A couple of days later. Friday noon.

Hanna's store is still closed as they've been working hard on making dresses to restock.

She returns to the store after going out to get lunch for everyone. It's her way of thanking her employees for their hard work during those tough days. Lisa and Vanessa have even stayed extra hours to work on the dresses, which Hanna truly appreciates. Despite the fact that she's paying them for their extra time, she wants them to feel appreciated as well.

As Hanna goes upstairs, she finds Lisa crying inconsolably at her desk, with Vanessa trying to comfort her.

Hanna "Hey, Lis… what's going on?" She asks her softly while placing the bags with the food on her own desk. Then she approaches Lisa.

Lisa "Are you firing us?" She asks, between sobs.

Hanna "No, of course not. Where did you get that idea?"

Vanessa "Sydney found some files on your desk... She said you were moving the business to New York."

Hanna "That's not true. I'm not moving it to New York. I'm expanding it." She crouches down before Lisa and places her hand on her shoulder. "I'm not firing anyone, Lis. I promise. I give you my word."

Sydney shows up in there. "That's not what those papers on your desk say, Hanna."

Hanna stands up and turns to look at Sydney. "What where you doing going through my stuff?" She asks, annoyed.

Sydney "I was organizing the place, like you asked me."

Hanna "Yes, I asked you to tidy up, not to snoop around my stuff."

Lisa "So it's true?" She asks, worried.

Hanna looks at Lisa. "No, Lisa. The only one getting fired here is Sydney." She says firmly, then turns back to Sydney. "You are fired, Sydney. I'm done with your bad attitude. I don't know what's with you this past week, but I'm done putting up with you."

Sydney "Okay, fine. You're doing me a favor anyway. I'm done putting up with you too. You don't know the first thing about running a business, yet you go around giving people orders as if you knew what you're doing. But before I leave, I'll do you a favor in return, since it seems like your precious Caleb kept it a secret from you..."

Hanna stares at her, confused. "What are you talking about?"

Sydney "Ask him what happened at the bar the other night. I'm sure he'll have a good explanation." She says, maliciously before turning around, grabbing her purse, and leaving.

Hanna sighs and turns back to Lisa and Vanessa. Vanessa doesn't seem affected by Sydney's accusations, as she's only there to cover for Anna for a couple of months. But Hanna wants to be honest with Lisa. She owes it to her.

Hanna "Listen, Lis. I'm expanding the business to New York because I can't face another stock crisis like this. Yes, most of the production will be based there, and those papers that Sydney found do say that I'm closing this workshop here, only keeping the store. But that's not what's going to happen. I'm planning on keeping you here. Those papers are only the first version of the new business plan my friend designed for me. But I asked him to change it. I give you my word, you won't lose your job."

Lisa seems calmer and she nods. "Thanks for your honesty, Hanna." She wipes her tears with a tissue. "I just love working here."

Hanna smiles at her and then goes to get the food she brought. "So, who's hungry?"

They have lunch and then get back to work. But Hanna can't get Sydney's words out of her mind. Even though she knows Sydney was just being mean, she can't help texting Caleb, who is still in Boston and won't be back until the night.

Hanna: "Hey! I just fired Sydney, and she mentioned something about a bar. She told me to ask you. I know she must have only said it to make me upset... But did you run into her at some bar or something?"

Caleb only takes a couple of minutes to text her back: "Yeah, I did. Last Friday. It's nothing, I'll tell you when I get home. What happened? Why did you fire her?"

Hanna: "A week ago, Caleb? WTF? Why didn't you mention it before?"

Caleb: "We'll talk when I get there."

Hanna sighs and puts her phone away.

/

Hanna gets home in the evening, but she parks her car and heads to Spencer's and Toby's instead of her own house.

Spencer "Hey, Han!" She greets her after answering the door. "Come in."

Hanna "Hey, Spence!" She steps into the house.

Spencer "So? Do you need anything?" She asks since Hanna never shows up there just like that.

Hanna "No… I'm just here to see Finn."

Spencer "Oh, so you made plans with him." She jokes.

Hanna "Yeah, he told me to come over." She plays along as they head for the living room.

Spencer "Well, he must have forgotten about it because he's already gone to sleep."

Hanna "Oh, really? He's sleeping already? I really wanted to see him." She says, looking genuinely disappointed.

Spencer smiles at her. "Wanna stay for dinner? I might not be Finn, but I think I'm still good company." She says and sits down on the couch.

Hanna hesitates.

Spencer "Come on… Toby's out having drinks with some guys from work."

