of 1997 during the chill in Yasoba…"
[Flashback - Origins: Ryoma Kaburagi and Kazumi Yokokawa]
First Person POV (Ryoma)
November 2, 1997. Fall is soon about to end and Winter is arriving. It was night here in the quiet, rural but small town of Yasoba. Of course, I was at the age of 18 at that time. All alone here as a simple resident farmer. But I was sound asleep in my bedroom in order to prepare myself for what's to come tomorrow. I didn't want Winter to roll by and ruin my farm. But as I was sleeping soundly and peacefully… I began to hear the sounds of a plane coming closer and closer. And then…
[THOOSH!]
The sound of a rumbling impact instantly woke me up the moment I got off the bed. I tried to look outside the window but… there was no one there… So, I had to leave my bedroom and rush downstairs and head out of my house. And the moment I looked around. I saw what's in front of me… There was a woman who had black hair… animal ears and tail. As well as her white apparel. She even wore her hat… looks like navy stuff. But the biggest reveal was her legs… plane legs… it was sputtering as if something was wrong. Plus, she's not wearing pants! Just what is she thinking! Or rather… What is she doing here in the middle of the countryside in the first place? With no one coming to help… I had to act on my own. So, I began trying to take off those plane legs as I did so successfully. As I brought her inside, I also took those plane legs machines inside my house as well. As I provided her care as she rested on a pillow from my bedroom as her body was under a blanket. Her navy hat was next to her, too. I check her pulse on the side of her neck. Her heart is still beating and she's breathing normally. On top of that… her animal ear and tail were gone as well. By the time I watched over her through the night. I noticed her waking up. She was groaning as she started to open her eyes and gasp, lifting her body up.
"The Neuroi!" The woman said so suddenly as this scared me.
"H-Hey! Calm down! You haven't recovered yet from those injuries from that impact!" I continued frantically. "And better yet, you're lucky that you're alive!"
"H-Huh?" The woman then looked at me. "O-Oh… You did?"
"Yeah, I had to save you before the cold begins to take you." I explained to her about what happened. After I told her about it. She was surprised that I lived alone and yet, I looked at her with my little knowledge of treating her injuries. Of course, she had a kind smile.
"So that's how it happened… Thank you… Umm…" The woman wanted to ask for my name so I did so.
"The names Ryoma Kaburagi. I kinda live here in this small town of Yasoba. After all, I'm just a simpleton farmer." I introduced my name to her.
"Yasoba? Never heard about this town you live in." The woman said as I had my arms crossed.
"Well, it's not many people living here to this day. But it's a quiet town after all. By the way… you never told me your name." I asked her about it as she completely forgot.
"A-Ahh… How rude of me… Allow me to properly introduce myself." The woman continued as she placed her hand to her chest and smiled. "My name is Kazumi Yokokawa, flight instructor attached to the Fuso Imperial Navy. Of course, I'm stationed in Yokosuka there where I train newly recruited Witches on how to fly."
"U-Umm… Fuso?" I asked her. "I don't understand what you mean. Perhaps you're mentioning Japan?"
"Japan? Isn't it Imperial Fuso?" Kazumi asked.
"But, Japan isn't Imperial anymore ever since the war 50 years ago. Are you… okay? Did you hit yourself in the head?" I asked her as Kazumi was continuously becoming confused.
"I… I don't understand what you mean, Kaburagi-san." Kazumi continued. "Moreover… I need to find this Neuroi that I was chasing."
"Hold on… New-roy?" I asked in confusion. "What do you mean by that?"
"Are you not aware? We've been fighting the Neuroi aliens since the 1930s and counting. Surely it's 1941, no?" Kazumi asked me of the year as it surprised me… That makes no sense.
"It's not." I continued. "It's 1997."
"1997? That's… that's way too far!" Kazumi continued. "How is it possible for me to be flung into the future!?"
"I mean… Look around you?" I asked her as Kazumi did so. The moment she finishes looking around. She really came to a realization.
"So it's true… I'm in the future… But does that mean the Neuroi is gone?" Kazumi asked me.
"Umm… We don't have New-Roy you speak of." I said to her as she was surprised.
"W-What do you mean?" Kazumi asked me with confusion as I tried to take a deep breath and explain.
"You see… We don't have aliens in this world. Here… it's just human-to-human conflict. Our country took part in the war before… until a tragedy happened that killed millions and counting to the point where our country admits defeat. Of course, that was World War II." I said to her about it and to her eyes… she was widened in shock and was in a state of confusion.
"Y-You're telling me… that people kill each other in war? And there's no Neuroi?" Kazumi asked as I nodded. Then… she would put herself into a shock where she started to slowly break down. "So… I'm really in another world… All of my friends are gone… I'm all alone… All alone…"
"H-Hey! Kazumi-chan! Calm down!" I tried to talk to her. "Look, I understand the situation you're in but don't beat yourself up! I'm here for you! I helped you during the time of trouble. Things changed! You're alive! I'm alive! That's all that matters!"
"I… I…" Kazumi was about to shed a tear. Of course… revealing everything to her about it felt very alien to her. She said that she came from another world. This was something I've never heard about. Of course, I have to look after her. So I proceeded to hug her as she noticed me.
"Don't worry… I'm here… I understand your situation. You tell me your story of your world… and I'll tell you mine so we can understand each other. Is that okay?" I said to her in hopes to learn something from her as she learned something from me.
And so, we've begun exchanging information about each other's worlds. Kazumi's world… Where do I start… She said that she comes from a world where the whole nation is under attack by the aliens known as the Neuroi which appeared in the late 1930s. The military was proven useless until the nations decided to use young girls who were capable of fighting them. They are known as Witches. Kazumi is one of them. They have the ability to call upon their familiar and use magic. But that's not all. They can fly with planes on their legs known as the Striker Unit. She told me that a genius named Ichiro Miyafuji created it. He was known as the Father of all Strikers. That's what helped the Witches to fight back. Plus, she even told me that Witches fight at an early age ranging from 14 all the way up to 20. Of course, she explained that when the Witches' magic begins to weaken. That means they're at the age of 20 and it's time for them to retire. Plus, her world's country is called Fuso! Which is literally a counterpart of Japan. She even told me about many nations that exist such as Gallia, Karlsland, Liberion, Ostmark, Orussia… Russia with a "O" on the beginning, Romagna, and Suomus. I guessed what they were… In respective order. They were France, Germany, America, Austria-Hungary, Russia, Italy, and Finland. I just get a weird feeling that parallel worlds such as Kazumi's actually exist. Sure, no one would believe me. And so, I told her of our world. I explained to her about those conflicts the more I talked about them. Of course… she would want me to stop me there as human-on-human conflict would scare her. After we've done exchanging information… She pretty much understood everything as I understood her world.
"This… This is truly something to understand how your world works, Kaburagi." Kazumi said as I chuckled a bit.
"Y-Yeah… Also, call me Ryoma. I'm not too well with formalities." I said to her as she smiled.
"Ryoma it is, then." Kazumi continued. "I'm sure you've understood the concepts of my world but… do people really see Witches as both unordinary as well as… Child Soldiers."
