The Unstoppable Batman

Issue 1: A New Path pt. 1

"THE DIABLO'S ARE EVIL!" The shout cut through the music being played through the Middleton High School gymnasium. All eyes turned toward the exit to see a clumsy blonde teen tripping and wrapping himself up in a balloon arch at the doorway. The boy quickly worked to get himself untangled while continuing to talk rapidly about the diablo toys. Finally, after freeing himself the boy, Ron Stoppable, looked up and around the gymnasium.

The lights had been brought up and he could see that every eye in the room was trained on him, both teens and chaperones. Scanning the room quickly he saw that he had drawn stupefied expressions from most of his classmates, but none of that mattered. Ron kept scanning the crowd looking for the one person that could help him in this moment. Finally, he spotted the redhead in the back near the punch bowl and snack table along with her date for the evening. Ron quickly shot through the crowd rather deftly dodging around the people that were too slow to move out of his way on his own.

"Kim we gotta get going, like right now." Ron blurted out after getting to his best friend. Ron took a moment to catch his breath and take in the sight of his best friend. Even as tired and amped up on adrenaline as he was at the moment, he still took notice that Kim Possible was as breath taking as ever. Her dress was simple and elegant and so was the stylish way that she had made up her hair for the night. And the small amount of makeup that Kim had applied did wonders to highlight her face, though Ron had always felt that she looked amazing without any outside help at all.

"Drakken is behind the whole thing he… Uh K.P.?" Ron noticed that Kim's eyes were scanning the rest of the gym. Ron turned his head and noticed that while everyone still had their eyes trained on him now, many of them had begun to whisper and mutter amongst themselves. A few of them even were pointing at Ron and possibly at Kim as well. Ron shook his head and then reached over and grabbed Kim's hands.

"Okay, I know that this sounds nuts but just come outside and look." Kim and Ron locked eyes for a brief instant before Ron proceeded to half-drag-half-lead Kim to the door that Ron had just burst through. Upon reaching the door Ron proceeded to throw both the doors open and then dramatically waved his hands. "See they're totally…"

Ron then turned his head to look around outside and noticed that there was nothing out of the ordinary at all. It was simply an average school parking lot just like it was any other day of the week. Ron could only finish weekly, "…Evil."

Ron was just about to begin searching the ground hoping that the miniature killer robots could not have gotten too far. When suddenly Ron heard the sounds of laughter erupt from just behind them.

"Oh my god. This is too great." Bonnie Rockwaller was at the exit and was watching Kim and Ron with a sadistic mirth in her eyes and unable to repress her laughter. Ron blinked momentarily forgetting about the machines that had chased him halfway across Middleton and looked over at Kim. The red heads face had turned a deep enough shade of crimson to match her hair and she had her face turned down to the ground. "I mean seriously Kim your little lap dog here couldn't go a single night without showing up and having to get attention from his master. You really have to work on his training regimen."

This last quip drew laughter not just from Bonnie but many of the other students that had drawn closer to the door to see what was going on. Ron shook his head once again and started to sputter and stammer. "No. I'm telling you there was like a little psychotic killer army of them right out heeeerre."

Ron's ramble was quickly cut short as Kim grabbed his wrist and dragged him back into the gym. She quickly strode through the throngs of teenagers and made her way to the double doors leading to the school hallway. She then slammed to door open before yanking her friend into the hallway behind her before making one last comment to a dark-skinned girl who was close to the door. "Monique, make sure that we're not disturbed. Please and thank you."

Ron took a moment to look around at the empty dark hallway and the rows and rows of lockers. He wasn't sure why but this school really creeped him out at night for some reason that he couldn't quite put his finger on. Ron quickly reminded himself of the weight of the situation and focused back on Kim. "Ok so look I was at Bueno Nacho and while I was there, I found out…"

"Stop Ron." Kim's voice wasn't a yell, but it was loud enough to cut the blonde boy off. Kim then leaned her head back and put both hands over her face, before she started taking deep slow breaths to try and calm herself down. Ron was taken aback by Kim's reaction and stood silently waiting for his best friend to collect herself. Ron began to rub the back of his neck as Kim finally lowered her hands and looked at Ron with frustration clearly showing in her face and voice.

"You have got to stop all this Ron now. I'm done with it." Ron tried to comprehend what Kim was saying.

"I have to stop what K.P.?"

"This Ron." Kim gestured to him with her right hand and then quickly made a sweeping gesture toward the gym door where all their classmates were waiting behind. "You have been acting more and more irrational for weeks now and I'm just… I'm… I'm done with it, Ron."

Ron blinked. "Wait, what are you talking about."

