Chapter 2
The start of a journey
I don't own Pokemon or Warriors
Professor Oak didn't know what to think anymore as he took stock of the situation. There he was, sitting in his lab room on his orange couch looking at eight cats, rare creatures in the Pokemon world. Not only that, but they had quite the story they told.
"So, let me see if I understand your story. You are saying that four of you, namely Ashpaw, Mistpaw, Badgerpaw, and Daplenose are really Ash, Misty, Brock, and Delia that went missing a month ago, and have been living as cats on another world?" he asked.
"Yes, that is what Mew told us. We don't have that many memories yet of our lives as humans yet." said Daplenose, who then licked her front right paw.
"And now said Mew, one of the most mythical Pokemon in existence, what Ash...paw, Mistpaw, and Badgerpaw to go on a Pokemon journey?" asked the old professor.
"Yep! I'm ready to go!" mewed Ashpaw excitedly. Professor Oak rubbed his temples.
"And the rest of you...Thunderclan apprentices want to go with him?" the professor asked as he turned to the other kittens.
"We are Thunderclan. We stick together!" said Firepaw proudly as he sat on the linolium floor. The other cats mewed in agreement, except the one named Dustpaw, who just glared.
"My better judgement says no. I can't even be sure your are telling the truth. But talking cats is just so unbelievable I am inclined to believe it all." he said sighing "Well, Ashpaw, I did send the rest of the Pallet town trainers out today. I guess I'll send you out too. Wait right here." he then got off his couch and left the room. Minutes later, he came back holding a Pokeball and a red Pokedex. Walking over the the small dark grey cat named Ashpaw, he placed it on the ground in front of him. "This is called a Pokedex Ashpaw. I has to hunt for a small model, since you are, well, a cat." He then went on to describe how to turn in on and it's function, hoping the young cat understood, since from what it sounded like, these clans they described did not have any human technology.
"Now Ashpaw, this is a Pokeball." said the professor as he placed the red and white ball on the ground.
"I remember these. Don't they hold Pokemon?" asked Ashpaw. "Is this my...starter?"
Oak smiled. "Yes Ashpaw. Just press the button on the front and the Pokemon will come out. Be warned, this one is a little feisty." Ashpaw the reached forward with his left paw and touched the button on the front. The ball opened, in a flash of white light that caused Greypaw to yowl, a yellow creature appeared.
"It's name is Pikachu" remarked Oak.
"Stupid old man. Going to send me off with a human brat on their journey now?" asked the Pikachu, clearly irritated as he looked up at Oak.
"It kinda looks like a big mouse." remarked Ashpaw. "But why is he mad?"
"Because humans are stupid and that means you are too you..."said trailed of Pikachu as he turned to look at the grey kitten. "Wait, your not a human. What are you?"
"I'm a cat, a proud apprentice of Thunderclan." said Ashpaw. "And I am your trainer!"
"Did, you just understand me?" asked the Pikachu surprised.
"Did you just understand him?" asked Oak, not realising the Pikachu has asked the same thing.
"Well, yes. Mew did say we would get that ability. I guess humans don't understand Pokemon?" asked Ashpaw.
"No Ashpaw, not usually. This is most unusual." said Oak, scratching his chin.
"Hold on!" said the Pikachu, holding up a paw. "You are not human, you are a Pokemon called a cat?"
"Nope, I'm not a Pokemon, I'm a cat. We are animals." said Dapplenose as she padded over to her son.
"And how in Arceus are you going to be a Pokemon trainer?" asked the Pikachu.
"Well, it's a long story."
Ashpaw, Mistpaw, Badgerpaw, Dustpaw, Greypaw, Firepaw, Sandpaw, and Cinderkit had left a waving Profesor Oak and Ashpaw's mom in Pallet Town. The Professor said he would try to see if he could get Dapplenose to remember more about being Delia, and work with the League to make sure the accepted Ashpaw as a trainer. Soon they the town of Pallet was behind them, and they had entered the forest on something called Route one. Pikachu was with them, still unsure how his trainer was a cat with a small red Pokedex attached to him with a strap (that had a thing called a buckle on it so the cats, who did not have human hands, could remove it easier) but thinking it better than having a human as a trainer. Ashpaw, on the other hand, was absolutely excited, while Dustpaw sulked in the rear of the group along with the youngest, Cinderkit, who had shorter legs. Mistpaw and Badgerpaw where anxious to return to their human families to see what was going on, especially Badgerpaw, as he had just remembered at the lab that he was taking care of many young brothers and sisters (Professor Oak had used something called a telephone to call Badgerpaw's house to try to check, but no one answered.) Eventually, they made it to clearing and stopped at a tree.
"Now what do we do?" asked Cinderkit as she layed down on the dirt.
