Chapter 7: A New Adventure
It has been a week since Naruto's meeting with the leader of the Shinto pantheon and even though his physical injuries have been completely healed by the time, he first woke up lady tsunade has not allowed him to get out of the hospital. Even though Naruto was annoyed at first, he decided to look at it as time for him to think about everything that had happened.
At the roof of the hospital Naruto sat in a meditating position. Deep inside the young sage, Kurama looked concerned about the red head.
"Naruto what's wrong with you, your mind is a jumble mess of different thoughts" Kurama asked.
Naruto seems to ignore Kurama which annoyed him to no end.
"Naruto…. Naruto…. hey….heeeyyy….don't ignore me you brat!" he then hears snoring "HEY,ARE YOU SLEEPING?! WAKE UP YOU LAZY BRAT." Shouted the Fox.
"WAH, WHO, WHERE!?" Naruto slurred his word as he stood up in a fighting stance looking frantically around him.
"About time to you woke up, can't believe you were asleep this whole time." Said Kurama with a lone eyebrow madly twitching.
Naruto looked a bit sheepish at hearing this.
"I wasn't asleep the whole time I was actually mediating." Said Naruto sitting backdown in his meditating position.
"riiiight" Kurama deadpanned.
"Honest, I only slept for like…." He looked at the position of the sun "30 minutes".
"Sure, fine whatever" Kurama scoffed.
"So, what's got your mind messier than usually." said Kurama.
"Well, I have been thinking." Said Naruto as he began to slightly levitate.
"I haven't been doing my job as a sage."
"Not your fault, you where busy dealing with pain and two years of warfare."
"So? pervy sage fought two wars and he still did his job as a sage. He wondered the world gathering Knowledge, teaching people."
"Peeping on women and getting beat up by them" finished Kurama while smirking.
"peeping on wome-"Naruto stopped as he sweat dropped.
Naruto coughed clearing his throat.
"Anyway, the point is that I don't really feel like I have done much since becoming a sage, I want to go out and see what the world has to offer, meet new people learn new skills and teach others." Said Naruto.
"But…?" said Kurama waiting for a response.
"I also want to be Hokage, but I can't do both at the same time…. a Hokage is mostly confined to the village. A Hokage's duty is primarily to the village and a sage duty is to the world..." He then sighs "so that's where I'm at."
"I wished I could help you get the answer…." Kurama hummed "maybe you'll find the answer to your question in another world."
"what do you-" Naruto stopped and looked at his hand." Right…another world…Hmm…maybe."
"Well, I think is about time I got myself ready for it then." He then stood up and stretched, hearing a pleasant pop of his joints. "Just got to pack my things and say my goodbyes".
A day later Naruto stood in front of his closest friends, a heavy feeling in his heart. He knew that this moment had been inevitable, but it didn't make it any easier. He had made the difficult decision to leave their universe and venture into another one, a decision driven by a sense of duty and a longing for new adventures.
His friends, Sakura, Sasuke, Kakashi, and the others, gathered around him, their expressions a mixture of sadness and understanding. Naruto's bright blue eyes, which had seen so much in their world, were filled with determination.
"Sakura, Sasuke, Kakashi-sensei," Naruto began, his voice steady despite the emotions welling up inside him. "I want you all to know that this isn't a goodbye forever. It's more like... 'See you later.'"
Sakura couldn't hold back her tears. She had always been emotional, and Naruto's departure was hitting her hard. Sasuke, as stoic as ever, simply nodded, but there was a hint of sadness in his eyes. Kakashi, who had been like a father figure to Naruto, put a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
"We understand, Naruto," Kakashi said softly. "You've always had a strong sense of responsibility and adventure. Just promise us one thing: come back safely."
Naruto smiled, his trademark grin that had brightened their lives for so long. "Of course, Kakashi-sensei. I'll come back stronger and with even more incredible stories to tell."
The rest of their friends took turns sharing their well-wishes and goodbyes. Shikamaru, Choji, Ino, and the others expressed their support, and even the ever-competitive Rock Lee couldn't hide the sadness in his eyes.
