All I Care About is Rogue

"How is she, Hank?" Xavier asked worriedly.

"She's stable. For now," Hank said checking an unconscious Rogue lying in a bed. He, Xavier and Logan were together with Rogue in the mansion's Infirmary. "Her latest personality absorption overload did quite a number on her."

"No kidding," Logan grunted sitting at Rogue's side. "And I thought my struggles with mixed up memories were rough."

"I should have known something like this would happen. And I should have been better prepared to treat it," Xavier frowned blaming himself. "Every mutant power has its limit, especially those dealing with the mind."

"You did all you could, Charles," Hank tried consoling him. "You managed to help Rogue deal with the tempestuous flood of personalities. Now all we can do is let her rest."

"Ohhh," Rogue let out a soft moan.

"Easy there, kid," Logan cautioned watching Rogue's eyes slowly flutter open. "No need to go to Defcon 4. You're safe."

"L-L-Logan?" Rogue blinked unsteadily.

"I'm right here, Stripes," Logan gently held her hand. "Everything's gonna be okay."

"I-I need something," Rogue stuttered shakily. "Will you please bring it to me?"

"Of course, Rogue. Anything," Xavier said soothingly. "What is it?"

"I…I…" Rogue's voice was barely a whisper. "I want Gambit. Where is Gambit?"

"Huh?" Logan blinked in surprise.

"Bring me Gambit," Rogue pleaded. "I want Gambit."

"Is Rogue experiencing another absorbed personality?" Hank asked looking confused.

"I don't believe so," A stunned Xavier said doing a quick mental scan. "Unfortunately."

"G-A-M-B-I-T," Rogue's voice gradually grew stronger. "I'm all his."

"WHAT?!" Logan yelped.

"Gambit's my ideal fit," Rogue declared dreamily. She tilted her head as if sensing something. "And oooh, what luck. 'Cause here he is!"

BOOOM!

"Huh?" The three mutant adults turned and stared as a series of loud crashes, smashes and explosions were heard roaring outside the Infirmary.

"Sheilas and X-Men!" A familiar, cheerful Australian-accented voice announced. "Presenting the Ragin' Cajun Prince of Thieves! The one, the only: Remy LeBeau!"

"What?" Xavier blinked as the Infirmary doors suddenly began to glow.

"Oh dear," Hank gulped. "This can not be good."

"Ta-da!" The glowing Infirmary doors smoothly melted away revealing a beaming, dashing Remy confidently striding out through a dramatic curtain of fire columns and smoke. "I don't care about expensive things! Cashmere coats, diamond rings!"

"That'll be a first," Someone was heard snorting.

"Don't mean a thing!" Remy smiled spreading his arms wide. "All I care about is Rogue!"

"WHAT?!" Logan roared.

"She's who I'm here for!" Remy declared.

"She's who he's here for!" Pyro sang backing him up.

"Over my dead body!" Logan howled unsheathing his claws before lunging at Remy.

"I can arrange that!" Sabertooth burst into the room tackling Logan with a pounce. "You're in for it this time, Runt!"

"Oh dear," Hank groaned as Logan and Sabertooth began to fight. "Here we go again."

"I don't care about no mutant rights! Wacky days, crazy nights!" Remy sang while neatly avoiding the two brawling feral mutants. "Don't mean a thing! All I think about is Rogue!"

"All he thinks about is Rogue!" Pyro cheered entering the room accompanied by a flaming fire chorus.

"This is getting out of hand," Hank gulped at the madness overtaking the Infirmary. "Where are Storm and the rest of the students?"

"I'm afraid they're all busy dealing with Magneto's remaining cohorts in the mansion's upper levels," Xavier reported holding his fingers to his temples. "At least what remains of them. And for some reason I am unable to telepathically enter any of Magneto's charges' minds. Not that I want to…"

"Place your hand in with mine! And you'll see it's divine!" Remy crooned at Rogue with a wink. "Let me hold you in my arms! I tell ya, chérie, you'll fall for my charms!"

"Oh wow!" Rogue practically swooned clutching her blankets.