"I mean, isn't it messed up that this Fuso is sending kids to die fighting against these aliens?" I said to her with concern. Though, she isn't wrong but…
"Sadly, there was no choice to free our world from the Neuroi. We have to fight." Kazumi said as she looked down. "Of course… now that I'm in a different world… Everything feels strange. What's my purpose here, then?"
"You can live a normal life without war. That's a good start, right?" I asked her about the idea. Of course, I saw her expression as she had no direction at all. She wasn't speaking. But… this gave me a much better idea. "Hey, Kazumi-chan. How about I show you around all over Japan? Well, in Tokyo I mean. And perhaps other cities like Osaka, Nagasaki, and even Yokosuka. Just think of me as your tour guide. How's that sound?"
"You will?" Kazumi said with a blink two times in surprise. I have her a thumbs up and a smile.
"Definitely. Trust me on this one. But on one condition…" I said to her as she spoke.
"Y-Yes?" Kazumi replied.
"Please wear pants." I said to her about the whole pants the moment she took on her blanket and looked at her legs.
"Is it not normal?" Kazumi asked.
"It'll be weird for the public to see you walking with no pants at all. Plus, don't reveal your magic to anyone or those animal ears and tail that you have. It'll freak out those people. They don't know Witches like you exist. So it's best you blend in with the masses. Okay?" I provided her reason why as she seemingly nodded.
"O-Okay… I'll do just that…" Kazumi said with a small blush as I sighed.
"Good. We'll go to Tokyo tomorrow so I'll provide you with some clothing. You won't be needing that uniform anymore, are you?" I responded to the Witch as she noticed it.
"I suppose you're right. Ryoma-kun?" Kazumi said as she looked at me with a smile. "I look forward to you showing me around Japan.~"
And so, I showed Kazumi all around the cities in Japan. I provided her casual clothing and pants so she can fit in with the people. I showed her around Tokyo and other cities as it astonished her of how much the world has progressed compared to her life living in a war against those Neuroi things. Technology improved in this world here so she was excited for some reason. But one thing interested her was make-up in some womens stores. And sometimes she wanted me to check out the arcades. Next location was Yokosuka. She wanted to go there to see if anything's different. And to her eyes… it was. Everything was different for her as the navy here in my world exists. But not a single Witch exists here… except Kazumi. But time after time of touring her though various locations… Well, this whole tour ended up becoming a date between me and Kazumi. I would often tell her my stories of my life and she would do the same thing. She told me one time that she was training a certain Witch named Yoshiko Nishizawa. I can tell she did a good job on training them I suppose. But still, I continued showing her around then and there. During our date within two weeks… I would be the only person to propose to Kazumi if she wanted to marry me back at Yasoba. And guess what? She happily accepted. And just as that… we ended up marrying each other as I finally achieved what I wanted… Starting a family with a Witch. My parents were happy for me that I found the love of my life. I did it. I hit the endgame. Well, the endgame continues, of course. We proceeded to start a family properly through sex.
And on December 14, 1997… She will give birth to our first child… Keiwa Kaburagi. He was a boy. Of course, she wouldn't mind raising him but I was stoked to see her being this happy. Though, I did tell Kazumi to hide her status as a Witch since it was best for our son to not know. And she did it well. I hid her Striker Unit within our home since she has finally settled into this world as my wife here. Year after year. We continued to raise our son to make sure he had a happy life. And Kazumi would adore him the most with care. My only dream is to raise a family while running a farm is the only thing I can do. But I did teach Keiwa on how farming works and hopefully one day he'll take things over for me. As Keiwa was our only son… but on October 23, 2004… Kazumi later gave birth to a baby girl… and she named her Makomo. And she, too, is proud. When she told me that once she grows up… it is possible that our daughter would become a Witch… the first Witch to be born in this modern world… I was excited… and also scared. I told her that it's best that Makomo needs to live a normal life so she wouldn't find out that she'd be a Witch. What if Makomo would be shunned by the people around her. That was my only fear. Of course, she understands my situation. Thus, she decided to not tell Makomo anything and continued raising her. Of course… on August 11, 2008… This was the time where the break in happened within our home…
Third Person POV
As it was quiet here in the dead of the night in Yasoba… a mysterious robber in black jacket and ski mask approached the house. He grabbed out his tools such as his lockpick. The robber then picks the lock as it manages to unlock it in the process. The moment he slid the door open to enter inside and close it… He knew what he had to do… steal as much as he could without making any noise. However… the moment he was about to prepare… he noticed Kazumi who was up in the middle of the night as she wore a white dress as she was about to head to her room.
"H-Huh!" Kazumi noticed as she realized that it was an intruder. "How did you get in!?"
"Shit… You know too much… Die!" The robber shouted as he grabbed out his butterfly knife as he tried to slash her… However..
[BZZZZZZT!]
Kazumi, in her 30s… is still a Witch but her magic was fading at each age. She raised her magic shield to protect herself from the attack as she activated her familiar. She was struggling to resist it. However, this brought the attention of the young Keiwa who was 12 and Makomo who was 4…
"Oka-san!" Keiwa yelled for his mother as she noticed.
"K-Keiwa-kun! Makomo-kun! Get away-" Kazumi tried to warn them as her shield began to flicker and weaken as cracks began to show. And just like that…
[SHATTER! SLASH!]
The robber slashed Kazumi's stomach as blood began to spill out a bit the moment she fell on the floor. Her familiar begins to deactivate in the process as well but… this shocked Keiwa and Makomo as they cried for her.
"Tch… troublesome kids… Might as well kill you two as well…" The robber was about to make his move until…
"YOU BASTARD!" Ryoma yelled as he charges through and knocks down the robber. He proceeds to punch him in the face as the killer drops his knife. However, the robber proceeded to turn it around as he put him on the floor and tried to choke him to death.
Keiwa noticed the knife on the floor as he grabbed it. He saw what the robber did… he killed his mother right in front of his eyes… And now, he's trying to kill his father. He was angry… filled with rage. So, he yelled with anger as he jumped onto the robber's back, stabbing him in the back of the neck, effectively killing him as he fell on the floor. He still carried the knife when he pulled back as Ryoma pushed the dead body of a robber away to the side. As Ryoma saw his son with a knife…
"R-Ryoma-kun…" Kazumi said to her weakly as Keiwa dropped the knife as both children and Ryoma rushed to see her. The husband was filled with regret and sadness that she took the blow as she was bleeding.
"K-Kazumi… T-There's still much time! I can get you to the hospital and-" He was interrupted as she smiled and shook her head.
"No need…" Kazumi continued as she looked at her children. "My time here is already up. Even though I died just a bit young. Talk about timing. As well as me, life being a Witch is over."
"P-Please… don't go! Kazumi!" Ryoma pleaded as he was sobbing and shedding a tear. However, Kazumi would proceed to weakly wipe his tears away from his face.