Kim took another deep breath before continuing. "Ever since we got back from Japan, ever since Eric and I got together you've just been acting more and more… erratic. Look I understand that you don't like change. I understand that me hanging out more with Eric and having less time to spend with you sucks. I get that your favorite place in the world changing their menu and adding kids' toys sucks. But this Ron…"

Kim stepped closer to Ron so close that there were no more than a few scant inches between their noses. Ron felt his heart seem to skip a beat in his chest at how close she had just gotten to him before she continued with her speech. "…this was supposed to be my night. The one night where I don't have to be the girl that can do everything. Where I don't have to be the girl that goes around and drops everything to fight some nutcase trying to take over the world. One FREAKING night Ron where I don't have to be anything other than a regular girl. Who actually got a really nice, hot guy to take her to Prom and I don't have to be anything else."

A silence filled the space between the two teens for a few moments before being broken by steady beats from music that had again begun playing from within the gym. The noise barely even registered in Ron's mind as he took in what his best friend had said to him. "Kim... I get that this is important to you I really do. But I swear to you I'm not making this up."

Kim let out an exasperated sigh and threw her hands up into the air. "Seriously Ron why can't you just…"

"Call Wade." Kim looked at Ron for a moment.

"What?"

"Call Wade." He's the one that patched me through to Bueno Nacho HQ. Wade has one of those diablo toys. He can scan it or something, he can back me up." Kim raised an eyebrow at Ron as he began pleading with her. "Seriously Kim, I swear that I'm not lying or trying to get attention here. Just check with Wade it'll take you like a minute at most."

Kim turned her head toward the doors back to the dance. Her Kimmunicator was in her purse on a table in there, and in truth she knew that Ron was right. One phone call to the boy genius would put this entire thing to rest and would prove whether or not Ron was lying to her. Kim simply stared at the doors for a few seconds before turning and walking toward them.

"Great, call Wade and he'll tell you that I'm not making thi…"

"Go home Ron." Ron stopped dead in his tracks.

"What?" Kim stopped with her hand on the door ready to go back to her dance. She turned and sadly looked her best friend in the eyes.

"Go home Ron. I'm not going to do this not tonight. I'm not gonna feed into your anxiety and let it ruin this night for me. I'm sorry. Look I have to go back Eric is waiting for me." As Kim began opening the door to the gym she was stopped by Ron's next words.

"Are you kidding me." Kim turned. A few moments ago, Ron had been pleading with her to believe his story and desperate, now his brows were furrowed and he was now the frustrated one. "You're really going to ignore me on this."

"Ron, I…"

"No. No, stop." Ron surprised Kim by raising his voice and cutting her off which only began to make the red head even more frustrated with the situation.

"Look Kim. I'll admit that the last few weeks I haven't been at my best. I've been going crazy and yes, I don't like the way things have been changing. And I'm completely terrified that we might be starting to grow apart and I've been acting like a bit of a loon. Okay, I totally one hundred percent will own up to that. But I swear to you that this has nothing to do with that, Drakken is really behind this and if all of those toys he's been giving out are robots too that means that he has an army all over the world that he can use anytime he wants." Ron took a breath.

"I get all that and I'm sorry for how I've been acting okay. But if all our years of friendship ever meant anything. If all those missions and the times we've watched each other's backs meant anything at all, please believe me. Even if this is the last time, please believe me K.P." Ron stepped forward and took Kim's hands in his own and looked as deeply as he could into her eyes. Knowing that despite everything that she would believe him in the end, they were best friends, they had always had each other's backs and this would be no different.

"Go home Ron." Kim firmly stated. Looking Ron dead in the eyes as she removed her hands from his and turned to head back into the gym. Ron stood in the hallway dumbstruck for several moments his mind unable to process what had just happened. She had walked away from him, when he needed her the most when he was begging her to help to believe him, she had walked away.

Ron moved to the door and looked through the glass pane and into the gym. He watched as his classmates mingled, danced and laughed without a care in the world. His eyes scanned through the flashing lights trying to locate Kim in the crowd and finally he did find her. She was sitting at a table in the far back next to a handsome looking young man in a white tux. Ron wanted nothing more than to run in there and grab the kimmunicator to call Wade to force her to see the truth. But instead, he turned and started walking down the dark hallway toward another exit. With a single thought rattling around in his mind over and over again.

She hadn't believed him.

"You're certain that Kim Possible is still at the dance?" Drakken asked Shego for the fourth time in as many minutes.

"For the last time Doc. Yes, the princess is still dancing the night away at her little dance. Our man on the inside just told me. And if you ask me again you won't be in any shape to ask anything for at least a month." Shego who had been leaning back in a swivel chair in their command center filing her nails lit up her hands with flaming green plasma to emphasize her irritation to her employer. Drakken didn't even seem to notice the threat as his nerves seemed to have been calmed.

