"Sierra, Chad step away from your love life, I repeat step away. All right! It's time to leave for Cheer Camp! Get in the bus now, or we're leaving you behind! Go, go, go!" The cheerleaders scramble to get into the bus. Mia spots Jess."Hurry up, Jess! Move your ass!"

"Yes." A few hours later, Jess get off the bus at a well-maintained lakeside campground.

"This is SO nice! Look... they even built fake 'pom' trees... out of pom-poms!" Mia smiled

A perky woman hands Sierra a welcome packet full of information. "Oh wow! Even the welcome packet is bedazzled!"

Mia: "This is my kind of place!" Mia smiles

"Apparently you're not the only one who feels that way... look how many people showed up! I didn't even know this many cheerleaders existed in the world!"

"No mosquitos. No gross cabins. No hungry bears... this is going to be the best camp ever!" Sierra reads through the welcome packet. "Wow... listen to this. There are going to be workshops on cheering and tumbling and at the end of the week, there's going to be a huge cheer-off and the winner get an awesome MYSTERY PRIZE!"

"Mystery prizes are my favorite kind of prize!" Mia smiles

"Then I guess we'd better win!" said Jess

"Oh, we will... but now... it's almost time for the Welcome Banquet!" Sierra smile

"Great! After that long bus trip, I'm super hungry!" Jess stomach rumble

" Not so fast... before we eat, we have to perform a welcome cheer. We'll need to pick three volunteers to perform!" Sierra pointed

At the banquet, Mia prepares the squad for their welcome cheer. "Okay, everyone. We're going classic here. Keep it light, keep it fun."

"Sounds good!" Sierra smiled

"Yeah! I can't wait to see what everyone else's cheers are like!" Chad smiled

From across the banquet hall, Kara glares at the cheerleader team

The other schools each take their turns performing simple cheers.

Mia: "This is fun! Look at all the new styles different teams are using!"

Uma: "I love how the Belleview Belles added ballet moves into their routine!"

Channing: "But I'm not sure about the Lincoln Lions' use of twerking... I'm pretty sure twerking is over."

Finally, it's the team's turn to perform. Jess watches the cheerleader perform

"Let's show them our stuff!" As the intro to the music plays, Mia starts off the cheer. "Who's the best cheer team around?"

"It's us by far, we're the best in town!" Amelia cheers

"I'm Mia, and I lead the troop." Mia cheers

"I'm Amelia, and I'm the loudest in the group." Amelia cheer

"Sierra here..." Sierra calls

"And Chad as well." Chad calls

"Listen to us as we yell!" Sierra shout

"Go, team, go!" Amelia cheers

"Go, fight, win!"

Mia, Sierra, and Chad perform a fun, routine full of coordinated dance moves, jumps, and pom pom shaking!

"Yeah! Good job, everyone!" Jess claps

"Cute little routine, Mia... now why don't you take a seat and watch some REAL cheerleaders!" Kara smirked

The Hearst High team begins their routine. First, Kara does a standing backflip and then performs a series of cartwheels and roundoffs.

"We never did anything this elaborate when I was on the squad... when did she learn to do that?" Mia asked

From there, the routine only gets more and more impressive.

Uma: How are they all jumping so high?

Channing: They can ALL do the splits? I need to stretch more.

As Kara's team finishes their routine, she walks by Jess and Mia and shoots them both a smile. "Consider yourself on notice, Mia. My team is at the top of the pyramid. You guy are on the bottom rung. But I guess you're used to being on the bottom rung, aren't you, Mia?"

She walks away, smiling as Mia glares at her.

"Don't let it get to you, Mia. Pyramids don't even have rungs!" Sierra pointed

"Thanks, Sierra... and I'm not worried. By the end of this week, we'll be even better than Hearst! Now who wants to eat?" Mia asked

"I think I lost my appetite..." Jess sighs

"Maybe it's good if we don't eat too much... we've got tumbling practice right after the meal!" Sierra pointed

"Heh. Yeah. It's definitely a bad idea to do cartwheels on a full stomach..." Jess chuckled

Jess, Mia, and the other cheerleaders arrive at tumbling practice. Sierra greets Jess. "I talked with the camp counselor in charge of tumbling. They've crated a routine that we're going to learn and follow."