As the farewell continued, Naruto couldn't help but reflect on all the adventures, battles, and bonds they had shared. These friends had been through thick and thin together, and he knew that their friendship would endure, no matter the distance or the universe that separated them.
Naruto then turn towards Hinata, their eyes locked with each other, they held hands and they lost themselves in each other gaze. Hinata took Naruto's face into her hand and brought him in for a deep kiss. Hinata rapped her arms around Naruto's neck while he hugged Hinata's lower back gently. The two lovers seems like they didn't want to part, but they knew it was time to do so.
"I'll see you later sweety" said Hinata wish a light blush.
"I'll be back as soon as I can" said Naruto with a gentle smile.
Finally, the time had come for Naruto to leave. He turned away from his friends and faced the portal that would take him to another universe. With a deep breath, he stepped forward, disappearing into the unknown.
His friends watched the spot where he had been, their hearts heavy but filled with hope. They knew that Naruto would face new challenges and forge new friendships wherever he went, but the memories of their time together would always remain a cherished part of their lives.
And so, Naruto Uzumaki, the Hero of their village and of their world, ventured into another universe, ready to embrace the unknown and continue his incredible journey. His friends waved him goodbye, knowing that this was not the end but a new beginning for their beloved ninja.
Olympus one week before the end of the fourth shinobi war.
New York 5:52 am.
"We have reports of violent storms with winds speed up to 20 miles per hour. There's also danger of flash floods, it is highly advisable not stay home. Meteorologists have said that it is possible that New York will be hit with a tsunami if this violent weather does not stop."
Meanwhile in Olympus.
"I KNOW YOU STOLE IT, GIVE IT BACK!" Zeus shouted at his brother.
"AND I TOLD YOU I DIDN'T TAKE TOUR STUPID TOY." Poseidon shouted back.
"TOY?! TOOOOY?! MY MASTER BOLT IS NOT A TOY!" Shouted Zeus in outrage.
"So how long have they been at it this time?" Asked Apollo.
"Five hours, twenty-three minutes and 32 seconds" answered Athena while she flipped a page on her book.
Naruto stepped out of the portal
What he saw made his eyes widen like saucers.
There were buildings the size of the complete nine tails made out of steel and all sorts of metals. some of them went all the way into the sky. Never in his life had Naruto seen a building built as high as the ones he saw here.
He looked down towards the streets of the cities and saw hundreds if not thousands of people just walking around casually.
"Woah" was all Naruto could say as he stared at his surroundings.
"These buildings are way bigger than the ones at the fire capital" said Naruto in awe of his surroundings.
He looked at his surroundings again and smiled. He then puffed out his chest and took in a deep breath before he shouted out.
"And technology wise this world seems to be. a bit more advanced that the elemental nations".
"Indeed" said Artemis as she walked next to her son.
"Hi mom" Naruto greeted with a smile.
"So have you decided what you're going to do now that you are in a whole new world." Asked the goddess expectedly.
"Well, I want to go out meet new people and just see the world…but honestly, now that I'm here I'm not really sure where to beginning."
"How about you go and explore the Forrest of this world and get yourself acclimatize with its inhabitants and the energy that flows through out the land.
"Ok that's a start thanks mom." Naruto said as he smiled at his you coming with me?.
"Of course I am, I want to spend as much time as I can with you. And I also need to teach you how Chanel your divinity safely so that we I claim you, you won't blow up half the galaxy. Said Artemis as she poke Naruto cheeks.
"Uh?" Said Naruto confused.
Well when a god claim their Demi god child, that eeg child get
New York five months later.
when we went to the Saratoga battlefield, I had this accident with a Revolutionary War cannon. I wasn't aiming for the school bus, but of course I got expelled anyway. And before that, at my fourth-grade school, when we took a behind-the- scenes tour of the Marine World shark pool, I sort of hit the wrong lever on the catwalk and our class took an unplanned swim. And the time before that . . . Well, you get the idea.