Hanna "Okay, fine… you are not Finn, but I'll stay." She sits next to her on the couch.

Spencer "What should we order?"

Hanna "Pizza, please. I've had a crappy week. I need pizza." She places a cushion behind her head, making herself more comfortable.

Spencer "Perfect, pizza it is then."

Hanna "Who are the guys Toby is out with? Do you know them?"

Spencer "No, I didn't even ask… they must be those guys they hire time to time to do the hard work for them… electricians mostly, I guess."

Hanna "Do you know if Caleb's been going out with them too?"

Spencer "I've no idea, Han. Why do you ask?"

Hanna "I fired Sydney today."

Spencer "Really? Why?"

Hanna "She's been a pain in my ass lately. I had a shitty week, and she wasn't helping at all with her bad attitude. Anyway, it doesn't matter. The thing is she told me something about Caleb and some bar before she left. She told me to ask Caleb about some secret he was keeping from me."

Spencer "Sounds like she was only trying to get back at you for firing her, Han. Why don't you just ask Caleb?"

Hanna "I did. He's still in Boston, he's coming back tonight. I texted him this afternoon. I was expecting him to say he had never been to a bar with Sydney and that she's probably nuts or something like that, but he didn't deny it. He said it was last Friday and that he would tell me about it tonight."

Spencer "He was with us last Friday, Han. At that craft beer bar, remember?"

Hanna "Oh, yes! That's right! I had completely forgotten about it. So I guess he just ran into her there?"

Spencer "Yes, he did. Ali even asked him about her. He said she approached him to say hi… You aren't seriously thinking something could have happened between them there, are you?"

Hanna "No, of course not, Spencer. I trust him with my life. I just think it's weird because something indeed must have happened if Caleb has something to explain to me."

Spencer "Don't overthink, Han. I'm sure it's nothing. Don't let what Sydney said affect you. That's exactly what she wanted."

Hanna nods. "Can't you just wake Finnie up? I could really use one of his hugs right now."

Spencer laughs. "Are you nuts? Do you know what an accomplishment it is to get that baby asleep and have this Friday night all to myself?"

Hanna chuckles.

Hanna has dinner with Spencer and then she hangs out there until she receives a text from Caleb: "Hey, where are you? I'm home already."

/

Hanna heads back to her house and finds Caleb unpacking his small travel bag in their bedroom.

Hanna "Hey… How was Boston? I missed you here."

Caleb "It was okay." He says while tossing a t-shirt onto the laundry pile he's assembling on the floor.

Hanna approaches him and grabs his arm. "Could you stop it for a minute?" She tugs on his arm, making him turn to her. "I just told you I missed you." She grabs his face in her hands and pulls him into a kiss.

Caleb kisses her back only for a moment before pulling away. "I'm sorry. I can't do this."

Hanna looks at him, hurt by his rejection.

Caleb "Don't give me that look, Hanna. I can't just pretend everything's right."

Hanna "I know we have things to work out... I just wanted a kiss. I didn't know you were still so upset that you wouldn't even kiss me."

Caleb sits down on the edge of the bed and rubs his palms against his face before letting out a deep breath. "Wanna know what happened at the bar with Sydney or not?"

Hanna "I don't know. Do I want to know?"

Caleb "You can't seriously think something could have happened between us."

Hanna "It didn't cross my mind for a second, Caleb. You are just scaring me now. Just tell me."

Caleb "She had been hitting on me the last times I was at your store, and then we ran into each other at that bar. At first, she only came to talk to me when I went to order a beer, but I ran into her later, and she kind of came on to me right there. But nothing happened. Emily was there too if you want to ask her as well."

Hanna "I don't need to check your version with Emily, Caleb. I trust you with all of my heart... I just... I can't believe you didn't tell me about any of this... She had already been hitting on you at my own store, and you didn't say a word? And then she threw herself at you at that bar, and you didn't bother to tell me about it either?"

Caleb "I was planning on telling you last Monday, but Chloe quit that day and you were so-"

Hanna interrupts him. "Are you kidding me, Caleb? You had like a million chances to just tell me. You just chose not to, and I spent a whole extra week having that bitch working for me, probably laughing behind my back. What would have happened if I didn't fire her today? Would you have just let things go on like that?"

Caleb "I'm sorry, Hanna. I just thought everything was going to be okay as long as I didn't show up at your store. You were stressing about having to find a replacement for Chloe, and you said you hoped Sydney or Lisa wouldn't leave you as well."

Hanna "Are you serious? I had no idea what was going on with Sydney. I would have fired her the first time she ever flirted with you if you had told me about it. You should have told me."

