Author's Note: Hello everyone, I hope you are having a good day. I am sorry updates have been slow. Real life and a nasty bout of COVID have derailed things for me quite a bit. Regardless, I am here with another chapter for all of you, and I hope you enjoy it. We are now getting into an alternate version of season 1 of the Supergirl TV show and I hope you all like it. We will now get into good battles, hopefully, good dialogue, and a good story. Without further ado, let us begin.
Chapter Eleven- To be of service to others is a joy
The familiar ring of an alarm clock and the bright light of the sun signified another boring, mundane day for one Kara Danvers. She sighed as she got up out of bed, turned off the alarm, and prepared herself for another day as a person who picked up and answered phone calls at Cat Co Media.
This was not the life that Kara envisioned for herself. She had a different objective and a different purpose in life. When her planet blew up, she was tasked to protect her infant cousin. Instead, the planet exploding blasted her ship into the Phantom Zone where she stayed for twenty-four years. After twenty-four years had passed, she had arrived on Earth to find her world tilted on its axis.
Her place in the Phantom Zone meant time had stopped for her. When she arrived on Earth, she was still twelve years old and her cousin had grown up and had a family of his own. He was unable to take care of her and give her the attention she needed. Her cousin Kal-El, known as Clark Kent on Earth, had her sent to live with the Danvers, a family of scientists who came to help him discover and learn further about his abilities.
Clark had felt horrible about this… but he felt that Kara needed to be with a family that could give her the attention and love she needed to grow and thrive. With the loss of her family and friends, he felt she needed this. Kara was quite resentful of this. In her mind and heart, she felt Clark had abandoned her like she was nothing. It had taken time for her to adjust to her new reality. She was intelligent, smart, and gifted. She hated that she was forced to feel and be "dumb". It also was not easy getting along with her new sister and she could feel and taste the resentment. It had taken much time for her to adjust to her surroundings but she grew close to her new family.
However, the resentment for her new life did not end. She had to hide who she was. She had to hide her Kryptonian identity. She had to hide the use of her powers and live out a normal, boring life. Exposure to a Yellow Star gave Kryptonians unfathomable abilities and she had to keep that part of herself hidden away. It made her resentful but she could do nothing about it.
Life was not easy for one Kara Zor-El, now known as Kara Danvers. Despite losing her foster father, life had to go on. She had graduated from university and found herself working for Cat Grant, the owner of Cat Co. Media. It was a job that she did not quite adore. While Cat Grant could be considered the Queen of mean, arrogant, and egotistical, Kara felt there was more to the woman.
However, she needed out of this job. While she liked making money, she felt she was turning her back on her potential. Her cousin was out there being a hero while she was stuck getting coffee, answering phone calls, and sending e-mails. She was wasting her knowledge and the education she acquired on Krypton. She wanted to do more.
Apart from Superman, she had another source of inspiration, "Aquaman". There were rumors and whispers about a hero emerging from another part of the United States who had been involved in a fierce battle in a Japanese village. The "Aquaman" had gained quite the following as there were some who claimed to know him and said he was part of the lost city known as Atlantis. However, there was no clear information about that battle and the people in the village refused to answer any questions regarding their mysterious savior. And there were no other details regarding his identity. It was as if he was some kind of legend, a myth. Many even doubted that such a man existed.
However, Kara knew better. She knew this "Aquaman" was keeping himself hidden as he tried to help people. She wanted the same. She wanted to help people, to be a hero. She wanted to be an inspiration, a beacon of hope, a symbol that was incorruptible like Superman. However, she was always hesitant. Her new family was always looking out for her, especially her sister.
Her sister warned her that it would be dangerous to reveal her true self. That there would be real consequences if people knew who she was. She wondered why she was so hesitant. She should be fearless, bold, and brave. Yet, with her sister's warning ringing in her ears, she chose to stay silent and stay put. However, all that changed the day she bumped into someone while she was getting lunch. Little did she know that this one meeting would come to change her life, forever.

Kara was lost in her thoughts as she walked down the street, holding her coffee in one hand and a sandwich in the other. In the brief moment that she had her down, she had accidentally bumped into someone and fell to the ground. Now, in normal circumstances, that should not be possible. Yet, she had bumped into one Uzumaki Naruto, who was not normal by any means.
