Chapter 10
Merida and Hiccup snuck into the castle late at night and were able to reach the tapestry without a problem.
"We just need a needle and thread." Merida said. She began looking, and quickly found some. Suddenly, she heard Stoick and Fergus laughing. Hiccup quickly looked around. Fergus opened the door, seeing Merida hurriedly tugging the tapestry off the wall. Stoick, next to him, spotted Hiccup, and pulled out his axe.
"Merida! Get back!" Fergus yelled. He drew his sword. Merida could see the fear in Hiccup's eyes as the two men advanced on him.
"it's not what you think!" Merida yelled. Hiccup roared as Stoick swung his axe. "No! don't hurt him!" Hiccup, not realizing the cramped space he was in, slammed Fergus into the wall, and ran out the door. Fergus got up and Merida ran to him.
"Dad, it's not what you think!" but Fergus interrupted her.
"Oh, my stars! Lass, it almost had you. Are you hurt?"
"it's Stoick's son! It's Hiccup!"
"you're talking nonsense!"
"it's the truth! There was a witch, and she gave me a spell. And Mor'du. The bear that took your leg wasn't Mor'du. Mor'du is a dragon!"
"If Mor'du is a dragon, then that was Mor'du!"
"No! He's not dangerous!"
"Mor'du or not, I will avenge my son." Stoick cut in.
"No!" Merida yelled. Suddenly, Fergus and Stoick were leaving. Fergus locked the door and left. He tossed the key to his servant, Maddie.
"Keep this and don't let her out!"
Meanwhile, Hiccup was running through the castle, dodging arrows and weapons being thrown at him. He ducked under the closing gate and kept running. Merida desperately tried to get out of the room, but it was no use. Fergus and Stoick rallied hunters and began to chase down Hiccup.
Merida's brothers walked up the door. She smiled.
"Get the key." They nodded.
