Authors Notes
Hello everyone. You can call me Cassiun, or Cass for short, and this is my first time ever posting a fanfic that I've written. I'll ask that if you have any constructive criticism to please post it in the comments. Moving forward, allow me to mention some important things about this FNAF fanfiction.
First off, this fanfic was inspired by "ParticularlyLargeRat"'s Michael Afton: Outlived Purpose. This story happens within the same universe as his fanfiction with Michael Aftons little brother, Evan. This story won't, however, be affecting ParticularlyLargeRat's story. On top of that, there might end up being bits and pieces of lore that do not exactly match from story to story, but I highly suggest checking out his story.
Secondly, there won't be any smut in this fanfiction, but I have planned to put relationships in.
Lastly, I'm up to suggestions as I go along, I'm not willing to change something about the story to fit a single person's needs.
With all that being said, I hope you enjoy my first, albeit small, chapter.

Crying rn after realizing how horrible this chapter was. Not even a paragraph in and I already messed up. Oh well, hopefully it'll look a lot better after these touch ups.
A Foreboding Sight
"Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, Fazbear Entertainment would like you to put your hands together for the one, the only, Freddy Fazbear!" A misty and neon lit stage appears showing the glowing figures of the Glamrock animatronics. As the theme song played, the crew of animatronics made their way down the stage. As they come down the stage, they grab their instruments of choice and begin rocking out, but fades into the background as a voice breaks through. "Here at the Pizzaplex, we have the best Pizza," Glamrock Chica is seen scarfing down a slice gooey, stringy pizza, "exciting games," Monty shoots Glamrock Freddy in the chest with a blaster, causing both of them to laugh in enjoyment, "brand new prizes'' Roxanne is seen giving a large plush of herself to a child and patting him endearingly upon their head, "and, most importantly, a crew who'll rock your world!" The scene comes back to the Glamrock animatronics posing while they jam out. "Come down to Freddy Fazbear's Pizzaplex where YOU can be a superstar too-"
The advertisement cuts off short as someone sighs nearby while the TV turns to black reflecting the figure of a man slumped on the couch. The figure sat up a bit while reaching towards the coffee table in front of him, revealing a handsome dark haired man named Evan Afton in the light seeping in from the doorway next to the couch. The man drops the remote onto the table and sinks back into the couch.
"Even in death, your corny ass commercials still prevail…" Evan lamented with a slightly frustrated and sorrowful gaze towards the now blank TV. Perhaps he should've been happy that Freddy's was now owned by a new head and unplagued by his father, but something didn't sit right with the man. He's seen a few incarnations of Freddy's and the current batch of animatronics seemed to be built with good intentions, anything backed by Fazbear Entertainment had a dark past, even without William being behind it all. Perhaps if the man was another normal bystander he could've been ignorant of it like everyone else in the town seemed to be, but he wasn't a bystander and he certainly wasn't normal.
Evan eventually shook his head, sighing as he discarded his previous thoughts. He had no proof for now and no surefire way to check everything out. He hoped that in the time between now and whenever he was able to investigate inside that there wouldn't be any new victims. What a fruitless dream… thought the man before something caught his attention suddenly.
Sounds interrupted Evan from his train of thought, bringing him back to reality. Happy noises of someone in the kitchen, the next room over, humming a tune and moving dishware around. It was a polar opposite mood to the forsaken feeling in the living room, the room he had currently been in. A fragrant smell of something sweet and fruity permeated from the busy kitchen, enticing him out of his sour mood, as well as off the couch, and swiftly into the next room.
A black and white striped clown-like figure was holding a metallic bowl and whisk, mixing an assortment of things together. It had its back turned towards him but, even then, he could even tell that curvy figure had been the source of the noise. If this had been a horror movie like the ones Evan watched at night, this would've been a telltale sign to drop everything and run straight out the house and probably skip town, too. Fortunately, this was a usual sight for Evan who reached past the humming figure towards a cookie that looked fresh out of the oven only to get his hand smacked with the whisk, dabbing it with icing.
"Now, mister, I don't believe I've said those cookies are ready." Said a cheery female voice. It turned around to reveal a porcelain mask with a smile on it that looked quite life-like.
"But Chara, you know that I like them when they're fresh out of the oven."
