Well here's chapter three! Hope it wasn't too much of a wait, I wanted to make this one longer compared to the last.
As for the reason the last had been only 1k or 2k instead of my idea for atleast 6k, FFN would not co-operate with my attempts to save my progress. Thus causing me to end the chapter rather early.
Watchinf Firefly and it's at Bester's part... Dude, he is so STUPID..
I removed the little thing with when Angelina's brother was born. (Sorry this is in normal font.)
Anyways enough ranting. Enjoy the third chapter everyone. :)
King Raven, start of Operation Seashore.
Angelina sat cradling her Lancer as they got closer to the ship. She could already see smoke billowing into the sky; god knows the damage the ship will have when they get up close.
"Anybody feel like somethings off?" Alex asked, looking out towards the sea before turning to the ship. "This seems kind of sketchy to me."
Sergeant Jackson looked up at her from his Long-Shot, which he was checking for the seventh time. "Uh, the word goverment is involved. It's gonna be sketchy, Private Sanqueist." He said.
"Yeah, but, this feels more sketchy than the rest. It seems like a suicide mission," she looked at the Sergeant before adding, "we already lost the other four thanks to these operations.."
"Alexandria, don't go there." Her brother warned.
"..Fine." Alex looked back at the photo in her hand, "not my fault the goddamned goverment put my best friends death off like it never fuckin' happened."
"Hey, I'm sorry about Amanda. But we're about to land, and we need our heads in the game." Angelina looked at Alex before looking at the ship again, a feeling of uncertainty settling over her.
"Alright," Alex said as she stood, grabbing her Gnasher off of her back and walking to the door of the Raven, sighing.
As the rest did the same, Angelina couldn't help but wonder, "What the fuck happened here?"
The Raven reaches the ship and the group jumps down, their boots and heavy armor causing a thudding noise that probably attracted some Locust. They all took cover as the Raven lifted back into the sky - just for it to be shot back down as a Reaver flies by.
"Motherfucker! Reaver!" Angelina shouted, glaring at the Reaver that flew overhead, "Sarge, what the fuck do we do now?"
"Continue our mission. We can worry about how we'll get out of here later." He answered her, calm as ever, despite the situation.
She sighed and poked her head out of cover, spotting some Locust that were also behind cover.
"To the right, behind those crates. Five of 'em, from what I saw." She informed her squad before sticking her head back out to fire on the Locust. One of them pulled a Longshot and pointed it towards her head. "Shit, sniper!" She yelled as she ducked her head down. The shot from the Longshot rang through the air.
"Where?" Sergeant Jackson asked, pulling his Longshot out.
"Third crate to the right." Angelina said as she opened fire on the Locust squad.
Jackson aimed his Longshot at the crate and waited for the Locust sniper to poke his head out. Angelina kept a close watch on the other Locust, making sure to keep them from hitting the Sergeant.
The Locust Sniper poked it's head out and Jackson took the shot. Missed.
"Ahh, shit..." He muttered, ducking back into cover.
The Sniper fired, hitting nothing. Sergeant Jackson, who had already reloaded at that point, took advantage of the sniper reloading and popped out of cover. He fired of a round, which caught the Locust sniper in the head. His body fell to the floor with a satisfying thud.
"Ooh, that was nasty.." Dylan commented as he took out another Locust that had popped out of cover.
Angelina looked over to Alexandria, noticing her grabbing a grenade and nodded her head once. "Throw the grenade, already." she thought impatiently. As if on cue, Alex pulled out the Bolo grenade and tossed it at the Locust. One shouted something in foriegn language before dodging the grenade, barely escaping it. Angelina easily took out the creature before it could take aim on the group.
"Easy." She smirked, smug satisfaction all over her face.
"Don't get too smug," Dylan said, looking over to Angelina, "There's more."
She frowned at her friends pessimism. Real helpful when she's trying to think positive. Totally.
The fight continued for what felt like and hour, but it was probably just 10 minutes at the least. After Angelina finished off the last Locust, the squad moved farther into the ship. She looked around, surveying her surroundings. All clear so far.
