'I can't reach Oromë.' Thuringwethil reported to her Valie. She knew the larger Ainu's eyes were narrowing, but the blindfold kept anyone else from actually seeing it.
'Nor I Namó, Vairë or Þossaica.' The massive form drew up. "Oh... come on."
"Oh..." If her current fana had had vocal cords, she'd have cursed up a storm. The darkness in the forest on the northern ridge was alive, and the south was equally dark and only not as alive.
She couldn't hear whatever it was that her Valie send to the other present Maiar, but the order for herself came sharp and hard. 'Summon Melian.'
She'd turned from her Valie once, mostly because of her absence, but she wasn't going to do that now. It was, mostly, a guess where her travel along bonds went, with the darkness dampening them to near non-existence.
Oromë's daughter nearly faceplanted in Olórin's chest. "Oop!" Wrong one.
"Thuri?" One of the two Maiar of Mellissë that had descended without their Valie stabilized her.
"No time, Melian now." She towed him along along the correct bond, appearing in something that looked distinctly living-roomy, with most of the Doriathrim ruling family present. Whoops.
The other female Maia yelped softly, rising from her seat in an armchair. "Thuri?"
"To our Valie." The darkness was not enough to block their connection, thankfully, so Thingol's wife should be able to get places. "Now."
"Mom...?" Luthien asked.
"No time." She was not entirely sure why their Valie needed the Maia of Familial Love, but it was definitely urgent.
"Later, darling." Melian pulled herself along the bond that connected Valar with their Maiar, leaving her two compatriots in the room with her family.
'So why me here?' Olórin demanded mentally.
'The list of reasons as to why Mellissë would want Melian specifically is very short.' The Maia of Love of Self shot back, waving off the half-maia that had once driven her to flight and from there, to her own unhousing.
'And Melian's married to an incarnate.' The Maia of Love of Friends had managed the same thought-process as she. He cursed out loud, shoving his staff at Dior. "Hold this."
"I guess we're hoping Thingol's solid."
"Pardon?" The Sindarin King demanded.
"There's a very high chance that Melian has been summoned to have to more or less fully disconnect from her fana." Olórin explained obligingly, gently pushing the elf back into his seat. "And we have no idea what that will do along the marriage-bond with you, since you are an incarnate."
"It will definitely hurt like hell, perhaps feel as if she's dying the entire time. It's never happened before, so there's just no knowledge about it." Thuringwethil took his other side. "We will try to shield you best as we can with what skill we have at love-bonds, but neither of us is well-versed in that part of the Song."
"Hence, hoping you will be able to endure whatever it will be without dying."
'Or going crazy.' She added mentally, but not out loud as the elf between them took a deep breath and seemingly braced.
"Can I help?" Luthien, Melian's part of the Song made manifest, softly asked. "Somehow?"
"If you wish to try, it won't make things worse." The old 'Secondborn' mused. "Do you know how to join Song?"
"I did it a few times, yes."
"Join in, once we start." He glanced over his shoulder. "You'll be the anchor of your father then, to keep him from slipping away, while we'll do our best to make sure you don't even need to anchor."