"I thought for sure that my plan was about to be ruined after I got that call from the buffoon and he recognized me." Drakken rubbed his temples for a moment collecting his thoughts. "No matter the buffoon is no threat to me on his own. And so long as Kim Possible is occupied we should be alright."

"Sounds good Dr. D" Shego chimed in nonchalantly. Though in honesty she was actually impressed by this plan. The Doc had actually played everything seemingly flawlessly for once, he even managed to keep the princess occupied so that the plan would go off without a hitch. Though Shego did have one small regret.

"Got to admit though I am a little disappointed that there's gonna be no resistance. Fighting the princess is a lot better a workout, than anything you can get in a gym." Drakken rolled his eyes.

"As much as I'm sure that you would enjoy that, we're too close to allow anything to jeopardize our plans now." Shego again raised an eyebrow at the mad scientist.

"What about the buffoon. He knows what's going on." Drakken let out a hearty laugh and Shego herself even smirked mirthfully at her own question.

"Oh, thank you Shego I needed a laugh after that little scare. But the buffoon is of no importance, without Possible he can do nothing." Drakkens laughter died down but the smile didn't leave his face. However, after contemplating for a moment Drakken called out to one of his henchmen in the control room.

"Activate ten percent of Diablos in the Middleton area." Shego and the henchmen looked at the doctor quizzically.

"Sir?" Drakken folded his arms behind his back and explained.

"Just to be safe we need to make sure that there's no one that the buffoon can go to for help. Activate the diablos and have them surround the high school and enclose it in an electromagnetic shield. That will cut Kim Possible off from all communication, we wouldn't want anyone else to try ruining her night. Send another unit to the headquarters of Global Justice. Then send a number of them to the house of that kid who helps them over the phone. And a few to the Possible house."

"And the buffoon sir." One of the henchmen asked.

"Again he's of no consequence on his own. He never has been" Drakken then turned around and headed back to his office. Leaving his henchmen to carry out their orders and Shego to her nails.

Kim leaned up against the punch table back in high school gymnasium waiting for Eric to return from the restroom. Kim was pleased that most everyone had gone on about the night as if Ron had never shown up, she was grateful for that.

"Hey girl." Kim turned to see Monique heading toward her, she gave her friend a smile as she approached.

"Hey, Mon. How's your night going?" Monique shrugged.

"Oh, you know fending the boys off best I can." Both girls chuckled. "But I'm kind of surprised that you're still here."

Kim gave Monique a strange look. "What do you mean where would I be?"

Monique raised an eye brow. "Well Ron did just come in here talking about killer robots and the Dracula guy trying to take over the world. Usually when something like that comes up you tend to bounce out pretty quick."

Kim pinched the bridge of her nose. "Ron is just being dramatic Mon. He's been acting like that for weeks. This is just the latest and biggest."

Monique looked uneasy and began rubbing her arm. "Look Kim, I know Ron can overreact to certain things from time to time. But I don't know if he would lie about something like this."

Kim let out a small groan. "He is Mon trust me."

Monique then asked a familiar question. "Can't you ask Wade to check it out."

"That's exactly what Ron said." Kim admitted just loud enough for her friend to hear. Monique then placed a hand on Kim's shoulder.

"Look it's you call but you might wanna, you know, make that call. I really don't think that Ron would make something like that up." Monique then was called away back to the dance floor leaving Kim alone with her thoughts. Her eyes drifted over to her purse sitting on a table a few yards from her. Kim knew it would only take a moment to call wade and have him debunk Ron's insane story, and for a moment she decided to do just that.

But then she caught sight of Eric making his way through the crowd on his way back to her. Catching his eye Eric gave a beaming smile to Kim that seemed to make her melt, and her thoughts about checking in with the boy genius were completely forgotten.

"Hey sorry it took a bit I had to check in with my dad." Eric explained as he wrapped his arm around Kim and lead her back out to the dance floor.

"Everything okay?" Kim asked as Eric began twirling her around.

"Oh yeah, he's just working on this big project and tonight's the deadline. Just wanted to make sure he was doing okay." Kim twirled herself back toward Eric and fell into his chest. Eric wrapped his arms around the girl as she smiled up at him.

"Well, aren't you such a sweet caring son." Kim then twirled back out away from Eric. Turning away just in time to miss a look of annoyance and anger flash across Eric's handsome features.

"Oh, I try to be." Kim and Eric kept dancing and all thoughts of anything else left Kim's mind.

The front door of the Stoppable household opened with a creek as a crestfallen Ron entered into the darkness of his home. Ron barely took note of the silence and darkness that permeated the house, it wasn't uncommon for Ron to come home and find that his parents were still at work. Ron switched on the lights for the living room before walking over and sinking down into the leather couch.