"What's the point in rescuing this researcher? Why's she so important that we cant leave her to die like the rest of her team, huh?" Alex asked as they entered the lift control room.
"How should we know?" Angelina responded, looking at the brunette.
Alex simply rolled her eyes as she approached the controls. She pulled a lever and took a step back, watching the lift for a few seconds before turning to the group. "Let's go before it goes down without us, 'cause I doubt you guys wanna walk down there."
Angelina nodded and ran out with the rest of the squad, barely reaching the lift before it went down. She looked at Alex.
"Hey, what's that on the list behind you?" She asked as she walked up, ducking down and grabbing the object. It was a journal that belonged to a researcher, who's name was written on the first page in worn letters. "Mary Hamilton."
"Huh." Alex and Dylan walked over to her, reading the first page. "It's about Imulsion."
"Yeah. Dylan, here. You take it for now, I think it may be something we'll wanna look into later." Dylan took it and put in his pack.
The lift reaches the ground, and the crew walks off, searching the room. Turned out, there were a couple Locust in the place. Angelina and Dylan took cover as they fired at them, then fired back. That was easy. They got out of cover and continued searching the ship. Dylan walked over to his sister to assist her.A small compartment in a wall sparked Angelina's curiousity a bit, and she went to it, pulling it open.
"What the fuck?" Someone was in there. Wearing a black shirt and light blue jeans, with a slightly ripped white coat, a redheaded woman looked at Angelina with a small frown. The nametag on her coat read: "Milton".
"Guys, I think I found her!" She yelled to the others.
They ran up. Angelina reached a hand out to the woman in the compartment, and she took it hesitantly, pulling herself out.
"Thanks, uhh.."
"Angelina. That's Sergeant Jackson, and those two are Alex and Dylan."
"Ah. Well thank you." Ivy straightened out.
"It was our mission." Angelina said.
Sergeant Jackson spoke into Comms. "Control, this is Sergeant Jackson. We found Milton, she's unharmed. Our chopper went down, we'll need a new one."
Control responds. "Roger that, Charlie 1. We'll have one out there as soon as possible."
"Understood. Charlie 1 out."
The squad makes their way to the lift, with Alex going to the lift controls. Once she pulled the lever she ran down to the lift with the others.
As soon as they got up, they were greeted by a Boomer, and a couple Locust. Sarge shouted something indistinct.
They all roll out the way, with Angelina grabbing Milton, as the Boomer takes a shot. It explodes just before Dylan got completely out of the radius, and he took a bit of debris. He took a second to recover.
Angelina opened fire on the Boomer, most shots hitting. As she reloaded, Alexandria took her place firing at the Locust. The Boomer finally hits the ground, and they focus fire on the others.
Dylan, the reckless bastard, ran in front of a couple of the Locust. It was sheer fucking luck he managed to kill them with his Gnasher before it killed him. Angelina looked over to Milton, who had grabbed a Hammerburst from a fallen Locust and was currently using it to kill a Locust who was trying to flank them.
She heard Alex shout and looked over to her. 'Shit! She took a bullet!' Angelina ran to Alex, since she was in closest position to her.
"Alex! Shit.. That's bad." She crouched next to her and examined the wound closer.
"Real bad then, huh?" Alex asked, trying to hide the pain in her voice.
Angie sighed. "Fuck, yes it is.." It caught her in the abdomen.
Angelina dragged her to proper cover. 'C'mon.. Hurry up, for fucks sakes!'
She looked around, realizing Sergeant Jackson was nowhere to be seen. Shit, this isn't working out well...
Alexandria's P.O.V
She placed her hand on the bullet wound, applying pressure to it as well as she could. Not that it meant much.
She watched Angie take cover, firing at the remaining Locust.
She frowned, and winced in pain. She felt rather weak... She coughed suddenly, then winced again. Fuck, that hurt.
She looked at Angelina and Dylan again, vaguely aware she was starting to black out. Angelina rushes up to ger, saying something ineligible. Her sight grew more dimmed..
BECAUSE I FAILED TO FINISH THIS AS QUICK AS I MEANT TO I CUT THE CHAPTER REALLY SHORT..
Anyways hope you enjoyed the chapter.
Peace out.