"Oh my," Hank blushed turning away in embarrassment.

"Oh no," Xavier groaned in helplessness. "Logan was insistent about installing weapon emplacements in the Infirmary, but I just had to overrule him…"

"I'm not one for popularity! Fortune, fame or glory!" Remy grinned continuing to strut around. "No, no, not me! All I care about is Rogue!"

"All he cares about is Rogue!" Pyro and the fire chorus sang.

"Oh Gambit," Rogue gazed at Remy in amazement. "You cast aside your ties to Magneto, risked who knows what kind of horrible brutal punishments, stormed the X-Mansion, fought your way all the way down to the Infirmary, just for me?"

"Yep," Remy beamed proudly striking a pose.

"You're who he lives for!" Pyro whooped setting a nearby chair on fire in tribute.

"Though Gambit himself might not live for much longer," Xavier moaned. "Especially if Logan has his way."

"DIE! DIE! DIE!" Logan and Sabertooth rolled around trying to strangle each other.

"I've been such a fool," Rogue sighed shaking her head. "I've given you nothing but scorn, rejection and contempt for far too long."

"Then come with me, chérie," Remy grinned literally sweeping Rogue off the bed. "Let's cut loose and make up for lost time!"

"Okay!" Rogue said breathlessly as she and Remy began happily waltzing around the room. "This is so romantic! I don't why I ever denied and hid my inevitable feelings for you!"

"Huh?" A shocked Xavier blinked at Rogue's unexpected behavior. "How many drugs did you give her, Hank?"

"Obviously not enough," Hank groaned covering his eyes. "I think I'll go prepare an extra strong set of tranquillizers."

"Isn't that a little extreme?" Xavier asked worriedly.

"Not when they're intended for me," Hank moaned reaching for a syringe. "For purely medicinal purposes."

"Yay! Go Gambit!" Pyro and the fire chorus cheered. "All he thinks about is Rogue!"

"Show me smooth, white-striped hair! Flowing down, right to there!" Remy smiled running a hand across Rogue's shoulders. "And when I see you dancing free! Keep your kisses, that's enough for me!"

"That's what you think," Rogue giggled into Remy's ear.

"What?" Xavier gasped as Rogue rubbed her patient-gowned body snuggly up against Remy's. "Oh dear. It seems there is still an anomalous persona or two lingering in Rogue's psyche."

"No, really?" Hank drawled plunging a long needle into his forearm. "I never would have guessed. Oh, that's a good sedative…"

"I don't care about the mutant cause! Or for dumb human laws!" Remy smiled happily swinging around with Rogue as an unconscious Hank crashed to the floor. "No, no, not me!"

"Oooh!" Pyro and the fire chorus hooted.

"All I care about is…" Remy paused dramatically falling to one knee. "Following my heart! Making dreams come true! Living up life! Together with you!"

"What?" Xavier gasped as Remy produced a large, elegant diamond ring and presented it to Rogue. "No! You can't do this! It's too soon…wait a minute. That's my mother's ring! How did you get that?!"

"All I care about…" Remy bellowed passionately gazing up into Rogue's eyes.

"All he cares about…" Pyro and fire chorus roared with Remy in unison as a dazzling series of fireworks rocked the Infirmary. "…IS ROOOOOOGGGUUUEEE!"

"Wow," Rogue gaped at Remy in awe. "That was all simply…whoa!" She yelped as Remy dipped her. "Oh Remy…"

"Oh chérie," Remy whispered bringing his lips towards hers.

"Alright! Way to go, Gambit! Wohooo!" Pyro and the fire chorus whooped.

"Wait! Stop!" Xavier pleaded at Remy and Rogue's entwined forms right before he was engulfed by a raging torrent of flames. "NOOOOOOOOO!"

"Aaahhhhhh!" Xavier yelped bolting up in shock. He blinked and realized he was sitting up in bed drenched with sweat. "That's it. I have to stop watching all those outlandish video clips Magneto's subordinates keep sending me. They're ever better at altering and influencing one's mind than I am!"
