The sounds of overlapping chatter filled Emera's ears as he began to stir. "Wait, I think he's waking up," Tails said. He slowly opened his eyes to see that he was in his room in his bed with the others gathered around him. "What's going on?" he mumbled as he sat up with a yawn. "After our last battle ended, you just collapsed," Amy explained.

Emera paused, then he remembered what he had seen in the sky. "The sun," he simply said. Everyone looked confused until Emera spoke up. "Wait! The spell that trades conscious minds. It's Sunset! Night will start in a few hours!" Realization hit the others: sunrise to sunset, sunset to sunrise...

"That means we'll get to see Sonic again!" Amy exclaimed with sparkly eyes. "Wait! What will actually happen?" Tails wondered. "Let me check," Speck responded.

He was looking in a book titled 'Everything Magic Spells Can Do' at a bookmarked page. He began to read. "The spell of Shared Consciousness is quite handy for when two bodies fuse together. Not to mention it prevents both individuals from insanity, body exhaustion, and mutation. Hang on, yada yada yada... Okay! When individual 1 goes to sleep, the body changes into the form of individual 2." He closed the book. "When Emera goes to sleep, Sonic will wake up, and their body will change into his form."

"Ummm, what do you mean?" Ruby asked with a confused face. "I don't get it either," Knuckles said with just as much confusion as Ruby. Speck gave an exasperated sigh and then fell to the ground.

Good Night, Emera. Chilidogs for Sonic!

A while later, everyone left Emera's room so she could get some sleep. But he was thinking about what had happened when he and Sonic had merged. While it had saved him from becoming Lilia's slave and turning into a monster, it had also created their current predicament. He snapped out of his thoughts as he heard a light knock at the door. "Come in," he said.

Tails came through the open door and closed it. He walked over to Emera's bed. "What are you doing here?" he asked the visitor. "I told the others that I wanted to meet with you alone," Tails answered. "I could've guessed that. I can see some of Sonic's memories, including a few that show how close you two are. It's also how I knew not to trust Lilia," Emera commented. "I'm trying not to be invasive, but our minds are connected and his memories just show up in mine..." Emera gave a frustrated groan as he threw his hands onto his head.

Tails sat on the bed and gave Emera a pat on the head. "We're all confused about everything that's happening," Tails comforted. "Don't try to think so hard about it. We're all in this together. Emera calmed down and smiled. "Hey Tails, can you stay with me until I go to sleep?" Emera asked. "I think Sonic would like to see a familiar face when he wakes up. Besides, I do feel a bit sleepy..." Tails gave him a silent nod.

Meanwhile, the others were discussing upcoming events, including nights in Jewel Land. Knuckles is trying to grasp what he just heard. "Hold on! Hold on! Just... hold on," he said as he held his hand up. "I get that night and day both last a week, but while day has one sun, night has Three moons!?"

Ruby, being an expert in moons, explained everything. "There are three moons, but only two usually show up. The big moon reflects the light of the sun onto Jewel Land while the little moon creates the Jewel Stars. Megumina, one of Jewelina's little sisters, actually lives there because she can create Jewel Stars." "I didn't know Lady Jewelina had another sister," Garnet commented. The Mobians looked at her with shock. "Oh yeah, you guys don't know much about Lady Jewelina's family. But more importantly, HOW IS IT YOU KNOW THAT LADY JEWELINA HAS ANOTHER SISTER!?!" Garnet's sudden outburst practically summoned Dian as he pulled her ear. "Use your inside voice, Emera has to sleep soon."

"Why do I know?" Ruby commented, oblivious to Dian. "I lived on the third moon for a year." Everyone looked at her in shock. "The third moon, or Red Moon as we call him, only appears once a year during the Jewel Eclipse when day and night are one. I wanted to talk to the moon so I borrowed a magic broom and flew to him. He was actually quite chatty, but he left out how he disappears into another dimension when the eclipse was over."

"We remember how you suddenly disappeared for a whole year only to return on the next Jewel Eclipse," Granite confirmed. Ruby creates a thought bubble, showing her back in Jewel Land waving goodbye with a white handkerchief while the red moon appeared to be crying. "It was tough to leave him, but we both know that we can talk again every eclipse, as long as I stay in Jewel Land," Ruby stated. Everyone stood in silence until Amy spoke up.

