She gasped as she woke up, a tingling sensation filling her body causing her hair to stand on end. Sitting up in the bed, she turned to face her vanity table and saw the familiar glow of forest green eyes had replaced her own faded brown.

"No..." she muttered softly as tears started pooling in her eyes.

Yet, she had no time to grieve as a translucent silver phantasm with the same green eyes raced thru the walls and right into her, making her gasp at the sudden heat that entered her body. She had barely heard the soft whispered "Sorry sis, I love you, look after Harry for me, goodbye." Her green eyes shown brighter starting to glow a pale blue, before fading to forest green. The woman fell back into her bed asleep.

"Petunia..." she was gently shaken, rousing her from her uneasy sleep. "Petunia, honey wake up."

Opening her eyes, light flooded her vision, causing her to scrunch up her face and squint at the bright light.

"Good morning Pet, are you okay? You seemed to be having a bit of a nightmare there." A man asked.

Opening her eyes, again she realised that everything seemed sharper more detailed, then she, what she thought was a dream flashed in her mind, her eyes widening in horror as she processed the information. Tears started to form as her breathing picked up, then all at once the tears flowed down her face as she cried. All the while her husband was hugging her, trying to console her, she couldn't help but stare at the reflection of her now forest green eyes.

"What's wro-" he gasped when he saw the colour of her eyes. "Honey... your eye's... their green..."

Petunia nodded numbly. "Lily... she's dead Verny..."

"Wha-? How do you know sweet pea?" He asked perplexed.

"My eyes... she... bound us together when I visited her..." she cried. "She... said it was the only way to protect us... that if she had time... she would have done something else... she gave me magic..."

Vernon engulfed his wife into an embrace, knowing that this was difficult for her. Despite the fact that Petunia had always wanted magic, she didn't want it how she got it... not at the price of her little sister. Deciding, to get the gift he had bought his wife out of the car, he quickly made his way down stairs and out the door, nearly tripping over a basket. Vernon turned around and his eyes nearly bulged out of his head when he saw a baby in the basket barely covered by blankets and a letter placed on him.o

3 Years later

Gaining the ability to use magic has forced Petunia's body to adapt to its presence slowly overtime. Many of these changes were cosmetic, as the magic reacted to her wants, one of which was to be considered beautiful. Her thin and wiry hair, started filling out, gaining volume and shine, where as her face filled out more, making her appearance seem softer. The most notable change - as mentioned by her neighbours time and time again - had been her dull green, nearly brown eye-colour changing to a vibrant forest green colour.

Her life had also somewhat changed in the past four years. The addition of little Harry had been difficult at first, since she was already busy with her own son. Despite the challenges, she did her best to be a good parent to the boy. Making sure that he was loved and treated like her own son. Harry was actually better behaved than most kids his age, but, the poor child suffered from night terrors. Despite this, the boys grew up healthy.

Additionally, Petunia had started to practice magic, which was both terrifying and exhilarating at the same time. The book she was studying from, a Grimoire, if she remembered correctly, contained Family magic that were passed down from generation to generation. She had discovered the book on her dresser the morning after her sister died, with no note or anything. The Grimoir was apparently started by a man named EmoW, that was passed down to his eldest child. Lilly had according to notes in the Grimior, taken an inheritance test and found out that they were related to the Trahern family, who could trace their roots as far back as the Wylt family.

The Grimoire was peculiar, seeming to have magic imbedded in it from all of its past users. So despite having 30 generations adding their magical knowledge and journouling in the book, its size never increased and it always had space for new entries. From what she could tell, the magic had overtime, given the Grimoire a rudimentary intelligence. This intelligence allowed it to perform simple tasks and guide the user as if it had a built in index. Petunia equated it to one of the newer computers if a bit more advanced.

Thanks to the grimoire and a few of Lilly's books, Petunia had quickly worked her way thru Alchemy, Arithmacy, Herbology, Rituals, Potions and Runes. Unfortunately, due to the self study nature of her learning, she was unable to study any of the magic's that required a wand. Despite this, Petunia was a genius when it came to Arithmacy and Runes.

As time went on, and Petunia became more knowledgeable, she started her own projects. She started small with simple runic arrays that alerted her whether or not Harry and Dudley were crying as she cleaned the house. She made notes on all of her studies in the Grimoire in her own dedicated section. The Grimoire acting as a diary, reference and note book all in one.

Petunia was busy teaching her two 4 year olds how to garden in what seemed to be a large tropical forest. A small smile on her face as she watched the two boys dig holes for some new plants they had. Dudley was covered in dirt with a few smears of it on his forehead while Harry had twigs and leaves sticking out of his hair.

"Okay boys, that's deep enough. Let me place these in the ground then you can fill in the holes around them gently." She said as she picked up the plants.

The boys whined, at having to stop their digging, but complied. They quickly filled wholes back up making sure to not compress the dirt around the roots just like she had taught them. Petunia picked up the tools and placed them into sling bag that she had modified with some runes allowing it to be larger on the inside. The three of them proceeded to walk out of the forest over a bridge that had a small river flowing underneath of it towards what seemed to be a random glass wall with a door in a forest.

As the trio stepped thru the door, they stepped into a small greenhouse with vegetable garden. Putting away her gardening tools, she told the boys to head into the house and wash up. Looking at the time, she decided that she would prepare lunch for them. She quickly picked some fresh vegetables, and exited the greenhouse.

