It was a peaceful day with clear skies and warm weather. While most kids would be at the park, one child, no older than 7, wandered around a small flower shop. His hair was silver, yet when the light hit just right it was almost blinding white. He picked up a small flower pot, carrying it across the shop before putting it down next to a table with a TV on it. He reached over, turning it on and quickly changing the channel.

"-saved another building from burning down. The pro heroes 'Water Hose' are making headlines as they rise through the rankings despite doing mostly rescue work."

"Kazuma, you should focus on your chores before watching the hero channels." A middle aged man walked in from the back of the shop, carrying several bags of soil as if they weighed nothing. He had light blue hair, tied up in a knot. "But dad, they're talking about aunt Shizuka and uncle Koji!"

The man set the bags down before ruffling Kazuma's hair, "well you'll see them tonight and you can ask them all about their hero work. Finish this chore then I have a surprise for you, ok?"

Kazuma quickly grabbed a seed packet, putting them into the pot and brushing some dirt over them before grabbing a water can. While he was watering the soil, he couldn't help but hum a tune to himself. He enjoyed working in his fathers store, even if some kids in his class made fun of him for it. Heroes helped people with small stuff too, and he was gonna be a hero!

He picked the pot up, carrying back to the window he got it from, pushing it closer to the glass. He quickly ran to the counter, watching his father put some papers away before locking the drawer. "All done? Go grab your bag and we can go." Kazuma ran off to grab his bag, all black and covered in pins with various flowers on them.

"Where are we going? Isn't the shop supposed to be open all day today?" The boy was practically vibrating with excitement while waiting for his father to lock the front door, double checking the handle before leading the way. "If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise, would it?" he smirked as he watched Kazuma's expression turn into a pout. The boy ran ahead a bit, looking through a shop window at the newest hero merchandise.

"Another new All Might figure? There's like, a billion of them already! Who needs that many?!" He kept looking at all the different figures, not spotting any he wanted or didn't already have.

"Don't you have a classmate that gets all of them?" Kazuma nodded his head, turning to face his father. "Yep, it's like all he talks about. He always says 'I'm gonna save everyone with a smile, just like All Might,' then does a dumb laugh. Aunt and Uncle are way cooler, they save everybody from villains and fires!" He points his finger like a gun, pretending to shoot water at pretend villains. The man chuckles, grabbing his son's hand as they cross the street. "Well, people like flashy heroes, and it doesn't get flashier than All Might."

A distant explosion rang out, causing Kazuma to flinch and squeeze his fathers hand tighter. The pair picked up the pace, going up the stairs to the train platform. From the raised viewpoint they could see a pillar of smoke in the distance. "Looks like something in the other prefecture, nothing to worry about," the man pulled his phone out, checking the news to be safe.

Their train came to a stop, the speaker announcing their arrival. The car they were in, and the platform outside it were unusually empty. As they stepped off, a police officer approached them, notebook in hand. "Hello sir, can I ask you a few questions?" The father nodded, squeezing his son's hand to comfort him. "Firstly, may I have your name and your son's name? Second, did you see any unusual characters during your train ride?"

"My name is Sadao Morita, and this is Kazuma Morita. I haven't seen anybody out of the ordinary, should we be worried?" The officer jotted the names down before waving his hand. "Nothing to worry about, we received a tip that some unsavory passengers were giving people a hard time. Have a nice day."

The pair made their way downstairs, Sadao looking around for their destination. "Almost there buddy, are you excited?" Kazuma nodded hesitantly, using both hands to squeeze the straps on his bag. "Wh-what if a villain attacks us? The police guy said there might be some around here.."

"I'm sure he didn't mean villains. We're pretty close to a hero agency y'know, one of your favorites." They turned the corner, a long bridge leading to a large building covered in shapes of various aquatic animals. Kazuma's eyes widened as he gasped, realizing where they were.

"Gang Orcas' mainland aquarium?! You got the passes to go in?!" Sadao nodded, fishing out both passes and handing one to the boy. "Yep, he's supposed to be here too, so maybe you'll get to meet him." Before he could finish his sentence, Kazuma started running towards the entrance, unable to keep his excitement in check. The man only had to jog to catch up, a smile stuck on his face as he watched his son with joy. Only when another distant explosion hit his ears did he look away.

