Chapter 6

The next morning, Merida woke early. She grabbed her bow and arrows and headed out. However, she was stopped by Stoick the vast.

"Merida, have you seen my son?" Stoick asked. He sounded worried.

"no." Merida lied. "I was just going to look for him." Stoick sighed.

"Just like him to run off at the worst possible time." Merida pushed past Stoick and hurried to the circle of stones. She found Hiccup staring at his reflection in the pond.

"Morning." She said, walking up next to Hiccup. "Want to get some food?" Hiccup nodded. "What do dragons eat?" she asked. Hiccup suddenly stuck his head into the pond and snapped at a small fish. "Oh! fish!" Merida said. "we'll go to the river. There's plenty of fish there."

She led Hiccup to the river and knocked an arrow. She aimed her bow, and let the arrow fly, straight into a fish. She grabbed the arrow and held it up, smiling. She tossed the fish to Hiccup, who swallowed it in one bite. He licked his lips and looked back at Merida, who already had another fish in her hand. Suddenly, the fish wriggled, and Merida fell backwards into the river. She pushed her wet hair out of her face and stood up. Hiccup let out a rumbling laugh. Merida smiled. Hiccup jumped into the river, snatching a fish and splashing more water onto Merida. She laughed, and Hiccup flapped his wings, suddenly, he jumped onto the riverbank, and looked in the direction of the house where his father was staying. Merida saw where he was looking.

"Do you want to go there?" she asked. Hiccup nodded. "we'll have to make sure no one sees you. There aren't supposed to be dragons in DunBroch." Hiccup nodded again, and they began to make their way towards the house. Luckily, Merida knew that Stoick was out hunting with her father, so he wouldn't be there. Once they reached the house, Hiccup managed to squeeze through the door. He was looking for his Viking helmet but got distracted by a book on the table.
