Chapter 17: The Goblet of Fire Part 1
This is it. It's the finale of the Triwizard tournament. My hands trembled as I pulled my hair back into a ponytail. I gripped my hair tightly, pulling my hair tight. I got startled when I felt a hand on my shoulder.
"Lana?" I turned around to see my wives, Margo and Nala. My mom, Gwen was there as well.
"We just wanted to say goodbye to you before the task," Gwen said. Gwen pulled me into a tight hug. I couldn't help but let out a few sobs. Gwen rubbed my back to help calm me down. "Shh. It's okay, my baby. Let it out, sweetheart." Gwen said soothingly. I let out all my feelings as Gwen, Margo, and Nala held me tight. I never wanted this. I never asked for my name to be drawn against my will. I mean, I wanted to compete at first like I said before, but after I realized how dangerous it was, I wanted to stay out of it.
How is an 11-year-old girl expected to compete in a series of dangerous tasks? I could die or worse... If I do die, I better tell my family I love them.
"Guys... I know I have been saying this for the past couple of tasks but... If I do die. I want you to know I love you." I said.
"We love you too, Lana," Margo said. Margo gave me a soft kiss on my lips. "Everything is going to be okay," Margo assured me.
"Just promise us one thing," Nala said.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Promise me that you will come back safe, no matter what," Nala said. I sighed, not knowing what to say. There is a chance of me dying, but I at least had to try to come back home safely.
I took a deep breath, then said, "Okay. I promise."
Nala squeezed me tight, pulling me into a kiss. I kissed her back. "Thank you," Nala said. I nodded. Margo gave me one more kiss.
"Please, be careful. I don't know what I would do without you." Margo said.
"I will, don't worry," I said.
"Lana. It's time." Harry said when he stepped out of the shadows. I nodded. Harry took my hand as we walked out onto the arena. Loud trumpets and cheers were being heard as we got closer and closer. Harry and I stepped out last with Professor Dumbledore at our side. Professor Dumbledore put comforting hands on our shoulders. My husband, Miguel, my husband, Scar, my father, Ahadi, and my other father, Miles were also by my side. I gripped Harry's hand tightly as we stepped closer to the podium. People continued chanting and cheering.
Professor Dumbledore walked onto the podium. "Sonorus!" Professor Dumbledore yelled. Everyone stopped cheering. The music stopped playing. I listened to Professor Dumbledore closely as he was giving out instructions.
"Earlier today, Professor Moody placed the Triwizard Cup deep within the maze. Only he knows its exact location. Now, as Mr. Diggory..."
The people who were rooting for Cedric Diggory cheered. Cedric's father held his hand up proudly.
"...And Mr. Potter and Mrs. Potter..." The people who were rooting for us roared with cheers. "...Are tied for first position, they will be first to enter the maze. Followed by Mr. Krum..."
Now it was the people who were rooting for Krum to cheer. "...And Ms. Delacour."
"The first person to touch the cup will be the winner." Professor Dumbledore said. Everyone cheered. "I've instructed the staff to patrol the perimeter. Should, at any point, a contestant wishes to withdraw from the task, he or she need to only send up red sparks from their wands. Contestants! Gather around. Quickly."
We did as he said, gathering around him. He placed his arms around me and Krum. He spoke up, his tone low and warning. "In the maze, you will find no dragons or creatures of the deep. Instead, you'll face something even more challenging. You see, people change in the maze. Oh, find the cup if you can. But be very wary. You could just lose yourselves along the way. Champions, prepare yourselves!"
Professor Dumbledore's warning sent shivers down my spine. The cheering and the music began to play again as we made our way towards the entrance of the maze. Miguel and Miles stood next to me when I arrived at my entrance.
"Lana!" Ahadi called. He walked over to me. "Do your best to stay alive." He said.
I nodded. "Okay, Dad," I said. Miles put a hand on my shoulder.
"Good luck," Miles said. I hugged Miles back tightly.
"See you later, Dad. I love you." I said.
"I love you too, honey," Miles said. Without warning, Miguel grabbed me. He pulled me into a rough kiss. Before Miguel could finish, Scar grabbed me too, pulling me in a rough kiss.
"Stay alive. Remember, failure isn't an option." Miguel said once Scar and I were done kissing.
"I know," I said. I stood at my entrance of the maze, preparing to go inside. My heart pounded nervously in my chest. What was I going to have to face if I was not going to fight dragons and other creatures? I looked across from me to see my other dad, Harry standing at his entrance. Cedric gave us a nod from the distance. I gave Harry and Cedric a thumbs up, letting them know I was okay.
Dumbledore began the countdown. "On the count of three. One-" Of course the canon had to go off before Dumbledore could finish his countdown. Filch really needs to do a better job, lol. Okay, now time to be serious. The band begins to play the music. My heart beat faster than before. I took a few deep breaths to calm down, clutching onto my wand tightly.
Before I entered the maze, I took one last look at Scar, Miguel, Ahadi, Harry, and Miles. Harry gave me a nod.