Kara had looked up in annoyance and was about to give the man who bumped into her a piece of her mind. Yet, she was still as she looked at Naruto's face. It was as if the sun was shining upon him as she took in his handsome appearance.
She was staring into his piercing blue eyes which seemed to stare straight into his soul. She noticed the spiky blond hair on his head and the muscular physique that was hidden by the clothes he was wearing. She wanted to reach out and touch those muscles. She was tempted to throw caution to the wind and use her abilities to figure out how he looked underneath all those clothes. He had brought out his hand to help her to her feet and when she grasped it, she could feel the warmth and kindness emanating from him.
"I am sorry. I need to watch where I am walking. This is the second time this has happened." Kara shook her head. Even his voice felt pleasant. She could stand there and just listen to him talk. She fought the blush that was threatening to appear on her face. She cleared her throat and then spoke clearly.
"Uh, it's fine. I have to get back to work. Please watch where you are walking next time." She needed to get back to work. Cat Grant was unpredictable for a boss. The last thing she needed was to look like a fool in front of everyone else.
She stopped when Naruto spoke again. "I understand that you are in a hurry, but I would like to make it up to you. You look like you need some help. You look like you are lost in another world. Let me buy you lunch and maybe you can unburden yourself a little. You can have whatever you want, my treat."
Kara shook her head. "Look, don't take this the wrong way, but I don't know you. You are a stranger. And I have to go back to work. I am sorry but that's the truth."
Naruto smiled. "That is true. I am a stranger. I am not your family or your friend. Yet, I made a mistake and I would rather make up for it. And you look like you are in pain."
Kara was confused. "What do you mean by that?"
"I do not mean to pry, but it looks to me like you are suffering and agonizing over your life. Maybe you are conflicted by past decisions or maybe you are conflicted by not taking certain decisions. Regardless, it seems like you are grappling with a lot and I thought I could help you. I am a pretty good listener. And I am a guy who if he can help people, he will help them no matter what."
Kara scoffed. "You would help a random stranger with their problems… just like that?"
Naruto smiled. "There is nothing wrong in helping people. And I expect nothing in return. It feels good to help people. It feels good that you have the power to brighten someone's day… make an ordinary day for someone a little more special. However, you are right. I have overstepped and that was never my intention. The last thing I would ever want is to bother a beautiful woman who has a lot on her mind. My sincerest apologies. I will leave you to your business."
As Naruto walked away, Kara sighed. The blonde man's words struck a chord in her. Since when did she become someone who could not accept help? Her cousin would never turn anyone away and was open to accepting aid from others. Since when did she let her problems cloud her thinking? All that blonde guy wanted to do was offer help. She would be a fool to let something such as ego and pride get in the way of accepting genuine help. Besides, the man was offering her free food and she would be a genuine fool if she rejected a free meal.
Kara rushed forward as fast as she could and appeared in front of Naruto who narrowed his eyes and looked around. "You… you run real fast for a woman. You must work out a lot, huh?"
Kara smiled. "Yeah… lots of vitamins, cardio, lifting weights; all that good stuff."
Naruto nodded. "It seems to be working for you. You look amazing… real amazing… sorry, that came out wrong." Naruto realized in his mind that this blonde beauty was not a normal person either. She could move fast. Not to mention the fact that this woman was fit. Even though she wore baggy clothes, Naruto noticed this woman was fit all over; a trim upper body combined with a slightly thick, slightly muscular lower body. He also noticed the woman was wearing thick glasses and slouching on purpose. He realized she was hiding something. He was shaken out of his musings when he heard her speak.
"Oh… that's okay. Anyway, I was kind of rude to you and I apologize. You were just trying to be polite and kind to me. I could use a bite to eat. And if you are okay with it… maybe we can talk." Kara did not know why, but maybe talking to this man might help her unburden herself. She could not go to Alex with this and Clark was busy. She did not sense any ill intent from this stranger.
Naruto smiled. "Well, I have to thank you for letting me correct my mistake. Like I said, you can have whatever you want to eat. It's my treat after all. Do not hesitate."