"No can do! I still haven't put the finishing touches on this batch." She turned around to face Evan. Chara had to be at least a foot taller than Evan, who had been at an average male height, and had a porcelain mask as her face which portrayed more emotion than any normal mask could. Her eyes wear black holes and below them are purple streaks of paint. Her cheeks had been red circles, working as physical representation of her dimples. Around her neck was a slim, purple apron with a black cat with a witch hat on it. She sets the bowl down behind her and huffs a bit, but smiling nevertheless. The puppet had been living with Evan over the years, making his once very lonely living space a bright and warm home and filling his heart with love. They'd been quite close and enjoyed each other's presence. She looked at his puppy dog eyes.
"Fine, just one." Chara's slender black 'hands' picked up a cookie and placed it into the eager man's hands, who graciously accepted it. "Y'know, I'm sure Mangle would love to have one, too. Could you get her for me while I finish up?." The man gingerly put the steaming hot cookie into his mouth with a thumbs up, moving towards the hallway.
Evans' mind wandered to another occupant of the house, Mangle. While Mangle did live in the house with the man and the puppet, she had spent a lot of her time either hanging out with both of them or by herself in her room. The pink fox made it a point to keep herself busy with something in the house creating projects like creating cute accessories for herself. Evan stopped at a pretty pink door with a sign that said, "Mangle" on it. He knocked on the door, receiving a short "Come in~!" and promptly opened her door.
Mangle's room was of the likeness of a 16 year old girl who was obsessed with the color pink. Pink walls, pink carpet, pink furniture. A bit too pink in Evans' opinion, but if she was happy then it wasn't any of his concern. In the corner of the room, Mangle could be seen laying down on her bed with her hand on a mouse with a laptop in front of her. She peered over to the man and smiled. Mangle is a foxy-like humanoid animatronic with lots of pink fur covering her. On her head, a pretty pink bow is shown and her fuzzy tail wags behind her, showing her obvious excitement. Her body had been seamless in the same way Chara's was to the point that she'd easily be mistaken as an anthropomorphic fox.
"Evan! Come take a look at this!" She motioned for him to get closer, positioning the laptop to face towards him. Evan moved over and peered at the laptop. On the screen was a section about Rockstar Chica, who had been plastered all over this fan article about her. Words like "pretty" and "pink" and "exercise" popped out to him as he glanced through the page.
"Isn't she gorgeous?! She's so pink and mature and I just absolutely love how she promotes eating what you want while staying fit and looking good while doing it and she's absolutely everything any woman or girl could look up to, Iwouldlovetomeether-" Mangle was obviously very excited about things that fit her tastes to a point that she became like this. Evan put a hand on her shoulder, hand sinking in her short, soft fur.
"I'm glad you found someone you like. Is that why you have that bow on your head?" Mangle perks up even more and shows off her bow that sorta had the same style as one of the web page her laptop was opened to.
"Yes! I want to be beautiful just like her! Do you like it?" The man jokingly looked at her weirdly.
"You've always been this cute, Mangle." Mangle pouted as the man teased her.
"You know that's not what I meant!" Whined the pink fox. "I meant about my bow!" Evan smiled even wider.
"Yes yes, you really pull that bow off, Mangle. You're the real superstar here." Mangle pouted even more, making Evan laugh and pat her back. "Okay okay. I think you're beautiful and the bow is an extra nice touch."
"That's better." Mangle said, still pouting a bit. The man smiled as he remembered why he came in here in the first place.
"Hey, Chara had just made a batch of cookies. Wanna go get some?" Mangle looked excited then suddenly disheartened, ears drooping down the sides of her head in worry.
"But… what if I get fat?" She looked up at Evan in worry. This almost made the man snort in laughter, but held it in for the innocent foxes sake.
"Don't worry, doesn't your new role model do something to keep herself looking great?" Mangles' ears suddenly perk back up and she regains her smile.
"Yeah! I could just work out! Great!" The female fox suddenly picks herself off the bed and runs to the door before turning back to Evan, teasing him before running off. "If you don't hurry, then I'll eat your cookies, too!" The man chuckled and let her run off towards the kitchen and his face became a bit more somber as he looked back at the picture of Glamrock Chica.
