Bonding
At the top of the Storm Spire, Pyrrah sighed as she was resting underneath the rays of the setting sun. The Dragon Queen, Zubeia, had asked her to bring a Human to Katolis in order to inform them about what transpired here, about the defeat of Viren and his army of darkness. What she didn't expect was that the one she had to fly all the way there, was… him.
That very person was now approaching her as she heard his footsteps.
Soren: Okay, Dragon, let's… clear the air.
Pyrrah didn't open her eyes as Soren continued talking.
Soren: We both did stuff we regret. I shot "a" ballista at you. You burnt a town! I broke your horn. You broke… all my bones.
Soren shivered as he remembered that part.
Soren: But… But!
Pyrrah finally opened her eyes as she turned to Soren in annoyance.
Soren: I'm willing to call it even. What do you say? Friends?
Soren stretched a hand for a handshake. Pyrrah sat up as she looked at Soren's outstretched hand before looking back at him… until she went to bite his hand off. Soren pulled away before she could bite it.
Pyrrah: Grrrr…
Soren stepped back with his hands raised as Pyrrah growled at him.
Soren: Okay! Not friends! I get it, we're not there… yet.
Pyrrah snorted at Soren's attempts to be friends with her.
Soren: Alright, should we start going?
Pyrrah huffed as if she had a choice. She let Soren climb on her back before taking off for Katolis.
Soren: This is amazing!
Soren was having the time of his life being in the sky.
As they were flying, Pyrrah recounts the time before all of this. She was eager to fight against Humans; she didn't hesitate to burn down a village after the same Human she's carrying shot her with a ballista. She didn't expect to be taken down by one filled with Dark Magic.
Even more unexpected is when she was rescued by the young Prince of Katolis, Ezran, who's Father murdered the Dragon King with Dark Magic and destroyed his egg, the Dragon Prince, until she saw he was also alive and born thanks to Ezran.
She also recalls that her meeting Ezran and Prince Azymondias spared Soren from her wrath. That Human dared to attack her and cut off her horn, and she retaliated by swatting him with her tail into a rock, and she believed to have heard his bones breaking. She planned to eat Soren since Dragons can practically eat anything, until the two Princes caught her attention. He was very lucky.
After that, Xadia and Humans banded together to fight against Viren and his army, and everyone started to get along with one another, even the Dragons!
Soren: Hey, Pyrrah, was it? It's already night and I know both you and I should catch some Z's.
The Moon was already up to show it was the middle of the night, and Pyrrah didn't get any sleep last night as she was with Ezran recruiting Dragons to join the fight.
She landed on the ground and it didn't take long for Soren to build a campfire.
Soren: Alright, now to make fire…
Pyrrah just breathed out a small fireball that lit the woods.
Soren: Whoa! Thanks!
Soren then began doing a few stretches before going to sleep as Pyrrah watched. She wondered how he recovered so quickly after she broke all of his bones as he said, but not decided not to ponder about it any longer.
Soren: Alright, Pyrrah, I'm going to sleep. Goodnight!
Pyrrah didn't respond as she went to sleep along with Soren.
Pyrrah suddenly woke up at the sound of struggling in the night. The fire went off and she saw the noise was made by Soren as he fidgeted in his sleep.
Letting out an annoyed grunt, Pyrrah got up as she walked towards Soren and looked down at him.
She towered over the Human as she recalled how she had him at her mercy. She then heard Soren talk in his sleep.
Soren: No… Dad… Clauds…
Whatever Soren was dreaming, it was clearly a nightmare as tears were coming out of his closed eyes.
Pyrrah's stern expression softened as she heard Soren talking in his sleep.
From what she learned his Father was the Dark Mage who led the Army of Darkness. She also heard he stabbed his Father who was about to kill King Ezran, only to reveal it to be an illusion. But illusion or not, stabbing his own Father must have been too much for Soren, and now his sister left him.
Pyrrah looked down at Soren as he continued to struggle in his sleep. She lowered her head and allowed her warm breath to wash over his face. This caused him to calm down.
She lowered her snout closer and gently began licking the tears away from his face.
Pyrrah stood back up before looking away as she made a decision.
Soren opened his eyes. He had a bad dream about his Viren and Claudia leaving him, but then it stopped after something warm washed over him before feeling something gentle.
Soren then noticed something heavy holding him and saw that it was Pyrrah holding him with one arm, holding his back close to her chest as she surrounded him with her tail and head.
Soren nearly laughed as when he was young he slept with a Dragon plushie, now it's reversed as he was now the plushie.
He then noticed that Pyrrah opened her eyes and was staring at him.
He then reached a hand to her, but she growled at him again.
Pyrrah: Grrrr…
Soren held back his hand until Pyrrah calmed down. He then reached out again and Pyrrah let him caress her muzzle, earning him a smile.
Soren: Thanks… Pyrrah.
Pyrrah's eyes softened as she curled and hugged Soren tighter to her. She then covered him with one wing as Soren and Pyrrah started to fall in a warm and comfortable sleep.
And that's for my own short storie. I do really hope that we get to see a bond between Soren and Pyrrah since she'll be returning in the next season. I know a part of the story is something that already read elsewhere, but it totally suits this scene.
