Episode 124: Extreme Pokemon!
It's a beautiful day in the country as Mew and her friends are making their way to Mahogany Town for Mew's next gym battle. It's still ways to go before reaching the town, and soon, the group sees…
"I can see the town!" Mew says.
The Pokemon happily agree.
Looking at the guide book, Brock says, "My trusted map says that's Eggseter."
"Just as long as they have a restaurant there, I'll be happy. I'm starving," Misty says.
"Me too," Tomo says.
"Me too," Molly says.
Suddenly, the group hears something coming from behind. Everyone looks back and sees an Arcanine charging towards and past them, with Gary holding on from behind on a skateboard.
"Gary?" Mew replies, surprised.
Gary soon notices Mew, "Huh?" and calls out, "Whoa!"
Soon, Gary along with his Arcanine comes to a stop.
"Hi, Mew. Guys," Gary says.
"Hey, Gary," Mew says "That board looks pretty cool."
"Thanks," Gary says, "You might not remember, but it's called a skateboard."
"Your Arcanine looks great, Gary,"
"Yeah. It looks so strong, and really well groomed, too. You must've been training together a long time," Brock says.
"We have, Brock," Gary says.
Arcanine agrees.
"So Gary, what are you and Arcanine doing?" Mew asks.
"Arcanine and I are getting ready for the big race in town," Gary says.
"Big race?" Mew asks.
"Yep. Gotta go," Gary says, Then turns to Arcanine, "Go, Arcanine!"
Soon, both the trainer and his Pokemon speed off.
Mew calls out, "But, Gary! Tell us about the race! Wait up!
Everyone looks down the hill and see multiple trainers preparing for the race before they watch Arcanine and Gary speed off a ramp while another trainer is seen telling his Granbull to go faster while another trainer does the same with his Scyther.
"Well, talk about your radical sports!" Brock says.
"Looks like it's a common sport here," Jen says.
"It seems a little dangerous," Misty says.
"For the Pokemon or for the trainer?" Mew asks, concerned.
"Eevee Eevee," (It's very hard to tell.) Eevee says.
"Pika Pika," (I say both.) Pikachu says.
Sparkle nods in agreement.
Sometime later, Mew and the others are having lunch at the local restaurant and have just been served their food.
"That was delicious," Misty says.
"Yeah. Almost as good as mine," Brock says.
"You're right, it kind of does," Tomo says.
Meanwhile, Mew is deep in thought, "Hmmm."
"What's wrong, Mew?" Molly asks.
"I'm just a bit concerned for the Pokemon and the trainer, and I have to wonder what they're up to," Mew says.
"I wonder about that too, especially that collar Arcanine was wearing," Jen says.
"Yeha. that collar doesn't look that comfortable," Molly says.
But Brock says, "But Arcanine didn't seem to mind it, at all."
"That's right. We call the race Extreme Pokémon," A man's voice speaks up.
Everyone turns to see a middle age man wearing a gray shirt, dark gray pants, and has a grayish brown hair and mustache.
"Extreme Pokemon?" Brock question.
"Yes. It's become the single most popular sport in Eggseter," The man says.
"What is Extreme Pokemon?" Mew asks.
The man says, "In ancient times, riding Pokémon was a necessity. Now it's reserved for the annual competition."
"What competition are you talking about, sir?" Tomo asks.
Then the man explains, "Each trainer rides a skateboard pulled by a special Pokemon in a race to the finish line. And tomorrow's the best part of the competition, the championship event. People come to watch the race from miles and miles."
"Gary!" Brock says.
"Hey, I wonder if he and his Arcanine will win tomorrow's competition," Misty says.
"Maybe, but it sounds exciting. I want to compete in it," Mew says.
"Count me in!" Tomo says.
"Me too!" Jen says.
But Misty says, "Uh, wait a minute, guys. Don't you need practice?"
"Misty's right, guys. The other trainers have been practicing for months and you don't even have any of the right equipment," Brock says.
Oh, yeah," Tomo says.
"And none of us has any skateboards," Jen says.