"Sounds easy enough." Mia smiled

Channing: "I'm not so sure about that one." Channing points to the routine the lead counselor is demonstrating with her assistants. Cheerleaders spin in dizzying circles, cartwheeling and flipping in sync to the music!

"Gulp!" Sierra gulped

"No! We've got this. Let's just watch them VERY closely." said Mia

The routine ends, and Jess jaw drops. "Did you get all of that?"

"Kind of..." said Sierra

"Nope!" Chad shakes his head

"I've got it. Chad, you lead the other cheerleaders on the roundoff-back handspring-back tuck across the floor. Amelia, we're going to do the stunt. You're going to toss me into the air, got it?"

"Yep!" Amelia nod

The cheerleading team is called up to perform the routine. The music starts up! Chad and the other cheerleaders start the routine off! "Yeah! Go, team!"

Mia nods at Amelia

"Let's do this! Up you go" Amelia brace Mia, supporting her as she shoots up into the air! She smiles and waves, but it throws you off balance! Amelia balance! Amelia and Mia hold your positions until Char and the other cheerleaders have finished tumbling and pose! Everyone watching claps!

"We did it!" Mia smiled

Sierra returns to the group after getting an evaluation sheet from the counselors. "The counselors loved the work! They said we had a lot of talent! Great job, guys!"

Mia: "All right! Let's make sure we keep this energy up through the end of the week! We'll show Hearst who's boss!"

Just then, Kara passes the cheerleader team. "Trust me, it's going to take a lot more than a canned routine to beat the best cheerleading team in the district. But it's always good to reach for the impossible. You've really come a long way from being my second-in-command."

"I wouldn't look so smug, Kara. We have something you don't. We have heard and determination." said Mia

"Ha ha ha! Well, that's a weak second to innate talent and tight routines, that's for sure. See you later, Mia." Kara sneered

"Ugh! She's so smarmy. We've got to beat her in the next activity. Sierra, what's next on the agenda?"

"S-H-O-P! What does that spell?" Sierra asked

"Shop! We're going shopping?" Mia squeals

"Well, technically, it's a cheer WORKshop... but that's nearly the same thing, right?" Sierra asked

Jess, Mia, and Payton walk to an outdoor area where a counselor is leading a seminar on cheering. A short time later, the cheerleader split into their smaller school groups.

"You heard the counselor. We have a little time to make our own cheer before we perform it in front of the group." said Jess

"Let's make a good one. I want to wipe that stupid smile off Kara's face." said Mia

"Yes! I can help! I cheer for no reason!" Sierra cheered

"The counselor said a good cheer has three things: it's short, it's easy to understand, and it encourages the crowd to interact with you." said Mia

"Sounds easy enough..." said Jess

"Then let's start brainstorming!"

Jess write down Mia's and Sierra ideas...

"And finally, we should talk about how we're the best!" Sierra pointed

"Well, that goes without saying!" said Mia

"I like it. Now we should write this up..." said Jess

"What kind of tone do we want to go for? Funny or serious?" Sierra asked

"Hmmm, I don't know. It could be either. Jess, what do you think?" Mia asked

"Let's go for serious." Jess finish writing their cheer.

"This is so inspiring! Everyone's going to be repeating it for days!" Sierra squeals

The counselor running the program gets the group's attention. Hearst is called up to perform their cheer!

"Hearst is the best! Better than all the rest! The other team must be poor... Because we're going to wipe them all over the floor!" Kara and her cheerleaders step off the stage. There's lukewarm applause from the camp counselor.

Payton: "Did you see that? The counselor didn't like Hearst's cheers that much. It's time for us to show them up!" Sierra pointed

Amelia, Mia, and Sierra step up and start performing Jess watches them

"Hey, are you ready? Are you ready to play?" Mia cheered

"Are you ready? Say, go team because we're here to stay!" Amelia cheers

"Hey, are you ready? Are you ready to play?" Mia cheered

"Are you ready? Say go team, it's us all the way!" Amelia cheered

The counselor applauds heartily, congratulating you on the cheerleader solid cheer!

"Yes! Eat that, Kara!" Sierra cheered

After the cheer workshop, Jess and Mia run into Kara.

"What do you YOU want?" Mia glared

Kara: "Nothing! I was just here to congratulate you on your little rhymes. They were really good." Kara smiled

"Really?"