Caleb "I just didn't find the right time."

Hanna "There's never a right time to tell something like that, Caleb! But still any time, really any, would have been better than not telling me at all." She says, in an exasperated tone. "Don't worry about getting unwanted kisses from me anymore because now I don't feel like kissing you either."

Hanna gets in the bathroom. She brushes her teeth and removes her makeup before changing into her nightie. Then, she goes to the closet in the hallway, grabs a blanket and heads downstairs.

In the living room, she makes herself comfortable on the couch, spreading the blanket to cover her body.

A bit more than an hour passes, and Hanna is still wide awake when Caleb shows up in the living room. He sits down on the floor, resting his back against the couch where Hanna is lying. The room is almost completely dark, only barely illuminated by the lights Caleb left on upstairs in the hallway.

Caleb "What's happening to us, Han?"

Hanna is lying on her side. She curls her body a little, getting closer to him, and she wraps her arm around his neck.

Hanna "I don't know... I guess we aren't understanding each other lately."

Caleb "How do we fix this?"

Hanna "I don't know… We can't even talk to each other without ending up fighting."

Caleb "Wanna take a break?"

Hanna "No… you?"

Caleb "No."

Hanna "Well, we finally agree on something. It's a start, I guess."

Caleb "Come to bed at least."

Hanna "No... I won't come back until we are okay again. It just feels too weird."

Caleb "Okay, then leave the couch to me."

Hanna "No, it's fine... little I knew when I was helping you pick out your furniture that I would end up sleeping on the couch one day. I'm glad we got a very comfy one."

Caleb smiles a little.

There's a silence until Caleb stands up and speaks again.

Caleb "I'll take the couch tomorrow." He just says before going upstairs.

Hanna gets up from the couch again and goes out to the backyard for a smoke, needing a moment to clear her head.

/

Next day. Saturday.

Hanna is all by herself at her store since it's still closed, Lisa and Vanessa don't work on Saturdays and she fired Sydney. It's afternoon and she's been working there since the morning, making dresses. It feels like her therapy lately, keeping her mind busy doing something that feels so natural to her. She's happy because her store already looks different now that many more dresses are hanging on the racks. Closing the store for a few days was the right decision after all.

Her phone starts ringing on her desk, so she abandons the working table she's at and rushes to it. Seeing that it's Caleb makes her a bit nervous.

Hanna "Hey!"

Caleb "Hey!"

Hanna "What's up?"

Caleb "I was thinking about our little conversation last night... maybe we don't need to talk or try to fix everything right away."

Hanna "What do you mean? Did you change your mind about not taking a break?"

Caleb "No, Han… I was just thinking that maybe we could spend some time together… Just hang out… Does it make any sense? Or I'm just being crazy?"

Hanna "No, it actually makes a lot of sense…" She likes the idea of finding their way back to each other before trying to talk things through and end up fighting again. "I like it."

Caleb "What time are you finishing there?"

Hanna "At whatever time you pick me up." She says and smiles.

Caleb "I'll be there in an hour. Is that okay with you?"

Hanna "Sure."

Caleb "Okay, see you in an hour then."

Hanna "See you."

She ends the call with a smile on her face.

Almost an hour later, Hanna is still working on a dress when her phone starts ringing again. She rushes to it again, thinking it must be Caleb, but it's not him.

Hanna "Hey, Chloe!"

Chloe "Han! I came to the store but it's closed. Are you in there?"

Hanna notices Chloe's trembling voice. "Yes, I'm here. Give me a second, I'll let you in." She puts her phone away and goes downstairs.

Hanna "What's going on, Chloe?" She asks her after opening the door, seeing that the girl is a mess of tears.

Chloe "I need your help with something, Han… you told me I could come to you if I needed anything…" She says, between sobs.

Hanna "Sure. What's wrong?"

Chloe "I think I might be… pregnant."

Hanna "God, Chloe! Are you for real? You are a smart girl, how could you-"

Chloe "Hanna, please! I would have gone to my mom if I wanted to have someone yelling at me. Can't you just help me?" She sounds desperate.

Hanna "Oh, Chloe!" She says and pulls her into a hug. "Of course I'll help you." She rubs her back softly.

Chloe hugs her back, resting her head on her shoulder. "This is such a mess, Han…"

Hanna "Let's go upstairs and see what we can do."

Chloe nods as her tears keep coming down, and pulls away from Hanna's embrace.

They go upstairs to the workshop.

Hanna "Here." She says while grabbing an office chair. "Have seat."