Sighing contently as she washed them and started cooking, reminising about her journey so far. The greenhouse had been one of her biggest projects to date, not just in terms of cost, but in time as well. It had taken her 3 years of research and careful planning, using countless references and books to create and finalise the plans. Building the rectangular greenhouse had been easy, if a bit expensive, especially considering the specifications she had. She wanted a 4m3m greenhouse with the last meter of it being converted into three 1x1 "cultivation rooms".

In reality, Petunia had carefully warded the supposed "cultivation rooms" using a combination of Zirconium and Platinum runes, because of the connections to space and properties to withstand erosion. It was expensive, but worth while, as once these runes were activated each 11 room was enlarged 40 times their original size. Essentially Petunia added 3 entire lots to her house, each hosting a different biome for her plants.

Obviously, the three rooms were also warded to not allow anybody except her family to enter it, let alone see it if they happen to be in the green house. Similar to what she did in the greenhouse, she turned the cupboard under the stairs into a room, where she would practice magic and brew potions.

After lunch, she called the boys over to start their magic studies. Something both boys enjoyed learning about, despite most of these studies being about plants, potions and history. It had been an honest shock to Petunia the day she discovered Dudley had magic, yet she couldn't have been more thrilled at the same time. She supposed she should have known, as Dudley did have the same green eyes she and Harry had.

Almost chuckling as she thought back to the her trying to supply seeds and plants for the greenhouse. How she had wanted to strangle her sister - may her soul rest in peace - for her horrible sense of direction. Although, the struggles had come with a new ally, as unexpected as it was.

With a sigh, Petunia picked up the map again, cross refrencing it with what Lilly had written in the grimiore. While her little sister was prodigy, her sense of direction and ability to direct somebody left a lot to be desired. The only thing she knew from the notes, was that the place was in London and called the Leaky Cauldron. From her own past experience visiting the place, she knew it was somewhere close to central London.

With a groan she threw the map in the air, only to have it fall on her head. This earned a chuckle and a raised eyebrow from Vernon.

"Lilly's directions would make mazes in the underworld look simple honey." She mumbled. "What makes this more frustrating is that I won't be able to complete my greenhouses unless I'm able to procure the last seeds from the magical shopping area."

"Darling, didn't you use the seeds that was in the trunk Lilly had sent with you?" Vernon asked curiously.

Nodding, she replied. "Yes, but that still leaves quite a few plants that I don't have. Not to mention, I also need to ensure that Harry's bank accounts have been taken care of. I admit, this might be a bit much for a single trip, but I have to at least start somewhere."

Frowning a bit, as she thaught of a possible solution to her problems, but she was unsure if it would work. Petunia grabbed the phonebook from the side table and quickly scanned the area for the surname she was look for. Finding it, she quickly wrote down the number and headed to the kitchen. Bracing herself, she called the number, waiting a bit, before it was answered.

"Severus Snape, speaking." The slightly refined yet dour voice answered.

"Sev, its Petunia... I... we need to talk... It's important." She said shakily, not really knowing what to say.

"Petunia Evans? Why in gods name would you call me?"

"Its Dursley now, but that's of little importance. Its about Lilly, you might want to come over to see for yourself what Lilly has done..." She replied. Petunia knew she was being vague and making it sound like there was something wrong, but it was the only way she could think of.

There was a huff on the other side, however, when Severus spoke again, his tone held msome curiousity. "I suppose this could be of interest to me. I'll need your address, and I'll be over in 30minutes."

"Number 4 Private Drive, Little Whining. Thank you Sev." She said, but he merely grunted and ended the call.

17 April 1987, Petunia Dursley

While reading James entries into the Grimoire, I made a startling discovery. I'm not sure if I should be furious or happy...

James... He did the ritual, just like Lilly... The Mors Magus Defero, the ritual that would - upon his death - transfer his magical core to somebody else. I thought it could only be done between blood family, but he found a way...

He gave his magic to Dudley as an act of protection. It shouldn't have worked, but... Dudley's eyes are that of the Evans' who had magic. That according to the Grimoire is a trait that we inherited from the Wylt family. I think its due to both intent of the caster and what magic itself feels is needed. The modified ritual in the Grimoire explains it slightly, but I don't think James understood the ramifications of what he had done.

A magical core grows with the person as they age and practice magic. My own core is smaller than Lilly's because some of it was consumed in order to adapt my spirit or soul to use house a magical core.

My ancestor, Cynthia Trahern, explains that in her case, her grandmother transferred her magic to her child to ensure that it grew up healthy just before her Death. She had expected to feel her grandmothers magical signature from her child, but she never did, the core amplified the soul and that is what created a magical signature. HOWEVER, she noted that her child grew up more magically powerful than her grandmother ever was. Suggesting that the core continues to grows with the spirit, despite coming from a mature witch or wizard.

In the case of Dudley, he was barely 1 year old, and because of that, the core shouldn't have changed in size, because he barely grew into his soul. Dudley should grow into a rather powerful wizard. Interestingly enough... Harry's core seems to be larger than Dudley's... I wonder why that is? Both of their cores are nearly the size of my own core... on top of this their only four years old...

Did Harry inherit somebodies magic? If so, who's magic?