"Yeah. Of course if yo were actually in the big leagues, your cheers would've been horrible, but they're pretty good for amateurs." Kara scoffed

"There it is." said Jess

"Anyway, I mainly just wanted to come over and encourage you to put up a good fight against us in the cheer-off at the end of the week. We'll win, of course, but I'm hoping you'll at least be a close second." Kara walks off casually, and Mia fumes.

"She's so full of it." Mia snarls

"Yeah, well, we all knew that. Anyway, next up is free time! Manicures, anyone?" Sierra cheered

"Sierra, there's no time for manicures!" Mia glared

"Oh no! What are we going to do then?" Sierra asked

"We have to focus on cheering if we're going to win against Hearst... meet me in the gym in ten!"

In the training center, Jess, Sierra, and Mia meet up with the cheerleaders.

Mia announced "We don't have much time before the cheer-off. If we want the opportunity to win that mystery prize, we definitely need to beat Hearst. And that means running the routine we've planned perfectly. Nothing, not even a HAIR should be out of place

"You got it, Mia!" Sebastian cheered

"Yeah!" Chad cheered

"Let's do it!" Mia calls. The music starts, and the cheerleaders get into formation. Mia watches on from the front. In the middle of the routine, Mia stops the music. "STOP! That was terrible! Sebastian, that was the laziest layout I've ever seen! And Sierra, what was with that flip?"

"It was... not my best..." Sierra sighed

"No, it wasn't. And not being on top of our game means we're practically giving the prize away to Hearst! We need to tighten up our tumbles and sync up all our stunts! Once more from the top!" They run the routine three more times, Mia stopping the music sooner each time. "You guys are getting worse, not better!"

"We are?" Chad sighed

"I think that time was pretty good." Sierra sighed

Sebastian: "Hey, we're trying out best here! Maybe you should actually let us finish the routine first." Sebastian glared

Mia glares at the cheerleaders. Jess step up to her. "Hey, Mia... can I talk to you for a minute?"

"Take five!" Mia calls

"Oh good, a break!" Chad cheers

"That's FIVE sets of push-ups for all of you! Now, come on, Jess." Mia ordered. The cheerleader team groans

Jess bring Mia aside. "So... what's going on?"

"What do you mean?" Mia asked

"You're being kind of a... well, you're being kind of a Kara. You're yelling at all the cheerleaders. All of the criticism is making them so afraid to make a mistake that they're too nervous to remember the moves!" said Jess

"Hey, it's tough love. They're only going to get better if they know how badly they're messing up!" Mia argue

"That's not true. You know, a lot of people respond better to positive encouragement." said Jess

"I guess the only model I have for this is Kara. She rules the Hearst High cheerleading squad with an iron fist, and it worked for her. No one dared to make a mistake. I guess I don't know how to be different." said Mia

"Well, for starters, we could use some positive reinforcement. Encouraging people can be more effective than pointing out what they're doing wrong." said Jess

"Okay... I'll try it."

Jess and Mia find the other cheerleaders finishing up their set of push-ups.

Mia sighs "Hey, guys, listen up. I have something to say. I'm... I'm sorry about how I've been acting. It's just that this meet is really important to me. Not just because I want to beat Hearst and smack that smile off Kara's face... but also because this is our chance. Our team is great. This is our opportunity for everyone else to see how far our school has come and to prove that we can compete with the best teams out there. I pushed you guys hard because I believe we have potential as a team and we can be great. But I am sorry about being so mean to you all."

"Aww, Mia!" said Sebastian

"Thank you!" Chad smiles

"I love that you believe in us!" Sierra smiles

Channing: "Yeah! Come on, guys, let's run the routine one more time!" Chad cheers

"From the top!" Sebastian cheers

The cheerleaders do the routine again, and this time, it's much stronger!

"Great work, everyone!" Mia calls

A few hours later...

"All right, that's it for the day! Great job, everyone!" Mia smiles

Sebastian: "Are you kidding? We can't quit now! We want to win this cheer-off as much as you do!" said Sebastian

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure I have another couple hours of practice in me." said Chad

"Let's run it through one more time!" said Sierra

The cheerleaders keep running through their routine, working on their weak elements.

"You really inspired them, Mia." Jess smiled

"I guess positive reinforcement really does go a long way. We'll do great tomorrow! Except..." said Mia

"Except?" Jess asked

"Well, there is one thing... the evaluators in the camp have seen all our stunts before. If we're going to set ourselves apart from Hearst and the other teams, we're going to need something special that impresses them." said Mia

"Like what?"