"Amaura," (Such a shame.) Amaura says.
But then the man says, "Tell me. Do you three really want to be in the competition that badly?"
"You bet we do!" The three say.
"In that case, I can help," The man says.
Later on, Mew and her friends are riding the man's Tauros pulled wagon.
The man says, "Allow me to introduce myself to you all. My name is Shelby, and I run a Pokémon day care here in these parts."
"My name's Mew," Mew says.
"I'm Misty," Misty says.
"I'm Brock," Brock says.
"My name is Tomo," Tomo says.
"I'm Jen," Jen says.
"And I'm Molly," Molly says.
"It's nice to meet you all," Mr. Shelby says.
"Mr. Shelby, what do you mean by day care?" Jen asks.
Mr. Shelby explains, "A day care is run by nesters who care for Pokemon eggs and protect the babies that hatch until they've grown big and strong enough to care for themselves."
"Wow, that sounds like it'd be a really tough job," Misty says. Soon she spots something, "Hey! Take a look at those baby Wooper down at the pond."
"Just hatched them last week," Mr. Shelby says.
"Aw, they're so adorable," Misty says.
"And they're having fun," Molly adds.
Then Brock says, "What a beautiful area with fresh and fertile soil. A perfect place to raise Pokémon."
It's probably because of that there have been nesters in these parts for years. That house there is a Pokemon day care, and look. That one, too," Mr. Shelby says.
Then Mr. Shelby points out the different daycares, "Years ago, when Pokémon fell sick and needed treatment, before there were cars and trains and such, it was a long, difficult journey into town.
"Hey, I bet that's how Extreme Pokémon got its start," Brock says.
That's exactly right," Mr. Shelby replies.
Soon, the group arrives at the Shelby Day Care.
Mr. Shelby calls out "Hi, honey! I'm back!"
And soon, Mr. Shelby's wife, Mrs. Shelby is there to greet them, "Welcome home. Ah, who's this?"
"Hello, ma'am," The group replies.
Mr. Shelby says, "These young folks here are Mew, Tomo, and Jen, and they're the latest entries in tomorrow's competition."
The three chuckles sheepishly.
"Really? Then best of luck," Mrs. Shelby says with a smile.
Leter, everyone is in the dining room.
And Tomo notices the Pokemon Eggs on the shelves, "Wow! Look at all those eggs!"
"These are all yours to take care of?" Brock asks.
"That's right," Mrs. Shelby says, and puts down the egg she was holding, "This one arrived only yesterday."
"Beautiful," Misty says.
"They all are," Mew says.
Mrs. Shelby happily says, "Thank you. We take great pride in our Pokémon eggs."
Soon, Mr. Shelby arrives with a Sentret in his arms, "Once they hatch, we raise some pretty strong Pokémon. Here, take a look at this little one."
The Sentret turns to greet everyone.
"It's a Sentret, "Misty says.
"How old?" Jen asks.
"It's only two days old," Mr. Shelby says.
Soon, some more infant Pokémon come in, including a Wooper, an Aipom, a Teddiursa and a Natu.
"Look at all of them!" Tomo says.
"They're so cute," Molly happily says.
Then Brock asks, "These are all yours, too?"
"Yes. This is our group of the little babies," Mrs. Shelby says.
Then Mr. Shelby says, "Come on, Mew, Tomo, Jen, why don't you come outside?"
Outside, the three see their gear
Mr. Shalby says, "They haven't been used in many years, but I bet these old skateboards are probably itching for a ride."
"Aweome!" Tomo says.
"So cool!" Jen says.
Then turns to Mew, "Thank you, Mr Shelby."
Soon, the three begin riding on the skateboards down the hill. Mew comes to a stop instantly. Tomo and Jen manage to stop but fall off the board.
"Guess we need more practice," Jen says.
"I think we'll get it," Tomo says.
"Say! Not too bad for your first time out, Mew," Mr. Shelby says.
"It's not exactly my first time," Mew says.