There was a smile on Kara's face that made Naruto gulp. He had no idea what he was in for.

Inside Big Belly Burger, Naruto and everyone else was just staring at Kara at the feat she had managed to accomplish. Naruto had managed to find someone who liked food just as much as he enjoyed ramen. Kara had devoured, no inhaled, five triple cheeseburgers with as many toppings as she could handle, a couple of baskets of fries, and a couple of milkshakes. Naruto chuckled out loud as Kara stopped eating and realized what she was doing. There was a large blush on her face as she wiped her mouth with a napkin and scratched her head.
"Heh, sorry. It seems I got carried away."
"No, it's okay. It's actually kind of cute… in a way, I guess." Naruto had observed something after Kara had finished eating. The amount of food that she ate could have caused a heart attack… or at the least, left someone very tired and lazy. He noticed that Kara still had energy for days. She truly was a mystery and enigma to him… one that he would figure out if need be. He had no malicious motives. If she was just someone wanting to keep a low profile, he would respect her wishes and leave her be. If she was out to cause chaos, then she would answer to him.
Kara smiled. "Well, I am happy for the meal and very grateful. I think we can call ourselves even now."
Naruto smiled right back. "Well, we can call ourselves even if you can tell me what is bothering you. Forgive me, I do not mean to pry, it's just you seem to be wrestling with something. It is causing you to feel pain. I don't know if I have answers… but I am someone who can listen well."
Kara sighed. Truthfully, she had no desire or interest to share any part of her life with a stranger, even if he was a kind stranger. However, something in this stranger's voice, his honesty, had convinced her that maybe there was no harm in offering the cliff notes of what was bothering her.
"Well… to tell you the truth, I feel I am at a crossroads in my life. I had dreams of a different life, dreams that I so desperately wanted to pursue. My family told me that it was too dangerous to pursue my dreams. And now… I am stuck answering phone calls and getting coffee for my boss. This is not how I envisioned my life turning out."
Naruto nodded gently. "Who is it that you work for?"
"Oh, it's Cat Grant from Cat Co. Media."
"Okay, I see now. Yeah, I can see how that kind of job might be good in the short term but not as a career or something you would want to do for life. Some would be okay to do that for life, and some would want more. My solution is to quit."
Kara chuckled. "Quit, just like that?"
"Yup, just like that. I know it seems like a big decision, but to me, it feels like it's the best decision for you. You seem to be agonizing over this decision, and you should not. I understand your family's worry. A family must protect each other and I get that. However, this is your life and you need to live with making your own decisions. Whether those decisions are good or bad, they are decisions that you have to make. The last thing you want in life is to live it with regrets. Trust me, regrets eat up the heart and soul. And when it is too late, it is inevitably too late."
"What about my family? How would I be able to live with them being disappointed?"
Naruto chuckled. "Anytime you make a big life decision, there is always blowback. That is inevitable. However, if your family loves and cherishes you, they will come to accept your decision because they know that it is your life. The last thing they would ever want is to hold you back. And in time, they would respect the fact that you had the guts and courage to make such a big decision. It is your life miss, so live it the way you need to live it. Do not apologize for that."
Kara shook her head. "I get where you are coming from. It's just… the dream that I have… if I go forward with it, there will be no turning back. I cannot change or take back anything once I embark on the path that I want to embrace. I have no idea what my family would think after I did it. Do you have an answer for that?"
Naruto realized that this was a big decision for the woman sitting in front of him. He realized that this topic was deeply personal and he did not want to pry. Instead, he would offer a nugget of wisdom and would leave her to her thoughts.
"Every man and woman in this world hesitate to do something special and good. They are always ruled by a fear that they are making a mistake, and that they cannot see their path through. The will to act is the most important thing for a human being to have. Look at Superman for instance. He has the will to act. He chooses to put his life in danger for the sake of others. He looks at his path as a calling, not a career, to use his gifts to do the right thing. The will to act is important. It is for man or woman to decide if they can act or not."
