A/N:
Revali of the Rito, egotistical and proud as he is, is my favorite Champion, so his Chapter will be a bit longer as I have more to say about him. I would also like to apologize for not writing the entire story all at once and for such a long hiatus; life and other complicated things happened, but I have finally regained the energy/motivation/inspiration to write again.
Now, with that being said, enjoy this chapter!
I own nothing.
Master Revali's Despair
Revali soared through the skies of Hyrule, desperate to reach his Divine Beast, Vah Medoh, far in the northwestern reaches of the Hebra region. Far below, in Hyrule Field, waves of Malice-possessed monsters surged forward. Revali shut his eyes as he heard the terrified screams of Castle Town's residents clashing with the booming laser shots, focusing solely on making it to Vah Medoh. I've got to hurry! They're depending on us! An arrow whizzed by, narrowly missing his face. He stopped suddenly in mid-air, and nocked and shot an arrow at the assailant; a Lynel. He evaded another arrow as the Lynel roared in anger and kept firing. Revali could only artfully dodge the onslaught as he pressed forward. I MUST keep moving! He pushed on, resisting the temptation to help those down beneath him. Meanwhile, the sky grew darker as evening drew near.
Finally, just as the moon was rising in the sky, he recognized the hulking shape of Divine Beast Vah Medoh high above Rito Village. Revali made his way to the back of the colossal machine, but no sooner had he landed than a earsplitting shriek emanated from the main control hub behind him. Immediately put on the defensive, he drew his bow and aimed. A few seconds passed, then some...thing burst out; a horrifying amalgamation of a monster. The Scourge of Divine Beast Vah Medoh; Windblight Ganon, screeched and readied its own weapon; an arm with what looked like a laser cannon attached.
Revali stepped back and readied himself for a fight. Windblight shuddered, but when Revali peered at the monster in front of him, he noticed it wasn't shuddering out of fear, no, it seemed to be cackling, although there was no sound. Angered by this arrogant display, Revali loosed an arrow at the creature, but Windblight summoned a tornado that blew the arrow away. Then it summoned a flurry of tornadoes, and Revali took back to the air in desperate attempts to dodge them, all while trying to aim for its glowing eye. Determined to at least land any hit on the foul beast, Revali shot volley after volley of arrows, none of which really did anything except further enrage the Blight. Narrowing his eyes, he took a breath. He reached for his last arrow, drew back the bowstring, and fired. His arrow hit true! The Blight howled in pain as its eye flickered, but Revali's victory was short-lived. Now out of weapons, Revali gripped his bow in his talons and gritted his teeth. He had no choice but to only dodge and evade. Amid the chaos of the tornadoes and laser blasts, he managed to send out an S.O.S. call, but deep down he knew it was useless. No one would come to save him, not especially with how arrogant he'd been. He flew higher and higher, and managed to catch glimpses of the other Divine Beasts in their respective regions of Hyrule. Any glimmer of hope he might have had faded as he saw each Divine Beast fall; their once blue lights now glowing angry magenta, and heard their desolate cries in mourning of their Champions. Revali's heart sank; he knew he was next to die. One last chance! Revali narrowly avoided a laser hit and spied an arrow lying on the ground. There! He narrowed his eyes and dove, snatching the arrow and nocking it in his bow. I pray in the name of the Goddess Hylia, I must make this shot! In mid-air, he let the string go, and the arrow once again found its mark. The Blight let out another screech of fury. Now more enraged than before, Windblight unleashed more tornadoes, although this time there was the addition of... what were those? Missiles? Now out of options and running out of energy, Revali could only silently mourn the losses on the greater scale of the Calamity.
The skies were now fully dark, the moonlight made obscure by the clouds that swirled in front of it. Another grave weakness of Revali and the Rito in general; their night vision was so poor it was almost non-existent. This proved to be his downfall, as he could barely make out the demon he fought save for the faint glowing areas like its eye and the missiles it summoned. His wings were growing heavy, and he could feel his energy dwindling. A clumsy bank to the left ended in a blow to the chest by a laser beam, and Revali was almost knocked out of the air. He swooped down low, but his wound was burning, and the world seemed to be spinning. Too late, he righted himself only for a tornado to plow into him, stunning him. Disoriented and in pain, Revali cast one last glance at the destruction that was happening all around him. With great regret, his eyes filled with tears, and Revali let himself fall. Revali, the Rito Legend, had lost.
Link, I'm so sorry. I failed you... And he gave in to his injuries, plummeting toward the cold hard ground thousands of feet below. The Scourge of Divine Beast Vah Medoh Windblight Ganon locked on to its target; Revali's heart, and fired.
The moment Revali's heart stopped, Divine Beast Vah Medoh let out its own anguished cry, loud enough to be heard from all over Hyrule. The colossal machine designed for one purpose had lost its pilot, and was now unwillingly bound to serve the Calamity. It flew high above the Tabantha Region, now aimless in its direction. None of the Rito dared fly now, as Vah Medoh now had cannons that would shoot them out of the sky if they got too close. All they could hope for was that the Calamity would soon cease.
Sometime after the Calamity had been defeated and sealed away, the Rito had launched a search party in the hopes of finding Master Revali or any sort of trace of him. Three days of searching yielded nothing. Then a call went up on the fourth day; they'd found the Great Eagle Bow lying in the snow, but its owner was nowhere to be found. Divine Beast Vah Medoh still flew overhead, its cries deep and hollow, reverberating over Rito Village. The Rito held a funeral for their Champion, and placed the Great Eagle Bow into the care of the Village Elder, Kaneli. Such was Revali's legacy.

And there you have it. Only took me several months and a lot of tears to write this one. It's been a weird time in my life, but here, at long last, I have returned. I appreciate your patience very much, and would like to thank y'all for not giving up on me. Any reviews and comments are welcome, constructive criticism is always appreciated as well.