Mia looks at the other cheer teams milling around. Kara give the cheerleaders a fake smile. "Not here, Jess. Grab some cheerleaders both guys and girl, and meet me in one of the private practice rooms."

Jess, Amelia, Chad and Sebastian meet with Mia in a private practice room.

"So what's with the secret meeting? Is someone spying on our team? Or are we spying on someone else?!" Sebastian asked

"No spying. But we are keeping this a secret. I told you that we need something special that sets us apart from other teams, and that is... A killer finishing move!" Mia points

"I hope you don't mean that literally!" Chad sighs

"Ha ha, no, but I have an idea for it... it's going to really wow the judges! I call it Mia's Flippin Kicktwist!" Mia grins

"Ooh... sounds fancy!" Sebastian smiles

"It will be! We just need to perfect it. Are you three ready?" Mia asked

"Yeah!" Jess cheers

"And one, and two, and three!" Mia goes through the Flippin Kicktwist "Let's do it one more time! We've almost got it! Amelia, when we toss you into the air, don't forget to twist AND kick out! I know guys aren't usually the ones being tossed... which is why if we can pull it off, it'll look even MORE impressive!"

"You got it, Mia!" Amelia called

"And Chad and Sebastian, make sure you're there to catch Amelia foot after that last twist!"

"Got it!" said Sebastian

"We'll catch it!" Chad nod

Mia, Channing, and Sebastian toss Amelia up high into the air! She twist several times, kicking her leg out! As she come down, Channing and Sebastian catch her foot, supporting her at the top of an impressive standing pyramid!

"Perfect!" Mia smiled

Later that night, on her way back to her room, you see that Mia's door is slightly ajar. She push it open and find Mia sitting by her window, looking out at the lake. "Hey... is everything okay?" Jess asked

Yeah... things are fine." Mia sighs

"Sometimes taking a little walk helps me when I can't sleep. Want to head down to the lake?" Jess asked

"Yeah... that sounds nice." Mia sighs

Jess and Mia walk down to the lake. Mia bends down at the water's edge, examining the moon's reflection.

"You're worried about something, aren't you?" Jess asked

What makes you say that?" Mia asked

"Well, for a cheerleader, you're looking pretty short on cheer." said Jess

"Okay, you're right. Something is bothering me... It's about me and Kara." said Mia

"So... what happened with you and Kara?" Jess asked

"Well, at Hearst, Kara's the most popular girl in school. When I was there, more than anything, I wanted to impress her. I guess you could say our relationship was... complicated. I admired her, and her opinion meant everything to me! I would've done anything for her. And she knew it. She used me like a pawn."

"What do you mean?"

"Like I'd stay up all night perfecting cheers for her, or agree to the most dangerous stunts in the routine, or pick up her lunch at the cafeteria... I thought it meant we were close... but she never saw it that way. No matter what I did for her, no matter how hard I tried to be perfect, she was still mean and cruel, always making fun of me if I made the slightest mistake. It took me a long time to realize that I wasn't her friend. She thought of me as almost like... her servant or something. Someone she could keep down so she could stay on top of the social pyramid."

"But it's different now, right?"

"I thought it was... I thought I'd moved on. Especially now that I'm not at Hearst. But being around her again, trying to compete with her and deal with her snarky remarks... it stirs up a lot of memories. Honestly, I don't know how to feel. Maybe I still want to impress her... to get her to like me."

Jess gives Mia a hug. "It'll be okay, I promise. You've moved on. Kara doesn't have any power over you anymore."

Mia looks deep into her eyes. "Thanks, Jess when you say it, I almost believe it..."

The next day, it's time for the cheer-off! Mia heard the cheerleaders towards the stage where a huge crowd of people has gathered "I had no idea there would be so many people here." Jess gasped

"Yeah! This is SO exciting! And a good part of that crowd is from our school! They came up to cheer us on!" Sierra squeals in delight

"We'll be sure to give them a show!" said Mia

"So when is Berry High going on?" Jess asked

"There's one performance before ours." said Sierra

"Oh no... don't tell me.." Mia sighs

"It's Hearst." said Payton

"Well, I guess we'd better go watch and see what the competition looks like..." Jess and the cheerleader team stand to the side to watch Hearst's cheer performance.

