A/N I didn't know what to do so I wrote down this story. It's one of Hallmark movies so literally I don't own anything. Enjoy!

Elsa walked lightly with enthusiasm that morning towards the hospital where she worked. A new day always gave her new enthusiasm to help other people, because that was what she really liked to do, helping people.

That morning she wore a gray top with a matching blazer, black pants and flat shoes. She let her platinum blonde hair down and she felt very ready for the day.

She lived in a fancy apartment just a five minute walk from the hospital so she didn't really need a car. Her days only revolved around the hospital, the apartment, and going on dates with her boyfriend.

"How cute!" Elsa had to stop when she recognized someone with her baby on the sidewalk just a few meters from the hospital entrance. The baby looked very cute and she couldn't help but say hello. And also, not far from there, ther was a coffee booth where she often got a caffeine boost every morning.

"Good moring, dr. Arendelle!" The mother said in her baby voice, waving the baby's hand at Elsa and making Elsa take the baby's hand.

"Good morning, handsome!" Elsa kissed the baby's hand and then waved goodbye. The smell of coffee made her want to immediately drink one cup of her portion for the day.

It only took her a few steps to reach the coffee booth and she waved again when she saw one of her fellow doctor just getting his coffee.

"Good morning! Hi!" She greeted when she was already facing the man behind the counter.

"I need three iced lattes and a regular coffee." Said Elsa, ordering her coffee, smiling brightly. "Oh, and extra straws, please." She added, her smile widening.

"Right away, Doc!" The man answered enthusiastically and immediately prepared to make Elsa's order. But then something pricked his finger and made him gasp in pain.

"Ouch!" The man reflexively clenched his finger.

Elsa noticed that and grimaced in sympathy. "Put some ice on that, Stan. And Ibuprofen for the pain." She suggested, pointing at the man's hand.

"Thanks, Doc." He said gratefully.

"Yeah." Elsa nodded and smiled, and patiently waited until her order was ready.

And after all her orders were ready, she immediately rushed into the hospital and gave coffee to other people as she passed.

"Hi, Levon! Got you a fix... " She sang while handing a cup of latte when she passed one of the patients who was sitting in a wheelchair. She had done this several times with this patient, and the patient was very grateful for that.

"One more here... " She muttered looking at the two remaining coffees in her hands. But when she heard rapid footsteps behind her, which she knew exactly whose, she smiled and stopped in her tracks.

"Hi, Punzie. I did not forget about you." Elsa said, her attention remaining on her coffee because she knew that her colleague, Rapunzel would come to her before she even finished her sentence. She turned to the side and handed her friend a cup of coffee.

"Oww, thanks, Honey." Rapunzel accepted her coffee but was quickly distracted. "And can you help me with one more problem?"

"Sure." It was the default answer when someone asked her for help, she litteraly couldn't say no.

"Thank you." Rapunzel said, turning around and walking towards her problem with Elsa following close behind.

Rapunzel took Elsa to the nurse's station, to be precise at a table containing several flower pots located next to a window with an abundance of sunlight. She then pointed at a pot of orchids that looked sad.

"So... What's the prognosis?" Rapunzel asked, it was obvious that she really liked the orchid but there seemed to be something wrong with it.

"Oh... " Elsa's face fell at the sight of the slightly wilted orchid, and when she saw the window next to it, she could immediately tell the problem.

"Well, orchids need less sunlight, not more." Elsa said, then walked over and scooped the orchid pot with her free arm. "Here, I'll take care of it. And I'll give it back to you next week. Hans and I are going to that wedding this weekend."

Hearing that name, Rapunzel narrowed her eyes slightly. She never liked that man as Elsa's boyfriend. She thought that he was a bad news, but it seemed Elsa always managed to find an excuse when she advised her to end the relationship.

"Oh really?" She asked.

"Hm-m."

"So, how are things going with Hans?" Rapunzel asked half-heartedly, not really interested in the topic of Elsa's boyfriend.

On the contrary, the question made Elsa's eyes light up. "Well, last night at dinner, he asked for my social security number." She said it as if it was a very important thing that made their relationship move forward in the direction she hoped for.

"How... romantic..??" Rapunzel frowned trying to understand Elsa's answer.

"I think he wants to add me to his retirement account-"

"Or running a credit check?" Rapunzel cut Elsa off, trying to keep Elsa's hopes from getting too high.