Mew then has a memory as she explains, "Gary used to teach me mountain boarding, out in the hills of Pallet Town. Of course, out on the lake, one of the Starmies let me surf with it down the river. It was a lot of fun."
"Yes, I can tell," Mr. Shelby says.
"Can we still practice?" Jen asks.
"Sure," Mew says.
Soon, everyone continues to practice on the board, and the three are having a great time.
"This is so much fun," Jen says.
"Yeah. This is exciting!" Me says.
"Can't wait for tomorrow," Tomo says.
The three to see a rock. Mew and Tomo soon turn, but Jen can't.
Mew turns back, "Jen, look out."
Mew is able to get Jen to move out of the way, but she ends up hitting the rock, shocking everyone.
Mr. Shelby cries out, "Oh no!
Everyone watches as Mew rolls downhill, until
"Go, Arcanine! Now block!" Gary appears.
Gary's Arcanine comes in at the bottom of the hill to save Mew from a terrible crash.
"Mew," Gary speaks out.
Mew sits up, "Gary.
"Have you finally lost it?" Gary questions.
But soon notices Mew's skateboard, "So. You just can't turn away from a challenge, can you?"
"Uh, nope," Mew says, then turns to Arcanine, "Thanks, Arcanine."
She gets up and turns to Gary, "And thank you, Gary. But don't think I'm gonna go easy on you when it's time to compete. Tomo and Jen are going to compete as well, do they don't expect to be taken easy either."
"Course not. You gotta give it all you've got. But there's still no chance of beating me. Me and Arcanine, that is," Gary says,
Both trainer and Pokémon soon ride away.
"Go, Arcanine!" Gary says.
Mew waves goodbye, "Bye Gary, see you tomorrow!"
Later, Mew explains what happened while Pikachu and the Pokemon ride on the boards.
"Arcanine, huh? Certainly a formidable opponent," Mr. Shelby says.
"Have each of you decided what Pokémon you're gonna use?" Misty asks.
"According to the rules, you're not allowed to switch Pokémon in the middle of the race," Brock says.
"That means I can only bring one with me. That's gonna be hard," Mew says, and begins to think.
"You're right," Jen says.
"Hmm…" Tomo replies.
Then Mr. Shelby says, "To win a competition, you must become one with your partner, so you must choose carefully. Character, trust, physical strength, there is much to consider."
Mew begins to think of an idea. Even Pikachu and Eevee volunteer.
"Sorry Pikachu. Eevee. But you're unable to pull me," Mew says.
Then Mew has an idea, "I know…" Then throws her Pokeball, "Come on out, Rapidash!"
And wirth that, Mew calls out her Galarian Rapidash.
"Wow. It's your Rapidash," Misty says.
"Haven't seen her in a while," Tomo says.
"Nice call," Brock says.
"Plenty of strength in that Rapidash Sure seems like you made a good choice," Mr. Shelby says.
"Thanks," Mew says.
Tomo brings out his Pokeball, "I know who I'm going to choose. Go Absol."
And Absol comes out.
"Good idea," Brock says.
Jen then calls out, "Go Zoroark!"
And Zoroark comes out.
"Looks like you all got great ideas," Misty says.
"Thanks," Mew says.
Then turns to the group.
"Alright everyone, time to practice," Mew says.
Everyone agrees and begins practicing for the race.
"Come on Rapidash!" Mew says.
"You're doing great, Absol!" Tomo says.
"Now we'll work on switching directions!" Jen says.
The three continue to practice with their Pokemon. Despite some hitches of falling off the boards, they get up and continue practicing. Unknown to them, Meowth from Team Rocket is secretly spying on them.
Seeing them, Meowth says, "Strange. Wonder what da twoips could be up to dis time," and suddenly, hears snoring, "Huh? What's dis?"
Meowth soon finds his teammates fast asleep
Meowth shouts, "Hey! Sleeping beauties!"
They both soon wake up.
"Do you have to shout?" Jessie asks.
"Try and keep your eyes open so yous can take a look!" Meowth says.
Soon, Jessie and James soon see Mew and the others practicing on their boards with their Pokemon.