"I'm sorry… Ryoma-kun… For not staying with you longer to the very end… But please… Don't cry… Smile. You gave me life in this world, gave me a second chance. I'm just happy that I get to be with you… and our loving kids…" Kazumi said with a tear as she smiled, placing her hand to his cheek. "Look after these two for me… And no matter what… I will always love you all…"
"I… I… I will… Kazumi… T-Thank you…" Ryoma thanked her as he proceeded to break down the moment Kazumi closed her eyes… she finally dies happily the moment her arms fall to the floor.
Keiwa and Makomo cried the moment she no longer moved… Kazumi Yokokawa… or rather Kazumi Kaburagi… is no longer with them in this world…

First Person POV (Keiwa)
Background Music | Persona 4 OST - Traumerei
"And that concludes my whole story up until now…" Ryoma finished telling the story as I felt a bit down after hearing about it. Tomoko learned a lot since Kazumi originally came from her world. Thanks to his story… I've learned a lot now of who my mother is…
Before all other Witches came to our world… Kazumi would be the first Witch to come here… and later on married my father and gave birth to us… And not only that, Makomo would be the first Modern Witch in this world. But I still don't understand why both Ryoma and Kazumi wanted to hide Makomo from being a Witch… I know that I want her to live a normal life as I do but still… I was lost for words… I don't know what to say anymore. But one thing is for sure that Makomo finally reveals herself as a Witch. I can understand why she's very scared of herself… her own magic. If Kazumi would have told her earlier… she would have told her but… Perhaps all along this whole time… Makomo had already manifested her powers as a Witch at an early age in the first place. Which is why my father hid that truth away from her. But never in my life… that I have Kazumi's blood within me. Perhaps I was able to have Konbei enhance me when needed all along. Gah…! It's so confusing! But that's not the point.
"Ryoma-san… I… I must thank you for providing your side of the story. Never would I have thought she would die in this world before we came here… Now that I know… I hope she can rest peacefully. You've raised both Keiwa and Makomo on your own really well." Tomoko said to my father as he smiled a bit.
"Thank you. Your words are too kind. Hopefully… Kazumi-chan will continue to watch over me." Ryoma continued as he looked at his left leg. "Damn… these brats really did it…"
"H-Hey… is there any way to have that leg feel better? What about a hospital?" I asked him as she shook his head.
"No need. I've heard rumors about one particular place called the Miyafuji Medicinal Clinic. There's one Witch who bears a rare healing ability that can fix and cure almost anything. It can erase life-threatening diseases. And it can even heal mortal wounds, too. So… Can you call it for me?" Ryoma asked me as I was slightly confused but… Then he said it… he was serious. So I calmed down and took a deep breath.
"Right… What's the number of the clinic?" I asked my father.
"Search it on the website on your phone. It should be there." Ryoma replied.
"Okay… Hey, Tomoko-san. Do you mind if you can check up on Mokomo-chan for me? I know she's distraught right now but… I think you're the only one who can cheer her up. Can you do that?" I asked her as she nodded with a smile.
"Sure thing, leave it to me. Do what you must to help your father." Tomoko said as I nodded back at her. As she decided to head upstairs to talk to my younger sister. But for me… I used the number on their website as I gave them a call… and they picked it up.
"You are speaking to Yoshika Miyafuji of the Miyafuji Medicinal Clinic. How can I offer my service?" The voice of a young girl known as Yoshika spoke… I can tell she's a Witch…
"Y-Yeah… this is Keiwa Kaburagi. My father's left leg is in great pain after he sprained it. Broken, even! Can you come to Yasoba right now and heal my father, please? He really needs medical attention!" I asked her about the situation.
"Hai! I'll be heading over there very soon. So stay put!" Yoshika said as the call suddenly ended. That was fast…
"Oto-san… I managed to call them. The girl named Yoshika will come over there and heal your left leg." I informed him as he let off a chuckle.
"Heheh… That's a relief." Ryoma continued. "By the way. Today's your birthday and you're already 22 now, right? So… Happy birthday, my son."
"Thank you, Oto-san… That really gave me a smile on my face. I'll head outside and wait for her to arrive." So, I would do so…
Third Person POV
Meanwhile inside Makomo's room where she was alone as she had her legs up as she wraps her arm over it. Of course, her familiar is still activated since she doesn't know how to get rid of it. However, the door begins to open where Tomoko would come in to meet her.
"Hey there, Makomo-chan." Tomoko said kindly to her as Keiwa's sister looked at her as she was still afraid. "Are you afraid of your own power?"
"Y-Yes…" Makomo said as she looked down on herself. Though, Tomoko would understand her pain as she began to speak.
"Everyone… even Witches at a young age sometimes have these fears but… For me, they were a blessing." Tomoko continued. "You're not the only person with this power."
"R-Really…?" Makomo asked her as she would look at her doing something… Tomoko begins to concentrate as her familiar begins to activate. Of course, this surprises her. "Y-You're…!"
"That's right. I'm a Witch." Tomoko continued. "You used your magic to protect your family. Thus, you did the right thing."
"But… I ended up hurting them…" Makomo said as she continued to feel guilty. But Tomoko would think otherwise.
"No. They tried to hurt your family that you love." Tomoko continued. "I understand how you feel. But being a Witch means something greater. It is never to be shunned by."
"But look at me! I'm a monster!" Makomo retorted as she felt bad. However, Tomoko placed her hand on her head to give her headpats.
"That's what all people say. At the end of the day, you're human. Like the rest of us." Tomoko continued. "I became a Witch because I wanted to protect the country that I cherish. But you… You are Kazumi Yokokawa's living proof. A proof that a Witch like you can be born into this modern world. She loved you, adored you. Yet, hid secrets from you. Most likely because you manifested your magic as a Witch at such an early age, and yet did not tell you because of Ryoma's behest and fears. Fears that the public will shun you. But it doesn't matter, now that we're here in this world. We Witches are no longer shunned. We're part of the society as you are, too. There's nothing to be afraid of. Being a Witch means to protect both our loved ones… and the skies. Your brother is proud of what you've become."
Makomo had a hard time believing her but knowing that she was born within Kazumi. She was unsure of herself the moment she awakened to her magic. She would imagine her brother praising her. Praising her because she became a Witch. At first, A Witch would be a bad taboo that involves black magic, cats, and broomsticks. But that's not the point. A Witch is a title. Girls who are blessed with magic who vow their oath to protect both land and air from threats such as the Neuroi. But here in this world, it's sometimes Neuroi… but also people. A cruel world that all Witches must live in and endure. Even if they're willing to kill for the sake of protecting those they cherish.
"I… I believe you." Makomo said as she finally stops being scared and finally break off her mental shell. So, she got off the bed and hugged her. Tomoko deactivated her familiar and hugged her back.
"That's good." Tomoko replied as Makomo looked at her.
"B-But… I don't know how to get those things off of me…" Makomo said as her dog ears flickered and wagged her tail slowly.
"Simple. Just close your eyes and focus. Try it." Tomoko tells her as she does so. Makomo then closes her eyes as she would proceed to close her eyes, taking a deep breath and focus. And just like that… her familiar deactivates as it worked. She opened her eyes as she looked at the mirror in her room.