"Either way, it's a froward motion." Elsa said shrugging, she knew her friend didn't really like her boyfriend, but she also still had quite a lot of faith in him.

"Still hasn't popped the question, huh?" Rapunzel tried to draw conclusions from what Elsa said.

"No, no... " Elsa took a deep breath. "But I've dropped a few hints. And you know, Hans... He can get really distracted when the stocks are down. So, I'm just praying for a bull market." She continued, sounding a little unsure of her own beliefs.

"Elsa." Rapunzel looked at Elsa seriously, because for her, Elsa was too naive in remaining loyal to Hans, which she thought was a waste of time. "You already missed your 'ring by spring' goal. And your little sister is getting married this weekend."

"Well, Australia's spring is in September." Elsa still took Rapunzel's concerns lightly, she was sure Hans would ask the question soon.

"But you're not living in Australia! And what's going to happen with Hans when you get that fellowship at Northwestern?"

"I don't have the fellowship yet, Punzie. And, you know, it's tricky with Hans because he loves Boston so much. I don't want to spook him."

"Sounds like he needs to be spooked to appreciate what he's got in you, Elsa."

"Don't worry. I have plans-"

"And... you've got a patient." Rapunzel looked at someone behind Elsa who was waving a bundle of medical records.

"Oh! Right." Wasting no time, Elsa immediately turned around and approached the nurse on duty. She walked towards the ward where the patient was while reading the medical record that the nurse was still holding.

"Hi, Sam! I hear you're making a miraculous recovery." Elsa greeted one of her patients in the ward before finally heading to the bed at the end to meet her new patient.

"Hello, I'm dr. Arendelle and you are-"

"Nervous." The patient said quickly. It was obvious that he was nervous. "Look, doctor, uh, before you give me the shot, I've got to tell you, I've got a phobia of needles. So, um..."

Elsa really understood and could tell by the patient's face that he was nervous. And this wasn't the only time she had a patient who didn't like injections, so she took the opportunity to divert the patient's attention by dropping the pot of orchids she had been holding onto the patient's lap.

"Mm-hmm. Can you do me a favor and just, uh... could you just hold this for me, and just be careful!" Elsa half screamed because when she put down the orchid pot, the patient was shocked and confused and almost dropped the pot. "Because it's really, you know, fragile." She added with smile, while putting her medical gloves on.

"But I was scarred when I was a kid, doc. Um, I had a shot, and... just messed me up." The patient was still babbling and continued to stare at the pot of orchids in his lap while Elsa took the opportunity to prepare the injection.

"Be careful or you will drop my beloved orchid!" Elsa said again when the patient looked up and that, made him look again at the orchid pot seriously.

"Okay, as I was saying, um, I'm a real..." He stopped babbling suddenly.

"Was that the shot?" The patient looked up in surprise and found the doctor's wide smile beside him. He didn't realize Elsa had given him the injection until he felt like his arm had been bitten by an insect.

"That wasn't bad at all." The patient studied his arm in wonder and amazement. He couldn't even find the injection mark. He looked at Elsa in awe, the doctor who took care of him was not only beautiful but also very good.

"Hm-m." Elsa waved the empty syringe and placed it on the medical cart beside her. "Rule number one, always keep the patient distracted. Good job."

Elsa took the orchid pot again and patted the patient on the shoulder as an appreciation that he had dared to get the injection before she finally left the ward to go to her office. As she walked out, the patient continued to look at Elsa and his arm alternately.

Elsa walked into her office with a little difficulty because she was still carrying the orchid pot while trying to get her cellphone that was ringing in her bag. And as soon as she entered, she immediately placed the orchid pot on the bookshelf behind her desk and was able to freely take out her cellphone in her bag.

She smiled as soon as she could see who was trying to reach her.

"Anna!" Said Elsa, putting the cellphone to her ear as she put her bag on the table and sat down in her chair. "How's the bride-to-be?"

"Good! I'm excited! I'm going to send you a link to the Commodore Club. It's amazing. It's right on the lake. There's a golf course and a spa, and everybody in the wedding party gets their own bungalow."

Elsa smiled at her little sister's enthusiastic chatter, oh, how she really missed home.

"Well, you've always lived large. Why would your wedding be any different? Anyway, I cannot wait. Hey, how are you holding up?"

"Oh... did I tell you that I'm rethinking the flowers?"

"Again? What is wrong with the Delphinium?"

"Well, I just... I realized that they're going to clash with the bridesmaids' dresses!"

