I've been doing a little sister re-read so I might be pumping out a few more client/Karen and her friends fics. I've also got a Hunger Games fanfic started! This is a story I had started and just wanted to finish. Rachel's inner monologue and talk with the police in Abby and the Mystery Baby - I read this one and wondered what exactly did Mrs. Stevenson says to Sargent Johnson? Shorter than my normal stories but a parent point of view so hopefully this is interesting to someone!
Please review?
Miriam, Miriam, Miriam, she thought with a sigh, ready to pull her hair out. What on earth was her sister thinking? Leaving a baby for her or one of the girls to find. She turned to Sergeant Johnson with a tight smile.
"You see this is my sister's baby. She must have dropped him off not too long ago and left him us to find," said Rachel Stevenson with an aggravated sigh. What was wrong? Was Miriam hurt? Did she need her and she was too stupid not to pick up the phone?
"And you know this for sure?" asked Sergeant James Johnson, taking notes on a yellow legal pad.
"Yes I'm positive. This is the same blanket that was hers when she was a baby and there's a note in the car seat that Abby didn't see," said Rachel handing him the letter. "I can't believe her, the least she could do was wait for someone to come home."
"This does check out," said James, reading it over carefully jotting down notes from it. The letter explained a lot but not everything to give a hint of where she went. "Do you know where she could have gone?"
Rachel sighed again and shook her head. "Nope, this is just like her to just not tell me anything." Worry and anxiety gave her a headache. She pressed a hand to her head as if to ease it. "I could call around to her friends and such. Is there any possible way that you could help me find her? She's diabetic so she could be in trouble."
"Of course," said James, pausing at his notes organizing his thoughts. "I believe this is everything I need. I'll get my men on a missing persons case right away. She couldn't have gone very far if your nephew was still warm and not crying when Abby found him."
"That's still anywhere in Manhattan, New Jersey, and Connecticut. I know I've had my problems with her but I just want to make sure she's ok and safe."
Rachel felt a lump in her throat grow as she thought back to the last thing she told Miriam. They had gotten into a fight. She didn't want her sister to feel like she hated her. The hand on her head just moved to cup her cheek and briefly closed her eyes. Miriam just had to be ok.
"Understandable Rachel," he said, jotting down more notes. "I'm assuming you don't want me to tell Abby or her friends about this?"
She shook her head no before shaking his hand and showing him the front door. Rachel Stevenson blew some hair out of her face and slid down to the floor willing herself not to cry. She could only hope Abby and Anna didn't see her like this.