He turned his head, seeing more smoke. 'Still distant, shouldn't be a problem, guess they found those suspects'

Luckily, Kazuma didn't notice, turning around once he got to the door, practically bouncing in anticipation. Once his father caught up to him, they entered, letting the employees check their passes before letting them in. Normally, it was crowded, but due to other events there were very few people there. Sadao had saved up and planned for months, tracking hero news just so his son could have a chance at meeting one of his favorite heroes. He knew of the trouble he had at school, his son didn't keep it a secret. No matter how much the boy hid it, he could tell the bullying was starting to get to him. It was only name calling, but that was always the start, he knew that much.

It wasn't much different when he was a kid, but he was quirkless. He thanked whatever deity watching over him that his son didn't have to deal with the same things he had to. He would give his son the life he couldn't have, and shoulder all the burdens the world threw at him.

"D-dad, look!" Sadao was pulled from his thoughts, looking to where his son was pointing. Standing there in front of them was none other than Gang Orca. Kazuma shifted nervously, looking at his father for guidance. He nodded, knowing what his son was asking him. The boy ran up to the hero, awestruck by his presence. "Ah, hello young one! Are you excited to see all sorts of aquatic life?" Kazuma nodded, quickly spinning his bag around and unzipping it, moving things aside before pulling out a notebook with the heroes logo plastered all over it.

"Gang Orca, sir, will you please sign my notebook? You're one of my favorite heroes!" The large man let out a hearty laugh, pulling a pen from his pocket and grabbing the book. "Gladly, it's always nice to see someone young who cares about the ocean. What is your name, little one?"

"Kazuma Morita, and I'm gonna be a hero one day!"

A few seconds passed before Gang Orca signed the book, clearly putting more than his autograph. "You'll make a fine hero, I'm sure of it!" He handed the book back to the boy, his phone ringing suddenly. He excused himself and walked off as Kazuma ran back to his father, showing off his now signed book.

Sadao smiled, thankful that his hard work paid off. Nothing brought him more joy than making his son happy. "You'll have to show your mother when we get home, she'll want to hear all about it." He took his son's hand, leading him through the aquarium.

The sun was starting to set as they walked out. Kazuma had a poster in his arms, and a new pin on his bag. His father smiled softly as he listened to his son talk about all the facts he learned today. He checked his phone, seeing a message from his wife. As he went to unlock the device, something moved in the corner of his eye. He put a hand in front of Kazuma, stopping him abruptly as someone now stood in their way.

The man in front of them was injured. Half his face was covered in half dried blood, his white coat stained from various holes in his torso. A trail of the red substance could be seen behind him, going around the corner and out of sight. Sadao stepped in front of Kazuma, standing between the man and his son. The bridge was empty, not a single person was around.

The man started laughing, starting from a quiet chuckle to full blown hysterics. He raised a hand up, pointing his palm at the two civilians in front of him. "It's unfortunate that fate looks down upon you. The only people around, the only people to see me alive, that means it was meant to happen!" He started laughing again, energy cackling from his palm. "I, fates chosen, will wipe you from existence for simply gazing upon my greatness!"

"Kazuma, you need to run!" Sadao turned to face his son, kneeling down. "You need to go back inside and hide!" Kazuma was frozen in place, tears in his eyes as he could see everything behind his father turn white. "You'll be the hero I couldn't be." Sadao pushed his son to the side, hoping it was enough as the energy reached him.

An explosion rang out. Fireless and unseen. The white concrete in the surrounding area, now grey and distorted. The bloodied man took a step forward, admiring his work as he wiped some blood from his eyes with his sleeve. As he pulled his arm away, he felt the wind pickup as he witnessed the boy he had just erased appear from thin air. "Wh-what? Nobody can survive my power…. Surely I just missed! Allow me to correct my mistake!"

Before he could raise his hand again, a fish collided with his face, sending him flying into the wall far behind him. "Got you villain, you won't escape this time!" All Might himself stood among the warped area, smiling as always, yet anyone could see that it was forced. He was just a second too late. He quickly went to check on the boy laying on the ground nearby.

The hero couldn't see any injuries, and the boy was still breathing. Kazuma's eyes were wide open, his pupils devoid of any color. No matter how hard All Might tried, the boy would not respond, his gaze looking past him as if he wasn't even there.

The police showed up soon after, quirk suppressant cuffs at the ready. They cuffed the unconscious villain and threw him into the van. As it pulled away, an ambulance arrived, rushing to the boy laying on the ground as All Might was knelt beside him. "He's unresponsive, but breathing. We'll take it from here All Might!" Two paramedics lifted the boy and put him on a stretcher, performing checks as they loaded him into the ambulance. The hero gave his report to the police before making his way to the hospital to ensure the safety of the child he just failed.

He hoped he didn't watch this boy become an orphan.
