Author's Note: WHAT IS UP MUCKAAAACHUNGAAAAS!? IT'S TRAVEZTY! And Today I am going to be bringing you the Session 0 of a story that I, along with the aid of TheRealD3lph0xL0v3r and I have been brainstorming together for several weeks now! It is my first ever attempt at creating a Dungeons and Dragons x Legend of Zelda Story that I, hopefully, will be something that brightens up your day! Now while this specific chapter will be the Session 0 and the Set Up for the events to come later on in the story, there are a few things I need to make clear to everyone here so that I don't get any pushback from anyone who gives me lip about my story "not following the rules of Zelda Lore".
Rule #1: THIS IS MY STORY! I know this is a lot for people to grapple with but I am making this story to entertain the number of people who will enjoy a little twist on the Zelda Lore, not to get into any sort of arguments with short-sighted morons who don't appreciate a very fresh perspective on such a well loved series!
Rule #2: Despite the statement of Rule #1, and mostly because of it, I LOVE THE LEGEND OF ZELDA SERIES! I have watched most of Chuggaaconroy's Let's Plays of Legend of Zelda Games: Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass, Skyward Sword, and I've watched the Cutscene Movies for Hyrule Warriors, and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity w/ the DLC. I've even played a few Legend of Zelda games in the past, and though I didn't beat them, mostly due to my own stupidity, I loved them all the same! Hell, I don't know how many times I played Ocarina of Time trying to figure out how to get out of a certain puzzle, I even owned Twilight Princess for a Time but got I stuck on a puzzle in the Twilight Realm, only for my copy of the game to get smashed before I could progress any further! While I did mess around on those games a lot, I had an absolute blast!
Rule #3:This Story will take inspiration from Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, both Hyrule Warriors Games, Breath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom (though I still need to watch the cutscene movies for those two), and will be built upon a fantastic theory put forth by the Game Theorists in their video: "Game Theory: Link Is NOT Who You Think He Is... (The Legend of Zelda)". For those who have not watched said Game Theory, I highly recommend you go watch it before you read into this chapter and any following chapters so that you guys have a basis for this story's progression.
But for those who are too lazy to go listen to MatPat's logic and reasoning, the TL:DR of that Theory is that the Link from Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass does not contain the "Spirit of the Hero" namely due to the fact that the Spirit will only reincarnate in the Hero's Direct Bloodline, which all the Knightly Houses of Hyrule are a part of, and Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass, hell even Spirit Tracks, Link, according to the Lore of those games, are in no way connected to Hero's Bloodline. Nor are they related to the Knights who inherited Skyward Sword Link's blood due to Hero of Time Link never producing an Heir in the Adult Timeline. Add to that the fact that, according to the video, the southernmost island within Ocarina's Hyrule was Greatfish Isle, which was situated in the Lake Hylia Region, while Outset Island is further south than that. This means that Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass Link is not of Skyward Sword's Bloodline, he's a peasant who got shoe-horned into the position of hero, and almost, if not all. of the Knights sacrificed themselves to allow the civilians to escape the flooding of Hyrule and keep the monsters from following them. Because of these factors, Gannondorf, as the Spirit of the Hero doesn't exist in the Adult Timeline, it's the last time Demise's reincarnation ever returns, as the Blood of the Goddess AND the Spirit of the Hero are the sources of Demise's curse, the Positive and Negative Energy Charges to fuel it. Get rid of one those two key components and POOF the curse can't sustain itself and Demise is gone for good.
Oh, two more things before I get to Rule 4, This story will also be implementing the Timeline Fix that MatPat suggested that makes the non-Canon "Hyrule Warriors" game a canonical one, as, from what the theory puts forth, actually makes a lot of sense if Hyrule Warriors were Canonical. The Video I'm talking about is "Game Theory: Dear Nintendo, I FIXED Your Timeline! (Zelda)". To TL:DR this one again for those of you too lazy to go watch it yourselves, according to the theory, thanks to Sia in Hyrule Warriors, All Three of the Zelda Timelines got merged back into one solid timeline thanks to her, and thanks to that, the Rito and Zora are able to exist, and plenty of creatures and persons from all three timelines exist in a single one as a whole, thus allowing for the Rito and Zora to live side by side with each other in the same world.