Chloe sits down, and Hanna goes to get her a glass of water from the water cooler. She hands the glass to the unsettled teenager and then rolls another office chair toward her and sits down as well, facing her.

Hanna "So… tell me exactly what happened. Why do you think you could be pregnant?"

Chloe "I'm late, Han."

Hanna "How late?"

Chloe "I don't know exactly… like six or seven days I think."

Hanna "Have this happened to you before? I mean, is your period typically regular or not?"

Chloe "Yeah, I've been late before. But not so many days."

Hanna "And you and Zeth have been having unprotected sex?"

Chloe "We are careful most of the time…"

Hanna "Gosh, Chloe! Most of the time is not enough, and you know it. You always have to be careful."

Chloe starts to cry harder. "I know, Hanna. I know… What is done is done. I'm not having sex ever again. Just tell me what to do."

Hanna's phone buzzes, and she sees it's a text from Caleb: "I'm at the door."

Hanna "Just give me a second, Chloe." She says while typing on her phone.

"Just let yourself in. Door is unlocked." She texts Caleb back, knowing she didn't lock the door after letting Chloe in.

Hanna "Anything else you would like to tell me?"

Chloe nods. "I also woke up feeling sick this morning… but I had too much to drink last night, so it could be just a hangover."

Hanna "Did you tell Zeth about this?"

Chloe "Of course not! Are you insane? He's leaving for college in a few days. I'm not telling him about this."

Caleb shows up upstairs but doesn't approach them, seeing that they are in the middle of something.

Hanna "I'll be right back, Chloe."

She stands up from her chair and approaches Caleb herself.

Hanna "Hey… I'm kind of in the middle of a situation here."

Caleb "Yeah, I see… want me to leave and give you some time?"

Hanna "Actually… could you do me a favor?"

Caleb "Sure."

Hanna "Could you go get Chloe a pregnancy test?"

Caleb "Oh, so that's all about…"

Hanna "Yeah. I really hope this isn't more than just a good scare."

Caleb "Okay, I'll be right back."

Hanna "Thanks, Caleb... get her two tests, just in case."

Caleb nods at her and leaves.

Hanna goes back to Chloe and hands her some tissues. "Caleb's getting you a pregnancy test."

Chloe "What? Did you just tell your boyfriend?"

Hanna "Don't worry. Caleb's the least judgmental person I know, Chloe. And also one of the most reliable ones. You are in good hands." She sits back in the chair in front of Chloe.

/

Caleb gets back some minutes later and finds Hanna still talking to Chloe, who seems much calmer now.

Hanna "So my mom asked what a pink drink was, and if it was some kind of code for something gay." She laughs as she tells the story. "And I was like no, mom, it's just a pink drink."

Chloe laughs too. "I wish you were my age. I would love to have you as a friend and go out together. You are so fun!"

Caleb hands Hanna the bag with the tests inside.

Hanna looks up at him and gives him a smile. "Thank you, Caleb." She takes one of the tests from the bag and hands it to Chloe. "Well, let's find out the truth."

Chloe stands up from the chair while examining the package. "So, how the hell does this work?"

Hanna stands up as well. "Come on, I'll help you with the instructions." She says and they go to the bathroom.

Caleb takes a seat in Hanna's chair, glancing around the room. He notices a frame on Hanna's desk with a picture of her and him. He takes a look at it and then puts it back in its place. He's on his phone when Hanna returns a few minutes later and sits down in the other chair.

Hanna "I'm sorry, Caleb. She just showed up and I couldn't not help her."

Caleb puts his phone away and looks at her. "It's okay, I understand."

Hanna shoots him a small smile.

Caleb "So, what was that story about the pink drink?" He asks, making conversation.

Hanna chuckles. "Nothing, I was just trying to distract Chloe a little… it was one time when I ended up at a gay bar with Emily. Some girl hit on me, and then another girl got jealous and spilled her drink all over me. It was a pink drink... and, well, my mom caught me when I got home... I had to give her some explanations."

Caleb smiles amused. "Poor Ashley, having to put up with you as a teen."

Hanna smiles. "Yeah… I used to get into trouble a lot… I even crashed Sean's car one time."

Caleb laughs. "You crashed his car? How come you never told me about it?"

Hanna "Because I didn't want to tell you the reason why I ended up in that situation, and you wouldn't want to know either."

Caleb "Come on, try me. I can handle it. It can't be that bad, you were just kids."

Hanna "I'm not telling you."

Caleb "Come on, just tell me… I'll probably end up picturing something worse than what really happened."

