Ariadne looked around the backyard to see all Hogwarts students that were going back to school in a few days. Hogwarts' parents liked throwing a party for their children before they went back. Ariadne saw her oldest nephew laughing with his friends. She couldn't believe that he was sixteen and going into his sixth year at Hogwarts. Both of her nieces were going too. She couldn't believe that they were at that age. She didn't know how she was going to feel when her daughters went to Hogwarts. She was glad that she still got three years before Hazel was ready to go to Hogwarts.
"I know how you are feeling," Ariadne looked over and saw Hermione sitting next to her. Ariadne smiled at Hermione.
"Feeling what?" Ariadne asked.
"Knowing that your children still have a few years before they go, but knowing that they will be going soon," Hermione looked over at Jason. "I remember when I was nervous about Rose going for the first time and I remember how she was when it was Jason first year."
Ariadne laughed. "Rose was nervous wreck, she told me she was wondering how they were going to treat her baby."
Hermione rolled her eyes. "I wouldn't laugh because you are going to feel the same thing when Hazel goes."
Ariadne sighed. "I know, but did you even worse when Hugo went and there were no children in your house?"
Hermione looked for her son and found him talking with Scorpius and some of his cousins. "By the time it was time for Hugo to go, Ron and I couldn't wait for him to leave. We were looking forward to having the house to ourselves." Ariadne laughed. "Don't tell him I said that."
"My lips are sealed," Ariadne buttoned her mouth.
"You are not going to have a moment without your girls," Hermione glanced at Ariadne's belly.
Ariadne patted her belly. "I know, by the time this little one goes to Hogwarts Hazel and Paige will be gone and not living at home with me."
Hermione nodded. "Did you and Hugo find out what you are having?"
Ariadne nodded. "We decided that we weren't going to tell anyone."
Hermione moaned. "I was hoping that you would say that it is granddaughter."
Ariadne smiled. "You are just going to have to wait until they are born before you find out. Just know this, Hugo and I know what they are."
"Damn, I don't know if I'll win that bet with Ginny or not," Hermione mumbled.
Ariadne eyes widen. "You made a bet about the sex of your grandchild." Hermione shrugged her shoulders. "Are you going to donate it to Hogwarts?"
Hermione laughed. "No, Ron will never know about it." Ariadne shook her head. Ariadne turned away to see where her daughters were, but they weren't around. Ariadne knew that they could be anywhere on Malfoy land with the other children. While she was looking, she caught Hugo's eyes and smiled. She loved that they could be in a room with others but when they caught each other's eye it was only the two of them. "So, what is going on in your relationship with my son?" Ariadne choked on her drink. "I see the way you two look at each other. You never looked at Dean like that or Hugo never looked at Rachel that way."
Ariadne sighed. "I love your son and he love me. We are just enjoying that right now."
"Are you thinking about wedding bells?" Hermione asked. "Not that I'm pushing you towards it."
Ariadne looked towards Hugo to see that he was talking to Hazel. He had become part of their lives. He was better a father to the girls than their own father. Ariadne watched as Hazel smiled before running off again. She was glad that the girls went to him too. Ariadne looked back at Hermione to see a small smile on her face. "To be perfectly honest I haven't told him that I love him yet."
"Why not? Everyone who looks at you two can see that you two are made for each other?"
Ariadne sighed. "I know your son will ask me to marry him as soon as I tell him."
"He wants to spend the rest of his life with you," Hermione took a quick glance at Hugo to see that he was making his way over to them.
"We have only been divorced for a year, and it might seem that we are moving too fast," Ariadne said her fears.
Hermione waved her off. Before she could say anything, Hugo was standing in front of them. He looked from his mother to his girlfriend. "What are you two talking?" Hugo smiled and it melted Ariadne's heart even those they have been together since April.
"You," Hermione told her son. "It something we have in common."
Hugo rolled his eyes. "I hope it is only good things," He smiled.
"She was telling me that you still don't get your socks in the laundry basket," Hermione stared down her son. Ariadne couldn't help by laugh because it was true.
"I get my socks in the basket," Hugo looked over to Ariadne to see she was shaking her head. "What?"
"Ellie is always finding your socks around our room," Ariadne laughed. "I hear her mumbling about Master Hugo and socks."
Hugo placed his hands on the side of Ariadne's chair and leaned forward until their noses were almost touching. "How can you throw me under the broom like that?"
Ariadne wrapped an arm around Hugo's neck. "I know that you are never going to leave me," She kissed him. Hugo broke the kiss and placed a hand on Ariadne's belly to feel their child. He looked at her before standing.
Hugo turned to his mother. "I need you to tell her good things about me, not bad. I'm trying to win her hand."