Also I will be using the Video "Zelda's INSANE WEATHER! The SCIENCE!… of Zelda Breath of the Wild REUPLOAD" which has determined that, not only is Hyrule a Temperate Rainforest, like my home state of Alaska, but also it's size being just under 52 Square Miles in size. Screen Rant had 4 other Metrics to determine Hyrule's Size from a few attempts. From Arekkz Gaming, they mentioned in their article titled "Zelda: How Big BOTW's Map Would Be In Real Life". In one of these metrics, they found that Director Hidemaro Fujibayashi's inspiration for the map was that of Kyoto, Japan, which, when the numbers come out to 320 square miles. For Arekkz Gaming, when using links as a basic measuring stick, came up with BotW/TotK Hyrule being just over 9 Square Miles, but Screen Rant took into consideration the Time Displacement between IRL and BotW/TotK and redid the math so that it came out to a more reasonable 33, 270 Square Miles. Finally, in the article, there is information from Dataminers who used the metrics for the Game's own software to determine the size of the In-Game Map. This data eventually came out to be about 31 square miles.
For me, these are good numbers, but I think combining them and then averaging them out will make things a bit more my style. *Does the Math* Okay so after adding up all of these numbers together and then dividing by 5, we come out to a final grand total of 6,737 Square Miles for our Hyrule! Holy Frijoles Batman! That is much bigger than I expected, thats even bigger than the Archipelago that I live in! That's slightly smaller than Seram Island of Maluku Province in Indonesia, smaller by 2 square miles! Okay I'm done, onto rule $4!
Finally, Rule #4: I know what people are going to say about my version of Link in this story and to them I say "SCREW YOU!". What I mean by this is that the Link I'm going to put forth for you guys is not going to be some Paladin, Fighter, or Ranger, as I am sure many Link Tutorials have had you guys believing that is what Link is. Well I'm going to spoil a bit of information for the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time (Himekawa) Manga that I read back when I was younger. Not many people know this, but in that Manga, the Boss of the Fire Temple, Volvagia, was not just some big bad evil dragon, but a Dragon Wyrmling that Link had freed from enslavement, the two of them having been good friends before Gannondorf had corrupted him with his dark magics. So, in another Timeline, Link was, once again, setting free his friend from enslavement, only this time to a much darker and more malevolent master, and Volvagia knew this, showing gratitude to his savior as he died.
Another source of inspiration from the Legend of Zelda that has influenced my choice was the Hyrule Warriors Villain Volga, who, as many who played the game or studied the lore of that game knows, wasn't originally a bad guy, in fact, he was a heroic Dragon Knight who defended the Eldin Caves, which, if my lore and hypothesis are right, are connected to the Sacred Dragon Eldin of the Eldin Volcano from Skyward Sword, at least in name. In this area he not only protected the sacred caves, but also the Gorons that lived there, that is until Cia defeated him in battle and tempted him with her dark power. This heroic figure is what Inspired me to make my choice into Link's Class.
Now many people like to say that MONKS are the Weakest Martial Class in the Game, and, at least in the beginning, they are. However, the problem that most people don't realize is that Monks are what I like to call a "Slow-Burn'' class, meaning that they start out cooking with wood before, at a certain point, they start cooking with gas, and then eventually Nitroglycerin. Monks are weak in the early stages for a reason, it's meant to emphasize how badass they are in the late game. As for how this relates to Link? Well I'm turning Link into a Monk, modeled after Volga, namely I'm turning him into my Homebrew Version of a Way of the Ascendant Dragon Monk: The Way of the Greatwyrm. This Subclass I developed essentially takes the Way of the Ascendant Dragon and throws in some Fairy Tail Dragon Slayer Magic into the Mix, making it stronger than before, with some added bonuses. So I'm not only paying tribute to Link's Friendship with Volvagia, but also to Volga himself. Other than this, I won't spoil anything more, but I promise you guys won't be disappointed with what I am plotting!
Other than that, I have nothing more to say, please enjoy the Backstories of both the Setting and each of our Heroes! So this is enough out of me for now, please be sure to Follow, Favorite, Review, and Share this story with anyone and everyone you know who likes Legend of Zelda and Dungeons and Dragon's Content. Catch ya on the Flipside! ZODIA!