Hanna "Yes, like I had to picture you and Sydney at a bar after she told me what you should have told me yourself."

Caleb sighs in frustration. They were doing so well so far.

Chloe "Haaaan!" She calls for her from the bathroom.

Hanna stands up. "I was just frustrated because Sean wouldn't have sex with me, so I stole his car and ended up crashing it into the woods." She just tells him and walks away to the bathroom.

Caleb watches as Chloe comes out of the bathroom, smiling and hugging Hanna. They start jumping around, celebrating.

Then they walk back towards him, and Hanna grabs the other test.

Hanna "Here." She hands it to Chloe. "Just to be sure, take the test again tomorrow morning. The result is usually more accurate in the mornings."

Chloe "So I'm not out of this mess yet?"

Hanna "I think you'll be fine, Chloe. It's just to make sure."

Chloe "My parents are going to kill me if they find this test."

Hanna "Come on, Chloe. I'm sure you've smuggled worse things into your house."

Chloe gives up. "Fine. I'll take the freaking test tomorrow morning." She says and puts it into her purse.

Hanna "And you never have unprotected sex again, Chloe. I mean it. You could end up with something way worse than just a baby."

Chloe "I know, Hanna. I didn't have unprotected sex with some random guy. It was just Zeth. And I'm not doing it again. I've learnt my lesson. I promise."

Hanna "Good."

Caleb "Do you need a ride?" He offers Chloe.

Chloe "I'm just meeting up with Zeth at The Brew. Thanks, anyway." She smiles at him. "And thanks for getting me the tests too. Really."

Caleb "You are welcome."

Then Chloe turns to Hanna and hugs her again. "Thanks, Han. For everything. You are the best."

Hanna smiles while hugging her back. "No problem, kiddo. Just make sure next time you come to me, it's about something fashion-related."

Chloe laughs as she pulls away from the hug. Then she goes downstairs to leave.

Caleb "So? What are we doing?" He asks while getting up from his chair.

Hanna "I don't know… I thought you had something in mind."

Caleb "Mmh… wanna go for a coffee?"

Hanna hesitates. "I…"

Caleb "It's okay. You don't like that plan, I get it."

Hanna "No… it's just… what are we going to do? Just sit and talk about the weather? We aren't exactly doing great at having conversations lately… It'll just feel awkward."

Caleb only nods. Not knowing what else to suggest. He watches her closely, his eyes reflecting a mix of longing and frustration.

Hanna "Why don't we just go get Chocolate and go for a walk?"

Caleb "Yeah, sure." He agrees, even though he's already walked Chocolate earlier. "Let's go."

As they walk away, he contemplates putting his hand on her lower back for a moment but decides against it. The emotional distance between them remains.

/

The sun is nearly set as they arrive at the park with Chocolate, and it's mostly illuminated by the streetlights.

Caleb holds Chocolate's leash with one hand, while the other stays tucked in his pocket. Hanna walks silently beside them. Their walk has been really quiet, with only a few comments from Hanna about Chocolate, trying to make some conversation.

They discover a quiet, less crowded spot, and Hanna get Chocolate's favorite ball from her purse as Caleb frees him from his leash.

Hanna "Here, baby!" She tosses the ball for the dog to chase.

Chocolate comes back, but he gives the ball to Caleb. So he throws it for him this time.

Hanna watches them play for a while and eventually moves to sit on a nearby bench. But Chocolate doesn't have too much energy left on evenings and he's already had a walk earlier, so at some point he abandons Caleb as well and joins Hanna. The dog settles on the ground, leaving his ball nearby. So, Caleb goes to sit next to Hanna on the bench.

Caleb "Toby and Emily were talking about all of us spending a weekend at Spencer's lake house, like we used to do before the babies." He starts a conversation.

Hanna "Yeah, I know. Spencer told me about it last night. I had dinner with her."

Caleb is about to say something, but Hanna speaks again.

Hanna "But I don't think I'll go."

Caleb only nods. And there's silence until Hanna decides to break it.

Hanna "My mom told me Toby was working at the Radley the other day."

Caleb "Yeah, a camera broke there, and he replaced it."

Hanna nods. They again find themselves in another awkward pause.

Caleb "Well… this is coming out awkwardly…" He comments after some minutes of them just watching people pass by.

Hanna sighs. "I'm doing my best here, I'm still hurt because you didn't tell me about Sydney. But I'm here anyway."

Caleb "You are not the only one hurt here." He stands up from the bench, grabs Chocolate's ball, and walks a few feet away.

Luckily for him, Chocolate stands up and joins him to play again.