This trip, he was determined to be good.
All the way into the city, I put up with Nancy Bobofit, the freckly redheaded kleptomaniac girl, hitting my best friend Grover in the back of the head with chunks of peanut butter-and-ketchup sandwich.
Grover was an easy target. He was scrawny. He cried when he got frustrated. He must've been held back several grades, because he was the only sixth grader with acne and the start of a wispy beard on his chin. On top of all that, he was crippled. He had a note excusing him from P.E. for the rest of his life because he had some kind of muscular disease in his legs. He walked funny, like every step hurt him, but don't let that fool you. You should've seen him run when it was enchilada day in the cafeteria.
Nancy Bobofit was throwing wads of sandwich that stuck in his curly brown hair, and she knew I couldn't do anything back to her because I was already on probation. The headmaster had threatened me with death-by-in-school-suspension if anything bad, embarrassing, or even mildly entertaining happened on this trip.
"I'm going to kill her," Percy mumbled.
Grover tried to calm me down. "It's okay. I like peanut butter." He dodged another piece of Nancy's lunch.
"That's it." Percy started to get up, but Grover pulled him back to his seat.
"You're already on probation," he reminded. "You know who'll get blamed if anything happens."
Mr. Brunner led the museum tour.
He rode up front in his wheelchair, guiding the class through the big echoey galleries, past marble statues and glass cases full of really old black-and-orange pottery.
It blew Percy's mind that this stuff had survived for two thousand, three thousand years. around a thirteen-foot-tall stone column with a big sphinx on the top, and started to explain how it was a grave marker, a stele, for a girl about their age. He explained the carvings on the sides. Percy was trying really hard to listen to what he had to say, because to him it was kind of interesting, but everybody around Percy was talking, and every time he told them to shut up, the other teacher chaperone, Mrs. Dodds, would give him the stick eye.
Mrs. Dodds was this little math teacher from Georgia who always wore a black leather jacket, even though she was fifty years old. She looked mean enough to ride a Harley right into your locker. She had come to Yancy halfway through the year, when the last math teacher had a nervous breakdown.
Mr. Brunner kept talking about Greek funeral art.
Finally, Nancy Bobofit snickered something about the naked guy on the stele, and percy turned around and said, 'Will you shut up?'
It came out louder than he meant it to. The whole group laughed. Mr Brunner stopped his story.
'Mr Jackson,' he said, 'did you have a comment?'
"No sir" said percy while blushing in embarrassment.
Mr Brunner pointed to one of the pictures on the stele.
"Perhaps you'll tell us what this picture represents?"
Percy ooked at the carving, and felt a flush of relief, because he actually recognized it. "That's Kronos eating his kids, right?"
"Yes," Mr Brunner said, obviously not satisfied. "And he did this because . . ."
'Well . . .' percy racked his brain trying remember. 'Kronos was the king of the gods, and –"
'God? ' Mr Brunner asked.
'Titan,' percy corrected himself. 'And . . . he didn't trust his kids, who were the gods. So, um, Kronos ate them, right? But his wife hid baby Zeus, and gave Kronos a rock to eat instead. And later, when Zeus grew up, he tricked his dad, Kronos, into barfing up his brothers and sisters –'
'Eeew! ' said one of the girls behind me.
'– and so there was this big fight between the gods and the Titans,' percy continued, 'and the gods won.'
Some snickers from the group.
Behind percy, Nancy Bobofit mumbled to a friend, 'Like we're going to use this in real life. Like it's going to say on our job applications, "Please explain why Kronos ate his kids".'
'And why, Mr Jackson,' Brunner said, 'to paraphrase Miss Bobofit's excellent question, does this matter in real life? '
'Busted,' Grover muttered.
'Shut up,' Nancy hissed, her face even brighter red than her hair.
At least Nancy got in trouble, too. Mr Brunner was the only one who ever caught her saying anything wrong. He had radar ears.
percy thought about his question and shrugged. 'I don't know, sir.'
