A/N I wrote this years ago, but never got around to posting it. I hope you like it :)
The Winx and Specialists were on their way back from a mission. It was winter in Magix and it was snowing, so the girls had decided to ride with their boyfriends on their hover bikes, because it was too cold to fly. Of course Riven couldn't help but challenge Sky to a race. Musa loved riding with her boyfriend, but today she wore the wrong clothes for the weather and the speed made her even colder.
"Riven, slow down. I'm cold."
"No way. I'm not going to lose against Sky."
"Is this competition really more important to you than I'm?"
When Riven didn't answer and continued to drive fast, Musa knew his answer.
'I don't know why he is always like this. Maybe he doesn't care about me.' The music fairy thought sadly.
A few minutes later the Winx and Specialists arrived at Alfea.
"Seems like I won." Riven smirked, removing his helmet.
Sky didn't even get the chance to say something, because Musa spoke up first.
"It's cold, I'm going inside. Later, girls." She went in the direction of the entrance without even looking at Riven.
"What is your problem?" The magenta-haired Specialist shouted after his girlfriend.
"You're my problem, you insensitive jerk." Musa screamed. Trying hard not to cry, she ran to her room.
"Great work, dude. What did you do this time?" Brandon asked.
"I didn't do anything. Whatever, I don't care." Riven drove away from Alfea, looking angry.
"Well I think the girls and I will better check on Musa." Bloom looked at the group.
"Yeah and we should make sure that Riven doesn't go around shouting at people who have nothing to do with his problems." Nabu said.
"He always does that when he is angry." Helia sighed.
The girls said goodbye to their boyfriends and went inside to look for Musa. They found her lying on her bed listing to sad music.
"Oh sweetie what happened?" Flora asked concerned.
"Riven happened."
"Should I beat him up?" Layla balled her fists.
"I told you from the beginning that he is a jerk." Stella spoke up.
"It would be logical to let Musa explain what happened before saying this Stella."
"Tecna is right. Tell us what happened." Bloom sat down on Musa's bed with the others.
"You know it's nothing big, but sometimes I think he doesn't care about me." The music fairy said hesitantly.
"I'm sure that he does. Just remember how he got over his jealousy just for you." Flora reassured her friend.
"That's true, but you all have perfect relationships and Riven and I are always fighting."
"But it's okay to have a few fights in a relationship." Tecna argued.
"Yeah a few, but we're always fighting. Riven never shows me that he even likes me very much let alone loves me. He never holds my hand or kisses me goodbye in front of everyone."
"Brandon does that all the time." Stella smiled dreamily.
"It's not the right time for this, Stella." Bloom gave her friend a little nudge with her elbow.
"Sorry girls, but I need to be alone."
"Okay but if you need us, we're always here for you."
"And if I should beat him up, tell me." Layla added.
Musa nodded and tried to smile. When the girls had left the room she turned the music on again and hid her face in her pillow.
'All I want is for Riven to show me that he loves me.'
At the same time at Red Fountain, the Specialists came just in the right moment to see Riven holding a freshman by his collar.
"Stop it, Riven." Brandon reached him first.
"You could get detention for this." Timmy spoke up.
"Like I care about that. He pissed me off."
"Do you think that will solve your problems with Musa?" Sky said, pushing his angry friend away from the freshman, who ran away screaming.
"We don't have problems." Riven shouted.
"Well, she didn't even say goodbye to you and she called you a jerk, so logically there must be problems between you."
"What is going on between Musa and me is none of your business." The magenta-haired Specialist glared at Timmy.
"We only want to help." Helia said softly.
"I don't need your help. Leave me alone." Riven shouted and went to his room.
"I can't understand how Musa gets along with him." Brandon wondered out loud.
In his room Riven punched the wall angrily.
'Why are relationships so difficult?' Another punch to the wall.
'Why can't she just say what I did to upset her?' By now there was a huge dent in the wall and Riven was sure that his hand was broken, but he didn't care.
It took another five minutes and more punches to the wall until he calmed down a bit. Sitting down on his bed, he wrapped a bandage around his hand. Slowly he got an idea what he had done.
'Maybe I should have slowed down. She felt cold and all I cared about was winning against Sky.'
Riven wasn't someone who apologized easily, but with Musa it was different. Normally he didn't care and moved on, but with her he didn't know if he could be like this. She was special to him.