Hanna stands up and goes after them. She reaches out and gently places her hand on Caleb's shoulder, the touch carrying the weight of her emotions. "Well, I guess the important thing is that we both want to make things better, right? I mean, we are both right here trying…"

Caleb nods, feeling her hand on his shoulder, and then takes the ball from Chocolate's mouth.

Hanna "I just wish that wanting were enough…" Her eyes glisten with unshed tears.

Caleb "Maybe taking a break wouldn't be a bad idea." He suggests, his gaze fixed on the ball in his hand. He throws it for Chocolate, who eagerly chases after it.

Hanna "What do you mean?"

Caleb shrugs. "I'm just saying… it seems like spending time together isn't working for us either. We are both obviously too upset to put our problems aside even for a moment."

Hanna "Yeah, but what's the point of taking a break? I don't want to spend time apart from each other. It would just put more distance between us… And I already feel you like hundreds of miles away from me."

Caleb's shoulders slump, and he releases a heavy sigh. "I'm right here."

Hanna searches his eyes, as her own fight back tears. "But you won't even kiss me, Caleb."

She turns to walk away when there's no response, but Caleb reaches out, taking her arm to stop her.

Caleb "Hanna, it's not that I don't want to kiss you. It's just... I need some time to sort things out in my head."

Hanna "Okay…" A tear finally falls, and she wipes it away. "Just… let's not take a break, please."

Caleb's love for her overtakes his hurt feelings, and he instinctively pulls her into an embrace, holding her tightly. "We won't."

Hanna's cheek rests against his chest, her arms encircling his lower back. She closes her eyes, inhaling the familiar scent of Caleb's cologne, a fragrance that always brings her comfort, a sense of home.

They remain in that tender embrace until Hanna's phone rings in her purse. Caleb reluctantly lets go.

Hanna "Hey, Em… yeah, I'm sorry I didn't see your texts… okay, yes count me in… why not?... uh huh… okay, perfect." She ends the call and throws her phone back into her purse, then she looks back at Caleb. "I'm getting together with the girls at Ali's and Em's… I'll have to go back home and get my car."

Caleb "Okay, let's get going then." He puts Chocolate back on his leash. "So, it's just a girls' night?"

Hanna smiles at him. "Yeah, no guys tonight… and no Spencer either, she made plans with Toby and Finn… maybe you could text Ezra and go out for a drink or something…"

Caleb "No, I'll just stay home with my buddy here." He pets Chocolate's head. "Let's go."

As they start walking, Hanna feels Caleb's hand take hers, and her heart skips a beat. She smiles and gives his hand a reassuring squeeze, letting him know how much she appreciates that small gesture. Their time at the park might have been awkward, but she feels a bit closer to him now.

/

Hanna follows Emily into the living room and finds Aria and Alison already there, along with one of the babies, being held by Aria.

Hanna "Hi, guys!" She greets them. "I'm washing my hands so I can steal that baby from you, Aria. I've been to the park with Chocolate." She explains as she heads for the kitchen.

A couple of minutes later, she returns to the living room and approaches Aria, who passes the baby to her.

Aria "Take a guess, is it Lily or Grace?"

Hanna examines the baby for a few seconds before taking a seat in a chair. "Mmh… I think it's Lily." She says and looks at Emily and Alison who are sitting on the couch.

Alison chuckles. "Yeah, it's Lily."

Hanna "Finally, I got it right!" She smiles.

Emily "Yeah, but it doesn't count… you just said a name randomly. You still can't tell them apart." She teases.

Hanna "No one can… only you two, and you have to, you are their mothers." She rests Lily against her chest and nuzzles her neck, taking in her baby scent and closing her eyes.

Emily "Are you getting high on my baby?" She laughs at seeing Hanna inhaling like crazy.

Hanna laughs too. "I just love the baby scent."

Aria smiles. "So, any update on that thing we discussed at Spencer's kitchen the other night?" She asks Hanna, referring to the conversation they had about Caleb suggesting she quit her pills.

Hanna turns serious now. "No… Caleb and I are closer to fighting for Chocolate's custody than having a baby."

Alison "Were you talking about having a baby?"

Hanna sighs. "Yeah, I don't want to talk about it."

Aria "I'm sorry, Han… I shouldn't have-"

Hanna interrupts her. "It's okay, Aria. It wasn't a secret. I changed my mind anyway."

Aria "What happened with Caleb?"

Hanna "Nothing, we just aren't connecting well lately. But I don't want to talk about it, guys." She says while caressing Lily's hair softly. "She's so sweet. So quiet."

