Undertale: Whispers of Patience

(Fanfiction)

Prologue: The Fall

"The golden blossoms' roots plunge deeply into the rich soil below." That's why you'll find plenty of them in the forest and villages—they soak up the life around them, much like weeds thriving on a sunny summer day. Their petals shine with a golden brilliance, reflecting the sunlight, and their roots reach down into the hidden depths beneath the earth.

That's why I climbed the mountain, driven by the curiosity to uncover the hidden mysteries. People often talked about it in hushed tones—the tales of monsters and creatures lurking in the depths, stories brushed aside by the adults who thought children couldn't comprehend such things. But I always listened. I wanted to confirm, with my own eyes, what was concealed beneath the ground I walked on.

As the sun kissed the horizon, I set out on a journey from my peaceful village, craving something beyond its tranquility. I wasn't exactly prepared, dressed in my beloved ensemble—a blue dress with a charming diamond-checkered pattern. The sleeves puffed, hidden beneath my sleeveless white jacket. I fastened my favorite red ribbon in my poofy blonde hair, stealing a quick look in the mirror before venturing out. My eyes, my mother often compared them to the sky, nurtured by the presence of clouds.

I reached the mountaintop just as twilight began to spread its shadows. The climb had taken hours, but I emerged victorious, facing the mysterious entrance of the cave. It seemed like there was nothing beyond, but undaunted, I forged ahead into the abyss. Little did I know, those roots that had reached deep into the earth below had been unearthed. They caught me by surprise as I walked, I had tripped on one of them, propelling me into the deep darkness of the pit before me.

I fell, and it felt like an eternity, though in reality, it was just a brief moment, meeting the ground with a swift thud. There was no soft landing, and I ended up face-first on the yielding earth. I stayed there for a moment, thinking about the possibility of my death. Eventually, I raised my head, only to be greeted by a stark landscape of pillars and the sharp black rock forming the walls.
