There's something wrong with Shinji.

As the night was ending and the sun was slowly rising on the horizon, a hungover Jonin was laying in the sofa of her apartment.
Another mission, another 'girls night out' with Kure-chan, and that girl could really drink…
Her home was situated in a complex housing a lot of clan-less Shinobis. Far from the tower. As a member of a clan, she could have easily found a place in her clan compound.

She simply chose not to, and rented an apartment here.
It was a nice place, to be honest. If you had the capacity to ignore the usual ninjas eccentricities, like explosions in the morning, people jumping from the seventh floor when they are late for work, one neighbour loudly laughing about the 'POWER OF YOUTH!' and sometimes Kakashi. She really didn't mind that last part.
But Nara Kyougi liked to be left alone.

"Bonded with a white wolf at the old age of 11-hours-old…" The tired Shinobi started to read again the bundle of reports she was given before accepting to become the Jonin-sensei of Konoha's Team 4.

"Proved his bond when he was two-years old. Only because he didn't know that he should have told his parents. Placed under the tutelage of the Chuunin Maho Miko."
Kyougi chuckled lightly after reading the document, before taking the following three sheet of papers and unceremoniously threw them flying around her apartment.

"One of the few children who survived the Kyubi's aftermath."

Kyougi put the report above her head and concentrated on the letters on the parchment.
"Placed in the class of Nara Daisuke. Special Jonin specialised in re-education."
Kyougi's eyes narrowed at THAT name and continued reading as the writing in the report changed, turning into THAT BASTARD handwriting.
"Inuzuka Shinji is bored. His interest in history is commendable, his language, communication and social skills are far above his age and will help him as an important figure in his clan.
But his progress in mathematics is abnormal for an Inuzuka. It's almost like he already knew and just needed me to remind him…"
Kyougi chuckled at the words of her clan-mate.

"As his teacher, I am extremely proud of him." The report of The-Nara-That-Should-Not-Be-Named-In-Her-Presence continued. "Be it civilian or Shinobi's teaching, he learns at a startling speed. The council put him in my class in case his growth was stunned by his past, but he is already head and shoulders about the rest. Only Hyuga Neji is above him and that's only because we can't compare their clan's teaching... He will graduate without a doubt and join the Jonin squad as an excellent Shinobi of Konoha. Of this I have no doubt."

"YOU IDIOTS! READ BETWEEN THE FUCKING LINES!"

Kyougi angrily threw the report away, before clumsily grabbing another folder that was close to her, and opened it. This was her last report after the clusterfuck that happened in the last mission, where Inuzuka Shinji drew First Blood, before dismissing it.

"There is something wrong with Shinji. Something wrong. Very, very wrong… But I have no proof…"

Kyougi painfully dragged her body out of the couch and awkwardly wobbled her way toward her bedroom, before belly flopping on it to enjoy maybe one or two hours of sleep.

But sleep didn't grace her with its presence. Only worry.

Kyougi drew a long and resigned on her favourite pillow. She was used to it. As a Konoha Jonin, her job was to find and eliminate every threat that could harm the village hidden in the leaves. She knew that. She gladly accepted that…

And there was obviously something wrong with Shinji.
And no one was seeing it.
And she didn't know what it was

Nara Kyougi turned in her bed to look at the ceiling, before grabbing a frame on her night-stand, which held a familiar picture.

On it, three Chunins were facing her. A laughing 16 years-old Kyougi Nara piggybacking a twenty-something years old girl, with both arms wrapped around her throat. A brown-haired girl who looked annoyed but way-too-used to the black-haired annoyance that was strangling her out of excitement, and a silver-haired boy with his hand slapping his face, hiding his visage out of embarrassment.

Kyougi Nara stared at the picture for a moment, and smiled.
"Team 3: Nara Kyougi, Akira Hayami and Saï, temporary member."

"There's something wrong with Shinji… But that's alright. I have time… I have all the time in the world to unravel it… After all, I also have my own secrets."
Nara Kyougi curled herself under her blanket, clutching the memento of her teammates close to her heart.

"I've come a long way… Right, Saï?"

And Kyougi Nara finally fell asleep with a smile.