Emily smiles. "Yeah, because she's sleepy. You should have seen her an hour ago when she was hungry."

Hanna "She's just like her auntie Hanna, she gets in a bad mood when she's hungry. That's all." She kisses Lily's little hand. "What are we having for dinner by the way?"

/

After dinner, it's Grace who wakes up crying for her bottle, so Alison prepares her formula, and Aria asks to feed the baby herself, so they move to the couch. Hanna stays in the kitchen and helps Emily load the dishwasher.

Emily "I know you said you didn't want to talk about it, but… are you mad at Caleb about something in particular?" She asks as she places the glasses in the dishwasher.

Hanna "If you mean Sydney, I already know what happened, and yes, I'm pretty mad because he didn't tell me. She did."

Emily "I was there, Han… poor Caleb did nothing to end up in that situation, and- "

Hanna cuts her off. "I'm not mad about what happened. I'm just mad because he didn't tell me she had been hitting on him in the first place. I know you were there, he told me I could check his version with you, but I don't need to do that. I believe him."

Emily "Have you tried to put yourself in his place?"

Hanna "What do you mean? He should have told me, Emily. There's not much to analyze here." She hands Emily a couple of dishes.

Emily "Haven't you asked yourself why he couldn't find a way to talk to you about it?"

Hanna stares at her, confused. "Are you seriously taking his side?

Emily sighs. "No, Han. I'm not. I think you are right. He should have told you about Sydney so you could get rid of her as soon as possible. That's what I advised him to do." She leaves her task and stands before Hanna. "I'm actually trying to help you here. I just want you to consider that maybe something was already wrong between you two for him not to be able to talk to you about it."

Hanna "Did he tell you anything else? Why are you telling me this?"

Emily "I'm sorry, Han. I don't want to get in the middle of you two. I just think all this matter with Sydney is pretty stupid, and you wouldn't have made such a big deal about it if you guys were doing well. I'm sure Caleb would have told you about it sooner."

Hanna "Okay, fine. You are right… we are having some issues. Sydney is not the only problem here. I just… I don't feel like talking about this right now, Em."

Emily nods.

Hanna gets home later that night and finds Caleb lying on the couch, covered with a blanket, and all the lights off. He's already gone to sleep. She quietly approaches to check if he's sleeping.

Caleb "Hey." He greets her in the darkness, his voice heavy with drowsiness.

Hanna "Hey… I… I just wanted to let you know I got home."

Caleb "Okay."

Hanna "Goodnight." She says before turning to go upstairs.

Caleb "Goodnight."

Hanna gets ready for bed, but instead of turning in, she decides to go back downstairs.

Caleb "Can't sleep?" He asks as he notices her standing by the couch again.

Hanna "Can you make some room for me there?"

Caleb turns to lie on his side, creating space for her. Hanna lifts the blanket and lies down on her side, facing him.

Hanna "Can I ask you something?"

Caleb "Sure."

Hanna "Would you have told me about Sydney hitting on you if… things between us were normal?"

Caleb takes a deep breath and pauses for a moment before answering. "I honestly wasn't sure at all she was hitting on me. She was pretty subtle, and I thought I might be just getting it wrong. I mean, people don't go around making moves on their bosses' partners."

Hanna "Yeah, I still can't believe her."

Caleb "Anyway, I would have definitely told you about what happened at the bar. She crossed the line that night… but I didn't not tell you because of our problems… there were many reasons why I put it off. Of course, that was one of them, but I also didn't want to ruin our good moments together, like the only night we actually tried for a baby. We weren't having many of those really good days lately, and I also couldn't tell you after Chloe quit, I already told you that."

Hanna nods. "Thanks for being honest with me now." She places her hand on the side of his head and starts to caress his cheek with her thumb. "I think we have more important issues at the moment than this stupid thing with Sydney… I just wanted to put it behind."

Caleb places his hand on her face too, and starts to caress her with his thumb as well. He runs it back and forth along her bottom lip.

Hanna takes his hand and moves it away. "Don't touch my lip like that if you aren't going to kiss me. It makes me wish your thumb was your mouth, and it's killing me."

Caleb's body reacts to her deep, honest words, and he presses his mouth to hers before he can even think. His arms go straight around her lower back, pulling her against him.

Hanna holds his face with both of her hands as she kisses him back, almost as if she's trying to ensure he doesn't pull away from her mouth, regretting the kiss.