"I-It worked…" Makomo said in surprise as Tomoko ruffled her hair.
"I knew you would trust me. Now then, you want to come out of your room and see your brother? I can tell he's worried about you." Tomoko said with a small smile as Makomo didn't realize it. She was unsure if she made him sad but… She is Keiwa's brother for sure.
"P-Please… I want to go see Onii-chan…" Makomo said as the latter nodded. So, the two would proceed to leave the room and go downstairs. She just hopes her brother's okay.
First Person POV
Background Music | Persona 5 OST - Alright
I was seen outside of the home where I saw someone arriving from the skies. There was a brown short-haired young girl who was seen hovering down on her Striker Unit who was seen wearing a doctor's coat with a sailor uniform under it. Under that sailor uniform was a swimsuit. Of course, she has a familiarity with what appears to be a shiba inu. The moment she landed down and deactivated her striker along with her familiar… She lightly falls behind first as she would have her legs off from the Striker Unit.
"U-Umm… Are you Keiwa Kaburagi-san?" The girl asked me as I nodded.
"That's me. You're… Yoshika, right?" I asked her as she responded.
"Hai! I'm Yoshika Miyafuji as said before. You said your father's leg is sprained, right?" Yoshika said as she carried her strikers and leaned against the outside wall.
"Yeah. He's inside. Follow me." I said to her as she followed me into the house where I presented her to my father.
"How did this happen?" Yoshika asked me. I guess I should tell her the truth. Lying won't make anything better.
"A group of delinquents tried to bribe my father his money for protection. When he refused… the gang leader broke his left leg with a bat. Most likely the kneecap." I continued as I showed Yoshika the bandaged leg that Ryoma has. He's doing a good job of remaining silent. "I don't know anything about healing injuries but this is all I can do."
"It's okay, Keiwa-san. Leave it to me." Yoshika said as she would place her hands over the injured area of his left leg. Then, her familiar activates again as she focuses on it. Then, a warmth of blue light begins to glow as Ryoma notices that it's working. He can feel his leg fixing itself from Yoshika's healing magic. And just as that… she was all finished as she deactivated her familiar once again. It only took 30 seconds… Man, healing magic is tight… I wonder if punching with healing magic counts? "There, all done. Can you try testing your legs, mister?"
Ryoma then begins to move his left legs. He wasn't feeling any pain… it was all better, too!
"Impressive… This is truly impressive!" Ryoma said as he continued. "Now then… I should get back to work on my farm-"
"Whoooooa, hold it, Oto-san!" I stopped him there. "Yoshika here may have healed you but that doesn't mean you can get back to work right away. You need to rest."
"Your son's right." Yoshika said with a kind smile. "While I have healed your sprained injuries, you need time to rest until everythings fine. Give it about three days of rest, okay?"
Ryoma then sighed as he had no choice… he had to listen to the words of the doctor.
"Fine… I'll do as you say…" Ryoma complied as I had a smile on my face. Saved my father from overworking. Good job, me. However, I noticed Tomoko and Makomo coming down stairs as they looked at us.
"Makomo-chan." I said to her with a smile. "I hope you had good talks with Tomoko-san, did you?"
"I did, Onii-chan." Makomo happily said. "Tomoko-neesan cheered me up so I feel better."
"E-Eeh!?" Yoshika was shocked the moment she saw Tomoko. "T-T-Tomoko Anabuki!?"
"Wait a second… I know you. You must be Yoshika Miyafuji of the 501st JFW… Strike Witches." Tomoko said as she spoke of her name.
"Y-Yes! That's me! C-Can i get an autograph!?" Yoshika shyly asked her as Tomoko chuckled.
"As much as I love to but not now." Tomoko continued. "Oh yes. I forgot to tell you this… Since you're familiar with Mio Sakamoto. She's alive and well. I mean… she works for the Typhoon Coffin Platoon. The one that Keiwa works under."
"Sakamoto-san works there!? Keiwa-san!? Why didn't you tell me?" Yoshika quickly asked me as this became a very weird conversation.
"H-Hey! We've only just met! Besides, Mio-san has been nice to me! I-If you wanna visit her… Come to Shousetsu. We're stationed at the 503rd JFW Air Base. It's not much but… it's there." I said to her where we reside as she gave it thought…
"Shousetsu… Got it! I'll definitely visit there! Thanks for letting me know, Keiwa-san!" Yoshika happily replied as I tried to maintain a smile. Never would I have thought of meeting another former 501st member…

Abandoned Warehouse, Yasoba, Japan Daytime - Clear Sky
Meanwhile… somewhere within the closed abandoned warehouse where the leader and two lackeys were seen… The leader remained patient as he was sitting on a throne made out of rusted iron pipes. Of course, he was trying to think but his lackeys were bickering with each other.
"We messed up…" The first lackey spoke in defeat.
"Messed up real bad…" The second lackey added.
"Silent, dumbasses." The ruffian leader spoke as he stood up from his throne. "I got a plan… in fact… a better one."
The leader would have a smirk the moment he brought something out that was behind him. The lackey saw a red glow upon their surprise.
"B-Boss. D-Don't tell me…?" The first lackey asked him with concern.
"That's right. This my friends… is a Neuroi Core." The ruffian leader continued. "I managed to buy it off from a smuggler which was extracted fresh from Kastovia. I heard words that Europe are still fighting the Neuroi Hive in the city of Verdansk but who gives a fuck. With it… we'll teach these shitstains for looking down on us… Along with that girl who tried to kill me… A fucking devil herself."
"Hey… That's a good plan, boss! How do you even use it?" The second lackey asked in question.
"Simple. We wake it up. With this… I will show the people of Yasoba that I'm the one in charge here! No one! NO ONE BUT-" Suddenly…
[FWEEM! PIERCE!]
A laser shot the leader's chest… The core was responsible for killing him as it left a burning hole in his chest as he fell to the floor… The core was floating as it was starting to begin taking shape as the white flakes began to materialize around it slowly.
Background Music | Persona 3 OST - Calamity
"B-Boss is dead!" The first lackey shouted.
"Really dead!" The second lackey continued. "But the core?"
"It's forming." The first lackey said as he looked at him. "You know what it's time for?"
"Yes, yes! We run for help!" The second lackey spoke as the other nodded.
"Yes! Help! FLEE!" The lackeys then proceed to flee from the warehouse as the core would hover up as it leaves the warehouse as it continues to gather form…
Kaburagi Residence, Yasoba, Japan Daytime - Clear Sky
First Person POV
And so… Everything ended quite well. Yoshika was seen outside of our home as me and Tomoko were with her. Makomo had to look after our father since he needed rest.
"Thank you, Yoshika-san… for healing my father's leg. For that, I'm in your debt." I continued as I realized. "S-Shoot! I do need to pay you, right?"
"Oh no, there's no need. I do it for free." Yoshika said casually as this confused me.