'I see.' Mr Brunner looked disappointed. 'Well, half credit, Mr Jackson. Zeus did indeed feed Kronos a mixture of mustard and wine, which made him disgorge his other five children, who, of course, being immortal gods, had been living and growing up completely undigested in the Titan's stomach. The gods defeated their father, sliced him to pieces with his own scythe, and scattered his remains in Tartarus, the darkest part of the Underworld. On that happy note, it's time for lunch. Mrs Dodds, would you lead us back outside?'
The class drifted off, the girls holding their stomachs, the guys pushing each other around and acting like doofuses.
Grover and Percy were about to follow when Mr Brunner said, 'Mr Jackson.'
"I knew that was coming." Percy thought.
Percy told Grover to keep going. Then he turned towards Mr Brunner. 'Sir?'
Mr Brunner had this look that wouldn't let you go – intense brown eyes that could've been a thousand years old and had seen everything.
'You must learn the answer to my question,' Mr. Brunner told Percy.
'About the Titans? ' asked Percy in confusion
'About real life. And how your studies apply to it.' Said Mr. Brunner
'Oh.' Said Percy in understanding.
'What you learn from me,' he said, 'is vitally important. I expect you to treat it as such. I will accept only the best from you, Percy Jackson.'
he wanted to get angry, this guy pushed him so hard.
sure, it was kind of cool on tournament days, when he dressed up in a suit of Roman armour and shouted: 'What ho! ' and challenged them, sword-point against chalk, to run to the board and name every Greek and Roman person who had ever lived, and their mother, and what god they worshipped. But Mr Brunner expected him to be as good as everybody else, despite the fact he has dyslexia and attention deficit disorder and had never made above a C- in his entire life.
Percy mumbled something about trying harder, while Mr Brunner took one long sad look at the stele, like he'd been at this girl's funeral.
He told Percy to go outside and eat his lunch.
The class gathered on the front steps of the museum, where they could watch the foot traffic along Fifth Avenue.
Overhead, a huge storm was brewing, with clouds blacker than Percy ever seen over the city. figured maybe it was global warming or something, because the weather all across New York state had been weird since Christmas. They have had massive snowstorms, flooding, wildfires from lightning strikes. At this point it wouldn't have been surprised if this was a hurricane blowing in.
Nobody else seemed to notice. Some of the guys were pelting pigeons with Lunchables crackers. Nancy Bobofit was trying to pickpocket something from a lady's bag, and, of course, Mrs Dodds wasn't seeing a thing.
Grover and Percy sat on the edge of the fountain, away from the others. maybe if they did that, everybody wouldn't know they were from that school – the school for loser freaks who couldn't make it elsewhere.
'Detention? ' Grover asked.
'Nah,' Percy said. 'Not from Brunner. I just wish he'd lay off me sometimes. I mean – I'm not a genius.'
Grover didn't say anything for a while. Then, when Pecry thought he was going to give him some deep philosophical comment to make him feel better, he said, 'Can I have your apple?'
he didn't have much of an appetite, so he let him take it.
Mr Brunner parked his wheelchair at the base of the handicapped ramp. He ate celery while he read a paperback novel. A red umbrella stuck up from the back of his chair, making it look like a motorized café table.
Percy was about to unwrap my sandwich when Nancy Bobofit appeared in front of him with her ugly friends – I guess she'd gotten tired of stealing from the tourists – and dumped her half-eaten lunch in Grover's lap.
'Oops.' She grinned at me with her crooked teeth. Her freckles were orange, as if somebody had spray-painted her face with liquid Cheetos.
Percy tried to stay cool. The school counsellor had told him half a million times, 'Count to ten, get control of your temper.' But Percy was so mad that his mind went blank. A wave roared in his next thing he knew, Nancy was sitting on her butt in the fountain, screaming, 'Percy pushed me!'
Mrs. Dodds materialized next to Percy and Grover.
Some of the kids were whispering: 'Did you see –'
'– the water –'
'– like it grabbed her –'
'I didn't know what they were talking about. All I know is that I am in trouble…again.' Percy thought to himself.