"Look!" James says.
It's three little twerps on wheels," Jessie says.
Soon, James remembers, "Oh, I forgot. I received this little pamphlet on our way into town," and brings out the pamphlet.
Meowth reads it, "'De Extreme Pokemon Competition. Where Pokemon and trainer will become one competing with speed and power.' Final events, are tomorrow! I bet da twoips' competing!"
"Which means…" James says.
Then Jessie says, "Come tomorrow."
"Dis place is gonna be swarming with da fastest and da strongest Pokémon dere are!" Meowth says.
"And who will be there to catch em?!" James questions.
"Team Rocket will, dat's who," Meowth says.
But Jessie says, "Not quite. We'll be smarter this time. Instead of being too greedy, we'll simply capture, just one extreme Pokémon!"
"Wobbuffet!" (Excellent!) Wobbuffet says.
Jessie is soon calls Wobbuffet back into the Pokeball.
"What an extremely good idea!" James says.
"Exactly! We'll grab the first place winner, and then we'll cash it in for lots of money!" Jessie says.
Nice plan, Jess! We'll end up with more, by going for less!" Meowth says.
Then Wobbuffet appears again, "Wobb-uffet!" (Brilliant!)
Wobbuffet is promptly recalled once more
Well, then, what do you think?" Jessie questions.
James and Meowth cheer, "Hooray!"
Meanwhile, Brock is having a snack break while the Pokémon have lunch.
With his mouth full, Brock says, "Wow. Tasty. Soft centered. This Pokemon food is really great.
"Why, thank you," Mrs. Shelby says, "Your friends' Pokemon seem to be enjoying it, too."
"Thanks so much. You've taken such good care of us. Isn't that right, Sparkle?" Misty replies.
"Pika!" (I agree.) Sparkle says.
Meanwhile, Mew, Tomo, and Jen continue practicing, and they're all getting the hang of it.
Mr. Shelby notices them and calls out, "Hey, guys! I've got something to show you!"
"Mr. Shelby?" Mew replies.
Soon, the three comes to a stop.
"What is it?" Jen asks.
"I brought you this egg to practice with," Mr. Shelby says.
"What for?" Tomo asks.
Mr. Shelby explains, "It's called a dummy egg. Halfway through the race, you'll have to pick one up and carry it to the finish line."
Then passes each of them a dummy egg.
"Oh. Thanks," Mew says.
Then says, "You all really ought to be proud of yourself and all your hard work. You and your Pokemon are now working as a team. With that kind of determination, you may just see first place."
"Yeah," Tomo says.
"Well be sure to do our best," Mew says.
"And have a great time," Jen says.
And soon the three begin practicing with their Pokemon once more.
The next day, the day of the Extreme Pokémon Race, fireworks are seen going off.
Soon, the announcement kicks in, "And now, the town of Eggseter is proud to announce the moment you've all been waiting for! The finals to the Extreme Pokemon competition are about to begin! Today's winner will receive the coveted Golden Pokéball trophy. Now allow me to explain the rules of the competition. The winding course takes our courageous contestants out of town, through the Eggseter valley, and ending at the Shelby Ranch. There they will each receive a dummy egg, they must bring the egg back here to the starting line which then becomes the finish line. There is no set course from the ranch to the finish, to the contestants are free to choose their own route.
"I'll wait for you at the finish line, Mew," Gary says.
Mew grins, "That's not gonna happen, Gary."
"Yeah. We won't go easy on you," Tomo says.
"You can count on it," Jen says.
"I agree. Hope you two do your best out there," Gary says,
Soon, the announcer says, "The players have stepped up to the starting line! This is where all of the hard work and dedication finally pays off!"
The starting lights suddenly come on, and once they turn blue, the race is on.
Announcer: And they're off!
However, trouble strikes early as a Scyther starts gaining altitude until it pulls its trainer off the board and knocks him into two other trainers, creating a dust cloud that blinds and knocks out more racers.
Announcer: Whoa! This race is off to a rough start! Just out of the gate, we've got a major spill!