"Wait, free? I mean, you need money to keep your establishment in Yokosuka up and running, right?" Seriously… I know you're doing it for free but…
"That's right. You used our website that Ichigo-kun made for us but no one uses it sadly. We usually get regulars in Yokosuka who often come here for either check ups or healing injuries. But if you want to come to Yokosuka and visit our clinic. You're free to do so any time." Yoshika said as she explained about it. Okay… I guess doing stuff for free is… reasonable. But you still need money.
"I see. But still! I understand you're doing humanity a great favor! So here!" I proceeded to quickly grab someone out of my wallet and gave her 5000 yen. "Take it, please. Consider this my contribution to make your clinic thrive, okay?"
"H-Hai…?" Yoshika seemingly accepts it as she would put it away in one of the pockets. "Now then, I should get going. But I'll definitely have the time to visit Shousetsu to pay a visit to Sakamoto-san when I get the time."
"Oh definitely. Just tell them that you're a former 501st and they'll prolly let you in." I said to her as she giggled.
"If they let me." Yoshika replied.
"You should head back. After all, you've done a great service in helping his father." Tomoko said.
"Yeah. I understand that you're busy and-"
[SREEEEECH!]
Suddenly, this interrupted us the moment we heard something familiar…
"Great… I know that sounds all too well…" I continued. "A Neuroi…!"
"Neuroi!?" Yoshika exclaimed as we three looked to where I was looking… it was far from the town we're at where we saw a Neuroi that finally took its shape… it's in the shape of a stealth bomber for some reason but… Why is it here in my hometown!?
"Damn it… Tomoko-san doesn't have her striker or her sword… And I don't have a sword, either!" I said we were pretty much without weapons. Ryoma and Makomo rushed outside to see what's going on. The moment my father saw the Neuroi… His eyes widened.
"So Kazumi speaks true… So this is what a Neuroi looks like… It's over… our town is doomed… We're all going to die…" Ryoma said in fear the moment everything's all lost. But…
"Oto-san." I continued. "All is not lost…"
"Keiwa…" Ryoma said to me.
"You may think of that but… We have Witches here. They've been battle hardened to fight against their old enemy for the longest time. Believe in them, Oto-san." I said to him with a carefree smile.
"T-Then… How confident are you about this?" My father asked me as I smirked as we looked at him. Makomo looked at us, too.
"What are you talking about?" I said as I turned around to look at them. "We're always confident."
"I'll go get on my Striker Unit and try to stop it. I may not have a weapon right now but it's the least I can do!" Yoshika said to us. "Keiwa-san? Can you keep my Strikers steady?"
"Sure thing." I said to her as I managed to grab her Strikers and held it still as I kneeled on the floor. Yoshika ran as she stepped on my back and got on her Striker the moment her familiar began to activate, powering up her Striker Unit to life as the magic circle appeared below us as the engines roared the moment I stood up and took a step back as she was hovering. "Well that was something… But hey, go for it."
"Thanks! Now then… LAUNCH!" Yoshika shouted as she proceeded to propel herself into the air as she flew to confront Neuroi.
"I… I want to help, too!" Makomo said to us as we all looked at her.
"Makomo… You may be a Witch but you have no strikers? Or better yet, you have no weapons." Tomoko said to her as she shook her head.
"I do archery if you don't know." Makomo continued. "I want to repay Onii-chan for cheering me up. And you also got me out of the darkness that I couldn't escape. Tomoko-san… please…"
"Makomo-chan… She said that you don't have the Strikers. Plus, you don't know how to fly…" I was worried about her… She's becoming way too reckless. She may be my sister as well as Kazumi's successor. I'm not too sure of this… "Oto-san. What should we… Oto-san?
"I'm here." Ryoma said as we noticed him where he was seen carrying what appears to be… No way… this is my mother's Striker Unit!? It even has wheels at the end of it just like Tomoko's Striker! Is this the same model?
"Ryoma-san… this is…!" Tomoko was surprised.
"I know." Ryoma continued as he was serious. "I, too, want to make things right… for Kazumi. If I want to make her happy… Then I'll place my trust in Makomo to carry Kazumi's wishes."
"O-Oto-san… you don't mean…?" Makomo asked in surprise as he nodded.
"No pants. You know how Striker Units work." Ryoma continued. "And you have archery equipment back in your room, right? You can use that if you can pull it off somehow. Besides… I don't think the Witch in the sky would take on the Neuroi alone with no weapon at all."
"I-I do… I want to make Oka-san proud… so I'll show her that I can carry her wishes!" Makomo said with her determination as me and Tomoko smiled because of it.
"Then do it." I continued. "Make our Oka-san proud!"
"You got it, Onii-chan!~" Makomo then proceeded to rush back into the house. But as many seconds passed. She had no pants but now wields a Yumi bow and quiver that holds arrows. Then… she would jump as her legs slipped right into Kazumi's Striker Units…
The moment she does so… her familiar begins to activate as it powers up the Striker, the engine roars to life as the magic circle appears below us… She did it… she actually got on our mother's Striker! The moment Ryoma lets it go as she was ready…
Background Music | Persona 3 FES OST - Mass Destruction
"Here I go…!" Makomo said with her stoic response as she began to move from the wheels at the end of it. She passes through the farm plains as she builds up speed but she was slightly having trouble the moment she took off. "W-WHOOOOOOAAAAAA! T-THIS IS FAAAAAAAAAAAAST!"
"Ooh boy…" I said with a slight facepalm… "I can't watch…"
"I understand your concern but… I think she has zero experience in flying… but trust in your sister, Keiwa-san. I believe she got this." Tomoko said to me as I sighed, looking at her to fly out of control as she was trying to meet up with Yoshika.
"Y-Yeah… I'll place my trust in her… I saw what her magic ability can do. So I think she can pull it off." So, it was me, Tomoko, and Ryoma watching this happen. Makomo… Don't die on me, you hear me?
Third Person POV
Meanwhile in the skies… Yoshika had already arrived to confront the Neuroi the moment the enemy took notice of the Witch in the skies above Yasoba.
"I need to find a way to divert its attention somehow… I should have brought my Ether Projection Cannon that Oto-san built for me…" Yoshika said in her mind that she has to stall enough time until someone arrives. "W-WHOA!"
[FWEEEEEEEEM! PSSSSSSSSSSSSH!]
Yoshika managed to raise up a shield as it was quite large. Her magical energy has improved thanks to her past experiences and hardships she faced. Of course, it didn't bother her but as long as she had enough magical energy. She can put up her shield as much as she wants. But… the Neuroi has already let out a continuous laser beam as Yoshika continued to shield herself with it. She grits her teeth in order to repel it. But time is of the essence until…
"Hmm?" Yoshika heard something as she turned her head a bit while with her shield raised. She realized something was coming. "E-EEH!?"
"O-OUT OF MY WAY! S-SOMEONE HELP MEEEEEE! I CAN'T CONTROL IT!" The voice of Makomo shouted as she was flying out of control on Kazumi's Striker Unit. Of course, she was wielding a bow and a holstered arrow quiver as she was struggling to control it, flying around all over the place at such a speed like this. Of course, Yoshika was not prepared the moment Makomo was flying directly towards her.