As soon as Mrs. Dodds was sure poor little Nancy was okay, promising to get her a new shirt at the museum gift shop, etc., etc., Mrs Dodds turned on me. There was a triumphant fire in her eyes, as if he'd done something she'd been waiting for all semester. 'Now, honey –'
'I know,' he grumbled. 'A month erasing textbooks.'
That wasn't the right thing to say.
'Come with me,' Mrs. Dodds said.
'Wait! ' Grover yelped. 'It was me. I pushed her.'
Percy stared at him, stunned. he couldn't believe he was trying to cover for him. Mrs Dodds scared Grover to death.
She glared at him so hard his whiskery chin trembled.
'I don't think so, Mr Underwood,' she said.
'But –'
'You – will – stay – here.'
Grover looked at Percy desperately.
'It's okay, man,' he told him. 'Thanks for trying.'
'Honey,' Mrs. Dodds barked at him. 'Now.'
Nancy Bobofit smirked.
Percy gave her my deluxe I'll-kill-you-later stare and then turned to face Mrs Dodds, but she wasn't there. She was standing at the museum entrance, way at the top of the steps, gesturing impatiently at percy to hurry up.
'How'd she gets there so fast?' he thought
Percy went after Mrs. Dodds.
Halfway up the steps, he glanced back at Grover. He was looking pale, cutting his eyes between Percy and Mr. Brunner, like he wanted Mr Brunner to notice what was going on, but Mr Brunner was absorbed in his novel.
Percy looked back up. Mrs Dodds had disappeared again. She was now inside the building, at the end of the entrance hall.
Okay, he thought. She's going to make me buy a new shirt for Nancy at the gift shop'. But apparently that wasn't the plan. Percy followed her deeper into the museum. When he finally caught up to her, they were back in the Greek and Roman section.
Except for them, the gallery was empty.
Mrs. Dodds stood with her arms crossed in front of a big marble frieze of the Greek gods. She was making this weird noise in her throat, like growling.
Even without the noise, Percy would've been nervous. It's weird being alone with a teacher, especially Mrs Dodds. Something about the way she looked at the frieze, as if she wanted to pulverize it . . .
You've been giving us problems, honey,' she said.
Percy did the safe thing and said, 'Yes, ma'am.'
She tugged on the cuffs of her leather jacket. 'Did you really think you would get away with it?'
The look in her eyes was beyond mad. It was evil. "She's a teacher, Percy thought nervously. It's not like she's going to hurt me."
" 'I'll – I'll try harder, ma'am.' Said Percy with a nervous sweat drop.
Thunder shook the building.
'We are not fools, Percy Jackson,' Mrs. Dodds said. 'It was only a matter of time before we found you out. Confess, and you will suffer less pain.'
'Well? ' she demanded.
'Ma'am, I don't . . .'
'Your time is up,' she hissed. Then the weirdest thing happened. Her eyes began to glow like barbecue coals. Her fingers stretched, turning into talons. Her jacket melted into large, leathery wings. She wasn't human. She was a shriveled hag with bat wings and claws and a mouth full of yellow fangs, and she was about to slice me to ribbons.
Then things got even stranger.
Mr. Brunner, who'd been out in front of the museum a minute before, wheeled his chair into the doorway of the gallery, holding a pen in his hand.
'What ho, Percy! ' he shouted, and tossed the pen through the air.
Mrs. Dodds lunged at the boy
With a yelp, Percy dodged and felt talons slash the air next to his head. Percy snatched the ballpoint pen out of the air, but when it hit his hand, it wasn't a pen any more. It was a sword – Mr Brunner's bronze sword, which he always used on tournament day.
Mrs. Dodds spun towards Percy with a murderous look in her eyes.
his knees were jelly. his hands were shaking so bad he almost dropped the sword.
She snarled, 'Die, honey! '
And she flew straight at me.
Absolute terror ran through his body. And before Percy could make a move, a flash of red light appeared revealing a red haired teen.