Elsa sighed softly, her little sister was starting to think too much again.

"Okay, okay... remember the advice I gave you about your prom dress in high school?"

"Yeah?"

"Close your eyes... Shut out the world... Now imagine, what colour do you see coming down the aisle?"

"The pink bridesmaids' dresses... and pink does go with blue. So... yeah, I'm going to stick with the Delphinium. Oh, Elsie, what would I do without you?"

Elsa smiled in relief and then giggled. "Nothing, because I'll be there soon, and I cannot wait!"

"Does the same go for Hans?"

"Absolutely! We are having dinner tonight to go over all the travel plans."

"Yay!"

"Yay!"

And hours later, Elsa was finally able to push open the restaurant door in a hurry because she was already late. Such a busy day at the hospital that she was looking forward to getting something into her system. So busy that she couldn't leave time to eat.

And she was very relieved to immediately find Hans standing to greet her inside the restaurant.

"Hi. I'm sorry I'm late. I stopped by to get that charger that you asked for, and then I popped by home so that I could change, and..."

"You look sensational." Hans complimented the black sleeveless dress that Elsa was wearing, kissing her cheek lightly.

"Thank you. Let's get a table. I am starving." Elsa said, she was already feeling lightheaded and hoped that Hans had booked a table for the two of them.

But no, apparently Hans had another idea. "Oh, Hon', there's actually just someone I want you to meet first."

"Oh? But I've been juggling with the patients all day. I haven't had anything to eat." Elsa said, she could eat an elephant now.

There was a slight change in expression on Hans' face, but a wide smile quickly took over.

"Absolutely. What was I thinking? Holbrook can wait." Hans said, pointing to a certain direction in the restaurant.

Elsa let out a silent gasp, she knew who it was, and how important he was for Hans.

"Mr. Holbrook? Your new boss?" Elsa asked, her eyes following the direction Hans was pointing. And sure enough, there was someone watching them from afar and when their eyes met, the old man nodded and smiled slightly.

"Yeah, I just bumped into him here. I promised him you'd say hello." Hans said, his tone made Elsa hesitate to say no and he knew Elsa wouldn't say no.

"Oh, no, no, no, no. It's good. We should say hi."

"Right."

All this time, Elsa has always put other people before herself, especially those she cares about. And Hans is one of them.

And sure enough, the next second they were walking towards Mr. Holbrook's.

"Mr. Holbrook." Hans greeted his new boss and reached out for a handshake.

"Hans." The old man with almost perfectly white hair and glasses took Hans' hand and shook it.

"I'd like you to meet my girlfriend, dr. Elsa Arendelle." Hans presented Elsa beside him who was already preparing a big smile.

"Hi. It's nice to meet you." Elsa said, shaking hands with Mr. Holbrook.

"Nice to meet you too." Replied Mr. Holbrook kindly, secretly looked over Elsa from head to toe.

"She's on staff at Bayside General and still somehow manages to find time to head the fundraiser for Harborwalk." Hans explained proudly.

"Really?" The old man did not try to hide his admiration, while Elsa had to try to hide the blush on her cheeks now that his attention was fully on her. "That's very impressive."

"Oh, my life is easy. Hans works ten times harder than I do." Elsa waved her hand dismissively, she knew who should be the center of attention here so she tried to be modest.

"Well... Hans, if you pick your stocks the same way you pick your girlfriend, you've got a great future ahead of you." Mr. Holbrook finally looked back at Hans, he reached out his hand once again and said goodbye. "Have a nice dinner."

"See you, Mr. Holbrook." Hans took his boss' hand and smiled widely.

"Take care, Hans, dr. Arendelle." He nodded briefly and then left the couple.

Hans then guided Elsa to the table he had ordered, where a waiter was ready to hand over the menu. He accepted the menu and then sat down after he pulled out a chair for Elsa first.

"Thanks. You were perfect back there. Thanks for talking me up to Holbrook." Said Hans, who as soon as he sat down, he was distracted by the sound of the cellphone in his jacket pocket. He took out his cellphone but Elsa interrupted him.

"Oh, enough work-talk for one night?" Elsa said pleadingly, she wanted to be distracted from work problems for a moment.

Hans briefly read the message that had just come in and put his cellphone back in his pocket so that now all his attention was focused on Elsa. "Of course."