"I wonder what they're going to do..." said Chad

"It won't be as awesome as our team's!" said Sierra

"No way!" Sebastian gasped

A fast beat and loud music pump through the speakers as Kara's group twists and spins! Towards the end of the set, Kara stands in the middle and tells proudly.

"It's time for our final move! Get ready for this!" Kara calls

"Uh, Mia... that formation looks REALLY familiar..." said Jess

"Oh no..." Mia sighs

"It's time for our final move! I like to call it Kara's Flippin' Kicktwist!" Kara calls

"Uh..." Chad sighs

"Did I hear that right?" Sierra asked

"There's no way..." Sebastian gasped

"She did NOT just steal my move!" Mia grit angrily

From the sidelines, Jess watch in horror and fascination as Kara's team performs the same move the cheerleaders practiced the night before!

"That SNAKE! This is low, even for her!" Mia storms off angrily.

"Mia, wait!" Jess went after Mia "Mia... are you okay?"

"It's just like before... it's just like how it's always been!" Mia shouted loudly and angrily

"No, Mia, it's-- But she continues to talk over Jess.

"Kara stole our move! She thinks she can just do whatever she wants, and I'll just... I'll just let her!"

Jess can see she plans to keep going, and Jess need to get her attention. Jess start cheering. "S-T-O-P! What's that spell? Stop! Stop, Mia, stop!"

She pauses to stare at Jess, stunned. "What are you doing?"

"Getting your attention. Look, you're not Kara's pawn anymore. You're different now. She may have taken our move, but that doesn't mean you're going to let her win!" Jess glared

"You... you're right! I'm not Kara's lapdog anymore. I'm done caring about what she thinks... I'm done caring about HER!" Mia glared

"So you're saying..." said Jess

"I'm saying, I want to go take back our move. I spent a lot of years letting Kara push me around... now it's time to push back!" Mia glared

"You okay now, Mia?"

"Yeah. I can do this. We can do this." Mia huddles the entire cheerleading team together. "All right, team, it doesn't matter that snake Kara copied our final move... the rest of our routine is solid! We've trained long and hard for this moment! Everything we've learned we've put into this routine, and I couldn't be prouder! Let's get out there and win this thing!"

"Woo hoo!" Sierra cheered

The announcer calls your school onto the stage to start their performance! Mia, and the rest of the cheerleaders get on stage while Jess watches from the sideline. The music starts, and the cheerleaders start dancing to the beat while the others flip and kick around you!

"Go, fight, win!" Amelia cheered

The cheerleaders start pumping their fists, and the audience starts cheering with Amelia!

"Go, fight, WIN!" Mia cheered

The music shifts, and Amelia, Mia, and the other cheerleaders get ready for their last move!

"This is it!" Amelia and Mia move into place, preparing for their final move.

"Kara may have stolen this move from us, but we're going to do it better! You ready, Amelia?"

"Yeah!" Amelia nods

Mia flips Amelia up into the air, and she fly high, turn four times, kick out with her legs, and land perfectly! The crowd goes wild as you pose with the other cheerleaders! "Amelia, that was perfect! Great moves!"

"Good job, you guys! The judges are tallying up the scores right now. They'll get back to us to tell us who won the competition! I'm going to go up to the judges and see if I can figure out which way they're leaning"

A short time later, Jess comes back to report. "All right, so... the judges are a little conflicted because our team and Hearst's pulled the same stunt at the end."

"Because Hearst cheated. AGAIN." Mia glared

"On the bright side, they liked the move so much that we're competing for first and second place!" said Jess

"If I come in second to Kara, I'll never hear the end of it." Mia groans

"Yeah, but all we can do now is wait..." said Jess

While later

"Okay! The results are in! The judges have come to a decision!" said Jess

"Out with it! What'd they say?" Mia asked

"We tied!" said Jess

"We tied?! What does that mean?" Mia asked

"Well, in order to prove which team is the real winner and gets the mystery prize... It means that we're going to have to perform an all-new routine a few weeks from now during our football game with Hearst."

"What? Why then?" Mia asked

"Because it'll be more fun that way." Kara sneered

Jess spin around and see Kara behind her. "I talked to the judges about it. They want to see how well our teams do when the pressure's on and when we're both in front of a crowd."

"Cause you stole our move." Mia glared

Kara plays dumb "I don't know what you're talking about, do you have any proof? Good luck girlfriend you're going to need it."
