Epilogue of Sword Art Online Re:Start by DxDBourne

So, I may have pulled the plug on the story but y'all deserve to have some idea of how it goes and ends so here we go;

We left off after the party had freed Toran's body of Evil Kayaba's control which, unbeknownst to the party at the time, was thanks to the help of Good Kayaba who separated Torans consciousness from his data (his body) and Toran's will power to help them did the rest.

After that, Kazuto eventually returns to the real world and is suddenly called to the JSDF Headquarters and Kikuoka basically asks for a personal update on what's happened, Kazuto tells kikuoka all about the issues with evil Kayaba and also about Toran to wish Kikuoka tells Kazuto that helping Toran is not a priority and that the mission for the medicuboid blueprints is to take priority over anything else at any cost. Kazuto mentions the possibility of saving Toran, but Kikuoka says that if worse comes to worst, he is to be sacrificed for the good of the country.

After this Kazuto gets kind of angsty for a bit and starts to do a lot of things alone to try and encounter evil Kayaba again. He takes part in suddenly arranged out of the blue tournament on the 23rd floor that he believes evil Kayaba might attend or he could at least get his attention.

He reaches the finals of the tournament only to meet Asuna in the final, both of whom didn't know that the other was competing. This sparks a slight argument about trust between them, but Kirito makes the very unpopular with the crowd but gentlemanly move of forfeiting the final, so he doesn't have to hurt her.

That night, Kazuto finally has the chat with her about being more open with his feelings towards the other girls and Asuna is reluctant, she initially believes that everything is fine as it is, and he doesn't need to try and pursue them further. Kazuto then tells her about his kiss with Lisbeth during the Oz quest and Asuna gets a bit angry and walks off.

It eventually takes Lisbeth, silica, and Leafa a confession of love for Kirito to Asuna when she confronts Kirito about it again and he promises her that they will never replace her and her condition is that affection towards them is only allowed in game and not with her around, and that Kirito is to never hide anything from her again. Kirito also drops a slightly unintentional bombshell that he plans to marry her and only her which makes her slightly more content and that essentially starts the proper harem and ends that arc.

Meanwhile, Toran woke up from his respawn with a hazy memory of what happened but recalls to Sinon that he saw good Kayaba before he was given his consciousness back and asked good Kayaba for the medicuboid blueprints or if he could be logged out but good Kayaba can't do anything unless he takes evil Kayaba's place as administrator, in order to do so, they need to climb to the 100th floor and defeat evil Kayaba's data itself.

As they walk around together, Sinon asks him what the first thing he's going to do when they get him out of the game is, and he is not sure because he doesn't really know what's changed in the outside world, but he says the first thing he wants to do after he gets out of the hospital he's in is go find her Irl and become her real boyfriend.

Some fights and arcs happen in between, Kazuto finally goes to see Argo Irl and Kazuto takes her on a semi-date, but they don't do anything lovey-dovey as he tells her about his agreement with Asuna which she is very content in following. And they also climb a few more floors in the game.

Then at a higher floor, evil Kayaba tries to possess Toran again but good Kayaba manages to block it, this is when toran tells the whole gang about good Kayaba's help and how he can get them what they need if they just defeat evil Kayaba on the 100th floor as that is where evil Kayaba's real data is. Kirito tries to get in contact with good Kayaba, but he fails as Toran finds out that evil Kayaba could wipe good Kayaba's from the game if he gets too involved so he can only help them so much.

After that kirito has another one on one affection arc, this time with Leafa as they both compete in a massive dungeon trials competition that requires them to complete fights and challenges within a dungeon against others and the winning duo get a random legendary item (Leafa is the only one in the party that doesn't have any legendary items so that's why they do it).

At one point, they're hiding from a tempered Lava-Taur (a minotaur made of molten lava) and kirito brings up the idea of feelings towards each other, which makes Leafa more and more flustered to the point where she accidentally reveals their hiding spot and kirito sacrifices himself to save her as shes about to be hit by its finisher.

Kirito's avatar enters an unconscious as his hp bar went to 1% or below but didn't die so Leafa fights the Lava-Taur by herself and uses a lot of Kirito's techniques to defeat it, eventually saving Kirito in the nick of time. Eventually, the reach the final which is a battle between the final two standing duos.

They start off poorly by getting hit by an attack that force disarms them for 5 minutes, they eventually win anyway by using a super rare, two person move called Limit Break that Kirito has only ever performed once with Asuna before. After standing on the podium and accepting the legendary item, Leafa kisses him passionately in front of everyone and calls him "Kirito" for the first time ever since Alfheim as an acknowledgment and oath to herself that she will see Kazuto and Kirito as two different people, one as her brother, and one as her lover.