The red head grabbed Mrs. Dodds by the hand.
"Easy there Ma'am, there's no need for all the violence" said the red head.
"who-wha- Naru" the teen covered her mouth and said" ssshh not here, how about we talk somewhere more…private."
The red head looked back at Percy.
"Erm this is just a big misunderstanding ,ok? Don't mind whatever she said kay?
And with a red flash Mrs. Dodds and the red head were gone.
Percy was left dumbfounded standing There with ballpoint pen in his hand.
Mr. Brunner wasn't there. Nobody was there but Percy in the hall.
His hands were still trembling.
"My lunch must've expired or something. Had I imagined the whole thing?" he thought to himself.
Percy went back outside.
It had started to rain.
Grover was sitting by the fountain, a museum map tented over his head. Nancy Bobofit was still standing there, soaked from her swim in the fountain, grumbling to her ugly friends. When she saw Percy she said, 'I hope Mrs. Kerr whipped your butt.'
Percy said, 'Who?'
'Our teacher. Duh!'
He blinked. "We had no teacher named Mrs. Kerr. What are you talking about "
She just rolled her eyes and turned away.
Percy asked Grover where Mrs. Dodds was.
Grover seems confused by Percy's question.
'Not funny, man,' Percy almost shouted. 'This is serious.'
Thunder boomed overhead.
Percy saw Mr. Brunner sitting under his red umbrella, reading his book, as if he'd never moved. So, he went over to him. He looked up, a little distracted. 'Ah, that would be my pen. Please bring your own writing utensil in the future, Mr. Jackson.'
'Sir,' Percy said, 'where's Mrs. Dodds?'
He stared at me blankly. 'Who?'
'The other chaperone. Mrs. Dodds. The pre-algebra teacher.'
He frowned and sat forward, looking mildly concerned.
'Percy, there is no Mrs. Dodds on this trip. As far as I know, there has never been a Mrs. Dodds at Yancy Academy. Are you feeling all right?'
"I-uh-yes Mr. Bruner never mind" Percy sigh.
On the roof of a building, we see Mrs. Dodds looking disoriented. She looked frantically around her till she spotted the red-headed teen sitting on the edge of the building.
"So…. care to tell me what is one of the furies doing outside of hades threating a young BUT most importantly innocent demigod?".
"Innocent? Are you out of your mind child? He stole the master Bolt he is anything but innocent."
"Really now…and how would a demigod with virtually no knowledge of the real world or his heritage for that matter be able to even reach Mount Olympus much less steal the bolt from the old pervert." Said the red head while looking down at the museum.
Mrs. Dodds widened her eyes.
"See makes no sense when you stop and give it a second thought."
"hades" she cursed "back to square one".
"Not…necessarily."
Mrs. Dodds looked like a The teen and narrowed her eyes.
"What do you mean? Do you have a clue?"
" I can do you one better, I know who stole the bolt and who has it."
Mrs. Dodds looked surprised.
"Then why haven't you retrieved it?"
"because I need proof….. things are getting really complicated and that electric windbag wont do anything till the truth is literally slapping him on the face…and even then he might still not believe or care."
" so who stole the master bolt.?
Naruto got up and walked towards Mrs. Dodds and whispered something on her ears. She then widened her eyes in surprise and fear.
"and before you ask yes I am one hundred percent sure, which is why im hunting for proof and biding my time."
" by the gods this is…worst that just a stole divine weapon….this could mean the end of world".
" I need you to do me a favor"
Naruto pulled a scrolled from his pouch.
" I need you to deliver this to lord hades as soon as you can." As he said this the ground lightly shock.
"what is this?" said Mrs. Dodds.
" just something that the lord of the death would be very interested in knowing".
" ill get it to him at once, may the gods be with you…Naruto Uzumaki." Said Mrs. Dodds as she flew away.
Naruto waved at her as she flew away, he then turned and looked at percy and grover from the roof top.
"Now…what to with you".
Chapter end.