Hermione glanced at Ariadne's belly. "I think that she already knows the good things, the bad things maybe not."
Hugo narrowed his eyes to his mother. "Don't you want her part of the family?"
"She has been part of this family for years even before you impregnate her," Hermione took a sip of her water.
Hugo shook his head. "And I thought you were my mother only wanting what is best for me."
"I do want what is best for you, but I also want what is best for Ariadne and her girls," Hermione said in quiet voice. Hugo nodded. He leaned down and kissed his mother on the cheek.
"Love you, too," Hugo gave Ariadne a look before walking away.
Ariadne waited until Hugo was out of hearing before saying. "You want what is best for me and the girls."
Hermione nodded. "My mother-in-law told me the same thing when Ron had proposed, and I hadn't agreed yet. She told me that I will always be part of the family, but I need to do what is best for me. You need to do that with you and the girls. Hugo never going to leave, and I knew that about Ron, but we must think about what is best for us." Hermione stood and walked away leaving Ariadne a lot to think about.
Ariadne started to pace her office at home. She decided to work from home today because she had some thinking to do about what she thought about what was best for her and the girls. She had thought about the words that Hermione had said on Saturday about what was best for her and the girls. She didn't push Ariadne into marrying Hugo. Ariadne knew that Hugo was never going to leave her or the children.
She thought back to when Hugo entered her life for the first time. She knew of the Weasleys because she saw them in school. They were always running around the school. She also saw how smart they were when they did schoolwork. She remembered watching Hugo get on the stool and the hat calling out his new house. She heard his cousins cheering him on as he found his seat next to his cousin.
Of course, Gryffindors and Slytherins had class together. Ariadne saw how smart he was. Everyone knew where he got his smarts from. He would beat her at every class. She watched him on the quidditch pitch when he was playing. She could tell that he was good at what he did. It wasn't until their siblings announced their marriage and had put Hugo and Ariadne together to portal the halls together that she got to know him. She started to have feelings for him.
It wasn't until Rose and Scorpius' wedding that she asked him to kiss her. The kiss rocked her world, but it hurt that he didn't feel the same about it. Having spent time with him she could read him, and she knew that he was lying about the kiss. She waited all of sixth year to make a move, but she barely saw him at school. She had to learn things about him through Lily, who had become her best friend. It was like Hugo was hiding from his feelings because he was dating every girl that he could.
The first time she spent any time with him was when they both came home to see their new nephew, Jason. They wanted to see their nephew for the first time and ran into each other at Rose and Scorpius place. She watched him hold Jason with Rose in the background waiting to take Jason if Hugo was done holding him. He smiled as he looked at Jason. Hugo loved that little boy. She barely got to hold him that day because Hugo had the baby most of the time. Ariadne had to come the next day to hold Jason some more.
Ariadne's remembered sitting on Hogwarts Express asking him if there was going to be any chance with them. Hugo threw it back in her face. She didn't know she made it through her seventh year without bursting into tears. She had to thank her friendship with Lily because she was there for her whenever she needed.
After Hogwarts, she was determined to forget about Hugo and move on with her life. After Hogwarts, Lily and she took a trip across Europe before starting their careers. Ariadne went to work for her family company and Lily went to play for the Holyhead Harpies.
Being close to the Weasley family meant that she was seeing Hugo at family gatherings. He was there for weddings and birthdays. He didn't say much to her. She can't remember him bringing any girl home. Since she gave up at Hugo, she started dating other men. It was during a party with her parents' old friends that she met Dean. He was charming through the whole party. After the party, he asked her out for a date. She agreed.
They dated for six months before he asked her to marry him. She jumped at the chance. She couldn't wait to plan the wedding. They had moved into the house that her aunt had left her. It wasn't long before she found that she was pregnant with Hazel. She fell in love with her daughter right away. She didn't notice that Dean wasn't too happy about the sex of the baby when they found out.
It wasn't until Paige was here that she started to notice things about Dean. It took her a few years before she got a divorce from him. She knew that she was going to raise the girls alone and was happy with that. She didn't think that Hugo would walk back into her life.
If he had given them a chance, she might never have married Dean and those girls would be his. Why did he ever put a stop to them when they both knew that it was going to be forever.
Ariadne stopped pacing. She couldn't move on with Hugo until she found out why he put a stop to them when they were teenagers. She was going to have ask him tonight. She was ready to get back to work when she felt a pair of arms around her. She knew that it was Hugo right away. She turned around to face him.
She wrapped her arms around him. "What are you doing here?"
"I thought that I would come home for lunch," By the look in his eyes. Ariadne knew what kind of lunch he was looking for.
Ariadne took a breath because now was better than later. "Hugo, why did you never give us a chance back in Hogwarts?"
