Chapter 756: Beaulieu Manor
Friday, March 24th, Evening
Dinner at Beaulieu Manor was done in family style. They would sit around the table and pass food around. Brooke preferred people to dress nicely, but most wore what they wore at school or work. Brooke's vision of being like Downton Abbey was hardly met, never mind the protocol for conversation.
Sawyer sat at the table and pushed the remains of her dinner around her plate. She looked over the table to see Keni leaning back in her chair with her foot on the seat. Sawyer looked over to see Brooke gazing down at Keni. Shaking her head, Sawyer knew what was coming.
"Keni, please sit right," Brooke said.
"Why?" Keni asked.
"Because you're at the dinner table," Brooke said.
"Dinner is over, Mom," Keni said.
"It still isn't polite to sit like that at the table," Brooke said, "Also, a proper lady doesn't sit like that."
"I'm not a proper lady, Mom," Keni said.
"I didn't raise you that way," Brooke said.
"Nomi, Ellis, could you please head to the lady's parlor," Izzy said.
"Why, Mom?" Nomi asked.
"Because I said so," Izzy said.
"Yes, Mommy," Ellis said and got up. Nomi huffed, got up, and followed her little brother. Izzy shook her head and looked down the table at Candi, who was chuckling. Once the two young children left the room, Candi shook her head.
"She's got spirit," Candi said.
"That she does," Ellie said.
"She's a Sawyer, a Scott, and a Davis, so of course there's spirit there," Izzy said, "So, anyway."
Brooke nodded and was about to say something, but Izzy cut her off. "So, Callie, Tucker tells me you're going out tomorrow with him and Alix," Izzy said.
Callie nodded, "Yeah, we're going to meet Kat and possibly, hopefully, jam," she said.
"Kat's good people," Lucas said, "You should have fun."
"I'm hoping and praying she's not a diva," Callie said.
"Kat's many things, but diva, she's not," Ellie said.
"Are you sure?" Callie asked.
Ellie nodded, "Yes, I've known Kat a long time; if anything, she's shy," she said.
"I find that hard to believe," Callie said.
"It's true," Ellie said.
Izzy nodded, "Kat is very quiet. Alix is the more extroverted of the sisters," she said.
"Do all of you know Kat Hartmann?" Callie asked.
"Pretty much," Izzy said.
"So, what are you doing tomorrow, Keni?" Izzy asked.
Keni shrugged. "I don't know, probably nothing; maybe find a place to hide or bug Sawyer," she said.
"Are you a cat?" Brooke asked.
"No, Mom," Keni said, "Why do you ask?"
"Because I find you lying around the house," Brooke said.
"Oh well, it's my day off," Keni said.
Brooke made a face and shook her head. "Of all my children, you're the least ambitious," she said.
"Maybe my ambitions lay elsewhere," Keni said.
"Mom, Keni, please," Izzy said.
"Okay," Keni said.
"We're not done, Missy," Brooke said.
Izzy shook her head, "Enough, please," Izzy said, "Sawyer, do you have any plans?"
Sawyer shrugged, "I don't know, I'm supposed to stream, but that's later," she said.
"So, you're just going to mope about the house?" Izzy asked.
Sawyer shrugged, "I wouldn't necessarily call it moping about, but yeah, I was just planning on hanging around until I stream," she said.
Izzy nodded, "Do you mind going with me tomorrow?" Izzy asked.
"Where are you going?" Sawyer asked.
"I have some official stuff I have to do, and I would like you to come along," Izzy said.
"It sounds boring," Sawyer said.
Izzy shook her head. "It's not going to be boring, I'm sure of it," she said.
Sawyer shook her head, "Fine, do I have to get dressed up?" she asked.
"Depends, but I think you'd want to look nice," Izzy said.
Sawyer tilted her head, "How nice?" she asked.
"Comfortably nice," Izzy said.
Sawyer looked at Brooke and saw a beaming look on Brooke's face. Next, Sawyer turned to look at Lucas; he nodded and smiled. "What type of thing is this?" Sawyer asked.
"We're going to the readiness center," Izzy said.
"Why the readiness center?" Sawyer asked.
"I have something to do there?" Izzy said.
"Something with the family support group?" Sawyer asked.
"No," Izzy said.
"Then what is it?" Sawyer asked.
"There is a ceremony there that I think you should attend," Izzy said.
"What type of ceremony?" Sawyer asked.
"One for the whole first of the one, two, zero, Infantry," Izzy said.
"The whole…wait, that would mean," Sawyer said.
Keni leaned over to Callie. "Wait for it," Keni said.
"Wait for what?" Callie asked.
"You'll see," Keni said.
"Keith is home!" Sawyer squealed.
Izzy nodded, "Yes, and he'll be released tomorrow," she said.
"I can't wait to tell; wait, why aren't Nomi and Ellis here?" Sawyer asked.
"It's a surprise for them, so please don't tell them," Izzy said.
"I won't," Sawyer said and started to bounce in her seat, "I can't believe it, oh my god!"
Izzy smiled and was glad she could bring joy to her sister-in-law. She looked to Keni, who sat there with a smirk.
