Chapter 7

"I can't believe I fell for Darkstalker's little trick!" Frost thought, frustrated. She turned her head and watched Winter. He caught her eye and looked away, but she saw a hint of blush.

"Thank goodness Winter and Qibli snapped me out of it." She grinned. She turned her head and looked ahead of her and slowed herself, hovering next to Qibli. She saw a giant black Nightwing, and an army of Nightwings, flying toward Jade Mountain. She saw Moon, Turtle, and Anemone flying alongside the big dragon.

"Darkstalker.." she breathed, staring at his enormous size.

Frost looked beside her as Winter flew up next her. He saw the Nightwings then pointed off to the left. Frost followed his talon and saw Snowfall, leading an army of Icewings, toward Jade Mountain.

"Where is Queen Glacier?" Frost asked.

Winter bowed his head. "She died. From the Icewing plague."

"Icewing plague?" She asked as her heart sank. She liked Queen Glacier.

"Darkstalker." He snarled.

Frost looked in between the two tribes, biting her lip.

"What are you thinking?" Winter asked.

She sighed. "We need to stop this war."

"I've got an idea." Qibli grinned, flying toward Turtle and Anemone.

"Wait!" She called, but he was far gone. She groaned and looked down, in thought.

"Frost?" Winter asked.

"I have an idea. But it's risky." She said, looking up and flying for Darkstalker.

"Frost!" Winter cried after her, but she didn't listen to him. She flew toward Darkstalker.

"Hey! Darkstalker!" She called.

"That voice.." He thought.

The big dragon stopped flying and looked at her.

"Darkstalker, you stupid ice block for a brain!" She yelled.

"Frost?! I thought you were- How did you-" He stuttered, speechless.

She flew up in front of him and pointed at Fathom's horn ring. "Fathom made this. It connected me to you."

"Fathom, that little eel."

"Shut up!" She yelled. She took a deep breath. "Don't do this. I know what you did to the Icewings." She said, calm and soft.

Darkstalker frowned. "Frost, they hurt my tribe. They hurt me. Us."

Frost kept herself from thinking about her fight with Snowfall but failed. "They had hurt me. But you don't see me starting a war."

Darkstalker scowled. "You should. You were basically thrown out of your own tribe."

"And you don't need to worry about it!" Frost interrupted. "Just please-"

Darkstalker held up his talons. "That's enough."

He thought for a moment, staring down on Frost as his enormous wings flapped.

"Who gave you that earring?"

Frost shut her mouth. He wasn't going to hurt him.

"Him?" Darkstalker said with a smirk.

"Me and my big mouth." She thought. She shut her mind.

"Oh, don't be like that." He chuckled. "You'll tell me eventually."

She scowled at him till she heard wing beats behind her.

"Winter."

Her eyes widened when she turned and found Winter flying towards them.

"Winter?" Darkstalker said with a smirk.

"No!" Frost yelled, turning to look at Darkstalker. "It's not him! I..It's someone else!"

"Your mind doesn't lie." Darkstalker grinned.

Winter flew over. "What are you doing?!" He hissed.

"Oh, she was just telling me how you were the one who gave her that earring." Darkstalker continued to grin.

Frost snarled, a bit of frost leaving her mouth. "He had nothing to do with this!"

"So sorry Moon," Darkstalker whispered to himself, looking toward Moon. He looked back at Frost.

"What he has done is treason to the future king. I'm sorry, but the punishment for treason is death."

"Camels dung to your rules!" Frost roared. "You shouldn't even be king!"

"Be quiet!" Darkstalker roared, some flames licking the sides of his mouth. Frost shut her mouth, glaring at Darkstalker. "I am King. No one will talk me down! I'll make an example!"

He turned toward Winter.

"Starting with you!"

He let out a roar and a blast of fire went straight for Winter.

"NO!" Frost roared.

Winter's eyes widened.

She flew for Winter, her right wing protecting her and Winter. The wing made a sizzling sound. She cried out in pain.

"Frost!" Winter yelled.

Frost gritted her teeth, trying to stay in the air. She looked toward her right wing. It looked like it melted like ice. She looked up at Darkstalker, wincing in pain. He scowled then turned toward the other dragons.