Kara felt his words inside her soul. She wished to do what her cousin did. She wished to protect and help people. Perhaps, she needed to find the will to act, to do what was right, to do what she wanted to do. She wanted to thank the blonde in front of her for his advice. When she looked up… he was gone. There was money on the table and an orange book that seemed familiar.
She opened the book and saw his face in it. Her jaw dropped as she realized exactly who she was talking to.
"No way! I was talking to the guy who is the author of "The Gutsy Ninja Redux" series".

Night had fallen upon National City as Kara sat inside her favorite bakery and contemplated the mysterious blonde's words as she sat nibbling on a pastry. He was the author of one of her favorite books. She wondered what kind of experiences he must have had to write a book like that. The book talked about peace, ending hate, and searching for answers to find and keep everlasting peace. It looked like the words of a child, and yet, she felt enraptured by these words. The book was not a best seller, but to her it was special.
She wondered if the blonde moonlighted as a secret psychologist. He seemed to be smart and wise in his way. She wondered what Alex would think of the conversation she had with him. She could picture her sister warning her against men like that, calling his words dangerous, that she needed to protect herself. This was a conversation she was truly dreading to have.
She left the store and sat on a park bench contemplating the blonde's words. She was about to leave when she heard people yelling. She got up to see people staring at a large TV screen that was showing a plane on fire; a plane that was traveling from Geneva to National City.
Kara was horrified. That was the plane that her sister Alex was traveling on for a conference. As the people were staring at the screen in horror, Kara had gone into an alley, wondering what she should do. it was at that moment that she heard the blonde's words ringing in her mind.
"The will to act… the will to act… do not hesitate to act…"
Kara realized that her life would change… for the better or the worse. However, she would make this decision and she would live with the consequences. She would choose to act the way that Superman did. To her, her family was the most important thing. And yes, Alex would be angry, but she would rather Alex be angry than dead.
Removing her jacket, Kara began rushing forward as she tried to gather the energy needed to fly. She began leaping high into the air but kept falling. She would not let herself be deterred. With a loud yell, she kicked off from the ground as a shockwave formed behind her. She was in the sky as she stared at herself in awe. She was flying now like her cousin. She looked at the plane that was in danger of being destroyed and rushed forward to save her sister.
She controlled her speed and her ascent as she stayed underneath the plane and grabbed it as gently as she could. However, before she could do anything else and get the plane to land safely, she was hit in her side violently with an axe.
"Urgh…damn…fuck!" Kara could not believe she was in pain, let alone bleeding from her side. An axe was embedded painfully in her side as it was burning intensely. Before she could remove it, someone powerfully rammed into her, and she was sent crashing into the ground. She was clutching her side where she was bleeding from, as the Valeronian named Vartox towered over her.
He pushed the axe further into her side as she was bleeding profusely. She screamed in pain as he held her by the throat and pulled out his axe. He brandished the axe near her face as he forced her to look at the plane that was falling.
"I do not know who you are, but you will not interfere. You will watch that place explode as all the people in it die. And then I will take your head for my trophy collection. Does that not sound nice?"
Kara fought against his grip… but could do nothing. Tears fell from her eyes as she was going to lose her sister. She had waited for the inevitable and then help had arrived. A fist coated in electricity hit Vartox with tremendous force as he was launched high into the air.
Kara had looked up to see her savior who was cloaked in black furs, his face completely hidden. Her mysterious savior looked at her and spoke words that galvanized her into action.
"Go, Supergirl. Go and save the people in that plane. You are the only one who can. I will deal with the other guy. Believe in yourself… and you can win."
The mysterious individual nodded and then went to confront Vartox. Clutching her side, Kara shook her head and took off into the air with an even greater speed and grabbed the side of the plane, maneuvering it over the bridge. She fought the pain and the sensation of blacking out as Alex looked in shock and horror that her sister had revealed herself. Kara and Alex's eyes had locked with each other but Kara had no time to think about her choice to act.
Using her strength, she carefully stabilized the plane as she helped it land in the water. She smiled to herself as she managed to save her sister and everyone else on the plane. She also noticed the helicopters shining a light on her and she realized her sister was going to explode as soon as she went home.
