"It's going to be another girl."

"No, it's a boy. I just know it."

That was the discussion every night before bed for the Drake parents, who were anxiously awaiting the birth of their second child.

"Her name is going to be Paulina."

Paul Drake, who was about to be called Paul Sr, said to which his wife – Gertie Drake giggled and said,

"His name is going to be Paul – after his Daddy."

Paul smiled and hugged his wife,

"This baby is going to be well loved. No matter what."

Gertie nodded with a beaming smile and cooed to baby Drake, giggling while kicks ensued.

"Yes, little one. You're so loved already."

Paul laughed,

"She's an active little girl, isn't she?"

Gertie giggled – too tired to play the game as they snuggled together and fell asleep.

But Baby Drake had other plans, Gertie was up almost every hour due to the baby moving in weird positions throughout the night… along with what Gertie sensed were contractions.

The time was 2:30 am when Gertie decided to get up,

"Ooh, little one. I think you're ready to come and meet us."

She winced after another wave of pain hit her.

It was then she knew that she was in labor.

Luckily for her, both Paul and Wendy were able to stay asleep for a few more hours.

"Mama?"

Wendy asked after seeing Gertie breathe through a contraction… after she woke up and padded to the living room.

"Gert?"

Paul asked before she nodded while breathing through the same contraction while Wendy and Paul went to snuggle with her,

"How long have you been in labor?"

"Few hours now, I didn't want to wake either of you."

Paul sighed and hugged his wife,

"You could've woke me up…"

"I'm fine. The baby's fine. I'd rather labor at home before we need to head to the hospital."

Gertie replied with a smile before kissing him, while Wendy tried to get a hug from her Mama.

"Oh, Wendy girl… Baby brother or sister is on their way. We love you darling."

The family sat there for a few hours, not moving while Gertie labored a little longer…

Around noon that day,

"… Paul? Call Perry and Della, have them bring Perry Jr over to play with Wendy. It's time to head to the hospital…"

Gertie said after a stronger contraction ended before Paul raced to the phone placing the call,

"Della, it's time. Bring Perry and the baby with you."

Della replied that they were on their way before Gertie cried out in pain,

"Ow!"

Paul rushed to her side,

"This baby's ready… Oh, it hurts!"

Gertie whimpered before Paul held her close,

"Just wait until you're holding our second daughter in your arms."

Gertie giggled at that.

"No, it's going to be a boy silly."

Paul smiled and once they were in the car,

"Just breathe, Gert."

He coached while Gertie's contraction started coming closer and closer together.

"Oh!"

Gertie winced after a few contractions as her water broke… they were just driving into the hospital parking lot.

"OK, Mrs. Drake, things are moving now. Expect to be holding your baby in a few hours now that your water broke, you're 6 cm dilated."

The doctor said once he checked her for the first time to which Gertie nodded while riding out a contraction.

"You did good, darling."

Paul said with a smile once the contraction was over before Gertie smiled,

"I can't wait to meet our son."

Paul smiled while they snuggled for about an hour before Gertie began to push instinctively which sent Paul running to get the doctor,

"OK, Mrs. Drake. This baby's ready to come. Just keep pushing."

The doctor encouraged before everything became a blur to Gertie while she continued to push as nurses, along with Paul began to coach her along.

After what felt like an eternity for our Mama – she was finally able to hear the sound which brought tears to her eyes.

Her baby's cry.

"We have a son, Gert. You were right. It's a boy!"

Paul cooed happily before they kissed while their son was being initially cleaned.

"Here he is, Mama."

A nurse cooed handing the crying boy to Gertie who smiled as her son's cries softened the moment he was in her arms.

"Hi, Paul. We're so happy to finally meet you."

Paul Jr cooed softly before opening his eyes to smile at his parents.

"He's going to break a lot of hearts."

Paul said which got the nurses laughing,

"Like someone else we know!"

Once Gertie was cleaned up and baby Paul Jr was back with his parents,

"Hello…"

Della cooed bringing in Wendy before Paul took his daughter in his arms, walking her over to baby Paul's bassinet,

"This is Paul, your little brother, Wendy."

Wendy looked at her brother with a look of adoration, as if she'd loved him her entire life.

Both parents looked at each other with gentle smiles while the new family of four enjoyed the quiet moment and counted their blessings.