"What are you doing?! Fight!"

Frost looked at the Icewings and the Nightwings. They just hovered in the air, looking at one another. She saw Qibli smirking next to Anemone. Darkstalker roared and flew for Qibli, snatching him with his talons.

"No!" Frost yelled. She tried flying after them, crying out in pain with each flap.

"Frost! Stop!" Winter called. She flapped faster until her wings gave out. She watched Darkstalker get smaller and smaller as she fell. Her vision blurred. The last thing she saw was a shimmer of blue flying toward her.

Frost heard mumbling.

"Will she be able to fly again?" A voice asked.

"We won't know till she wakes up." A calm masculine voice replied.

Frost slowly opened her eyes. She saw Sunny and Clay talking while Tsunami kept Kinkajou from coming into the room. Frost saw Moon and Turtle behind Kinkajou.

Frost sat up with a start.

Where was Qibli?

Where was Winter?

"Frost!" Sunny exclaimed. "You're awake!"

Frost stood up, wincing during the process.

"Frost, slow down." Clay assured her. "You're still injured."

"Where's Winter?" She croaked.

"Frost."

Frost turned as Tsunami let Winter into the room. Kinkajou and Turtle follow close behind him.

"Winter." Frost sighed with relief. Winter wrapped his wings around her in a hug. She winced, but said nothing. She nudged his head with hers.

"Where's Qibli?" She asked, pulling away.

"Right here."

Frost turned to find Qibli standing with Moon at the doorway. He grinned.

"And Darkstalker?"

"Gone." Moon said.

"We won." Winter said.

"But, he's immortal? How did you guys defeat him?"

"That's where I come in." Kinkajou giggled, excitedly.

"She's been waiting to tell you for a while." Winter chuckled, rolling his eyes.

"I got Darkstalker's scroll and enchanted a strawberry to turn him into a one year old rainwing/nightwing dragonet named Peacemaker once eaten. He's now living in the rainforest with his mother, Hope." Kinkajou smiled, ignoring Winter.

Frost chuckled, then felt talons on her left horn. She looked to her left and watched as Winter took off the horn ring with no trouble. Frost stared at him.

"How-"

"Darkstalker's gone." Turtle spoke. "The ring has served its purpose."

Winter held the ring in his talons, then looked at Frost. "What do you want to do with it?"

Frost grinned. She placed it on the ground and looked toward Moon and Qibli.

Qibli grinned from ear to ear. He and Moon took a deep breath then blasted fire on the ring.

"Careful!" Tsunami cried, but she grinned as well.

"Finally, no more wars." Frost sighed, leaning against Winter.

Clay and Sunny chuckled.

"No more wars." Clay repeated.

Frost sat on the ledge at the top of Jade Mountain. She closed her eyes, taking in the smell of the trees and the freshwater river.

She sighed.

"You alright?" Winter asked, flying up next to her.

"Perfectly fine." Frost smiled. Her smile fell as she looked down.

"How long will you be gone?" She asked, quietly.

He looked down as well. "I don't know."

Frost inhaled sharply, ruffling her wings.

"You could come with me."

Frost looked up at him.

"As long as you won't eat the scavengers."

Frost chuckled, nudging her wing against his. "I promise."

"Great." He spoke. Then he grinned. "Race you to the Prey Center!"

He took flight and glided for the academy.

"No fair!" Frost called, racing after him.

They laughed all the way back.

Thank you to all who read this story.

I figured I would give some fun facts about this story.

Fun fact #1: I thought of this story like three years ago and I'm surprised I still remembered it. I never wrote it down but I drew pictures.

Fun fact #2: Frost was supposed to have a pet scavenger that could read Frost's mind and Frost could read the scavenger's. The scavenger's name is Snapdragon. But I did not add her due to myself not understanding how Snapdragon could read Frost's mind.

Fun fact #3: I did have some help in creating this story from a friend, also three years ago.

Fun fact #4: To all those Fanwings out there, please don't get mad at me if I left something out or got something wrong. To be honest, I haven't read the books past 6. I know most of the story from the Fandom website, YouTube videos and animations, and *Prophecies.*
