Chapter 9: The Carnegie Science Center Sleepover
One mild third Saturday of December 2023, I met up with my childhood friends Sarah, James, and Henri, along with some of my other best friends Carly Shay and Spencer Puckett, as well as Carly's stepdad, Freddie Benson, at the Carnegie Science Center for client Abigail Carson's sleepover. "Hi, guys!" I greeted my friends. "Hi, Angel!" Sarah greeted back. After starting things off at PPG Place, we headed to the Carnegie Science Center for the main event, listening to music from Kate Bush and NSYNC in addition to traditional holiday music. Activities included the Laser Holiday Lights show, the On a Roll Game, painting pizzas, and even additional activities like making s'mores, painting our nails, and playing board games. "See, Abigail?" Sarah asked. "You were worried about not finding activities to do for your sleepover last week, and here we are doing all of your favorite activities!" "And, even a recycling presentation for tonight!" Abigail explained. "One project that I did not do very well on in high school," Sarah stated. "I liked getting together with Angel and her friends at Edinboro University for pizza and ice cream for one last time," Carly stated. "I like playing Trivial Pursuit the best, Mr. Benson," Henri happily stated. "That is my favorite board game, too, Henri," Mr. Benson agreed. "So, s'mores are not just a summertime thing, James," Spencer stated. "Of course not, Spencer," James replied. "They can be fun to eat during the holidays, too." "I also didn't know that we were going to get our nails done right after the employee carnival, Sarah," Carly stated. "Well, each day is a surprise when working at Pittsburgh's Perfect Parties, Carly," Sarah stated. "Also, October ended up being like 2019 this year, not 2001 because of all of the warm spells and this December will end up being like 2015 this year, not 2009 because of all of the warm weather that we are having," I told my friends. "Very interesting, Angel," Sarah told me. "I wonder what Alex and her friends are doing at the hotel prior to our big Mon Valley Christmas party tomorrow," I stated. "Maybe watching a holiday movie rather than a Disney movie, and making face masks and friendship bracelets!" "They just might be, Angel," Sarah told me. Pretty soon, it was time for all of us to go to bed. "Thanks for a great day, everyone!" I thanked my friends. "You're welcome, Angel," Sarah replied. "Good night, guys!" "Good night!"