"Cross through it, Arcanine!" Gary calls out.
Mew calls out, "Go Rapidash!"
"Quick, run past them, Absol!" Tomo says.
"Keep running Zoroark!" Jen calls out.
Soon, the four trainers race through the dust cloud and join up with others who also made it through
Announcer: It looks like a group of competitors has just emerged from the wreck!
"That was close," Molly says.
"I'm glad Mew and the others were able to make it out," Misty says.
"Yeah," Brock says.
The Pokemon cheers.
Announcer: Our competitors have rounded the bend into the treacherously steep mountain section of the course!
"Okay, Arcanine, time to speed up!" Gary calls out.
"Rapidash, time to pick up some speed!" Mew calls out.
"Time to speed things up, Absol!" Tomo says.
"Be careful, Zoroark!" Jen calls out.
Announcer: Gary Oak holds a healthy lead, but wait, three late entries, Mew, Tomo, and Jen, are narrowing the gap!
The Pokemon cheers.
"How you doing, Gary?" Mew asks.
"Mew, guys," Gary says, "I was afraid I might have lost you guys in my dust. Well, nice to chat, but I've got a race to win! Arcanine, fly!"
"Don't let Gary get away, Rapidash!" Mew calls out.
Meanwhile, up above, Team Rocket watches.
Jessie chuckles, "Look at them go."
"Look at that, the twerp and her Rapidash are putting up quite a fight. And the jungle twrp along with his Absol, and the Prehistoric girl and her Zoroark," James says.
But Jessie says, "Who cares about them?"
"Yeah, dis time we're going after da big prize," Meowth says.
"Oh, that's right," James replies.
Then Jessie says, "And now…"
"Da prize we choose is…" Meowth adds.
Then James says, "Arcanine.
Under the balloon, a cannon emerges and fires a net, ensnaring Arcanine.
"No!" Gary cries out.
"Gary!" Mew calls out.
And Jen calls out, "Arcanine!"
As Arcanine is being pulled up by the net, Gary lands hard on the ground.
Mew stops and rushes to Gary, "Gary, are you okay?!"
"What just happened?!" Gary says.
Tomo looks up, "Look up there!"
Right on cue, Team Rocket laughs in triumph.
Jessie:
Prepare for trouble, up, up and away!
James:
Make it double, it's not a cliché!
Jessie:
To protect the world from devastation.
James:
To unite all peoples within our nation!
Jessie:
To denounce the evils of truth and love!
James:
To extend our reach to the stars above!
Jessie:
Jessie.
James:
James.
Jessie:
Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!
James:
Surrender now, or prepare to fight, fight, fight!
Meowth:
Daaat's right!
Wobbuffet:
Wooooo-Buh-Fett! ("Ooooh, so true!")
"Team Rocket!" Mew and Jen exclaim.
"Now that we have the most extreme of the extreme, we'll just be on our way," Jessie says.
And soon, Team Rocket begins to fly away.
"No!" Gary calls out.
"You see, being extremists ourselves, we normally would've tried stealing them all," Jessie says.
Then James says, "So it looks like you caught us, on a good day."
"Dat's extremely right," Meowth says.
Team Rocket continues flying away with Arcanine at tow.
Gary gives chase as Team Rocket laughs in triumph
"Come back here!" Gary calls out.
"Don't worry, Gary, we'll catch em!" Mew says.
Then turns to Rapidash, "Ready Rapidash?"
Rapidash nods to confirm.
Meanwhile, up ahead, Team Rocket laughs in triumph.
"That was a brilliant plan," Jessie says.
"Less is more and more is less," James says.
Then Meowth says, "Da boss is gonna be real proud dis time."
"Wobbuffet!" (He sure will!) Wobbuffet.
Suddenly, Mew's voice appears, "Team Rocket!"
Team Rocket looks back and Mew and Rapidash chasing after them.
"The twerp!" Jessie says.
"Here we go, Rapidash!" Mew calls out.
Soon, Rapdiash stops and whips Mew forward with the leash, allowing her to ride off the ramp and get some big air.