"Well, go on then," Scar said impatiently. I took another deep breath, then took my first steps inside the maze. I turned around to try to get one last look at my family, but before I could, the vines closed in, locking me in from the outside world. The music stopped completely. I felt my breathing getting heavy.
I had to find Harry or Cedric. But where do I start? I began to walk deeper inside the maze. I stopped to face the wall for a second. I gasped and turned around when I heard some birds chirping. This maze is huge, it seemed to go on forever. I had to get a move on. I begin running down one of the straight lines. I heard some rustling noises along with some creaking. I screamed when the vines suddenly began to close in on me. I quickly sprinted away, not wanting to be crushed. I whipped my wand out.
"Reducto!" I yelled. I separated the vines with the spell. The vines stopped closing in on me. I sprinted away again before I was crushed because being crushed was not how I wanted to go. I turned around when I heard a loud clatter noise. My spider senses went off. I can hear Fleur sobbing in the distance. Then, I heard a loud scream. My heart continued to pound loudly as my breathing did not steady.
I sat down for a moment to try to catch my breath. After I took a few moments to calm down I got up and started running again. I hid behind a bush when I heard another creaking noise. My spider senses went off again. I gasped when Krum came too close to me. I had to keep a low profile if I wanted to stay alive. I thought I saw Harry in the corner of my eye up ahead.
Krum pointed his wand at Harry. I got my wand ready in case he attacked. Krum stared at Harry for a few minutes, then he walked away.
"Dad!" I called.
"Lana?" Harry called. "Come here!"
I did as he said, running towards him. "Are you all right?" Harry asked when I reached him.
"Yeah," I said. "What do we do?"
"Just follow me and stay close. Come on." Harry said. Harry grabbed my hand. We began to run down the pathway. The maze was dark and foggy, we could hardly see anything. We stopped running when we saw Fleur tied up in the vines. The vines pulled her inside.
"Fleur?" Harry said quietly. "Fleur," Harry said again, more worried this time. Harry stood up, raising his wand in the air. I decided to help by raising my wand in the air as well.
"Periculum!" Harry and I yelled. The spell sent red sparks up in the sky signaling that Fleur could no longer complete the task. A huge gust of wind picked up with debris flowing everywhere. Harry and I ran faster this time as the walls closed in on us again. At the last second, before we were closed in we jumped. We made a rough landing on the ground. I panted, trying to catch my breath. Harry helped me up. I saw a bright blue light in the distance.
"Dad, look!" I cried, pointing to the blue light. Harry looked in the direction I was pointing in. There, up ahead of us was the Triwizard Cup. We tried running but before we could reach it the walls closed in. We heard Krum shouting in the distance. Then, Cedric came up to us with his wand pointed at us.
"Get down!" Cedric yelled. Cedric fired shots from his wand. Harry pulled me down. "Get down!"
"Expelliarmus!" Cedric yelled. The spell shot at Krum, causing him to fall back. Cedric ran to Krum, kicking the wand out of his hand. As Cedric was about to attack him again, Harry stopped him.
"No, don't! Stop! He's bewitched, Cedric!" Harry shouted.
"Get off me!" Cedric yelled as Harry was holding him down.
"He's bewitched!" Harry yelled again.
"Cedric!" I yelled as he began to run away. Harry and I followed him. As we were running, we kept pushing and shoving each other. Harry ripped Cedric's shirt. The battle for the cup was getting intense now. I guess this is what Dumbledore was talking about when he said the maze changes people. My spider senses went off when we stopped for a second. I looked ahead of me and... there it is! The Triwizard Cup.
"Yes!" Harry and I shouted.
"Let's go!" I shouted. Harry, Cedric, and I raced towards the cup. As we were racing, vines attempted to capture us but I fought them off. Adrenaline was pumping through my blood as we continued to race for the cup while dodging the vines. Cedric gave out a yell when he got captured by the vines. But Harry and I kept running.
We stopped when we saw the vines wrapping around Cedric. Cedric was struggling to fight them off. We looked at the cup again. I struggled to decide whether to betray Harry and Cedric to go get the cup, or save Cedric and stick with Harry. Eternal glory is on the line and I do not intend to waste this opportunity. But then again, Cedric is my friend. I didn't want to lose Harry's trust either.
I looked at Harry to see that he was struggling with the same decision as well. Cedric called out to us for help.
"Harry! Lana!" Cedric yelled as he was struggling to fight off the vines that were trying to capture him. "Harry! Lana!" Cedric cried again. He kept calling our names, begging for help. Harry and I looked at each other. We decided that we were going to save our friend. Harry and I pulled out our wands.
"Reducto!" Harry and I yelled. The spell broke the vines lose, freeing Cedric. We quickly rushed up to him to help him untangle the rest of the vines. Once Cedric got free, Harry helped him up. Cedric coughed, trying to catch his breath. Harry and I put hands on his shoulders.
"Tha... thank you," Cedric said.
"No problem," Harry said.
"What are friends for?" I said.
"You know, for a moment there, I thought you were- You guys were gonna let it get me," Cedric said.
"For a moment, so did I," Harry said.
"Same here," I said.
"Some game, huh?" Cedric said.