She had moved away from the scene as she saw her savior battling Vartox. The mysterious individual was strong. Vartox was no match for him even with his axe. Vartox was being hit by rapid, powerful blows infused with lightning. Her savior then brought his hands together and thunder-clapped Vartox at point-blank range before grabbing his axe and slamming it right into his face, killing him.
Kara had cringed at the way he died, but she would have done the same thing if it meant Alex would be safe. She wondered what it meant to take a life and live with the fact that you did take life. Her mysterious savior then appeared behind her as she looked at him.
"Thank you for saving my life. Whoever you are, if you did not show up in time, I would have lost someone dear to me."
The mysterious individual nodded and before he left, he spoke once more to her.
"See you around, hero."
He then disappeared in a shower of leaves and her jaw dropped.
"That is a cool trick. I wonder how he does that?"
Kara too disappeared, ready for the explosion that was to come her way.

Holding her side, Kara was inside her apartment as she bandaged herself. She was starting to heal as she watched the news report on TV. She was quite proud of herself for saving her sister and smiled at what was being said about her.
"On Tonight's news, a mysterious individual had appeared out of nowhere and had managed to save all the people traveling on Flight 351. No one knows the identity of this savior as the people in National City are wondering if it has found its hero like Metropolis has Superman."
Kara smiled. "Damn right National City has found its hero… oh crap."
Kara heard the furious knocking on her door as she opened it to see her sister, Alex Danvers walk inside with a look of worry, confusion, and anger.
"Are you okay? You… you are bleeding…"
Alex was fussing over Kara as Kara spoke.
"Alex, I am okay. I am glad you are okay too. You almost died…"
"What in the hell were you thinking? You could have died. You revealed yourself to the world… you cannot have a normal life…"
Kara sharply interrupted herself. "I did not think. I instead chose to act. I chose to save your life and I do not regret it. I didn't come here to this planet to live a normal life. I was never going to live a normal life. I am meant to do more than fetch coffee and answer calls. I want to do more and I will."
Alex had an incredulous expression on her face. "Do you know what you are saying? You have exposed yourself. People will come after you… people who want to harm you, people who want to see you dead. Do you understand that?"
Kara smiled. "I do. Maybe I am not cut out for this… maybe I am. I won't know until I try. I met someone today. He taught me that I needed to act, to not hesitate in life. I need to make my own decisions and live with them. I know you want what's best for me, but it's my life and I will live it how I want."
"And you know what, Alex? Today, someone saved my life. The guy that saved my life believed in me. He believed that I could be a hero. I am going to be a hero. I am going to protect people. And if it costs me my life, so be it. I regret nothing."
Alex was angry… but now there was something else to worry about. Someone had managed to save Kara's life… someone that had eluded their radar. Could it be the fabled "Aquaman"?
"Do not say that I warned you, Kara."
Alex had left her apartment as Kara took a seat on her sofa. That could have gone so much worse, but it turned out okay. She would prove to her sister that she could do this. First, she needed to offer her resignation to Ms. Grant. And then, she needed to find out more about the guy that saved her life. He was mysterious and yet familiar at the same time.

Chapter End
That is the chapter everyone. Please read and review generously. I hope you all enjoy it.
I am sorry for the late update. COVID is a pain in the ass. Got to get a vaccine next year. I have been hit with bad news recently… so I am now pruning, deleting, and focusing on the stories that matter and the stories that I am interested in doing. Because of this… this story might end earlier. I am determined to give it a good conclusion and reach three to four seasons in the process, I hope. Life has been hell with health and financial and personal issues… and my writing will end one day in the future. Before that day comes, I plan on making an impact. Got so many stories to do.
The other stories that I am thinking of doing are a Naruto/Game of Thrones Anthology series, a final Naruto/Supergirl story on ao3 that focuses on Naruto as a Daxamite, one more smut story, and a Naruto/House of the Dragon anthology series. The Naruto/Game of Thrones Series will explore unconnected arcs such as Naruto/female Maegor, Naruto/Daenys the Dreamer, and many other gender-bent characters and such. I hope you all look forward to these stories.
Stay safe and well wishes. Happy Holidays to you all and a wonderful new year. See you in the next update.