Team Rocket exclaims, "She's flying!"
Gary cries out, "Mew, look out!"
"Arcanine, go, now!" Mew calls out.
As leaps and grabs onto the balloon as the board punctures it, causing the balloon to lose altitude fast
Team Rocket cries out, "Team Rocket's blasting...!"
Meanwhile, back in the race
Announcer: The air is thick with anticipation here at the Shelby Ranch as we wait for our front runners to round the last curve!
Suddenly, Mr. Shelby notices something coming in from the sky, and coming in fast.
Announcer: Huh? What's this? What is this falling from the sky?
It's revealed to be the Team Rocket Meowth balloon with Mew hanging on for dear life before the balloon knocks out the camera as the announcer screams.
Announcer: A hot air balloon! But where did it come from?!
"Could it be?" Misty asks,
"Team Rocket," Brock says.
"Not them again," Molly says.
Soon, it revealed that the balloon has crashed next to the Shelby house.
"What on earth?" Mr. Shelby asks.
Mew soon emerges from the balloon.
""Mew!" Mr. Shelvy says, shocked and rushes to her, "Are you alright?!"
"I'm okay, but what about, Arcanine?" Mew says.
Arcanine shakes itself off, revealing to be just fine.
"Thank goodness," Mew says.
Then Mr. Shelby asks, "How did this happen, Mew?"
"Team Rocket," Mew answers, "They tried to capture Gary's Arcanine in the middle of the race.
Soon, Team Rocket comes out of the wreckage.
"Hey. We didn't just try, we DID capture it," Jessie says.
Yeah, for a minute," Mewoth adds.
Then Wobbuffet appears, "Wobbu!" (That's right!) with an egg on its head.
And Meowth notices, "Hey, Wob, what's that?"
Suddenly, James begins singing, "A tisket, a tasket, a Pokémon egg basket!"
And it is soon revealed that James is carrying some of the Pokémon eggs the Shelbys are caring for, which shocked Mew and the Shelbys.
"Hey!" Mew calls out, "Those are precious eggs that the Shelby family are supposed to be taking care of!"
"Really?" James replies.
Then Jessie says, "Well, we'll be taking care of them now."
"An' when dey hatch, guess what? All da baby Pokémon will be ours!" Meowth says.
Mew angrily says, "Give 'em back!"
"Sorry, twerp!" Jessie says and calls out, "Go, Arbok!"
Soon, Arbok comes out of the Pokeball and stares Mew down, but then Rapidash shows up.
"Rapidash!" Mew calls out.
Then says, "Use Psy Beam on Arbok!"
Rapdiash launches the attack.
"Arbok, use Poison Sting!" Jessie calls out.
Arbok launches the attack, but Rapidash dodges.
Then Jessie says, "Now, Arbok, Bite attack!"
Arbok then charges.
Suddenly, Gary calls out, "Arcanine, Take Down!"
"Absol, Quick Attack!" Tomo calls out.
Soon, Arcanine and Absol charges at Arbok.
Mew turns around, "Gary! Tomo! Jen!"
"Now what?!" Jame asks.
"Quick, let's scramble!" Jessie says.
Team Rocket quickly retreats.
Mrs. Shelby cries out, "Please, don't hurt the eggs!"
Jen calls out, "Zoroark, bring back the eggs Team Rocket stole!"
Zoroark then uses its agility abilities to stop Team Rocket in their tracks and take back all the baskets with the eggs.
"My basket!" James panics.
Then Gary calls out, "Arcanine, use Flame Wheel!"
Soon, Arcanine uses Flame Wheel and sends Team Rocket flying.
Team Rocket cries out, "We put all our eggs in one basket again!"
"Wow, that was cool!" Tomo says.
Then Gary says, "Mew, thanks a lot for helping out my Arcanine."
"It's no trouble," Mew says.
"But now, now we better get back to the race," Mew says.
"That's right, we're way ahead of the other racers," Tomo says.
Suddenly, Jen hears something, "Doesn't sound like for long.