Session 0: The World and the Guardians
The World as we know it has changed… For the past thousand years, the Hero, the Goddess, and the Demon King have been battling to maintain peace and order within the Kingdom of Hyrule. Every Century or so, whenever the Demon King is Reborn, so are the Goddess and the Hero to combat them and to fight them. Always in an endless cycle of pain and suffering, war and strife, life and death… The Cycle has continued for thousands of years, all until the one day where Time Itself was shattered into 3 Branches; One where the Hero had been defeated, and Hyrule was destroyed, yet the Hero's Line was strong enough to Endure to face him again… Another where the Hero had traveled to the Future in order to save a future on the Brink of Collapse, only to no longer exist and for the Hero's Line to be completely erased… And a Third where the Hero, after his quest was done in the Future, returned to his time to do the same thing once more in his own time, and his line endured…
However, if History Abhors a Paradox, then three it absolutely despises, and so it sought a way to restore itself to it's true course, and as such, the Spirits of the Three Timelines, came together to formulate a plan to rejoin as one, and as such, it felt to the Spirit of the Timeline where the Hero's Bloodline remained at it's strongest, the Timeline where the Hero had returned to his own time and stopped the Calamity from happening. So this spirit had created a situation that would provide the Spirits with the opportunity to reunite as one entity, and, to their delight, it had occurred. However, as they attempted to reunite as one, they realized at the end of it that they would be lonely as one being… So the three spirits chose to remain separate and unique, so they would not be lonely again.
To this, the Spirit of Downfall would take command of the Evils that would plague and test the Heroes, whilst the Spirit of the Lost would take command of the Heroes, guiding them towards their destiny, with the Spirit of the Concurrent would set the scenario in which the three would play together, creating the people the Heroes would interact with, and creating the challenges they would need to overcome. All of these three Silver Spirits would create a means, with the Golden Goddesses watching in approval.
However, unfortunately, after thousands of years of them playing together, something had happened to cause another Break in the Timeline, for the dice they used to determine the fate of their Heroes had caused the Blood of the Goddess to be Transported into the Far Past, before her Era. However, this Time Break Still Fresh and uninhabited, presented an opportunity, and the Silver Spirits decided to use it… With this, they used it to reflect upon their split timelines, and learn how it is they could create a grand possible conclusion to their stories, and secure a legend for all time. They bring the elements of this Time Break into the Final Game of theirs, and to secure the Legend they always desired: The Legend of Zelda.
Introductions:
Princess Zelda:
Have you ever been crushed by expectations? As if you did everything you could, and it was still not enough to win the approval of those you care about most? That is what I have had to face all my life. As the Crown Princess of the Kingdom of Hyrule, I had to deal with my father's constant disapproval. I was supposed to be devoting my time to unlocking my Divine Soul Powers, only for the damn power to never manifest itself… Thanks to this, I have begun to think that I was nothing more than useless. However, despite this, I have devoted much of my energies, whenever I am not trying to unlock my powers, to the one thing I am truly passionate about: Inventing. In the Past, during the Age of the Wild Tears, as my ancestor called them, our Kingdom had been one of great and wondrous technologies, created by the Ancient Sheikah, where they had created machines known as Guardians that allowed them to fight against the Forces of the Calamity. However, the Calamity quickly took over these machines and we were unable to defend ourselves against what we thought were our own allies.
However, I had discovered the flaw that had allowed the Calamity to take over them, the machines were incomplete, as they were mass-produced, rather than created by each individual who bonded to their creations. However, my insights into the Guardians had only gotten me so far, and, as such, I had much that I still needed to learn so that I could perfect my Guardian Design: the Defender. During one of my inspections into the ancient technologies, I had discovered the remains of an ancient weapon that was more powerful than any handheld crossbow that I had uncovered, and, if I found a way to bond my powers to it, I could, in theory, create an unlimited amount of ammunition for it without having to worry about reloading. Not only that, I had discovered a device that, to my surprise, allowed me to access my magic through it, using the device as a medium through which I could channel my hidden abilities! Granted, they wouldn't be as strong as that of my Divine Soul Ancestors, but it was at least something, and that was better than nothing!
I brought this information to my father, but he did not approve, but in his frustration, I had heard him mention something about a "brother". When I tried to press him for answers, realizing that my father had a legitimate heir to the throne, meaning that I could continue my passions unimpeded, he refused to speak on it. It was then I decided to take matters into my own hands, and while I kept up the ruse of a normal routine, I had been delving into the Royal Records, something that took me weeks to find even a scrap of evidence. However, these scraps weren't enough so… Out of desperation, I had snuck into my father's room and peeked into his Journal, and there, I would find the evidence I needed. I had a twin brother named Link, and my mother, to my shock, wasn't dead, she was actually the Queen of the Gerudo, and leader of the Dragmire Tribe… The Same Tribe which the Calamity's Human Form was descended from and rebelled against him to end his reign of terror. This meant that I shared blood with the Calamity, and so did my brother…!