"U-UWAAAAAAH!" Yoshika didn't have time to react as the laser stopped the moment she tried to turn her shield around until…
[BUMP!]
Makomo had collided into Yoshika as the latter would spin out of control. Makomo stops spinning as she manages to regain her control and balance the moment she was hovering.
"T-That was… something…" Makomo said to herself as she was catching her breath. "At least I'm still flying… somehow. Just what am I going to do, Oka-san? How am I going to fight this… thing?"
"You there!" Yoshika said as she hovered next to her as she took notice.
"Y-You are…?" Makoko asked her name.
"Yoshika Miyafuji. Right now, there's no time." Yoshika continued when she saw her weapon. "You're the only Witch who has a weapon. Can you follow my lead?"
"I-I can… but I don't know how to fly or control properly in this Striker Unit… It's my first time…" Makomo replied with uncertainty due to having no experience being the first Modern Witch at all. Even though she is Kazumi's living wish. Yoshika took notice of this as her mind flashes back to her first experience in flying as she dealt with that before. She snaps back into reality as she lightly grabs her hand as the two would look at each other.
"Don't worry. You're Makomo, right? Your brother mentioned your name so I was hoping we can get along for once." Yoshika said with a kind smile. Makomo on the other hand was rather surprised that she is very calm within the situation they're in. Then, Yoshika let go of her hand as the two would look at the Neuroi who were targeting them. "For now, we need to destroy the Neuroi."
"B-But how!?" Makomo demanded to know as Yoshika had a confident smile the moment she was ready.
"Trust me." Yoshika replies as another laser proceeds to fire once again as Yoshika raises up her shield again to block the incoming continuous laser as she slightly struggles. "Makomo-chan! The bow!"
"R-Right! My bow!" Makomo said with a slight frantic response as she proceeded to draw out her arrow from her quiver, putting it on the string as she would do just like she did back at the school's archery club. She maintained her focus just as she did before as she spoke in her mind...
"Focus, me… Just remember how you did it. Pull back the bow slowly. All the way back… Concentrate… find the target…" Makomo said within her mind as she closed her eyes. However… her body begins to surge blue electricity once again as this time… the arrow was being charged up as it was glowing like a blue strike of lightning. She needs to strike like lightning. With her arrow, it'll do just that… And then… she opened her eyes… finding the weak point of the Neuroi as she finally releases it… "Kaminari!"
[FWOOSH! KRAKOOM!]
The arrow was released as it was shot from the bow. The arrow of lightning flew through Yoshika's shield the moment the laser stopped firing. But the arrow had begun piercing through the body of the Neuroi in just a flash. Like a sound of thunder crackling across the skies. Through the pierced hole of the Neuroi that Yoshika saw… the core was destroyed as the Neuroi proceeded to glow white until…
[SHATTER!]
And thus… another Neuroi is destroyed… All thanks to both Yoshika and Keiwa's younger sister… Makomo Kaburagi.
Background Music | Persona 4 OST - SMILE
"I… I did it…?" Makomo was surprised after she managed to destroy it for the very first time. Not only did she awaken her abilities as a Witch, she also managed to prove herself by doing just that. She continued to see the white flakes fall down slowly. Yoshika hovered next to her as she gave her approval with a smile.
"Yes you did, Makoko-chan. Yes you did." Yoshika said as Yasoba was saved from the Neuroi attack. And on top of all that, no buildings were destroyed and the people were not hurt in the process.
First Person POV
Background Music | Persona 5 OST - Sunset Bridge
As time passes later… Makomo was no longer on her Striker as I had to help take it off as her familiar was deactivated. My hometown is safe. I proceeded to hug Makomo as I was proud of her.
"You did great, Makomo-chan. Good job on destroying the Neuroi. I knew you had the potential." I praised her as I kept my distance a little. Of course, this was her first time after all.
"T-Thank you, Onii-chan…" Makomo continued. "W-With this power I have. Does it mean… Does it mean I can protect you and Oto-san?"
"That's right." Yoshika said as she was on her strikers to hover in the air. "You did what you had to do. Though, I can only assume that you might be recruited into a flight school now that you've become a Witch just recently. But don't worry! I'm sure the instructors are nice."
"D-Do I have to?" Makomo said as Ryoma spoke to her.
"You needn't worry about me." Ryoma said with a smile. "While your skills in flying are much less to be desired… I think it's best that you join a flight school for Witches. I'm sure your mother would be proud of you for joining."
"R-Really? Oka-san would be happy?" Makomo said to us as we both nodded.
"Think about it. You'll improve your skills as a Witch. Not only you'll protect us. You'll also protect the skies, too." I continued with a small smile as I ruffled her hair. "Everyone here needs to move on. Even you. Even me. Which is why I want you to be a fully proper Witch. Make friends, learn, and… protect those you love the most. You understand?"
"I… I do… Onii-chan… Oto-san…" Makomo said to us. "I want to be a Witch!"
"A good call." I responded to her with a positive insight. "Yoshika… Do you have anyone you can call within your phone? Like… an instructor?"
"I think I do. I know someone in Yokosuka so I think she can come to this location to pick up Makomo-chan. I'll give her a call while I return." Yoshika said to me as I nodded.
"Thank you. Be on your way, I'm sure… that we'll have to get ready to give Makomo a proper farewell." I continued as I nearly forgot one more thing… "Thank you, Yoshika… for protecting my hometown."
"Think nothing of it. Well, I'll be going now. You all take care. You as well, Tomoko-san!" Yoshika said to us a farewell as we waved her goodbye. The Witch smiled as she took off into the sky at incredible speed as it left a contrail in the afternoon blue sky.
"You know, Keiwa-kun?" Tomoko asked me as I looked at her. "Miyafuji reminds me of the time when I was younger. While both of us have the same ideal to protect the skies. My time such as this is past beyond me. Ever since her contribution in helping the liberation of Berlin back in our world. I knew she was truly something special."
"That, she is…" I said with a small smile as we looked at the sky. "If… we were to meet once again. But perhaps in proper, friendlier circumstances."
"Perhaps in the future, then. The 501st Joint Fighter Wing Strike Witches no longer exist in this world. But the Witches who were once members of it still live. But regardless, I think the world will thrive in a bright future… where the next generation of Witches can protect humanity from any potential threats. Even if the Neurois are wiped out." Tomoko said as I pondered about it.
"And what if the Neurois come back? Or rather… arrives in our world again. Worse yet, there will be war, conflicts, and terrorism. The world will never heal from its own injuries." I said to my ally… no… my friend Tomoko. She is aware of the world's current problems.
"Then we fight and endure. No matter what, we Witches will protect the skies." Tomoko said with her reasons as I smiled at her.
"A spoken like a true Witch. Never would I have thought to meet an Anabuki such as you." The voice spoke as we turned around where there was a Witch landing with a magical carriage as she hovered. There was a Witch with short brown hair as she wore a white Fusoan navy uniform as she had a scarf wrapped over her neck as it was blown by the breeze. Not only that, she has a katana sheathed on the side of her hip.
"Hmm? And you are?" I asked her as she replied.
