Introduction to the Fae
Fae are Nature spirits, they speak every language
Nature doesn't judge nor intervenes, it only ensures balance (doppelgangers)
Fae are immortal, they can only be killed by pure iron hitting a vital spot
Fae love collecting 'knowledge' (aka gossip), every fae contributes to the Archive, even if it's just giving their diaries/grimoires after their death.
Grandma Felicia didn't do this (diaries were left for her descendants). She gave copies of several Bennet diaries/grimoires she 'borrowed' from Sheila.
Gaelar = wing bag
Gaslear = skin above wing bag
Tasmàr = fae world
Lasmàr = fae territory in the human world
Ascension = human descendant becomes fae
Government
- No kings or courts
- No laws
- Instinct tells them what they can't do, so laws aren't needed
Instincts
- to claim a Lasmàr
- to ask permission before entering another's Lasmàr
- can't lie
- can't hurt children (instinct to kill child abusers/ pedophiles etc.)
- can't rape - hate rapists (instinct to kill)
- recognise potential mates (no soulmates but they're attracted to strong or artistic people)
- tendency for polygamy
Life
- they gather on solstices and equinoxes (not compulsory)
- they are immortal as long as they're not killed
- only pure iron can kill them
- each Fae has their own lasmàr (parents and children share, couples too)
- Lasmàr have a portal to Tasmàr (non-fae die there unless they have fae Blessing)
- some fae chose to live in Tasmàr, but they still have a Lasmàr
Astrology
- Spring equinox = earth
- Summer solstice = fire
- Autumn equinox = wind
- Winter solstice = water
- Blue moon (every 2.5 years) = illusions
- Blood moon (lunar eclipse) = fae are wilder, more bloodthirsty
They don't hate vampires
- vampires keep human population numbers within tolerable limits
- plus they're can still die (balance)
- plus vervain and sun allergy (white oak for originals)
If vampires were abomination of nature
- Esther's spell wouldn't have worked
- fae would have killed the Mikaelsons
Fae dislike witches
- they claim to know Nature when they're just humans
- witches thinks fae = Nature servant when fae embody Nature
- faerie dust, hair, blood, etc. can only be used if willingly given
- witches took them forcibly, often killing the fae
Fae like werewolves
- they're half animal
- they're strong (make good mates)
- they go wild on the full moon
If fae is killed
- Vampires: fae blood burns them from the inside out
- Werewolves: can't return to human form, lose human memories/sentience
- Witches: their own magic kills them and destroys their soul
- Humans: leaves a stain on soul that fae can see and they'll kill you
If a fae is just hurt
- they're expected to take their own revenge
- ask for assistance if unable (like children, pregnant or too injured)
Weaknesses
- Pure iron burns them
- too much iron weakens them if they touch it
Shifting
- from human sized to 10 cm (unusually tall, average 6 cm)
Telepathy
- short distances barely any magic
- long distances need bond + more magic
Illusions
- solid and not
- Jasmine ("Jazzie") can't do solids yet, maybe never
- anchor illusions to stones
- alexandrite makes illusions stronger against vampires
Elements (that Jasmine can do)
- coax plants to grow
- small wind
Potions (that she can brew)
- erase memories
Spells (that she can cast)
- daylight jewelry (anklet for Enzo)
- moonlight jewelry (ring for Tyler)
- take an empty notebook put a book on top and the notebook becomes a copy