Evan had spent over 10 years with these two animatronic girls. They both had been just like family to him and he loved them more than life itself. So with the possibility of a new threat presenting itself just right around the corner, he knew there was something that needed to be done. A lot of things had been uncertain about the place they're called 'Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex' except that it was owned and operated under new management and that the animatronics had been 'new'.
Frankly, it could've been a ploy to reuse older haunted animatronics, but which ones Evan was unsure of. With the lack of info and a heavy heart, the man felt a bit helpless at that moment. There was a good chance that the place could've been some trap for animatronics just like the last one and, if that was the case, Evan knew that he'd have to be on his guard. The man remembered how awful the feeling was when he nearly lost Chara when she snuck her way into the last new pizzeria, which nearly killed her.

A newspaper had been laid down in the passenger seat of a moving car, showing an ad for creating your own restaurant. The Fazbear Entertainment logo was finely printed at the top, showing their obvious involvement. If that wasn't sketchy enough, the details under the advertisement sold the cake, making everything about this possible ploy smell fishy. Evan had his hands on the steering wheel, looking out at the wet roads as rain poured out as if the sky was crying. Even with how dangerous these torrential rains were, he had a feeling he would find exactly what he was looking for where he was going. As the man got closer, he saw the building in mind still burning, ever so slightly, and fretted that he was too late. Nevertheless, he braced himself for the worst.
Evan pulled up towards the freshly charred remains of the Pizzeria his brother, Michael Afton, had made to trap their father along with all his past mistakes. Michael had wanted to finish what his father started and perhaps end his own suffering, but it was unsure. After reading the notes in the Fazbear Entertainment systems, he knew that his brother, who he had thought he lost, had shown up again with a goal in mind. What Evan did know, however, was that there was someone here that was trapped inside somewhere, someone who disappeared from his life without a word a week ago and he knew that if there was any chance of anyone being alive, it had to be them. Evan set to work quickly, knowing very well he didn't have much time before the authorities made their way there. While digging through the soot and ash, something caught his eye. Something black and shiny had stood out and gave the man hope. As he trudged over to the spot, he recognized what he saw as the burnt hand of a black Freddy, endoskeleton exposed due to the burning on the fabric along with melted plastic shining in the light created by the bits of fire and embers nearby. Lefty, the man thought to himself, recognizing the blueprints from the system. Suddenly, Evans' mood heightened as he had found what he was looking for. He started digging out the black bear until most of it had been revealed.
He had seen this bear's schematics before, but had no idea where the bear had been. The whole reason for this bear was to… his thoughts were interrupted by the release of the mechanics in the bear from the abuse of overheating, opening up the suit and revealing a slightly charred puppet figure inside, unmoving. 'The reason this was made was to trap the puppet' he thought to himself as he gingerly touched the puppet. A shock came through him, racking his entire body in pain. His vision went purple and he felt that he lost himself and cried out but as soon as the pain came, it left. He cautiously touched the puppet again, but didn't receive a shock this time. 'Perhaps something internal is failing from the fire' he thought in panic and grabbed the puppet. Lefty, who barely had been holding together in the first place, collapsed in on itself becoming a heaping pile of scrap of metal. Without a second thought, Evan hurried back to his car and set off with Chara wrapped up in his jacket, hoping everything would turn out okay.
Sirens could be heard from afar and he knew he didn't have much time as they started moving out of the scene, but motion from the rubble had caught his eye. A purple, seizing mass of flesh pulled itself out of the remains of the Pizzeria, quickly making its way to the surface. As Evans' eyes landed on it, his vision started to become a violent shade of purple and he looked away in fear of crashing, realizing that he was crying. What is that?! The man's mind raced and froze, unable to think of an answer. It had escaped the death trap, though he hesitated to say it was alive. Whatever it was, it made him stop in his tracks. He thought of going back, but a groan from inside the car brought him back to reality. Behind him, Chara had been charred and covered with soot. It seemed that she was still alive, but barely. He steeled himself, forgetting briefly about what he saw back there and raced home.
"I'll put you back together again. I promise."

Evan was dragged out of his thoughts by a knock on the door while Chara was leaning against the door frame, looking at him in worry.
"The cookies will get cold if you wait any longer." Evan rubbed his face, trying to get the memory of her broken mask out of his mind. He seemed to have been standing there for a considerable amount of time, lost in a flashback.
"Yeah, I'm coming. I was just lost in thought."