And Jen is right, the other racers are starting to catch up,
"Uh oh. We better hurry," Gary says.
Yeah, they're starting to catch up with us," Mew says.
Soon, Mr. Shelby approaches with the dummy eggs, "Here are your dummy eggs. Now go back out there, and skate a good race."
"Thanks," Mew, Gary, Tomo, and Jen say.
Back at the start/finish line…
Announcer: And we're back with what has been an unusual day at the Extreme Pokémon event, but the race is on! Gary is in the lead with Mew only a Poké-length behind! And close behind her is Tomo holding a steady third place. And Jen is in fourth place.
"Well, Mew and the others are still hanging in there," Brock says.
"Either one of them could still win this race!" Misty says.
"Arcanine, now, speed up!" Gary calls out.
And Arcanone does so.
Mew calls out, "Faster, Rapidash! Stay right next to em!"
Rapidash does so.
"It's the narrowest part of the trail," Mew says, but soon notices, "Oh no. We'll never pass Gary here. There's gotta be a way."
Just then, Mew looks to her left and sees a ramp, "That's it."
Meanwhile, back with Gary…
Gary looks behind, "Looks like we lost Mew, but Tomo and Mew still with us. But, Mew didn't give up."
Suddenly, Mew's voice calls out, "Go, Rapidash!"
The three look in shock as Mew and Rapidash jump the ramp and land next to Gary and Arcanine
"Not bad," Gary says, somewhat impressed.
Mew says, "Last one there is…"
A rotten egg," Gary says.
Announcer: Never before in the history of Extreme Pokémon have we seen such daring, such cunning as the last move by Mew! And here they come down the home stretch! Folks, this race is right down to the wire!"
The race continues with Arcanone and Rapidash neck and neck.
Gary calls out, "Arcanine, the final sprint!"
Then Mew calls out, "Come on, Rapidash ! Let's give it all you've got!"
Both Pokemon soon push themselves as both are neck and neck.
Announcer: Rapidash and Arcanine are neck and neck! Racing toward the finish line in a dead heat! What competitors these young trainers are! But who will come out the champion?!
Gary calls out, "Now, dive for the goal!"
Arcanine takes a stride.
"That's it!" Gary says.
But then, Mew calls out, "Go, Rapidash! Big jump!"
Then Galarain Rapidash takes a big leap with everything she has, enough for her to win by a head in a photo finish, shocking Gary and surprising everyone else.
Announcer: We have a winner! In a splendid come from behind photo finish, it's Mew!"
Mew and Rapdiash smile to each other.
Announcer: What a race it has been, and what an achievement! Having beaten out Gary Oak, a powerful contender indeed!
Soon, Mew is standing on the winner podium with their prize.
Announcer: Mew has won the Golden Pokéball trophy, in his first Extreme Pokemon competition!
Everyone applauds
Later that evening…
"No regrets. You sure have raised yourself a great Pokémon," Gary says.
"Thanks, Gary," Mew says.
"See ya at the Johto League," Gary says.
"Great! I hope so!" Mew says.
Pikachy, Eevee, and Galarian Rapidash say their goodbyes.
"So long!" Mew calls out.
Just then, Mr. Shelby calls out, "Mew!
Everyone looks and sees Mr. Shelby carrying an egg in a case.
Mr. Shelby," Mew replies.
Mrs. Shelby says, "We can't thank you enough for watching out for our eggs."
"This here is a very special Pokémon egg and, well, it's... It's for you," Mr. Shelby says and hands the egg to Mew.
"You got an egg," Molly says.
"What kind of egg is it?" Misty asks.
"It's a secret," Mr. Shelby says.
Mr. Shelby then says, "When it hatches, you should use the Pokéball on top of the case to catch it with."
"Cool! I will! Thanks," Mew says.
Soon, Mew and the others depart.
Mr. Shelby calls out, "You all take care now!"
"See you soon!" Mrs. Shelby calls out.
Mew and the others take their leave as they head off to the next part of their journey, and with another Pokemon Egg waiting to hatch.