After more small arcs happen, Toran, Sinon and Tamaki go fight a dragon on a higher floor (unbeknownst to Sinon and Tamaki, Toran is doing it as he knows it's another way to get a powerful ring with an even better enchantment than the one they lost in the lake on floor 22) after a lot of struggling, they manage to defeat the dragon and Toran uses the ring he got for the final hit bonus to propose to Sinon in-game to act as a promise that both his in-game self and his real self belong to her and that he will find her the moment he returns to the real world. Sinon accepts and the receive their marriage perks after a small ceremony on the 22nd floor)

To be honest, there's not much more to say until the ending so to summarise, Kirito has his confession moment with silica, Tamaki, Aki, and Argo and probably bangs all the girls, i mean why wouldn't he to be honest. And there's a lot of boss fighting and small character stuff up until the 99th floor. You get the picture, honestly, I'd have run out of ideas by this point.

The Ending (I won't go into too much detail I promise)

Essentially, during the 99th floor boss fight, Asuna, Klein, Lisbeth, Silica, Leafa, and Agil all get killed by the boss and only Kirito, Toran, and Sinon are left after they kill it. And once they enter the Ruby Palace grounds, every single other player is forcibly logged out and cannot log back in, while the three in the palace's log outs are disabled so no one can enter, and no one can leave.

Evil Kayaba's true body arrives, and a final fight ensues after he enables perma-death once more. Evil Kayaba disables all movement delays and de-buffs on all skills so that they can go all out, and a massive battle ensues. Kirito and Toran tag team sword skill after sword skill and Sinon provides cover fire with her bow skills.

The whole floor starts to get destroyed and just when they think they're about to succeed, evil Kayaba makes a sudden move to kill Sinon with the strongest move in the game, but at the last second Toran jumps in the way and takes the blow himself, killing him as evil Kayaba erases his data completely.

Kirito is momentarily stuck fighting evil Kayaba by himself as Sinon just shuts down completely after seeing toran get deleted and gets closer and closer to death.

Sinon eventually hears the voice of good Kayaba and he reveals that torans death has allowed him to take slight control of the moderation of the game in torans place and basically gives Sinon a bow stronger than god and she uses it to shoot a heavenly arrow that rips evil Kayaba clean in half, and before evil Kayaba can even think, Kirito uses Starburst Stream to obliterate his entire data and good Kayaba deletes evil Kayaba's data from the game after it separates enough to be deleted by moderation, putting it all to an end.

Aincrad as a whole starts to crumble and deteriorate, and good Kayaba reveals that evil Kayaba put a failsafe on the system that will delete absolutely everything almost immediately and reveals that he could possibly save torans data from deletion but there wouldn't be enough time to save anything else, so in the end, Kirito must make one final choice;

Save Toran and sacrifice the medicuboid blueprints or save the blueprints and sacrifice Toran.

Good Kayaba says that Kirito only has a minute or so to decide, so Kirito uses the time to go to Sinon to ask her and she says to save the medicuboid and just leave her there to go down with Aincrad as she has no reason to leave or live. Kirito tries to reason with her but the ground cracks beneath her and Sinon falls into the cyber abyss.

Kirito quickly rushes back to good Kayaba who now has a kind of transparent body and through building tears, makes the tough decision to sacrifice his friend to complete their mission. Kayaba then disappears and after a few more seconds of crumbling castle, everything goes black.

Kazuto eventually wakes up in the hospital with everyone around him and Sinon (who Kayaba managed to log out before she became data in the cyberspace). Kazuto gets up sorrowfully and lets everyone know the mission was a success, but that Toran was sacrificed to do so.

The medicuboid blueprints appear on the USB that Kazuto gave Dr Kawahara at the start of the mission and after a long debrief that Kazuto and Sinon barely listen to, they are all sent home and are dismissed from government supervision.

As the sun sets, Kazuto and Shino agree to go and pay their respects to Toran on his deathbed in the hospital so they drive there on Kazuto's motorcycle and as they get there, they see the road is crossed off with an ambulance wailing in front of the door. They run inside and head up to Torans floor to see people crowding around the door to his hospital room.

They both try to push through, which only Shino is successful at, and her heart drops and her eyes widen at the sight of Toran, in real life, with his eyes open. He looked dreadful, but he was awake. Kirito also manages to squeeze through, and joy overcomes him as he receives a message on his phone from an unknown number saying:

"Turns out someone beat me to the punch. That kid is quite the sly fox. Give him my thanks."

Essentially revealing that Toran managed to get himself stuck in the DataStream and get his hands on evil Kayaba's data and stole the blueprints off him and sent them to good Kayaba unknown to him until after the failsafe activated.

The story ends as Tobi, the real life Toran, looks listlessly at his parents, but lays eyes on Shino and the first words to come out of his mouth is her in-game name. Shino slowly walks up to him, takes his hand, and says his name in turn. She smiles with tears in her eyes, he manages a small smile in return, and Fin.

So that's how it ends. I've had that entire ending planned since I restarted the project in like 2018 or something.

So, I hope this was at least someone cohesive and you get some sort of satisfaction out of it. I'm just glad I could finally put it words after all these years, albeit not the long, fleshed out words they should've been.

Alright, sayonara for real this time lmao
