Halves To Hold
Chapter 5
I say they're just the ones who gave me life.
I can run, but I can't hide
From my family line.
I made it inside and upstairs. While our kids were downstairs.
The reality was we made it a point to keep our children unaware of what was really going on.
It was better that way. Easier and gave us a chance to figure it out ourselves.
I found you in bed. With the windows covered and you're feet up.
You're eyes closed. The cafe uniform hung neatly on the closet door front. Nearby you're work shoes.
"Hard day. How can i make it better.?" I asked. Climbing into bed beside her.
Brooke took the sleep mask off her face. Sighed deeply. And looked up at me.
"I feel alot older then 32. This job was supposed to be temporary."
"I thought i would have a fashion line. See the world."
"Have billboards with my face on it. Red carpets."
"I don't regret any of this. I just." Brooke confessed.
"I know. You don't need to explain or defend yourself to me."
"When i'm working late at the body shop. Or have endless lines of customers. I didn't envision this life for myself but i wouldn't take it back." Lucas replied.
"That car she wants. We can't afford to get her that. I mean. That's just the truth." Lucas added in.
"We could get her a car but it wouldn't be what she wants."
"And knowing her it means she won't want it all." Brooke said.

Beckett was downstairs. Reading one of his favorite books.
While he ate a snack. All before starting his homework of course.
Beverly wanted to get a jump start on the homework she did have.
That way she could enjoy her break to the fullest. Without worrying about anything.
Meanwhile Scarlett was now in the backyard. After going through the kitchen back door.
Clutching her cellphone. "Pick me up at 11. My parents won't be up until at least 7 in the morning." Scarlett confirmed.