However, from what I knew of the Legends, the Calamity wasn't dead, as far as everyone liked to believe, but was actually sealed away, meaning that my brother, Link, would be persecuted because of him being born a Male Gerudo, something that only happened very rarely, usually when the Calamity was reborn! With this in my mind, and a fire in my heart, I packed up what I could, knowing that if I confronted my father about this, he'd do his utmost to prevent me from leaving the castle until I unlocked those damnable powers. So I have but one mission now: To Find my Twin Brother, and to end the Calamity once and for all!
Corvus:
To most, Corvus may just be your average Rito in the Sprawling expanses of Hyrule, however, there is something very few know about him. He is, in fact, a Bard Extraordinaire, but the origins of this blue and gold menace upon the ladies are quite humble to be sure! You see, Corvus grew up within Rito Village, amongst the highest, non-volcanic, peaks of the Kingdom, where, most days, he would be playing a game of cards with his friends, known as Hyrule Warriors. Oh Corvus could go on for hours about it, but suffice it to say it was a card-based Roleplaying Game where you used cards that contained the information of different Heroes and Villains throughout history, and the recorded timelines, to aid you in your quest, and would use the magic items associated with them in epic, and competitive, campaigns of epic storytelling. Suffice it to say, Corvus was one of, if not the, best player of the game in his village.
However, his love of the game was only matched by his love of music, for he had done his best to memorize every song from each of the past eras to create epic soundtracks for his heroes, playing the Accordion, Lute, and Zulkoon to play for the battles with both his friends and opponents. His love of both Cards and Music became so well known that another Rito Bard, an old but famous musician, named Kass, had decided to take Corvus under his wing, teaching him everything he needed to know, and even expanding upon Corvus's repertoire. Amazingly, Corvus had managed to, somehow, find a way to incorporate the Bardic Magic he had learned from Kass into his Cards, and learned to use them in place of his musical instruments.
However, Corvus's first real test came when he had found a young woman, having run away from home, who found her way to Rito Village. Despite the Noble Bearing she gave, she said her name was Linkle and she had gotten lost, namely due to the fact she spent most of her time inventing rather than learning to read maps. After helping her warm up and recover from her journey, Corvus actually showed her his interest, and actually played for her a tune that was once remembered by the royal family, the ancient Zelda's Lullaby, and even the lost original version when played in reverse, the Ballad of the Goddess. Much to his surprise, the girl was not only looking drowsy, but began crying as she fall asleep, calling for her mother. In the morning, after she awoke, Corvus was examining his cards with a smile as she came down to breakfast, where he had a warm meal waiting for her.
Linkle, after learning how Corvus enjoyed the game he played, would introduce her to the mechanics of the game. Much to his surprise, the girl actually proved to be a natural at it, but became surprised as she held a certain card in her hand, that of the Terrako of the Guardian Group of Cards. When she read the lore of the cord, she would find herself drawn to the design of the creature. However, later that day, Corvus would have his first real battle as a Bokoblin Raid would come upon his village and, while the warriors were good, they were getting picked off one by one by a Bokoblin Mage of all things. This would be when, in an act of courage, Linkle would pull out from her bag an object that would hurl a metal ball towards the mage and severely wound it.
Inspired by her courage, Corvus would play the first song he would in combat, the first one that came to mind: Zelda's Lullaby. Much to his surprise, the Bokoblins would fall asleep, at least most of them, leaving the mage without backup. With this, the battle would be won, and the two of them would be praised as heroes by the people, but Linkle would be exposed by a Rito who had been to the capital recently, revealing her true identity as Princess Zelda. Fortunately, the Princess was not only courageous, but charismatic as well, convincing the people not to tell her father about where she is, and that she was searching for somebody important to her. With this, the people would agree to help hide her, and use her disguise name as Linkle to protect her identity, at least until she found this person. However, because of her bad sense of direction, she asks Corvus to join her, and, even to his own surprise, he accepts. Now he travels alongside a Princess, and together they will find this person she is looking for, come wind, rain, or storm.