But Caleb has no intention of pulling away anytime soon. He longed for that kiss just as much as Hanna. He takes the initiative to make it deeper as he slides his tongue between her lips, seeking hers. The kiss reveals their desperate need for physical contact after days of distance and awkwardness between them. Their breaths become shallow quickly, both of them needing even more.

Hanna reaches down, unsure if Caleb wants the same as her. She slides her index finger under the waistband of his boxers and runs it along it, waiting for his reaction. But he just keeps kissing her, so she slides her hand underneath and starts to touch him gently, getting a gasp from him.

Caleb grabs her and turns to lie on his back, bringing her on top of him. Hanna slides her hand out only to pull his underwear down enough to uncover him. Then she takes off her own panties and, keeping her nightie on, she straddles him to finally connect their bodies.

She places her hands on his shoulders for stability and rejoins their mouths to start a new kiss as she starts to move.

Caleb relaxes under the pleasure she's giving him for a couple of minutes. Then, he shifts to kiss her neck while moving his lower half, aligning with Hanna's movements, and she can no longer tell what feels more pleasant to her, his tender lips on her skin or the spot where their bodies are connected.

After a few minutes, Hanna suddenly stops.

Hanna "I'll be right back, babe…" She says, panting, as she stands up from the couch. "I'll just go get a condom." She explains.

Caleb nods, his chest rising and falling, heavily breathing.

Hanna gets back a couple of minutes later, holding the already unwrapped condom from its package. She gets back in her place, ready to slide it on Caleb, but to her surprise his erection is gone.

Caleb sighs. "Just give me a moment." He says and reaches down to touch himself.

Hanna doesn't say a word, she only lies down next to him, but there's not much room, so Caleb turns to his side to make space for her. Since they are facing each other, Hanna starts another kiss, a soft one this time.

Hanna "It's okay." She says a few seconds later and reaches down between his legs, moving his hand away to stop him. "I only wanted a kiss… And I got plenty of those." She reassures him.

Caleb "I'm sorry, I don't know-"

Hanna cuts him off. "It's fine. Maybe this was rushed…"

Caleb nods. Truth is, all the matter about the condoms is what affected him. Not because he wouldn't want to use them. He's used condoms all his life before Hanna. It's the whole situation around them and the fight they had what just caused him that physical reaction. But he's a bit ashamed to put it into words, so he just remains silent.

Hanna doesn't know what to do or say. This awkwardness again was the last thing they needed.

Hanna "I'll just go to bed." She says at some point and stands up. "I'll see you in the morning." She pecks his lips before grabbing her panties and then goes upstairs.

It takes Hanna more than a couple of hours to go to sleep. She turns and tosses, torturing herself, thinking that she should have stayed on the couch with Caleb or maybe just asked him to come to bed with her instead of just leaving after the little incident. On top of that, she can't help wondering what happened. Maybe he's still too upset with her, and she shouldn't have pushed it.

The next morning, Hanna wakes up early, her thoughts still consumed by the events of the previous night. Unable to go back to sleep, she takes a shower, puts on a basic white t-shirt, a pair of jeans and goes downstairs, expecting to find Caleb on the couch, but he's not there.

Hanna goes to the kitchen and fills Chocolate's bowl with food before starting to make herself a cup of coffee. She finds it unusual that the dog doesn't get there to eat his food as he always does when he hears the kibble hitting the bowl as it is served. She decides to go check the backyard but he's not there either. That's when she hears the front door and connects the dots, her boys were out together.

Shortly after, Caleb appears in the doorway.

Caleb "Morning."

Hanna "Morning."

Chocolate shows up there and goes straight to his bowl. Caleb had already fed him before their morning walk, but he decides not to say anything. An extra ration of food won't hurt the dog.

The silence hangs heavy between them, and Hanna can't help but feel the weight of their unspoken words. She searches for the right way to break the ice.

Hanna "Caleb, about last night..."

Caleb "Hanna, I..."

Their voices overlap, and they both fall silent, realizing the difficulty of addressing the situation. The awkwardness lingers in the air, and they exchange unsure glances.

Hanna "I was just going to say it was my fault… I rushed it. I'm sorry."

Caleb "No, it's okay. I just had too much on my mind." He vaguely explains.

Hanna "Do you have plans for today?" She changes the subject and sips her coffee.

Caleb "I'm getting together with Lucas later… he wants me to show him the software I'm developing."

Hanna "Oh, okay."

Caleb "Wanna join us?"

Hanna smiles. "No, it's fine. You both are going to bore me to death with your computer stuff."

Caleb only nods in response.

Hanna "Want some coffee?"

Caleb "No, thanks… I'll just go shower." He says and leaves the kitchen.