"I guess I'm supposed to train Pikachu." said Ashpaw as he looked at the yellow rodent. "Um, how am I supposed to do that?"
"You don't know? You are the trainer here!" said Pikachu, crossing his arms (something the cats had not seen before)
"Mouse-dung! I apparently have been on another world for the past fifteen moons! I don't remember" said the young cat. "I wonder how Runningwind would do this."
"Why don't you look at your Pokedex?" asked Mistpaw.
"Hey, that's a great idea. Thanks Mistpaw." said Ashpaw. Mistpaw then came over and sat on her haunches. Lifting up her front paws, she pushed the two sides of the buckle like Oak had showed them, and the Pokedex fell to the ground.
"While you do this, can I go play?" asked Cinderheart.
"Yes, but don't go far." said Badgerpaw.
"I won't!" purred Cinderkit as she bounded away.
"Oh, how does this work?" asked Ashpaw as he started pushing buttons with his paw.
"You mouse-brain, didn't you listen?" asked Sandpaw.
"Oh, hush up smart-ears." Ashpaw mumbles. "Wait, I remember! Pikachu, stand infront of the Pokedex." The yellow rodent walked infron the dex. Ashpaw then pushed a button, and the Pokedex suddenly spoke:
"Pikachu, the Mouse Pokémon. It can generate electric attacks from the electric pouches located in both of its cheeks."
The cats had not been expecting this, and they had immediately gone into a defensive mode, backs arched and hisses coming out of their muzzles. For some reason, this caused Pikachu to fall over, laughing. "HA HA!"
"Stupid Twoleg stuff." grumbled Dustpaw as they all tried to calm down.
"Help!" came a sudden yelp. The seven cats and Pikachu all looked to where Cinderkit had been. She was on the ground being attacked by the biggest bird any of the cats had ever seen with red wings. Acting on instinct and training, the cats immediately went into fight mode as the raced over to Cinderkit. It would be risky, as birds where hard to attack and fight, but they had surprise on their side. Besides, they had to save Cinderkit! Ashpaw and Firepaw where the first to arrive, just as Cinderkit had been grasped in the birds claws and about to take off. Claws unsheathed, Ashpaw jumped onto the birds back and slashed it's body, drawing blood. Firepaw instead went for the talon that had Cinderkit and bit hard. These two attacks seemingly surprised the bird, and it reflexively let go of Cinderkit as it fell on it's side, eyes closed and squawking. Badgerpaw rushed over and picked up the blue-dyes she kitten in his jaws and raced her away to safety.
"What's going on!?" screamed the bird in pain. It tried to get up, but Firepaw and Ashpaw held it down.
"Don't you EVER try to take one of Thunderclans kits ever again!" hissed Firepaw as he shoved his face into the birds.
"I can't believe you made me bleed! What kind of psycho Pokemon are you?" asked the bird.
"We are not Pokemon, we are cats. Apprentices of Thunderclan, and we fight to protect are clan mates." said Ashpaw, bearing his teeth. The two cats then got off the bird, and it got up quickly.
"You monstrous...cats! Wait till my flock hears about this! You will be sorry!" it yelled. Then it flew into the air and away. Panting, the cats returned to where Pikachu was, Cinderkit still in Badgerpaw's jaw. He gently placed her on the ground, then looked her over.
"She has a slight cut on her left flank." he said, looking at the others.
"What are we supposed to use again? Goldenseal?" asked Greypaw, remembering what Spottedleaf told him once.
"Yeah, but I don't know where any are, or if they exist in this world." said Firepaw. "Pikachu, do you know?"
"Sorry, no." he said as a loud noise appeared sounded above them. Looking up, rain clouds stated to produce rain, and then a downpour. The cats and Pokemon rushed to find shelter.
After what seemed like a moon, the rain stopped, and the cats and Pokemon climbed out a small burrow they had found.
"Ashpaw, before we go, I want to say something." said Pikachu.
"Sure, go ahead." replied Ashpaw
"Ashpaw, I was thinking of not going with you. Sure, you are not a human, but still, I did not want to be a trainer's Pokemon. Then I saw the loyalty you and you clanmates had when you saved Cinderkit. Because of that, I feel like you will be a good friend, and I am willing to come with you." said Pikachu.
"Thanks, Pikachu. That means a lot coming from you." said Ashpaw as he then rubbed up againts the yellow rodent. Suddenly, he looked up and gasped. "Everyone look at that!" All there looked up to see a rainbow, and a magnificent bird, bigger than the one they had seen earlier, fly over head.
"What kink of Pokemon is that?" asked Sandpaw. Ash's Pokedex then spoke again:
"There is no data. There are still Pokémon yet to be identified."
"I think it is a legendary! Maybe it is a sign." said Pikachu in awe. Looking back at Ashpaw, he said "Come on, let's go to Viridian City."
Chapter 2 is done!