"Yoshiko Nishizawa, Flight Instructor and Flight Lieutenant of the 68th JMSDF's Fuso Imperial Fighter Unit. I received a message from Miyafuji that you have a certain Witch that is willing to enroll at the Yokosuka Aviation Flight Preparatory School?" The Witch named Yoshiko introduced herself and asked us about Makomo… Right. Can't forget about her.
"Yeah. I have a younger sister named Makomo Kaburagi here. She made her decision to fight as a Witch." I said to her as I proceeded to present my sister to her. "But that's not all. Makomo here… is Kazumi Yokokawa's daughter. In other words… our mother."
"W-Wait… did you say Kazumi Yokokawa? She was my sensei." Yoshiko continued. "If Makomo here is sensei's daughter… Is she alive? Sensei has been missing for years now ever since we came to this world."
"Unfortunately…" Ryoma spoke as his expression changed. "My wife… She died years ago in 2008… I know it's surprising but… I'll tell you this right now. Your mentor, Kazumi. She was the first Witch to arrive in our world in 1997. Of course, I married her under the Kaburagi name because she wanted a family. These… These are Kazumi's children… Keiwa and Makomo. But it's my daughter you want."
"N-No way… Y-You're not lying…" Yoshiko continued as she lowered her head as she frowned a bit. "A-Are you telling the truth…?"
"Oto-san is telling the truth." Mokomo said as Yoshiko then looked at her. For a sudden moment… Makoko shares the same appearance of her mentor… a near splitting image. She proceeds to shed a tear until she wipes it off. "A-Are you okay?"
"Y-Yeah… I'm okay…" Yoshiko said with a smile. "So, Makomo Kaburagi, right? I'm glad… I'm glad that I met you. I'm very glad that my mentor raised you into a fine Witch."
"B-But… I just awakened to my powers just very recently." Makomo explained shyly as Yoshiko seemingly nodded.
"That's alright. Which is why I'll be training you how to fly and fight properly as a Witch. I'm sure it'll be tough for you but rest assured that you'll endure this training. Now then… Shall we head off?" Yoshiko said as Makomo spoke.
"Y-Yes but… Before I do so… I want to say my goodbyes." Makomo said as Yoshiko nodded to give her time. Then, my sister looked at me and Ryoma. "Onii-chan… Oto-san… I'm… I'm going to miss you."
"Don't worry, Makomo. This may be your goodbye. But you can always come back. So don't worry about me. I have a farm to attend to, after all." Ryoma then looked at me. "Keiwa. I do hope you have something to say… right?"
"Yeah, I do." I continued as I took a deep breath. "I came back to Yasoba in hopes to reconcile with you… and Makomo-chan. But… with my sister now being the first Witch born in this modern world. I suppose this is truly a blessing. Oto-san, Makomo-chan… I'm sorry… I'm sorry that I abandoned you two… Abandoned the hometown that I live in. I… I hope you can accept my apology…"
I bowed down in respect in order to apologize to my father and sister. I was a fool but left them behind to live in Tokyo. I'm just unsure that I feel this much shame in myself. And then…
"Don't be." Ryoma said as I looked at him in surprise. "I understand how you feel. You avenged her when you were young. I was never afraid nor fearful of you. I wanted to hide this pain from the suffering that you've been fighting. A demon lurking within you. You're still human to the end, conquered your demons, faced the past. In the end… you thrived. It is I… who failed you… both of you."
"That's wrong, Oto-san…!" Makomo hugged our father. "You never failed us. Oka-san would be sad if you're going to act all sad… She gave birth to us so that we can live. And I'm sure she's watching us over the skies with a smile on her face. That's what I see."
"Makomo… Thank you… Thank you for giving me hope…" Ryoma continued. "Well… I think it's time for you to be ready. You're a Witch now. Make Kazumi proud, okay?"
"I will!~" Makoko happily replied as she carried her Strikers as her bow and quiver was holstered. Then, she looked at me before she stepped into the carriage. "Goodbye, Onii-chan… We might never see each other again."
"Hey, don't worry about me. Me and Tomoko-san here… We have a world to protect so you do you, okay? Make me proud." I said to my sister as she nodded with a smile.
"So, all done? Ready to go?" Yoshiko asked her.
"I am. Take me to Yokosuka… I'm… I'm ready to challenge what's ahead of me." Makomo said with her new found resolve as Yoshiko laughed.
"That's great!" Yoshiko replied as Makomo stepped in and closed the door before taking a seat. So, I wanted to ask Yoshiko…
"Yoshiko-san." I continued. "Please… look after my sister for me."
"Don't worry. As a Witch, I'll uphold your promise. Now then, we'll be flying off. Farewell!" Yoshiko said as she began to hover up as I looked at Makomo looking outside the window as she was waving at me. I waved at her back with a smile on my face. And just like that…
[FWOOSH!]
Yoshiko flew off with my sister inside the carriage. They were gone… It was tearful, yeah. But I think it's time for my sister to begin her new life as a Witch. I'm sure she'll carry our mother's wishes.
"There she goes…" Ryoma said as he looked at me. "Well, I guess this is it."
"You're going to be alone again?" I asked my father as he chuckled.
"Pretty much, yea. But don't worry about me as I said before. I can handle myself just fine. And if you want to return back to our hometown of Yasoba. You're free to return whenever. Besides, you got one more day of staying here before turning back to Shousetsu." Ryoma said as I had a small smile.
"Yeah, you're right." I continued. "Besides, I wanted to show Tomoko-san here all around town, check out some places like the shrine… And perhaps the inn there. I'm sure the hot springs are still open."
"As much as I can remember, they're always open 24/7. But have fun, you two. I'm sure Tomoko would enjoy this small town." Ryoma said with a smile.
"Thank you, Ryoma-san. You're too kind." Tomoko continued as she asked me. "Now then, shall we proceed?"
"Yeah. Let's start in the town there. I'll show you some places that were my favorite." I said to her as she was willing to follow me as I've begun showing her all around town as part of my own little tour.

After taking Tomoko around town and visiting the shrine to respect the dead. I had the best idea so I decided to take Tomoko to the hot springs. She didn't want Konbei to peek at her so I took him with me. Of course, I was at the men's area of the springs as Tomoko was at the other side where it's females only. I was half naked since I had the necessary clothing in order for me to take a dip. I proceeded to have a deep sigh of relief the moment I had my body sink into the hot spring while I relaxed my head here tonight. Konbei was seen sitting behind me since he's on his best behavior for Tomoko.
"Phew… Nothing beats better than enjoying a good relaxation in the hot springs. You can never say no to it, of course." I said to myself as I stared into the starry skies. After all, this is a small town I live in.
"You seemed to be enjoying it, Keiwa-sama." Konbei continued. "Though, I'd like to ask you about Makomo. Your sister, of course."
"Hmm? What do you mean by that?" I asked.
"Yesterday, when you were out and about helping your father on the farm. I had a talk with Ojou-sama the moment I sensed something from your sister." Konbei said as I listened.
"And you mean…?" I asked as the fox spoke.
