Pride before the fall.
Chapter 1
Rook and his siblings had gone back to school a short time later. His mother and father have been home for two weeks now from their honeymoon and things are just getting back into order.
At least, he thought so.
The start of the school week started off odd. There was an assembly of all the classes and it was explained that the principal and vice principal have been removed and replaced.
"Nanami didn't tell us this…" whispered Shin.
"I don't think he knew either, I can feel him raging from here" Rook replied.
He was grateful to have his parents back, however, he was more excited for Oji to be back to normal. He has been waiting months for him to teach the snapback method. It must have escaped Oji mind since he completely forgot about it! Yet, he did promise to do so. The last two weeks were spent training, though; Rook has yet to master the snapback. "I try not to break my word, brat, but be warned, this is going to be the hardest move you ever learned!"
He's been on pins and needles ever since wanting to get started!
But first, school.
Rook sat there, uninterested with the fact that they swapped out the principal and vice principal… that is until he sensed them. The aura they unleashed… curse energy that followed.
Now he was paying attention.
"Sorcerers?" he whispered.
Shin nodded. "Yeah, and they are eying me like a piece of meat" he said below his breath.
"What the hell brought this on?" whispered Hoshi.
"I think it's what happened at the track and field meeting… my dad showed up and revealed himself, remember?" asked Kiyoshi. "Not to mention, we humiliated all the schools whose top athletes were sorcerers. This maybe an attempted crushing before us… to remind the 'humans' where their place is."
"Yeah, that seems right" the group agreed.
They principal would be a man in his early thirties, tall, strong with a military hair cut. He was the one eying Shin the most. "First off, I want to say thank you for having me. I look forward to working with everyone here. I do have a few rules I wish to implement effective immediately. One, NO TATTOOS!" he shouted. "If I see one tattoo on a student's body, consider yourselves OUT of here! Second, I don't put up with anyone's excuses, I don't care who you are, who your family is. I AM THE LAW HERE!" he shouted. "Lastly… stay on my good side, and we don't have an issue. Get on my bad side, I will be like a curse to you! That is all"
They turned to see if the vice principal would say a few words, but they declined. The vice principal was shorter, in fact there was something off about this one…
"Hey, the vice principal…" he muttered but the assembly was dismissed.
As they walked out, Rook kept peering back and wondered. "You okay?" asked Mochi.
"The vice principal… they are hiding their true appearance." He said. "I can feel it, it's masked but… why?"
"Masked? I didn't sense a thing." Shin replied. "I do admit, I can't tell if they are a man or woman, those clothes…"
"Yeah, their hair is white too with red in the middle of it… weird." Hoshi said offhandedly.
"They are hiding their aura." Confirmed Nisha. "It's strong to begin with and yet…" she paused. "I think they are a reincarnated one…"
"We keep this hush, hush for now?" Rook asked.
They all agreed unless push comes to shove.
Yet as they wondered through the halls, there came a booming voice.
"ROOK GOJO!"
He paused and turned, the new principal was already picking his target. "Sir?" he asked politely.
The principal approached him, licking his lips, but, his sights kept shifting over to Shin. "I do believe that I have heard you are causing all shorts of problems around here… fighting the captains of our respective sports teams…"
"Old news, I did that one time. Now, I help with training…"
"Don't interrupt me!"
Rook shrugged and stood there as the principal claimed he was a bad egg and will make it his mission to ensure that Rook doesn't become the king of the school.
"Is there such a title?" he asked.
His siblings snorted a laugh. Kiyoshi snickered aloud as well as the Fushiguros merely smirked.
"Oh, a wise ass now are we?"
Rook smirked. "Well, my ass can count up to five, depending on what I eat… granted, I doubt one would want me to recite my numbers this way…"
PPPPPFffffff!
There was no stopping that laugh. Everyone lost it as Rook bore a rather cheeky grin. "QUIT LAUGHING!" the principal ordered.
Then, things got interesting.
Rook felt it.
In fact, this guy was making sure he felt it.
Killing intent.
"Now boy, I wouldn't be running my mouth like that to my elders. That would be a TERRIBLE mistake to make around someone like me…"
Rook smiled it off. "Oh no sir, I wouldn't DARE challenge someone of your strength at all! Nope, not in the cards…"
He could see how pissed off he was getting, this killing intent was enough to clear the halls all around, not a single student lingered but Rook and the family. Peering about and realizing this, Rook decided to take a shot. "Look, I get it, you got sent here probably against your will to keep an eye on us. By the way, you can stop with the killing intent. It won't work on us. I've stared down worst," he said bluntly.
The principal sneered. "What makes you think that a monkey like you knows anything!" he demanded. "You filth should know your place, it's bad enough that the other schools are now being investigated over what had happened at the track meet! How could the top athletes that have won every year… suddenly fall flat of expectations… Do you realize what you have done!" he demanded.
Rook smirked. "Yeah, showed them what REAL talent looks like. If they have to use jujutsu to beat a monkey like me, they are the ones who are lacking, don't you think?" he asked.
He principal was turning red. So red that veins were starting to come out of his head. Rook didn't have time to hear him yell, instead, he left when the bell toll. It was time for class anyways.
But he swore, under his breath, he heard the principal say. "Good, think I am targeting you… I got other prey in mind."
Rook doesn't tend to forget important words like that…