Daruma:
A Good Fight… That is all I have ever lived for, aside from one day taking over the tribe that my father, Darukian, leads. I, Daruma, am a member of the Goron Tribe, having been born amongst the Marked Ones, those whose bodies have a less stony composition, but, in exchange, have natural "tattoos" that are said, among my people, to be a sign of our ancestor's blessings as well as a guide towards are destinies if we learn to interpret them correctly. To be one of the Marked Ones is a great honor amongst my people, and, almost always, when we read our markings correctly, we actually can predict the future, and once done perfectly, our interpretations, more often than not, end up coming true!
For me, whenever I'm not out training, feasting, or even just singing and dancing, I am studying my markings, trying to predict what happens in my future. Most of the time I can't make sense of them, but one morning, when I made another attempt at studying them, and I found a marking on my left arm, shaped like the Triforce, with, if my memory had served me correctly, the Triforce of Wisdom being darker whilst the other two were empty, and below that, the markings were somewhat shaped like the Goron Tribe's symbol. I don't know what this meant, but I had a feeling something good was about to happen.
A few days later, a pair of traveling strangers made their way towards Death Mountain, seeking an audience not only with my father, but permission to Enter the Fire Temple to speak with Lady Volvagia Epona, the Dragon Mount of the Hero. The Girl introduced herself as Linkel, but, for some reason, she didn't look like a Linkel to me, though it may have just been in my head. My father, though skeptical, asked why they would wish to speak with the Dragon herself. Linkle made a rather convincing argument that, since the Hero had not shown their face, she thought that, since she looked similar, to the depictions, she might be able to be the Hero instead. My father, though not convinced, decided to put the young woman to the test, giving them Goron Garments, to allow them to withstand the Heat of the Volcano, and had me guide them there.
We all traveled through the volcanic labyrinth, eventually finding ourselves before the gates of the Fire Temple, where we were greeted by the Dragon herself in human form, in which she lead us inside, where, surprisingly, it was nice and cool within, and a great hotspring surrounded her chamber. We learned from the Great Volvagia Epona that, indeed, she was the mount of the Previous Hero, but there was a reason why they hadn't shown up yet. It was due to a wish that Volvagia had made on the Triforce when all three pieces were brought back together during the last battle with the Calamity. Volvagia, having loved the Hero, and knowing that all the knights that held his blood were gone, wished upon the Triforce for her rider to be resurrected, and if that couldn't be possible, reincarnated into a new body.
To this, the Triforce had granted her wish, and after a century of waiting, she had met her Hero once more, but not born in the form of a Hylian as she had expected, but that of a Gerudo boy. The Gerudo Queen had actually brought him to each of the Temples to pay his respects to each of them. However, her surprise turned to anger as she had thought this boy was actually Gannondorf Reborn and the Gerudo Queen had betrayed them all, only for the boy to step before her claws bravely, fully intent on taking the hit for his mother. This had given the Dragon Pause, and, to my surprise as the dragon told the story, when she hesitated, she told us the boy started singing for her the same song that the Hero had sang to her, not only to summon her, but ease her emotional pain. As he sang, two lights emanated from his body, one from his chest, over his heart, and the other from his left hand…
To this, I realized that the boy was indeed the hero, and, to my surprise, Linkle had expressed joy and excitement at seeing her brother. To this, the Dragon would reveal the woman with us was none other than Princess Zelda, the Crown Princess of Hyrule. But before I could begin questioning, a monster of fire and stone attacked us, and it was there I realized what my marking had meant as I stepped in front of the Princess… I was meant to be her shield, and I knew where my destiny was: beside her. LET'S ROCK AND ROLL!
Rita:
Zora's Domain is a beautiful place to live and grow up… Bountiful Waterfalls, connections to rivers, Lake Hylia, and even paths to the Great Sea that surround all of Hyrule. However, beneath the splendor of the Domain's beauty there is a tragic tale waiting to happen. I, Princess Rita, am a direct descendant of Princess Ruto, and a distant relative of Princess Mipha through her younger brother Sidon. I come from a very long line of romantic tragedies where a Zora Princess falls in love with the Hero of Hyrule, only to end up dead or heartbroken by the end of it all. It is truly a romantic and tragic tale, one I am determined to end.
When I was born, I was blessed by the Goddess Nayru with Mipha's healing abilities, as well as Princess Ruto's grace and beauty. Many men amongst my tribe desire me, but none of them interest me at all, for there was only one who I have met who has earned my adoration and love. This boy was named Link, and he was not what I had expected, for I had long heard that the Hero was always born Hylian, but this boy I met was a Gerudo. He had hair as red as fire, eyes that were a beautiful gold and skin of a beautiful sandy brown that made him look so handsome and exotic. It was during a time where I was still quite young and uninterested in boys when I met him, but truth be told, though I was indeed much older than him, I found something about him that attracted me.