"I had already sensed Makomo's magical energy within her right the moment we first came to your hometown." Konbei continued. "Never would I think that your mother is a Witch… who came to your world years prior to our arrival."
"Yeah, I was surprised that my mother is a Witch. But still, she lived a happy life and that's what matters. I'm glad that I was born into this world. My life changed when I became Tomoko's Slave, meeting new people and Witches there. Even the former 501st Witches! To be honest, I'm starting to make connections with them already." I continued with a smile on my face. "I guess I should tell the whole Typhoon Witches and my platoon buds about this whole thing. They deserve to know the truth."
"That is up to you. Whether you wish to reveal it or not." Konbei replied as I took a sigh.
"I suppose. But my journey is not over yet. Of course, we will leave Yasoba tomorrow morning. So I gotta make sure that I tell my Oto-san a proper farewell. Oh! Perhaps I should take my Yumecast console and the games with me. Surely, Alexandra would allow it." I started to think about whether I want it installed in the lounge room… or my room. It would be interesting to start showing them what videogames are.
"I doubt it, Keiwa-sama…" Konbei replied as he curled up on the floor. "I'll return to Ojou-sama later once she finishes…"
"You do that." I responded normally as I continued to stare at the sky. Though, my mind begins to ponder about Kazumi and Makomo. As for my sister… I can tell she'll do just fine as long those flight instructors train her well. You can help but think if the results will be worth it in the end. But either way… I think my sister is in good hands.

"So, you're leaving already?" Ryoma asked me as me and Tomoko were outside.
"Yeah. I'm expected to return back to Shousetsu to continue what I do, Oto-san. I hope you'll respect my choice." I said to my father as he placed his hand on the top of my head.
"You do you, my son." Ryoma continued. "I'm sure you'll live a happier life as long as you have friends with you. After all, I can live all by myself so don't worry about me. I'll be fine. And the good thing about it is that those ruffians won't bother me any more."
"That's good to hear." I said with a smile as I proceeded to hug him as he did so back. "This may be my final farewell. We might not see each other again so who knows what will happen."
"Heh. I'm just glad that I was able to talk to you and see your face again after so many years." Ryoma continued as we stopped hugging. "Head back to Shousetsu, son. I'm sure your friends are waiting for your return."
"Yeah. Thanks!" And so, Tomoko and I turned around and prepared to leave. But I looked back at him one more time with a smile. "Farewell, Oto-san!"
"You too." Ryoma replied as we both made our leave. As we did so, Tomoko had a small smile as she spoke to me.
"I must say, Keiwa-kun. You and your father really do get along well. Think you'll ever come back there again?" Tomoko asked as I chuckled.
"If I somehow get a wife, that is." I continued. "All jokes aside. Everyone has to move on when it comes to my family. My sister's still training as a Witch. And you and I still need to continue our line of duty ever since our visit to Karlsland. And better yet, I was able to take my only belongings with me… My Yumecast console."
"Your prized possession?" Tomoko continued. "Keiwa-kun. You said that this is a… video game console, right? I'm not too familiar with this term so… Perhaps you can teach me how to play?"
"Oh? I see you have interest in playing video games, huh? Very well, I will teach you how to play Brave Star Online Nova Burst. It's one of my favorites and trust me, you'll enjoy it." I said to her as she has interest in it. As the talks went in. We reached the station and took the train in order for us to return back to Shousetsu.
Feels strange that we're the only two in this train car but still. A long way back should be pretty fine for us. But now that I know that I'm the Witch's Son. Kazumi… I won't disappoint you. Watch over me from the skies, okay? Starting today… My new purpose begins now. I will protect this world that I believe in. And to cherish those who I protect. Even if my desire for love is gone… I will push through this. Side character or not. I will keep going forward.
Miyafuji Medicinal Clinic, Yokosuka, Japan Daytime - Clear Sky
Third Person POV
Meanwhile… at the certain location within the residential area of Yokosuka where there was an old feudal-styled residential home with the Japanese sign that translates to what appears to be a clinic. There, a black haired man who wore his black skull icon t-shirt and black shorts as he was seen sitting outside where he was seen reading a certain manga that involves magical girls being employed in the military against terrorist groups. Indeed, he pretty much lived a quiet life where there were two adults inside the home. One who had short brown hair who was seen cooking while the old lady with white hair who kneeled on the floor to remain patient. However, he begins to hear the sounds of the plane approaching as he looks up. Of course… he would greet her when she just came back.
"I'm home, Ichigo-kun." Yoshika said with a kind smile as the man named Ichigo Kazuraba closed the manga and greeted her back.
"Welcome back, Yoshika-san." Ichigo said with a calm tone as he continued. "I assume you stayed over at a certain location in Shousetsu?"
"Hai. I had talks with Sakamoto-san and others there. They seem to be nice people, though." Yoshika continued. "Hmm? What are you reading?"
"This?" Ichigo showed her as he continued. "Just some manga I bought from Akihabara. Just wanted to kill some time while your mother and granny were waiting for you to come home. We've been getting clients left and right while you're away."
"And you helped Oka-san with it, did you?" Yoshika said as she would hover down a bit as she would park her Strikers at the Striker Holders the moment she got off, deactivating her familiar.
"Yeah. Sayaka-san's been teaching me here and there. Never would I think it'd be this complicated." Ichigo said as he scratched the back of his head.
"I'm sure you'll figure it out in due time, Ichigo-kun. Everyone has to start somewhere when it comes to being a doctor." Yoshika said as she pondered. "Though, are you okay with being busy with both being a light novel author and a doctor?"
"Don't worry, Yoshika-chan. I was able to get permission from your mother that I would have my very own table set up so I can try continuing my work digitally rather than writing on paper. Technology has its blessings." Ichigo said as the two heard the voice of Sayaka.
"Kazuraba-san? Yoshika-chan? Dinner's ready." Sayaka informs them as Yoshika happily nods.
"Hai! Ichigo-kun, let's get our dinner." Yoshika said as he nodded with a smile on his face.
"Sure, I was hungry anyways. I just hope it's good." Ichigo said as the two would enter inside. And so, the days like this continue on.
[KEIWA'S FAMILY MENDED, MAKOMO'S PURPOSE AS A WITCH, AND RYOMA'S SHADOW CASTED ASIDE.]
[TO BE CONTINUED…]
Author's Notes: Thank you for reading this chapter. This took a bit longer than I expected but I took things slow if I want to get this done. Now this one has a real backstory of how it began. Kazumi Yokokawa would be the first Witch to arrive here in this world in 1997. And Makomo would be the first Witch to be born in this modern era. Of course, Makomo has a lot of ways to go if she wants to be a proper Witch. As for Keiwa… he managed to reconcile with his father after learning to find out that he is Kazumi's son… or rather, the Witch's Son. This definitely proves that the next generation of Witches can thrive. Now what's next for Keiwa and his journey. Only time will tell. So here's another Glossary for ya'll. So be sure to look forward to the next chapter. Or rather… the extra chapter that will not focus on Keiwa. But instead focuses on other characters that were previously introduced in the Karlsland Arc. Until then, peace out!