"Listen, Sonic is going to wake up soon, so we should do something special for him," she suggested. Everyone realized that they had gotten off topic. "Good idea," Cream agreed. "But what can we do?" Charotte asked. "I know! Let's make chili dogs," Amy suggested. "That's a great idea! Mr. Sonic loves chili dogs!" Cream agreed excitedly. "But we don't have any chili dogs, and the nearest place that sells them is the food carts in my hometown, Deco City." Opal stated. "Don't worry, I happen to know how to make them!" Amy stated. The group then began to discuss a plan on how to make the chili dogs.

Unfortunately, they weren't the only ones who knew about Emera's situation. Sunset at the Jewel Palace just wasn't the same with evil parasite rose vines surrounding the palace and tiny black rifts floating around like clouds and moving like snakes. But that's not important now... The Hooligans and Trip learned of Emera's condition from Lilia.

"Can you explain it all again?" Bean asked with confusion. Bark rolled his eyes. "Emera by Day; Sonic by Night," he simply stated. Bean still looked confused, but he got the idea... sort of. Lilia looked annoyed before she composed herself. "We have a golden opportunity here." She said as she began her orders. "Emera's vulnerable now! We have until he goes to sleep when that meddling brat reawakens! Hurry and grab him!" "We just finished our showers, so we are ready now!" Bean declared.

The Hooligans began to leave; Trip was about to join them. "Not you, Trip," Lilia ordered. "I need you to fetch my crystal ball so I can check on my other minions. I've been neglecting them lately, so I figure I should give them some attention." Trip sadly slumped.

A stork dressed in a delivery outfit was flying towards Jewel Manor. In his beak, he carried a white bag with a red symbol on it. (The symbol is of an apple, a jam jar, and a celery stalk) He flew over to the kitchen's window and tapped it. Amy opened the window, and he dropped the bag in her arms. "Here's your order from Nummy Foods," he stated as he then extended his wing. "How about a tip?" Ruby hopped up and dropped a tiny orange gem in his wing. He looked at the small gem and placed it in his vest pocket. "Thanks for using Aviary Delivery Services!" he called out as he flew away.

Amy closed the window and placed the bag on the counter, opening it up. The contents were the ingredients for chili dogs. (The amount of which would be 64...) "Ready to begin?" Amy asked as she put on a frilly pink apron. The small group gave a cheer in response. The group consisted of Chef Flora, Garnet, Ruby, Opal, Diana, and Cream. "Then here we go!"

Emera changes into Sonic. He gives his signature finger shake.

Amy looked at some of the chili dogs the group made. Cream and Chef Flora made some beautiful chili dogs, but the others were... well... Amy looked flabbergasted at their work with her eye twitching. "Maybe I added too much whipped cream..." Ruby muttered. "Wha... what?" Amy stuttered. "These aren't chili dogs!" Chef Flora yelled. "Chili dogs are not 'chilly' and not a frozen dessert!" The other Jewelpets looked embarrassed. Amy calmed down. "Thanks for saying that for me," she thanked Chef Flora. "Let me show you how to make chili dogs." The other Jewelpets watched as she cooked the hot dog on the stove then used a pair of tongs to place it in the bun; Chef Flora then seasoned it with chili sauce and the right seasonings. They clapped as she held up the finished product. "Now let's try again," she said.

Meanwhile, the Hooligans were hiding in the hedge bushes by the manor. Fang looked around with binoculars. He saw Knuckles and Lapis holding a training class by the back entrance. "Can't get in that way," he mumbled. He looked up and saw Rin looking around from her sentry station. "That nosy parakeet won't see us today." He looked elsewhere and saw Tails open a window. He also saw the sleepy Emera inside said room. "There he is. We just need to sneak into that room and subdue that fox." "Which room is it?" Bark asked. "Ground floor by the peach tree," Fang responded. "Let's go, but be quiet." "Oooh, stealth mode," Bean stated before Bark closed his beak. "Shh!" Bark shushed. He let's go and the Hooligans began to sneak over to the window.

In Emera's room, the pair looked outside at the sunset. "Thanks for opening the window, Tails," Emera said, yawning as she lay down. "The sunset looks so much clearer now." "I'm glad I could help," Tails responded. "You really helped us out too!" The pair gasped at the sound of Bean's voice. The Hooligans jumped through the window and Bark grabbed Tails. "Let him go!" Emera demanded as she sat up. Before Tails could call for help, Bark put his hand over the fox's mouth.

"Come along quietly and we'll let him go," Fang snickered. Emera looked flustered. He wanted to help Tails, but he didn't want to go with them. Suddenly, the sun disappeared from the horizon as the sky turned purple. Emera suddenly looked really tired. Tails gave a strong kick in Bark's stomach; the bear released him as Bark held his stomach in pain. Tails hurried over to Emera. "See you in the morning..." Emera whispered as he smiled and fell asleep.