First we had started out as friends, in which we would get into all manner of mischief together, pulling pranks on the stuffy nobles, where he would fight off any bullies who were attacking the younger members of our people, while I healed them, and even times where we would sing together in the Halls of Jabu-Jabu, an ancient hall where young Zoras would take to schooling, and even play together. Though I was too old for such things, I found myself enjoying his company. However, one day, he had to leave Zora's Domain, for he had to travel with his mother around the Kingdom to enter the Temples to find somebody who would be willing to teach him, and it seems our own Sage had refused, so they were moving onto the next temple, their last hope, the Fire Temple on Death Mountain.
Before he left, however, I did something that nobody expected from me at that point, I had given Link something of mine so that he wouldn't forget me, and would promise to return one day, a beautiful amulet of gold with three large sapphires set into it. I wouldn't know about this until a few years later, but I had unintentionally proposed marriage to Link that day, and he promised he would return, regardless of reasons, saying that when he returned, we would go somewhere and sing once again. This moment filled me with hope as I had awaited the day he would return. However, years would pass before I found somebody matching Link's description would be found one day near Zora's Domain, facing off against a group of Bokoblins near the Domain's entrance, and I would find him there, breathing fire as he wielded his sword in hand, setting the monsters ablaze to cover the retreat of our soldiers. Yet, joining him was a girl who looked like him, along with a Rito, a Goron, and a Sheikah? Who were these people, and what were they doing with my Link? He has some explaining to do… Because… He is mine…
Impa:
Being a member of the Sheikah Tribe is not as glorious as most people make it out to be. Most of the time, we're just sitting around, keeping an eye on things, watching out for any sort of problems that might arise in the Kingdom then, if ordered to, silently eliminate it, one way or another. As for me, I was one of a handful of Sheikah Tribe Members who were designated to watch over the Princess, and, honestly, it is rather boring most of the time, especially since all she does from day to day is merely tinker away at anything tech related, or is sitting around reading books of the past. Yet imagine how shocked I was when I was getting called by our clan leader, my father, to the Throne Room to inform me that the Princess had disappeared on my watch!
You can imagine how much trouble I was in, due to the fact that Princess Zelda had been asleep when I left to get some sleep in the break room. I got such a fierce reprimanding from the King and my father for that, and I was forced to tell them everything I knew. Other than the fact that the Princess hadn't been doing anything out of the ordinary, just simply reading her books or tinkering away at anything when she wasn't training, my father had brought it to my attention that the books that Zelda had been researching under my watch had been records of her family history, and, after finding out that the King's own Journal had been found in Zelda's Room, things suddenly fell into place as I realized how much trouble I was actually in; The Princess had pulled a fast one on me by using her own routine to hide her real agenda, and I had gotten lazy due to how mundane her routine actually was!
However, one thing stuck out to me as to why I was in trouble for all of this: Zelda had been looking into Family Records, and had stolen the King's personal Journal. When I questioned the significance of this, the King, rather reluctantly, had revealed he had unintentionally let it slip that Zelda had a Brother, a Twin Brother by the name of Link. This shocked me to my core as I realized why Zelda had been so interested, she wanted to know where her brother was, but that wasn't the entire story. After pressing further, the King revealed that his wife as actually the Queen of the Gerudo, and their marriage wasn't public knowledge, due to the fact the Gerudo Queen was not only of the Dragmire Clan, but also had given birth to a son. Due to the fact everyone believes that Ganon is dead rather than sealed away, they would've begun persecuting the King's Son because he was born a male Gerudo, which usually only happens whenever Gannon's reincarnation, Gannondorf, dies in battle.
Now that I realized the situation, I knew what I had to do, I had to find the Princess, and, if possible, find a way to keep the Prince's Identity a secret from the rest of the World. However, there would be one small problem, nobody knows that Princess Zelda is missing, and those who do believe she was kidnapped. However, the King knew that Zelda, while too smart to get herself caught, was not savvy when it came to maps and had a terrible sense of direction, so she would likely get lost trying to figure out how to read a map. This meant that she would likely pick a random direction and just go that way! However, this also presented an opportunity, as Zelda's main objective would be to get to the Gerudo Desert, where her brother was likely located, so she would know the general direction of the desert: West. So putting myself in her shoes, she'd definitely head westward.