"Some game," Harry said, agreeing with him. It was silent for a moment. Then we heard the branches cracking again. A big gust of wind picked up, throwing more debris at us.
"Go!" Cedric yelled. We sprinted very fast as the walls continued to close in on us. We kept running and running until we reached the cup.
"Go on, take it. You guys saved me, take it!" Cedric shouted. Harry looked at the cup for a second, wondering what to do. Harry came up with a decision that we were going to take the cup together.
"Together! One, two... three!" Harry shouted. At the last second as the walls were going to close in, we all grabbed the cup. We kept spinning and spinning until we all made a rough landing on the ground. We lost our grips on the cup, causing it to go flying. I took a few seconds to catch my breath.
"You okay?" Harry asked.
"Yeah. You?" Cedric asked.
"You okay, Lana?" Harry asked me. I gave a thumbs up, letting him know I was okay. I took a look at the spooky scenery filled with giant statues and old cracked headstones. We get up, dusting ourselves off. Were we in a graveyard? My spider senses went off again, warning me of the danger that was coming.
"Where the hell are we?" I asked. I got shivers down my spine as I heard a crow cawing. Cedric bends down to the cup, inspecting it.
"It's a portkey," Cedric said. "Harry, Lana, the cup is a portkey."
"I've been here before," Harry said. My spider senses went off again, warning me we needed to leave now. I walk slightly toward a headstone with a giant grim reaper statue. I feel my body freeze, my breath cut short. My spider senses would not stop going off. I read a name that was engraved on a headstone.
RIDDLE
TOM RIDDLE
1905-1943
"Dad... what the hell is that? Who is that person?" I asked, pointing to the grave. Harry ignored my question.
"I've been here before. In a dream." Harry said. When Harry looked at the same gravestone I was looking at, he realized we were in danger. "Cedric. Lana. We have to get back to the cup. Now!"
"What are you talking about?" Cedric asked. Harry turned around when we heard a door creaking. A cauldron stood in the middle of the graveyard where a fire started. I saw a man walking out the door, walking towards us. Harry gave out a yell in pain as he covered his forehead. His scar must be burning again.
"Dad!" I cried.
"Harry! What is it?" Cedric asked.
"Get back to the cup! Agh!" Harry cried.
"But we can't just leave you!" I argued.
"Do as I say, Lana! Go back to the cup! Now!" Harry yelled. I stood there, not knowing what to do. When the man came closer to us, I got a good look at him. I could see that he was carrying some type of baby in his arms. Cedric stood up quickly, pulling me behind him. Cedric whipped his wand out.
"Stay behind me," Cedric said. I nodded.
"Who are you? What do you want?" Cedric demanded.
"Kill the spare." The creature ordered.
"Avada Kadavra!" The man yelled. The spell shot Cedric, instantly killing him. My eyes widened in horror. Cedric just died right in front of me.
"No! Cedric!" Harry cried. I tried to run away but the man held me in place, along with Harry. The man shoved me into a gravestone. Ropes wrapped around my wrists, ankles, and chest, tying me securely to the gravestone. I struggled but the ropes held me in place. Harry was too shoved onto Tom Riddle's gravestone. Instead of ropes, the man uses the sheath, that locks Harry into place, holding him in a choking position.
"Do it! Now!" The creature in the man's arms yelled. I cringed when the man threw the creature into the cauldron. The man levitated a bone in the air with his wand.
"The bone of the father. Unwillingly given." The man said. The man tosses the bone into the cauldron. The man put his wand away.
"Flesh of the servant... willingly sacrificed." The man said. The man took out a knife. I quickly closed my eyes when I saw the man cutting off his own hand. His hand lands in the cauldron. The man looked at Harry.
"And blood of the enemy..." The man walked up to Harry. Harry yelped when the knife cut his skin. The man then walked up to me. I screamed when the knife cut deep into my skin. "...Forcibly taken."
Harry continued screaming. Tears were streaming down my face. I struggled to get free of the ropes again but it was no use. I was trapped, so was Harry. We were being forced to take part of a ritual that we did not want to do. I prayed, hoping my family would come to rescue me. The man dripped mine and Harry's blood from the knife into the cauldron.
"The Dark Lord shall rise... again." The man said. Harry kept screaming in pain. Fire rose up from the cauldron as the man ran away. Bloody green muck turns red from our blood, lighting up in more flames. Oh no, this can't be good! I watched as the cauldron crumbles and the once small creature has grown, morphing into something... or someone. Black thick smoke clings to his body becoming a robe. Until he finally becomes the one everyone fears...
Voldemort.
A/N: Hey everyone! I am back with chapter 17! I hope you all enjoyed reading this chapter! I will be back soon with chapter 18, I hope to post it sometime within the next couple of days. Also if you haven't read all the chapters and you are wondering why Lana is married at the age of 11, it is because time had changed, causing it to go backward when she lost her family. She was originally 20 when she lost her family but now because of the time change, she is 11 so please don't criticize me for that. Anyways, that is all for tonight, please leave a review.
Have a nice day, don't forget to leave a review, and thank you for all your love and support!