At this point Rufus, Ron's pet and the fourth member of Team Possible took the opportunity to hop out of the pocket of Ron's cargo pants. The naked mole rat scampered up onto the coffee table in front of the couch and looked sadly at his friend. Rufus had been hiding from the Diablo's during the chase throughout Middleton and then he had remained hidden when things had gotten heated between Ron and Kim. Now Rufus wasn't sure what he could do to help Ron.

"Hnkk. Ron?" Ron's eyes which had been staring absently into the space in front of him turned downwards at the sound. The mole rat and the boy stared at each other for several seconds before a sad smile was forcefully pressed onto the boy's face.

"It's okay buddy." Ron reached out and scooped up Rufus and slowly pet him as he leaned back onto the leather seat. Rufus could tell that the boy was still upset and was not fooled by the smile that Ron was putting on. "Truth is… Kim wasn't wrong."

Rufus tilted his head to the side at Ron's sudden admission. Ron sighed before continuing. "I have been acting immature. I know that we're getting older. I know that things are going to have to change… I guess I just thought… or hoped that I had more time. That Kim and I changing meant that we might get closer you know."

Rufus nodded his head. "Maybe that was just wishful thinking huh. I guess when I look at everything together, I can understand why Kim doesn't believe or want to believe."

Ron let out another long sigh and a more genuine but sad smile. "She does deserve to have this night. Her one perfect night that she wanted. I can't even really blame her I mean Drakken's plan really was so, so out there. I mean I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't…"

Suddenly Ron's eyes shot wide open. He then bolted straight up to his feet, causing Rufus to jump down returning to the coffee table. "OH, CRAP! THE DIABLOS!"

Ron then bolted back toward the front door of his home his mind racing trying to find a solution to his predicament. "Kim didn't believe me. But I've got Wade, and the Doctor's P's and Global Justice. They can help right Rufus."

Rufus gave an affirmative squeak as Ron flung the front door wide open and raced out not bothering to close it behind him. Ron was able to race a few yards from his front door before Ron stopped dead in his tracks. Rufus Slammed into the stilled boy's foot and then scrambled up to the boy's shoulder and upon looking out before them was just as paralyzed as Ron.

From the front yard of the Stoppable home, it was easy to see the home of their neighbors the Posibble's. And even a blind man would have a hard time missing the two very large Diablos that had burst through the roof of the possible home. Ron was about to start running toward the house to try and assist his second family, before the home and the Diablos were in cased in a glowing blue dome of light.

Ron wasn't by any means a science whiz but he had been around supervillains and their tech long enough that he could recognize a force field when he saw one. Ron then spun his head around and noticed that there was another glowing blue dome off in the distance, it took only a moment for Ron to realize that it was in the direction of Wade's house. Ron then ran over to a large tree in his yard and climbed up the branches as quickly as he could.

From the top of the tree Ron had a decent view of the surrounding area. He confirmed that the glow seemed to be another force field around the Load house. He then took notice of two other glowing fields that were lighting up the city. One seemed to be coming from the direction of the high school, and the other seemed to be coming from an area that as far as Ron knew was an abandoned old factory. At first this made no sense but then the boy's experience with the Doctor over the years kicked in and he realized that this was Drakken trying to cut off any one that might be able to foil his plans. The Possible's, Wade, Kim at the school and, Ron assumed, that the final field was cutting off Global Justice.

"Aw, crap Rufus. Drakken is really on top of his game this time." Ron moved quickly back down the tree, returning to ground level and retreating back into his home. After shutting the door behind him Ron leaned his back against it slunk down to the floor. "He's gotten K.P., the Docs, Wade and G.J. there's no one left that can go after him."

Ron sat in silence on the floor for a moment, before Rufus scurried onto his knee and snapped his paws to get the blondes attention. Ron looked at his friend who had a look of determination on his face. "What is it Ruf?"

"Someone stop Drakken." Rufus replied with conviction. Ron tilted his head to the side and shrugged his shoulders.

"Who?" Rufus smacked his own head for a moment. Before fixing Ron with another look and pointing at the boy.

"Ron." Ron's eyes widened at what Rufus declaration to him. As Ron was about to raise a protest to his friend Rufus cut him off. "Step up, hnkk."

Ron tried to find some counter to what Rufus was saying. The police or the FBI could probably be called to handle this. Then again, they would probably laugh Ron off or if they did believe him, he wasn't sure if they were prepared for killer robots. Ron desperately tried to come up with an alternative, yet none came to him.

"I guess it's up to me huh." Rufus nodded with as much conviction and confidence in Ron as ever.

The only thought passing through the blonde's head at the moment was…

'Oh, we are royally screwed.'

That's the first chapter (or issue) of the Unstoppable Batman. Hope you all enjoyed.