Unfortunately, as I kept putting myself in her mind. I found myself in the Rito's Village, where I would learn that a girl named "Linkle" had aided in the defense of the Village, in which the people proclaimed her a heroine, but when I asked where she went, I was told they were followed by somebody named Corvus heading East, towards Death Mountain, not sure why but then, I would then rush towards the mountain as fast as I could. However, as soon as I got there, I heard the sound of fighting as I barged my way into the Fire Temple, where I saw a large number of monsters attacking not only the Princess, but also Goron and a Rito… But also a man with fiery red hair, skin as brown as sand, and with eyes of such a fierce golden yellow they looked like they were made of flames… The fire was dancing around him as he pulled his fist free of the skull of a great Dodongo that had attacked the group, roaring triumphantly…
Link:
What does it take to be a Hero? Is it a person's origins, how they start things, a bloodline that justifies their title? Their Destiny, some grand design that they are supposed to be a part of in order to ensure the continuation of the world? Or is it the choices they make, and ultimately leaving the decision up to the next generation to decide? For Link, none of these were ever an option, at least not entirely. Born as the "illegitimate" son of King Alexander Hyrule and Gerudo Sorcerer Queen Twinrova Dragmire, Link was raised with a sense of commitment and duty to his tribe. Though he was born a male in an all female society, he was, surprisingly, well loved by his people. He never knew why Hylians who visited the Gerudo Towns he had come to were always so hostile to them until he was about 7 years old.
His mother, Twinrova, a Gerudo Sorcerer with the power to split herself into two identical bodies, revealed to him that, unlike what most in Hyrule believed, Gannondorf Dragmire, the person the Hylians would believe he is the reincarnation of, wasn't actually dead, but sealed away on an island on the Eastern Coast, deep within the Lomei Labyrinth. Here Ganon has been sealed away using a powerful Artifact to keep his body alive whilst preventing him from ever escaping. While Link did understand this, it didn't hurt him any less, but the fact that the Dragmire Tribe, the only tribe of Gerudo who were directly involved with sealing away Ganon, still accepted and loved him despite how the Hylians saw him, it made him want to protect the Gerudo even more. Deciding that it would be best, Link began dressing like a proper Gerudo, instead of a man, and, much to the surprise and joy of the women, he not only looked good in his disguise, but also went the extra mile and bought some jewelry that actually looked good on him.
With this, Link actually decided to take his training a bit more seriously, but, unfortunately, as he grew, it became apparent that none of the weapons or training the Gerudo imparted upon him were sticking all that well, until, one day, he took on a bokoblin with his bare hands and beat it to death with his bare fists. This made the Gerudo realize that Link was not meant to be a warrior who preferred the use of arms, but one who specialized in beating his opponents into submission. Twinrova, seeing this, decided to take a leave of absence from the tribe to travel the country so that they could find a Sage who was willing to train her son. Over their travels, they made many stops at each of the great temples, but none of the sages were willing to train Link, much to the boy's dismay. The closest they had ever gotten to having an actual teacher among the sages was in the Water Temple within Zora's Domain, where he, much to his own shock, became very close friends with Princess Rita, and where she gave a beautiful amulet to when he was forced to leave due to the Sage rejecting him. However, when they came before the Fire Sage of Death Mountain, Volvagia Epona, things took a turn for the better.. Despite a rough introduction, Epona, upon realizing that Link was the student she had been waiting for, had begun to train him.
For years he had studied within the heat of the Fire Temple, situated within the Eldin Caves of Death Mountain, and over time, he would eventually develop his powers, eventually growing strong enough to emulate the Draconic Sage that had trained him. He would gain a dragon's lungs for breathing fire, a dragon scales for diffusing fire, and dragon's claws for attacking with fire. His dedication to his training and his master eventually allowed him to, when he enters combat, to transform his skin into actual dragon scales that take on the appearance of a crimson knight's plate armor, with his hair even transforming into a knightly Half-helm shaped like Volvagia Epona's head. Once his training was complete, he would return to Gerudo Desert for a time, only to return years later to interrupt a battle taking place upon the Fire Temple, with a King Dodongo intruding upon Epona's sacred grounds, there he would meet the one person he had thought he would never see, his twin sister… Princess Zelda…