'I never cared so much for anyone. She is my girl and I love her, so I should apologize.'
After coming to this conclusion, Riven fell into an uneasy sleep. Tomorrow he had to talk to Musa and apologize.
The next morning Musa woke up with heartache, she could remember her fight with Riven all to well.
"Good morning, girls. Come on I want to see my Brandon." Stella shouted, waking the rest of the Winx, who had slept peacefully until now.
'I forgot that we had plans with the Specialists today. I can't go with them, not after what happened yesterday.' The music fairy thought sadly.
While the Winx got ready Musa made her decision.
"I'm not going with you."
"If it's because of Riven, I can make sure that he won't bother you." Layla smirked, cracking her knuckles.
"Thanks, but I don't want to see him at all. You can go and have fun and I'll do my homework."
"Whoa that would be the first time that you're doing your homework voluntarily." Tecna noted while looking at one of her statistics on her minicomputer.
"Are you sure that you don't want to come?" Flora asked gently.
"Yes, it's better this way. Don't worry about me."
"But if you change your mind you know where to find us." Bloom said.
The Winx left without Musa and arrived at Red Fountain just in time to see the Specialists training. Stella had wanted to come a little earlier than agreed so she could watch Brandon in action before they all went out for brunch.
"Brandon, you're awesome." Stella yelled from the gallery in the training hall.
The Specialists looked up to see their girlfriends cheering for them, but one girl was missing. Riven noticed immediately that Musa wasn't with the others and he couldn't deny that he was disappointed. Why wasn't his girl here to support him? Had he really hurt her so much that she didn't even want to see him?
After the training was over the girls greeted their boyfriends. The only one standing alone was Riven, who decided to do everything to win his music princess back.
"Ready to leave everyone?" Sky smiled at the group.
"I'm not going with you. I have something better to do." Riven announced.
The others understood him without asking more questions and wished him good luck with Musa, which made the magenta-haired Specialist roll his eyes at them. Why was everyone interested in his business? Without looking back he got on his hover bike and drove to a place where he knew his music fairy would be for sure.
Meanwhile Musa had given up on her homework because she couldn't concentrate. Seeing that it was hopeless to try finishing them, she left for her favorite place. She always flew there when she wanted to be alone and think things over.
A few minutes later she landed near a small lake in the forest and transformed back into her warmer clothes. Musa sat down on a tree trunk, that wasn't covered in snow and let her thoughts drift to the stubborn Specialist who hold her heart.
'He never says that he loves me, let alone shows me that he does. Maybe we aren't meant to be together.'
Her thoughts were interrupted by the very same man who she had been thinking about.
"I knew that I would find you here."
"What do you want, Riven?" The music fairy stood up, ready to leave when he would be a jerk again.
"I want to...Musa I...I..." It wasn't easy for him to speak about his feelings.
"Just leave me alone. I have enough from the heartache." With that she turned around to go back to Alfea, but a hand stopped her. Riven pulled her back and spun her into his arms.
"I'm not good at talking about my feelings. You know that, but I want to say sorry for yesterday. It was wrong of me to act the way I did."
The music fairy looked up to meet his eyes for her next words. It was a question that had been on her mind for a while, because he never outright said it.
"Do you love me?"
The magenta-haired Specialist flinched. It was one thing to admit to himself that he loved her, but saying it to her was something else entirely.
When he didn't answer, she pulled herself out of his arms and turned away.
"I knew it." Tears were falling from her eyes.
"No, you don't know anything." Riven clenched his fists.
"I know that you don't love me because you never say or show it." She faced him with a hurt look in her eyes.
"That isn't true. You're my girl and I love you." Riven shouted angrily.
It took them both a moment to realize what he had said.
"Do you really mean that?" Musa asked and stepped closer to Riven.
The Specialist wrapped an arm around her waist and wiped the remaining tears of her cheek with his thumb.
"Yes, I love you."
"Oh Riven."
The magenta-haired hero hold her close and kissed her passionately. When they pulled away he took her hands in his.
"I promise you that I'll be trying my best to show you how much you mean to me."
Musa smiled the beautiful smile that he loved seeing on her face and kissed him lovingly. From now on she could be sure that Riven loved her as much as she loved him.