"Anna's wedding is finally going to give us a chance to relax. I already booked our flights. Um, day after tomorrow. I got us aisle seats. We have barbecues, golf... And I already booked us massages at the spa." Elsa babbled enthusiastically, her sister's wedding had been dominating her thoughts when she wasn't working lately.

"Right." Hans answered shortly, his enthusiasm not matching his girlfriend's. He even divided his attention by occasionally reading the menu.

"Oh, and guess what? Someone from the selection committee for the fellowship is going to be there. Turned out he's my Dad's friend!" Elsa added, getting more and more excited. She really wanted to be a surgeon so this fellowship was very important to her.

"That's great!" But not for him.

"Yeah. Yeah, I thought the wedding would be a great place to talk to him, and, you know, for us to scope out..."

"Chicago? Again?" Hans knew very well where this conversation would lead and he didn't like the idea of Chicago. At all.

"It's two hours from where I grew up. Plus, I could see my family more, and your firm has an office there. You could put in for that transfer." Said Elsa trying to argue. She really wanted her plan to go according to what she wanted.

"I know, I know. I just, I need to wrap my brain around this." Hans said quietly, his attention more on the menu now.

"Oh, come on." Elsa grabbed Hans' hand to get his attention back on her. "It's Chi-town! The Windy City! Wrigley Field!"

"I prefer Fenway Park."

"Agree to disagree."

"Okay." Hans finally couldn't hold himself back. "Elsa, what do you need Chicago for? You've got everything you need right here."

"But Northwestern is a leader in innovation. At Bayside, we have to fight over digital thermometers... And yes, there is a lot to love about this city, but..." Elsa let out a long sigh.

"Elsa, let's just get through this week before planning the rest of our lives, okay?" Hans said in a tone that left no room for further argument. And Elsa could only agree.

"Okay... but in the meantime, pack those golf shoes, 'cause we are going to have a blast." Elsa siad, finally reaching for the menu.

"Okay." He answered but only to make Elsa stop talking about Chicago.

"So Anna is three years younger than you?" Rapunzel asked when she and Elsa had just entered a coffee shop near the hospital after their shift ended.

"Yeah. But we're not just sisters, more like best friends. A very good best friends." Elsa answered. "It was always Anna's job to get in trouble, and it was my job to come in and fix it. And still is, sometimes."

"Oh really?"

"Yeah! Like, when Anna was learning to drive, and she hit a mailbox, I took the fall. When she, like, flooded the dorm with bubble bath, I was the one who found the mops. I would even go on double-dates with her and laugh at her jokes just so they didn't bomb." Elsa explained enthusiastically, remembering things like this always made her smile because of the fun times in the past.

"Thypical Elsa." Said Rapunzel, letting out a long sigh. She knew very well how Elsa always put other people's interests above her own.

"But, " Elsa stopped and then turned to look at Rapunzel so that now they were facing each other. "When I get to Chicago, I am going to relax and have fun." She added confidently.

"You? Relaxing? What does that look like?" Rapunzel asked skeptically, one eyebrow raised in disbelief. Elsa is the typical person who can't stop moving, she always has something to do.

"Very funny. I can relax...I can chill... Chill-ax? Cool my jets?" Elsa tried to reassure her friend that she could relax, but what she said sounded discordant even to her own ears.

"Well, when you get that fellowship..."

"If, I get that fellowship." Elsa cut in quickly. Dinner with Hans last night changed several things in her mind. "It is still a longshot. Plus... you know, I have a really nice life here."

"Is that you talking, or Hans?" Rapunzel asked suspiciously.

"Okay, you got me, but I'm telling you, after four days, in that warm wedding glow, at that amazing resort, Hans is going to fall in love with Chicago, he's going to propose to me, and practically insist that I take that fellowship!"

"So that's the plan?"

"Yeah."

"And if your plans don't go your way and he still chooses Boston over Chicago?"

Elsa couldn't answer, she could only press her lips into a thin line, not wanting to think about that possibility. She wanted to change the subject, so she turned around and straight away walked towards the counter to order coffee.

It was the next day when Elsa knocked on Hans' office door. She was super happy because she was going to Anna's wedding this afternoon and she had applied for leave so that in the morning she could go to Hans' office to surprise him.

"Knock-knock! I have our seats and our boarding passes for this afternoon~" Elsa sang the words happily, waving the plane ticket in front of her chest. She was in a very good mood because up to this point, everything was going according to her plan.