"About what?" She asked with a knowing look.
"About when I found you in that building after it burnt down. I… Chara, there's a new Fazbear's opened and I'm worried that bad things will happen again…" Her face couldn't hide the shock from the news. She looked towards the laptop that Evan had been previously looking at and stared at it for a minute. He spoke up eventually.
"It will be fine. I won't let anything happen to us again." A black hand touches him on his shoulder. A smile appeared on Chara's face.
"I know you will, but please don't do things on your own, you aren't alone anymore." He smiled back at her. He knew very well that the puppet was a very reliable partner to have and it comforted him knowing very well that she was with him.
"We can both go check it out at some point." Evan scoffed at the suggestion.
"We'd need kids in order to enter. Perhaps I should embrace my bloodline and steal a few." Evan said jokingly, making the puppet giggle a bit.
"I could always shrink myself and you could act like my father." Chara teased, getting a laugh out of the man. "Or, better yet, we could dress up Mangle and send her in there as a child."
"That would at least have a better rate of success than your original idea." Joked Evan before a silence grew between them. Chara hugged the man softly.
"We'll figure it out, Evan. For now, let's just focus on today." Evan smiled and hugged her back.
"Well, we can save the scheming for another day but for now, it's time for those cookies." She started guiding him out of Mangles' room and towards the kitchen. The three of them sat at the table making small talk while grabbing at the large plate of cookies that sat in the middle of the table. Everything had been alright until both Mangle and Chara were locked into a discussion over something he couldn't keep track of, sending him into his thoughts.
He couldn't help but let his mind wander to his brother. Something in him couldn't believe that the same brother who tortured him while was younger before eventually killing him had been the same guy who sacrificed himself to finish off their father. There was nothing that said someone couldn't change, but he had a weird feeling he would eventually find out. The feeling itself had been unbelievable to begin with, but the follow-up thought was even harder to swallow. Michael could still be alive.
While Evan witnessed first hand that the fire was potentially survivable, he didn't think that his brother could survive being burnt down in a building. Except, something nagged at him. Something in the back of his mind made him think otherwise. Something made him feel that he'd soon have something to do with the brother who drove him to an early grave and that thought scared him beyond belief.

As the day drew to an end, he made himself comfortable in bed while Chara had been opening her box at the foot of the bed. Normally they shared the bed together, but the puppet wanted her space tonight. It hadn't been uncommon and Evan always respected her wishes. Though, he enjoyed being able to snuggle up to his partner and wouldn't mind if she changed her mind.
"I know it's unbearable to not have me right next to you, but I have a sudden urge to sleep in my box tonight." Teased Chara, making Evan roll his eyes.
"I'll be fine. Having you here next to me is assuring in its own right." The puppet nodded, rubbing her eyes sleepily.
"Just yell if you need me." The puppet said through a yawn, stretching her arms out.
He looked at her and nodded, looking at the time. "Alright. If you need me, wake me up. I've got clients in the morning and they seem to have stacked up over the weekend." She nodded at him before waving goodnight and disappearing into her box, flaps closing behind her.
As Evans laid his back on the bed and tucked himself in, he couldn't help but think back to the Pizzaplex. Perhaps my dream will happen sooner than expected. Evan dreamed that there would be a place for children to safely stay and be entertained finally, but the man shook his head at this thought. No, who am I kidding? Nothing good comes from Fazbear Entertainment's involvement. His mind finally settled into a deep sleep with the thought of Chara and Mangle and the others who he simply couldn't leave behind.
Perhaps it had been a long day and perhaps Evan had been overthinking things a lot. The place was under a new management after all and the new animatronics didn't even remotely seem to be built for horrible things like some of the other ones had been in the past. Perhaps the smiles and the laughs in that TV ad had been genuine. Maybe this was something the man could live with.
I suppose not everything they touched was so bad after all. Thought Evan as he drifted off to a deep sleep. No dreams would happen that night, but something else certainly would.
Authors Notes
A lot more shall be explained as chapters get released, but I can post additive comments to these notes if need be.
I hope you enjoyed the chapter and I'll hopefully see you back for the next one!
*Updated*
I enjoyed rewriting this chapter and putting some extra interactions in. God I hope the rest of these chapters aren't nearly as bad as this one was.