His body shone a bright white light as the others shielded their eyes with their arms, except for Bean, who looked in amazement. When the glow disappeared, Tails looked at the bed and wore a happy face, while the Hooligans wore terrified faces. In place of Emera was Sonic!

"Sonic!" Tails exclaimed. Sonic got up and stretched his arms. He looked at the kit with a happy face. "Glad to see you, little buddy," he said. He then looked at the Hooligans with an angry face. "But something tells me they were trying to threaten you and Emera!" "Shall we report to Jewelilia?" Bean meekly suggested. "That's a good idea!" Bark agreed as they rushed out the window and ran off. Sonic suddenly looked confused. "Since when can bears talk?" Sonic asked. Tails gave a laugh. "Don't worry. We'll fill you in," Tails said. "But first, there's something we need to do."

In the dining room, everyone but a certain pair was in the dining room. There were all sorts of snacks and a punch bowl. Amy and Cream set out the plates holding many chili dogs. "I'm glad we all made these delicious chili dogs together," Cream cheered. Amy gave a happy nod. Everyone turned towards the door as it opened. The certain pair entered the room.

"SONIC!" Amy exclaimed as she ran over and squeezed the hedgehog tightly. "Amy, you're squishing me!" Sonic tried to say. Amy realized how squished he was and let go. "Sorry, I just really missed you," Amy apologized. Cream ran over and gave him a small hug. "We all missed you," she said. "Even Knucklehead?" Sonic asked with a smile; Knuckles looked away with a small blush. "Hey, are those chili dogs!?"

As the group shared the chili dogs, they explained the situation to Sonic. Then the Jewelpets talked about Jewel Land, which piqued Sonic's interest. "As nice as this place is, I sure would like to see more of it." Sonic stated. "I would like to see more of it too," Cream agreed. Marine smiled at the suggestion. "Well, maybe you guys can check on the other Jewelpets in their hometowns." "Oh! Oh!" Opal called out, raising her hoof. "We should visit my hometown first!" "We can make arrangements tomorrow." Marine responded. "And we need to move Sonic to another room due to the attack earlier. Is anyone willing to let him sleep with them in the meantime?" Sonic and Tails looked at each other and smiled.

At Jewel Palace, Lilia is out on the balcony, looking up at the night sky filled with stars. She has a small blush on her face as her eyes stare longingly at the sky.

'The night sky of Jewel Land is so beautiful,' she thought. Her moment was cut short as the Hooligans came onto the balcony. "Bad news, your Majesty. He's awake," Fang reported. Lilia turned to them with an angry face. "I can't believe you guys failed again!" she declared. "Listen, I need you to help Trip with their task. I need you to help find out the location of the Sakura and Jinnai families." "But we heard that they went to their secret home! It could take days to search through all that data!" Bark retorted. "Now, now, calm down dear Bark," she said calmly. "We should take a break from getting the hedgehog for a while." She then turned towards the direction of the northern mountains; her face wore a wicked determined face. "In the meantime, we need to prepare, so my big scheme..." She plucked a nearby rose. "will avenge dear Rift and crush our foes." She dropped the rose in front of her and stepped on the stem, snapping it.

Sometime later, in Tails' room, Sonic and Tails are in bed as Sonic pulls the covers over them. Tails is glad that Sonic gets to sleep over with him; especially since he already arranged for his female partners to sleep with the other girls for now. As they lie down, Tails notices something on Sonic's neck: Emera's necklace. "Sonic, you're wearing Emera's necklace," he says as Sonic feels the emerald ring pendant. "It's a side effect," Speck states as the pup prepares to sleep. "Or it's actually the emerald you keep mentioning." Sonic and Tails turn off the bedside table's lamps and lie down. "We've got plenty of time together, so I'm sure we'll find out the answers to all the mysteries," states Sonic. "But for now, let's get some sleep." The trio say their good nights as they close their eyes.

Tails opened his eyes and looked at Sonic. "Hey, Sonic?" he whispered. "Yeah?" Sonic quietly responded. "Do you think Emera is having sweet dreams?" Tails asked quietly. Sonic smiled as he closed his eyes and said, "I'm sure he is, little buddy." Tails smiled as he also closed his eyes.

In the dream world, Emera sleeps in a mystical little grove where fireflies hover above him. He has a soothing smile on his sleeping face.