But on the contrary, Hans was not too excited to hear this. He stood up from his chair and walked over to Elsa with a look on his face that Elsa couldn't read.

"I am sorry, Elsa. There's been a hitch. Holbrook came down to my office, and he said he wants to talk about my future. This weekend... he invited me to go yachting." He explained, making Elsa's face fall suddenly. The euphoria she had just felt collapsed instantly.

"But Hans, we're going to Anna's wedding this weekend!" Elsa didn't understand how this could happen. She had been planning and talking about this since several weeks ago and now it all felt so far from reality.

"I know, Sweetie, but it's such a great opportunity."

"But we can't miss the wedding!" Said Elsa, raising her tone. "This is... this is terrible timing." She ran her fingers through her hair and let out a long sigh.

"What do you want me to do?"

"Well, come with me! To the wedding!" Elsa yelled. For once, she wanted Hans to think about her wishes too. "It will mean so much to Anna, and it's going to be a blast."

But it seemed like Hans was still in his stance. "I mean, it's going to be awkward telling Holbrook I'm going to back out."

"You already told Holbrook yes?!" Elsa whispered-yelled. She couldn't believe that Hans chose his boss over her family's events. This was very important to her and she couldn't understand how Hans could take it for granted.

"It was spur of the moment. I wasn't thinking." Hans said slowly, keeping pace with Elsa who was still struggling with her emotions.

"Oh... Wow..." Elsa turned around and walked back and forth organizing her thoughts. For a moment she wanted to be selfish and force Hans to follow her wishes, but in the end she tried to understand Hans' situation.

"Well, I mean, I guess you can't back out now. It just... this really changes my plans." Elsa stopped in front of Hans and once again ran her fingers through her hair.

"Your plans?" Hans was a bit interested in that. He took a step forward and it made Elsa realize what she had just said.

"Huh? Oh, uh, you know, just... celebrating... the wedding." Said Elsa, her face softened.

Hans smiled, "Sweetheart, I'll make it up to you." He leaned closer and gave Elsa a kiss. And just like that, Elsa gave up.

"Okay." She sighed softly. "Well, it's not going to be the same without you. Trust me." She tried one last time but Hans didn't budge.

And a few moments later Elsa was already in her room, packing. She had actually finished packing, and now she was ready to leave, only this time she was doing a last minute check. That's when she heard her phone ringing. Anna was video-calling her.

Elsa smiled and answered the call. As soon as she swiped her cellphone screen, Anna's smiling face filled the screen.

"Hey! What's up?"

"Hey, Els!" Anna frowned at Elsa's background. "Why aren't you at the airport?"

"Ah, in a few hours." Elsa checked the time on her cellphone. "Yes, I'm leaving soon."

"Where's Hans?"

"Um, well, actually, it's just going to be me for the wedding. Hans can't make it."

"What?"

"Yeah, he had a work situation come up."

"I can't believe it!"

Elsa could see Anna throwing her hands in the air in disbelief.

"Calm down, Anna..."

"You're the one who should be upset, Elsa! Not me!"

"Well, you know how busy Hans is, and this is just a..."

"Quit making excuses. I mean, not only is he missing my wedding, he's leaving you high and dry."

If Rapunzel thought Hans was a bad news, Anna actually thought he was the worst news. Elsa knew that, but she still tried to understand her boyfriend's situation. Although there was a strange feeling that Hans didn't really take her interests and wishes seriously.

"Nonsense. I will be fine. I am fine."

"Fine. What time does your flight land?"

"At three o'clock. I'm heading to the airport now, and... Oh, shoot." Elsa held her head as she remembered one important detail.

"What's wrong?"

"I just... I realized that the rental car's in Hans' name."

"Don't worry. I'll arrange someone to pick you up."

"Oh, no, you don't have to do that, truly."

Suddenly the screen froze and she couldn't hear anything from the end of the line.

"Hello, Anna? Anna, hello, are you there? I lost you." Elsa tapped the screen several times. But still nothing. "Anna?!"

"Uh, yep, still here. Think my WiFi's on the fritz."

[Anna's phone chimes]

"What? Not again..." Anna's face turned sullen after she read something in her cellphone.

"Are you okay? What happened?" Elsa asked, a bit worried.

"The wedding planner and I have been clashing over napkin rings. I've got to go, Honey. Get here soon, okay?"

"I am on my way."

"See you soon."

And with that, Elsa continued to get ready again and then immediately went to the airport.

to be continued...
